#695 More Cable Reels The Life of an Owner Operator Flatbed Truck Driver

[Music] for all right good morning we're I think we're near Hallsville Kentucky after disastrous start to the week Monday we went picked up that load and cancelled I had to wait overnight to get it unloaded so took that off the truck yesterday at the same place we booked a load uh some more cable reels going down to uh Oklahoma we are about hang on I'm saying head Northwest for us60 East then turn right onto us60 East all right we're about uh 8 Miles somewhere we got to go pick these things up we'll go get them today's the 1st of November first of the month Bley gets our heart guard medicine the uh 15th of the month she gets her flee and tick medicine I break them up like that I give her the or oral fle and tick medicine [Music] so this loader picking up is going down by Tulsa I don't have a Reload yet see if we can get lucky all right let's go pick up our cable reels got [Music] for all right we loaded our cable reels 39,000 lb went pretty good everything looks good I uh ran it just a little bit behind Center so these uh these things ride a little topheavy you got to be careful with them now these aren't quite as heavy they're the same size but they're not quite as heavy as the other two I took down in North Carolina the other two were wrapped all the way up to the end of The Reel so it's about the same weight it's just on three wheel reels so they r pretty good on our dorsy trailer we need to find a truck wash somewhere I uh we're at the little fuel stop Road Ranger I think it's called graville graville Uh Illinois it's right on the state line of Indiana 64s out there I like stopping here I took baile out for a nice walk in the grass out there she hadn't been out for a while stretch filled up my water tank that's what all that is right there oh door didn't get shut there's Old Bailey so she's already been out and done her business she's happy uh from right here we're going to make our way down through uh St Louis across the bottom side of St Louis on 64 we're going to get on 44 run 44 over to Sullivan Missouri to the uh Flying J truck stop all right we're going to get on 64 here run 64 over to St Louis about 100 and turn right on the I64 West Ram about 120 miles over to St [Music] Louis we're going to pick up the bypass around St Louis run [Music] south go pick up 44 run 44 down through Missouri my goal tonight is Joplin which I don't think is going to be a problem about the cheapest fuel I could find was uh Sullivan Missouri which is the Flying J my price Merc and price 357 a gallon continue on I64 West 55 mil I've gone 1,30 miles since I last bought fuel I filled up and that was up in Michigan and we got just under 200 miles over the sullan so I think we'll be all right these cable reels they make the truck ride rough all right we made it over here to Sullivan Missouri we're going to go to this Flying J up here take exit 226 in 1,000 ft turn right onto Old Route 66 East it uh is usually a mess in here so hopefully it's not too bad today findy gear here oh yeah it's a mess [Music] [Music] [Music] in try to find somebody that's not going to take their 30 minute break here on the fuel out this guy looks like a local driver so hopefully he'll just get some fuel on leave oh man we got we've gone 308 miles today we got 2 hours and 50 minutes left before we take our 30 minute break um there's a big rest area about 100 miles from here and that's my plan is to go there take my break take Bailey out that'll put us about 100 miles from uh the p met down at Joplin we spend the night there and then from Joplin to where we got at delivers about 50 [Music] miles that's the plan all right we made it down here to uh this rest area we've been here for about an hour that's a nice big rest area I took Bailey out for a nice walk she ate dinner she sees some dogs out there hey hey [Music] hey that's enough that's enough hey well Bailey to be quiet quiet I [Music] uh are you done you done so we took a break we ate dinner I fed Bailey and see that red line right there there's an accident on the interstate 15minute backup oh it's still quite a ways away way so maybe by the time I get there it might be cleared up but I'm going to watch it here for a couple more minutes see if it gets longer it was 13 minutes now it's up to 15 minutes I think it just happened but got about 100 miles 107 miles down to the Petro so I could stay here but I might need that 100 miles tomorrow to drive so we'll see how it goes all right we went uh I don't know probably about 50 miles I'm not too sure what's going on but now it says the Interstate closed so I found a truck stop hoods truck stop it's been a long time since I stopped here a little truck stop here so we'll call it quits we're about 100 miles from where we got a deliver uh I don't have a Reload so I'm not in a hurry to get there first thing in the morning but sooner I get empty the sooner I get a get a place in line I uh my coordinator put my name on a couple loads today and empty guys got them I'm an inbound truck empty guys got priority so I'll figure it out but we'll leave in the morning might leave early in the morning if I can wake up and uh get there in the morning anyway we're done we didn't do too bad 474 miles today we got loaded like I said I could have gone I got 2 hours and 11 minutes on my clock for today I could have gone a little further but I'm not in the mood to go sit in traffic that's for sure there's a lot of traffic on this i44 a lot of truck traffic so I can understand an accident but all right that's it I'm going to take Bailey out and we're going to call it a night thanks for watching
