hey wait you want more Disney World tips and tricks for your vacation sure we can give you more all of these Disney World tricks have three things in common they're quick they're easy and they're hard one from our team members on the ground in Disney World every single day we make the mistakes so you don't have to hey everybody it's AJ for Disney food blog and I'm going to keep things brief here in the intro because I got so many easy tricks I want to share with you for your vacation and more than likely you'll also be able to apply to next year as well so let's jump right into it first up use the hidden App features so where have these My Disney Experience app features been all our lives these seriously make navigating the parks way easier than before which features am I talking about specifically well there's the newest update which is the table service wait times update there you can see the current walkup wait times for table service restaurants and lounges just like you would be able to for a ride if you find with a short enough weight for you or one that you're willing to wait for you can join the wait list right from the app then there's the water bottle refill station toggle where you can see all the water bottle refill stations right there on the My Disney Experience map to find this feature just search water bottle refill stations on My Disney Experience then tap find on map like I said these are all easy tricks today you can also do the same thing when it comes to charging locations when you search for charging locations on the My Disney Experience app you're going to see two different options pop up one is for the portable phone charging system system kiosks which is going to show you all the places you can pick up a fuel Rod inside Disney World then there's the mobile charging stations option which highlights the charging stations in just Magic Kingdom right now though we expect to see this option pop up across all the other Parks sometime in the future fingers crossed and then there's the car locator feature which isn't as new as the other features but still a pretty recent addition that uses location services to find and save your parking information once you park then after a long Park day when you can barely think straight your app will lead you back to your vehicle after you park at the beginning of the day remember to press the save vehicle location button or manually enter your car's location yourself all right here's how to get to Disney from the airport for $2 no need to adjust your screens what you read just now is 100% true you can get from the Orlando International Airport and into the Disney bubble for a whopping two bucks now and this is how it's done it's a new links route called link 311 that has direct service from MCO over to Disney Springs and back to MCO when your trip wraps up the bus comes every 30 minutes each day from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and is a fantastic and easy way to get from the Orlando Airport to your vacation destination but the best part it only costs $2 each way now the big issue here is that when you arrive at Disney Springs with your luggage you won't be able to take all that luggage onto one of the Disney World buses to make it the rest of the way to your hotel shouldn't be a problem if you only brought a backpack with you but for those roll on suitcases you're still going to need to book a ride share like Uber oryt or even a minivan to get you the rest of the way to your hotel once you're in Disney Springs good news however is that the ride share from Disney Springs should be much cheaper than ordering one from the airport so you'll still be able to save a bunch of money by taking the link 311 even if it might involve an extra step or two to get to where you need to go the links route can also provide you with cheap and easy transportation to Universal from the Disney Springs area so if you're squeezing a universal day into your trip too don't forget that but if you do that be sure to transfer once you get to the Destination Parkway and trade show Boulevard stop AKA The Orange County convention center before you get off the bus at this stop ask your driver for a transfer to bus 38 this is going to prevent you from having to pay that $2 Fair on your next bus once you board the 38 you're on the last leg of this journey that bus will take you to a stop at Universal Orlando security the same spot you would be after walking through Universal's parking garage now you're just a 10-minute walk from the park entrance we love this next tip we're going to use it again save money skip the sides I know sometimes our favorite part of the Quick Service meal can be the fries or the chips or the of fruit on the side but if you're really just wanting that fast food entree and you don't want the extra food that goes along with it cuz you know you're going to wind up throwing it away anyways see if you can order the meal minus the side to shave down the price by a couple dollars you're not going to see this as an option on the menu but it does work more than likely you're going to have to wait in the physical quick service line to ask a cast member directly about this instead of editing a mobile order since mobile order doesn't always have the ditch the side option and that may not be worth the extra hassle for you but if it is worth it it it could make your lunch in the Parks even cheaper than it would have been before for example the sweet and spicy chicken waffle sandwich at Sleepy Hollow and Magic Kingdom that typically cost over $11 but if you ask for it without the chips on the side it's under 10 bucks next up we want you to enter through epcot's back door for a whole new reason the way we used to navigate Epcot is completely different now while many Epcot festival booths still don't open until around 11: a.m. it seems that many other things around the world showcase are opening up right when the park does which is typically at 9: this goes for not just the rides but for several restaurants and shops now too here are all the world showcase shops and restaurants that open right at 9:00 a.m. at the moment though of course they're always subject to change but we did have a reporter go in and check every single one just a couple weeks ago so the Plaza De Los Amigos Open Air Market in Mexico Norway's restaurants that's Acro Royal Banquet Hall and kringla bakery on Cafe both open and N Germany's gift shops including caramel cusha Italy's gift shops the Joffrey snack cart and American Adventure Pavilion tooshi department store in Japan Oasis sips and sweets in Morocco Leal Banger Patisserie in France of course UK gift shops aside from the toy soldier which opens at 10 don't know why but there you go and the Northwest mertile and Trading Post Refreshments in Canada so if you're looking to grab some breakfast in the world showcase and take advantage of the Rope drop situation you can now actually do both at the same time Across The Pavilions you can enter the park through the world showcase by using epcot's international Gateway the back side of the park which you can access by taking the Skyliner from your Skyliner hotel or by walking there from one of the abcot area resorts this back entrance will spit you out right between the France Pavilion and the UK Pavilion want to dine at space 220 without a scrambling to get a reservation and B having to pay the full prefix menu price then you may want to try eating at the space 220 bar instead this does not take Advanced dining reservations nor does it have a virtual weight list that you can join instead you're going to have to go up to the restaurant's host stand after the restaurant opens at 11:30 and add your name to the physical walkup wait list now you're going to see a line of folks out there waiting for the restaurant to open so if you really really want to make sure you do this then get there a little bit early also keep in mind that bar seating is first come first served which is why we recommend checking on the status of things right when the space 220 Bar opens instead of swinging by later on when the wait list might already be booked up for the rest of the day and since we're already on the subject of getting to certain bars right when they open let's talk about a couple others that you're going to want to join walk up weit lists for right when they open Nomad Lounge over at Disney's Animal Kingdom has an easier walkup waight list to join cuz you can also add yourself to the list via the My Disney Experience app right when it goes live usually around 10:30 a.m. just don't get caught up in the morning Park rush and forget to join the list early on especially on busier days noad Lounge gets packed out cuz it's just that good so set an alarm and remind yourself to join the list as soon as you can then there's Trader Sam's Grog gr over at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort which is going to be a bit more of an ordeal Trader Sams opens up at 3:00 p.m. M daily and doesn't take any advanced dining reservations however it also doesn't have a walk-up wait list either instead you're going to need to line up for this little immersive bar about 30 minutes before it opens so you can get your name on the physical walkup wait list as early as possible before it fills up for the rest of the evening now we love Magic Kingdom's Festival of fantasy parade but what I don't love about that parade is right after it ends and you experience that sudden parade surge for lots of nearby rides Big Thunder Mountain Railroad over in frontierland for example this is a great ride to check out during the festival the fantasy parade cuz lots of guests will be busy staking out their spot for the show rather than getting in line for the coaster so usually the wait time drops for Big Thunder during the 12:00 p.m. and 300 p.m. parades but as soon as those parades wrap up and everyone sees that there's a relatively short wait for Big Thunder via the My Disney Experience app they all rush over there and bombard the Queue at once so avoid the Big Thunder line right after the parade unless you for some reason want to wait much longer than you expected to this is also true usually of things Like Pirates of the Caribbean Haunted Mansion those ones that are kind of like along the parade route or close to it tons of people make this simple mistake even before they head out on their Disney World Vacations but not you never you because you're about to learn what mistake to avoid so you don't end up blindsighted like the other cautionary tales and the people who don't watch dfb guide now if you're traveling to Disney World with friends and family you must link all your accounts together in the My Disney Experience app which allows you to share plans with everyone in your group as well as as book lightning Lanes together share dining reservations sign up for virtual cues and share photo pass photos do you have to do this no should you absolutely do this so that like Aunt Susan isn't left out of like the lightning Lane for saurin which is her favorite ride yes to make this happen first you're going to want to open the My Disney Experience app and tap on the three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner of the home screen then scroll down and choose profile on the top of this new page switch over to the tab that says family and friends list from scroll down and tap on the add a guest button this is going to give you several options to choose from if you've got guests already connected you can find them through there you can also scan their Linkin code which can be found in the app under that profile info or you can manually enter their name and age note that you must add a birthday if your guest is under the age of 18 once you're done choose the add guest option and there you go now scanning the linking code is probably the easiest way to link someone to your account but you can also Now search for someone by their name and photo number and email address through the app too just as long as they've chosen to make themselves searchable tap on the allow option when asked if you'd like to allow others to find you and Link you to their group now this is a pretty new tip for us but honestly I think we've been doing it and people have been doing it for a long time it's using an abandoned restaurant for our own personal gain hey Disney what happened to Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant tomorrow and Terrace used to be a quick service dining location well is still a quick service dining location in Magic Kingdom that would open during busier Park Seasons the food here was never exceptionally exciting but you could grab things like chicken strips BAC and cheeseburgers sometimes lobster rolls salads for for a little while they had the Columbia Harbor House menu here now these days this place is only really used during the Magic Kingdom fireworks dessert viewing parties in the evenings and during the day it's basically a big open waste of space but Disney's loss is our gain so if you just ordered a hot dog from Casey's Corner a spicy chicken waffle sandwich from Sleepy Hollow refreshments and you're struggling to find a place to sit and enjoy them in the shade come to the ghost town that is the Tomorrowland Terrace there you can eat your food in the shade without swarms of folks vulturing for a table so when you pay a separate price to bypass the line of a popular ride you typically expect to you know get on the ride quickly but unfortunately that's not always going to be the case and we learned this the hard way recently one of our reporters decided to splurge and get an individual lightning Lane to ride Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic rewind because a star-lords mixtape would suggest that ride is awesome nor we've purchased individual lightning lanes and we found the lightning Lane cues to be pretty Speedy but on this random day in April it was not and our reporter found herself standing in the individual lightning Lane queue for an hour before she could finally board the ride this is not a typical individual lightning Lane experience Disney doesn't want that to be guest's experience when they purchase individual lightning Lanes but sometimes even lightning Lane lines get backed up for a variety of reasons for example when a ride goes down for some period during the day people who bought individual lightning lanes for it are are usually told they can return at any point during the day when the ride goes back online so if your lightning Lane time is later the crowd that's currently taking up the bulk of a queue could include lots of folks Disney expected to ride earlier so here's our big recommendation to add value to this potential unforeseen circumstance leave at least an hour between your individual lightning Lane reservation and anything else you plan to do that day like a dining reservation or a show or even catching the parade if that's important to you if you feel like there's going to be a conflict especially with a dining reservation talk with a cast member they may be able to help you by giving you a new lightning Lane return time or modifying your dining reservation so you don't accidentally get counted as a no- show and have to pay it's best to do this before you miss either of those reservations though so try to think ahead and speak with someone in advance about your potential time crunch now I know lightning Lanes can be overwhelming for new guests and seasoned Pros but if you're looking for a cheat sheet to help you figure out how you can use this premium line bypassing system and really get your money's worth out of it go ahead and scan the QR code you see on the screen now or head to disneyfoodblog docomo to download our free guide to All Things lightning Lanes today believe me we've been in a lot of lightning Lanes we bought a lot of lightning Lanes we do a lot of lightning Lanes so we got the info for you next tip also a line tip is to pregame the lines now if your ears perked up when I said the word pregame just now then yeah this trick is totally for you pregaming a ride line is pretty loaded statement but basically what we're saying here is that if you're about to enter a queue that has a 45 plus minute projected wait time then you need to prepare yourself before entering said line by doing the following first make sure your phone is at least half battery or you have a phone charger since you'll need it for entertainment second grab a snack and or a drink before your long wait either from your own bag stash or from a location in the Parks third make sure everyone in your party uses the bathroom this one is so important so actually make this your number one pregame priority cuz very few Q lines have restrooms in them and for fill up that water bottle definitely make sure you are prepared to hydrate I know this all seems like a no-brainer but you would be so surprised how many people lose phone charge in a ride line have to go to the bathroom and have to leave the ride line etc etc etc next on our list is multitask you know what else you can do while waiting in line you can feed two birds with one scone and place mobile orders at Quick Service restaurants for you to pick up later when you're ordering food on the My Disney Experience app while waiting in line for something else select the schedule for later option this is going to give you a list of open time windows in slots of 15 or 30 minute increments typically so you can select the return time that works best for you and your fam when you guys get out of the ride when that return window comes around later on in the day and it's time for you to Chow Down make sure you press the I'm here prepare my order button on the app so the restaurant knows you've finally arrived then they can start making that food fresh for you and alert you when it's ready to be picked up now if you're not using Disney Genie plus to skip over the main standby ride lines during your Magic Kingdom day then you may come come to find that by the afternoon pretty much all the ride lines are going to be fairly Hefty and your family might be getting a case of the Q burnout by then so what do you do in Magic Kingdom when you're sick of waiting in lines and you want to do something else that's free and you don't have to wait for it well there's a lot of stuff including some new stuff so first up smell things the easy trick of the century right here y'all over in storybook circus you can experience the bizarre smell aants on Parade attraction which is a brand new familyfriendly search and sniff Adventure where guests are to become Timothy Q Mouse's whiff assistance and join Dumbo's newest act you'll need to stop by a ticket booth near Big Top souvenirs to get a guided map and help you get started second you can become a pirate over in Adventure Land you can join a Pirates Adventure for a five-part interactive scavenger hunt where you're going to track down Treasures evade antagonistic Scallywags and learn about secrets you never knew were lurking around this particular region of Magic Kingdom and after you've completed all five missions you'll earn the grand prize which is a card signed by captain jaxb himself no waiting at a meet and greet line necessary next you can watch an indoor show might be hard to believe but several of Magic Kingdom's attractions actually tend to have very low weight times and give you the opportunity to sit back and relax for a decent amount of time in the AC these attractions include shows like Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress Hall of Presidents and Enchanted Tiki room and you can also get pixie dusted entertainment can be found even inside the fantasy land gift shops next time you're in sir Mickey's gift shop or bonjour Village gifts ask a fairy godmother if you can be sprinkled with Pixie Dust for free the fairy godmothers will be the ones holding a wand out in the middle of the store once you find one they'll ask you to make a wish before proceeding to coat your hair in a layer of sparkly pixie dust and yes all you adults out there this free activity is for all ages just ask dfb Cassie this is probably her favorite thing to do in Magic Kingdom some say she still has glitter in her hair to this very day ooh this is a really good one and it's something that we find that a lot of people don't realize so wanted to throw this in here even though park pass reservations ceased to be a thing for most guests starting at the beginning of 2024 that doesn't mean the parks can't still reach capacity during those super busy times of year so how do you avoid getting tripped up by those rare occasions when the parks do sell out and suddenly you can't park hop over to a particular park because it's at capacity first of all you need to know that even though a park might be at capacity now doesn't mean it's going to stay at capacity all day long cuz guests come and go from the parks all day so you may have a much easier time entering the park at the start of the day around rope drop or early entry or after those afternoon crowds start to disperse this is also why having a park hopper ticket could come in handy if one park is at capacity now you can always visit a different park that's not at capacity currently and then try hopping over to that soldout Park later on when the crowds aren't as intense just remember to call Disney's capacity number it's 40756 5000 isn't that wild they actually have a number to call to find out if the park you want to go to is sold out and that's awesome and super useful now it really does stink being turned away at the gate and it doesn't happen often but it does happen on occasion during those busier Seasons like around Christmas time or rare specialty Park celebrations like what we saw at Hollywood Studios on May the 4th now worst comes to worst Disney is all about ensuring that guests needs are met so if all else fails stop by guest relations at the ticket window outside the parks and see what they can do our next tip is when you're going to hear from us 10 million times from now until eternity and that's to hydrate and get the free water cups so Bria has written this particular portion of the script all in capital letters so she is yelling at me and at you in turn here we go I know that writing this all in caps makes this point sound like a threat but I promise it comes from a place of love and worry and by no means has any ill intentions even if you don't have a refillable water bottle handy ask Quick Service locations for a cup of free water so you don't have to worry about paying for a bottle of water multiple times throughout the day okay she has finished abusing her caps lock button we just always want to make sure that none of you end up passing out from dehydration because believe it or not it happens more than you would expect this one's an oldie but a goodie and we're going to keep recommending it cuz we do it every single time we're in the Parks no leftovers Left Behind if you bring your own plastic baggies or plastic containers from home to keep in your Park bag you can use them in several different ways they can hold your leftover snacks like Mickey Rice Krispies or giant lollipops so you can munch on them later they can protect your El El ronics from getting wet when it gets rainy out or if you plan to go on a water ride and have to take your bag with you these are extremely useful on colli River Rapids and they also carry snacks that you purchase from the grocery store ahead of time so you can avoid paying $5 plus per snack every time you start feeling kind of munchy during your Park day and that also derails you getting into the next ride line our new favorite containers that we've been carrying around the parks with us lately are those foldable silicone storage ones like we found over on Amazon for 17 bucks not only does that price give you multiple storage containers in varying sizes but since they're also collapsible they don't have to take up a whole lot of room in your bag until you need to use them all right look I've been there sometimes the ride is too intimidating or sometimes you know deep down your stomach isn't going to be able to handle it no matter the reason you may for some reason or another need to dip out of the ride queue before you get to the front of the line and that's what the chicken exits are for do not be embarrassed by using them if you or someone in your group decides they want to use a so-called chicken exit which is really just an Fair term for an exit within the ride queue that allows you to leave an attraction instead of riding it ask a cast member for help they can show you the way out and help you breathe easy once again I had a period of time in like I think my 20s that I was terrified that I was going to have a heart attack on Tower of Terror because it makes your tummy do weird stuff and it made my heart like beat faster so I was like I'm going to have a heart attack I'm not riding this ride and so I would use the chicken exit every time which ironically is an elevator when you finally arrive at your Disney World hotel sometimes the last thing you want to do is wait in line to check in at the front desk which is why the mobile check-in feature on the My Disney Experience app is a real Nifty thing it's a time-saving perk that lets you go straight to your room once it's ready all you need to do is wait for the notification telling you your room is ready and then once you are notified and given a room number you'll just scan the sensor on your hotel room door with your device or Magic Band and there you go you're in you can also choose to use automatic checkout as long as you've got a credit card on file in the app with auto checkout you don't need to do anything except leave your room by 11:00 a.m. if you've requested a late checkout you'll have until that time to leave but keep in mind there's always a chance you might not get this request granted if the resort has a quick turnaround time that day usually if I want a late check out I will call and ask for it first thing in the morning the day before I'm checking out do you want to pay for just one soda or do you want to pay for multiple cups of soda for the exact same price when you're having lunch while you're going to find sodas for sale at pretty much every Disney quick service location you go to only a handful of Disney World's quick Services have one of those self-served freestyle stations where you can get multiple refills of your own accord now if you are a soda Goblin like I am and you go through multiple cups of Diet Coke with every single meal you need to know about this here's where you go to get those self-served stations inside the parks in Hollywood Studios you can find self-served soda stations at Backlot Express and echol lake and ABC commissary off commissary Lane in abcot go to connections eery and World celebration Regal Eagle Smokehouse in the American Adventure Pavilion or Sunshine seasons in the land Pavilion for those freestyle perks or you know hit up Club cool if you want an international sample size soda for free and in Animal Kingdom you'll find a refill your own soda opportunity at our favorite Quick Service of The Parks at Tuli canteen inside Pandora as well as restaurantosaurus over in dinoland USA being early to your Disney World vacation is never a bad thing it just means you can get your trip started even sooner however if you just traveled from the airport you'll likely still be dragging around your luggage with you which is exactly ideal if you're wanting to hit up your Resort pool or start a shopping spre around Disney Springs while you're killing time waiting for your hotel to tell you your room's ready and dragging around all that luggage will be especially annoying if you're vacationing in 2025 since you're going to have the opportunity to hit up one of the Disney water parks either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach whichever one's open when you're there on the day you check in good news you don't have to keep dragging your luggage around instead you can drop off your bags over at Bell services in your Resort bell services will safely hold your bags for you while your room to be is getting all also on the sad but inevitable day when it's time to check out of your room bell services will be more than happy to hold on to your luggage during your last harah around the Disney bubble too also if you checked out of one hotel and you're grabbing one last breakfast or lunch over at another Disney hotel the resort you have dining reservations for can hold on to your luggage too at their bell services very convenient just don't forget to tip those cast members who are holding on to your luggage for you I usually go with a dollar per bag chances are you want to ride the newest attractions when when you're on your upcoming Disney World trip like Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic rewind and Epcot Tron light cycle run in Magic Kingdom and the soon to be Tiana's Bou Adventure also in Magic Kingdom as of late new Disney rides don't operate with a standby line instead there are two ways to ride you can purchase an individual lightning Lane for them or try to snag a free spot in the virtual queue the thing is though virtual cues fill up fast so you'll need to be prepared if you want to snag a spot in line each ride that uses virtual cues will have two boarding group distribution times each day one at 7:00 a.m. the other at 1:00 p.m. you want to try for that 7:00 a.m. time slot first since you can snag that from the comfort of your hotel room without having to worry about it once you're in the middle of your Park day you can even get one from like the airport as you're boarding your plane if you're going to arrive in Disney World later that day just hopefully your boarding group doesn't get called before you actually arrive in the park so to be on the safe side be awake and ready to get that queue via the My Disney Experience app before 7:00 a.m. and if you're on Disney property you may be tempted to leave your phone connected to Disney Wi-Fi but here's the thing Disney Wi-Fi is notoriously spotty and it could cost you a spot in the virtual queue so turn off Wi-Fi on your phone before that boarding group distribution time if you trust your phone's service more than Disney's right on the hour select join virtual Q the next screen will usually ask you to confirm everyone who'll be joining the queue with you however you can confirm your party ahead of time starting at 6:00 a.m. and skip this extra step completely to save some time and join the queue even faster now don't forget that you can pay for your friends with your Disney dining plan credits confused don't worry using your DDP credits on your friends is easier than you might think let's say you're meeting up with Aunt Susan and Epcot her family who's staying in a different hotel room decided to opt out of the Disney Dining Plan but your family went ahead and added it to your vacation package during the day you decide that you're all snacked out but aunt Susan finds a festival food item that she really wants to try and it's DDP eligible you can absolutely let Aunt Susan use one of your Disney dining plants not credits and no one's going to arrest you and throw you in Disney jail for doing so same goes for covering someone for a table service meal or a quick service meal too if your spouse or someone else in your group doesn't want to eat another sit down meal and would rather taste around I abcot Festival instead then you can totally use that leftover table service credit on a friend or family member who's not using the Disney Dining Plan I'm sure Aunt Susan would very much appreciate it we want to make sure the way you dine around Disney World is as easy as pie which is why the team and I have put together the Ultimate dfb Guide to Walt Disney World dining detailing literally every restaurant you can eat at inside the theme parks there's hundreds of them all the resorts the entirety of the Disney Springs shopping district everything cuz you know what we've been to all of them many many times and we go back to all of them pretty regularly like we try to get back to those restaurants every few months so that we can re-review them for you re-review all the new menu items make sure the service is still good or bad depending and make sure you know everything you need to know to decide if it's the right restaurant for you head over to dfb store.com to download your guide and don't forget to type in code YouTube for a very quick and easy discount cuz we''ve got that YouTube for you exclusively next tip don't start in Magic Kingdom I know sounds weird but let me explain if you're going to take a super short Disney weekend getaway then this is how you're going to make the most out of your limited time here first purchase those park hopper tickets then splurge on the multi Park Genie plus add-on you're definitely going to want a budget back for both of those extras just something to keep in mind now start your day in Disney's Animal Kingdom on occasion this park opens earlier than all the others so you can really get in there and hit the ground running while the lines are still short figure of speech please don't run in the Parks now while you're getting in line for animal kingdoms ride start stacking your lightning Lanes in the second Park you plan on visiting that day like Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios For example it's very likely that the second Park you're going to go to that day is going to be open later than Animal Kingdom so that's the good choice you're going to be able to book a new lightning Lane every 2 hours after the last one you snagged don't worry the app's going to let you know exactly when you'll be able to make your next lightning Lane reservation so you don't have to stress over it once you've hit up everything in the animal kingdom that you want to you can jump over to Magic Kingdom when you're ready by then you should have a whole lot of lightning Lanes already lined up so you can quickly get on the rides in this second Park one after the other note for this strategy to work you're going to want to make sure the lightning lanes you've selected have return times that actually line up with when you're going to be in the second park because if you book a return time for 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for say Big Thunder Mountain but you're still an animal kingdom during during that time then you're going to wind up wasting a lightning Lane so keep an eye on those return times and make sure they work with your Park hopping plans now just now I told you that the My Disney Experience app's going to let you know when you can make your next lightning Lane reservation which it will but you can also help yourself out here by setting an alarm a few minutes before that listed time that way when the alarm goes off you can hop on the app and browse current weight times and lightning Lane return Windows to strategize what you want to choose next that'll work best for your current itinerary every minute saved helps Once Upon a Time Disney used to be able to send souvenir purchases you made in the Parks back to your hotel so you didn't have to Lug them around with you all day long but when Disney World shuttered its doors during the covid-19 pandemic package delivery was shuttered as well and it's been that way ever since while we still hold on to that faint sliver of hope that someday we'll see this hotel perk return once more there are still a couple of easy solutions that you can turn to for your package problems first you can rent one of the Disney lockers to store your items so you don't need to hold on to them all day long or have to backtrack to your hotel room lockers tend to range in price between $10 and $15 for the day or you may want to use Disney's shipping services so you can have your items sent directly to your house your real house not your hotel house for an added fee this can be a solid option if you're purchasing a larger item or just don't have much space left in your suitcase yeah we know that feeling Disney will even ship your items internationally with a few exceptions it may not be the service we once knew and loved but at least it's something another tip that I actually figured out by accident is that you can ship anything that you purchased in a Disney gift shop via any other Disney gift shop here's the example okay so my friend dining in Disney over on Instagram her name is Heather was going on a trip to Europe and wanted a whole bunch some sort of hat like Mickey Germany ears or Peter Pan hats I can't even remember she wanted like 10 of them right now I personally did not want to put all 10 of these things in my suitcase take them home take them to the post office and send them so I went to my hotel gift shop right before I left the hotel to fly home and I said hey I bought all of these things in Epcot can I send them to my friend's house from here for just the cost of postage and she's like yeah totally they just had to check the skew to make sure that I had bought them in a Disney World gift shop and they did and I had and so they packed them all up and they sent them to her house so I didn't have to like do the multi-step process of flying this stuff home and then going to the post office and like putting them all in a box doing all this stuff right they just did it for me it was super useful and all I had to pay was like the postage which is what I would have had to pay anyway at the post office at home so yes anything you bought at a Disney gift shop you can just put it all in a big pile at the end at your hotel gift shop and be like hey can you put this in a big box and just send it to my house pretty handy especially when you have to buy like 10 Mickey ears for somebody now this next one is one of my favorite favorite favorite tips and I use it myself all the time if you have a hotel room preference your wish is Disney's command sometimes at check-in time and or in the My Disney Experience app you can make room requests for certain buildings or locations at your hotel want to be close to the pool somewhere near transportation in a building far away from the foot traffic Disney will do their best to accommodate all requests but keep in mind that there's no guarantee you'll get what you ask for the same is true for room upgrades it's always worth asking for one cuz the worst case scenario is that a cast member will say there aren't any and then you can just move on with your life but remember that if a request can't be accommodated it's not because Disney cast members are trying to pick on you it could be for a number of reasons but most commonly it's because the room type you asked for is already completely booked up by other guests so always be kind when putting in your request but remember to keep being kind even if you don't get the answer you were hoping for okay yeah but how do you even know which buildings you want to request well that part's actually kind of up to you but we are going to help look at a map of the hotel you wish to stay at and figure out which building will put you in a comfortable walking distance to the lobby the buses the pools the food for your family or on the flip side you may also want to track down the building that might be further out from all these amenities simply because you prefer less foot traffic and more peace and quiet rather than that extra convenience that may come along with more noise and more people by the lobby either way look over the online maps of these Resorts and get a feel for the building that's going to best fit your family's needs if you still find yourself checked into a room that's not what you were hoping for location wise contact the the front desk and see if a room switch is still possible if it's not then it's time to pull out plan B and make the most of where you've been placed if you're placed in a building way out in the boonies look into whether the hotel you're staying at has an internal bus route that travels through the resort grounds furthermore make sure to look into other methods of Disney transportation around property offered from your Resort for example with some of the buildings at Pop Century or Art of Animation that are far from the main lobby and therefore the buses they're still closer to the Skyliner station which provides easy access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios same thing with Caribbean Beach resort if you're not close to the Skyliner station for the actual Hotel you might be very close to the sky liner station for the Riviera and that means that you're also closer to the better food options at the Riviera so that's a tip in itself and if you're placed in a room that's too close to All the Resort action for your liking make sure to pack sleeping aids like earplugs and white noise machines to help log out any extra convos and Giggles that you might be hearing going on in the hallways how much you use your phone during the Disney World day is complet completely up to you but whether you use it constantly or just every now and then for a quick picture and a wait time check you're going to want to make sure your phone doesn't you know out on you you'll always catch me recommending that you pack portable chargers so you can use them while you're strolling around the parks especially those Wireless ones if you have wireless charging on your phone but if you have a charging cord with you and you want to take a break from your Disney day to juice up your phone while simultaneously resting up and cooling down before braving the crowds and rides and heat here are some low-key locations around Disney where you can sit back relax get out out of the Sun and charge one Disney World lobbies several lobbies at hotels are now equipped with either new seating or newer tables that are high-tech enough to allow you to charge your phone while you're sitting idle waiting for your bus or fellow party members or maybe even just trying to get some work done Disney's Hotel lounges can also be a great place to charge up while you're sipping on a fruity spirit and chitchatting with a friend two storybook circus over at storybook circus in Magic Kingdom there's a yellow circus tent that many people tend to pass up simply because they don't know what's inside it so what is inside this tent not a whole lot to be honest but that's actually great for us cuz we like to come here to sit and breathe and Juice up our phones and have a midday existential crisis and you know however else we want to buy our free time this tent is located near the fantasy land train exit so don't accidentally neglect it if your phone's in desperate need of a charge three World Showcase Pavilions this strategy may not give you a full charge but it might give you enough of a charge to keep your phone hanging on for just a little while longer well yes the new world celebration Gardens are absolutely booming with charging port for you to use they're all Outdoors so if you're in need of some AC in the midst of Your World Showcase wraparound be sure to pop into each Pavilion and see where your next best spot to charge could be waiting for you we've done this before in places like the Shanghai Disneyland exhibit in the China Pavilion and inside the American Adventure Pavilion while we wait for the next show to start simultaneously listening to the wonderful voices of Liberty take the spotlight in the Rotunda and by the way if you really want a multitask go ahead and charge your phone on the buses there are actually charging ports under your seat we got a lot of different charging locations we could recommend for you around Disney but we've compiled all our favorites into a post over on the dfb website to see it just Google Disney food Blog plus charge my phone what to do what to do you want to save money sure but you also want to get a taste of the high life during your Disney stay so how can you somehow manage to do both by refusing to make a decision that's how yay for indecisiveness if you opt to do a split stay you can book one Disney hotel for the start of your vacation like a more affordable value Resort and then cap off your trip with another way more fancy Disney Resorts day in a deluxe room for instance it's literally the solution to having your cake and eating it too you still get to try out a deluxe Resort but you don't have to commit to paying Boku for it all trip long if you do book a split stay Disney's going to help transport your luggage between hotels for you you can drop off your luggage at Bell services in the morning when you check out of your first hotel room and then you can head out for the day without having to worry about needing to transfer your bags over to the second Hotel just let them know where you're going next let them know what your reservation number is and they should be there ready to greet you when your next room is ready at Resort number two just stop by bell services and let them know now let's talk about a different kind of split not a split stay but a split group if you're planning on traveling with a bigger group during your next trip or even if you're traveling with a decent sized group who just has a lot of different opinions about what needs to be prioritized during your visit don't be afraid to break up the party for a while so everyone can accomplish what they want to do splitting up from your group also comes in handy when you're trying to attack multiple experiences at once like abcots Festival Food booths for instance if one person gets in line for one booth and another person gets in line for another then you can cover more ground and more food in less time and share it all this is a strategy the dfb reporters use all the time Disney World has their own stroller wheelchair and ecv Rental locations at the front of each of their parks and while your rental purchase will be good for the whole day the rental items themselves cannot transfer between locations so what do I mean by that let's say you have a parkhopper ticket and you're planning on visiting both Epcot and Hollywood Studios in a single day you can purchase your first rental starting at Epcot but when it's time to hop over to Hollywood Studios you have to return the rental like the stroller or the ecv to the front of Epcot before you head out then once you arrive at Hollywood Studios you'll be able to show your Rental receipt that you got from Epcot over at the Hollywood Studios rental location once a cast member confirms that yep you sure did make a rental purchase already today you'll be able to pick up a whole new rental from from the second Park without being charged all over again so just to reiterate the daily rental purchases will transfer just not the actual item this is also the case if you have to pay for parking if you're not staying at a Disney World Resort and you're planning on driving into the parks each day you'll have to pay $30 per day for standard parking but again if you're going to be Park hopping that day then you'll just have to show your parking receipt that you receive from the first park at the second park and they'll let your car on in without charging you twice now maybe you should skip the regular Park ticket this might be one of my most off-the-wall suggestions yet why would you not get a regular Park ticket well I'm not telling you to skip the parks I'm telling you to choose another Park ticket option instead one that'll give you cooler evening temperatures shorter lines complimentary snacks and way fewer people to navigate around after hours events are a separate ticket option from your standard theme park purchase capped off at a limited number of guests and they give you the opportunity to hang out in certain parks on certain nights for an extra 3 hours after they've closed to the general public that being said after hours guests will still be able to enter the parks a couple of hours before that event kicks off even if they don't have a regular day ticket so they can enjoy some of the other Park offerings before the sun goes down tickets vary in price depending on which Park you visit and which date you choose but Epcot after hours starts at 1:49 per person Hollywood Studios starts at 1:45 and Magic Kingdom starts at 165 sometimes they have Animal Kingdom after hours events but there's none going on at the moment so we can't kind of quote you a price for those at the moment now getting a Disney World annual pass can save you money sometimes and here's how even if only one person in your group has an annual pass you can use those passholder discounts on everyone in your party so if you're a local or just a frequent Disney flyer and you've got a season pass to the parks then anyone who wants to join you on a future Disney trip can piggy back off your passholder discounts too and vice versa we're talking discounts on food hotel rooms backstage tours souvenirs after hours events and Memory Maker packages as well but not holiday parties at this time those party ticket discounts for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party are still strictly for passholders only you can see the full list of passholder discount opportunities over on the Disney World website and if you only go to Disney once a year you can always get an annual pass for your trip at say the beginning of June and then go at the end of May the following year and get two trips worth of savings out of one annual pass long gone are the days of free Magic bands for Disney World hotel guests but you can still manage to get a cheaper Magic Band than everyone else if you're planning to stay on Disney property during your next visit and a lot of people don't know about this to access this magic band discount open your My Disney Experience app and tap on the three horizontal line icon in the bottom right corner of the page from there you can scroll down to the section that says Magic bands and cards now if you tap that it'll take you to a screen with more options but you want select the Discover more with magic band plus one if you stay at a Disney World hotel coming up you can browse the latest online which is where you'll find those hotel guest specific discounted options these discounts are subject to availability and could always change but it never hurts to check and see if you can buy a band for cheaper an exclusive group of people have access to Disney's most affordable Deluxe Resort and that Resort is shades of green shades of green is an armed forces Recreation Center Resort meaning that it's owned by the United States Department of dents but located at Disney World what's unique about the hotel is that you must be a member of the Armed Forces or be sponsored by one to book a stay here the resort is meant to be an affordable option for service members and their families so room rates are on a sliding scale what does that mean well pricing is based on the military members pay grade so one can expect to pay less if they're just starting out in their military career compared to someone who's worked their way up the ranks over time most of Epcot drinking spots aren't shy in the slightest they're going to want you to come on over and try out whatever you want and you're going to be able to track each of these locations down with ease but then there are the sneakier Epcot drink spots that not as many people know about which might play more in your favor if you want to pick up a quick beverage minus the weight in the brass Bazaar at the back of the Morocco Pavilion you're going to find the Morocco snack and beverage cart this tiny unassuming little bar packs quite a punch and by punch we mean sangria you're going to find both red and white sangria for sale here but here's the catch it's served for two so you'll only pay one price but receive two cups word of warning this cart doesn't seem to have any set hours meaning you'll have to just catch it open by chance from what we've seen personally though it seems to usually be open during the middle of the day meanwhile over in the France Pavilion lvin de France may look more like a gift shop rather than a bar but that's because it literally is a gift shop with a bar hidden on the inside here you're going to be able to choose from an array of champagne as well as different wines but what makes this place extra special is their champagne flight options there are two champagne flights currently available one more affordable and one a little fancy ier so you can choose which champagne tasting route you want to go sometimes this tiny gelato cart next to Muppet Vision 3D in Hollywood Studios is so inconspicuous that even we forget it's there but then this gelato cart goes and releases new and interesting gelato flavors and suddenly we find ourselves ready to brag about it again the Grand Avenue gelato cart always has eight different flavors on the menu usually our go-to is the POG gelato with that famous passion fruit orange and guava flavor but this gelato card also likes to incorporate new flavors of the month which gives us a reason to come back regularly to see what they're serving up next during our last visit we got to try the prickly Paras sorbet which was extremely bright and extremely beautiful like dragon fruit like Hue that somehow tasted like four distinctly different flavors a little bit of pear a little bit of cranberry a little bit of vanilla and a little bit of caramel this is run by the same folks who run Viv gelato in Disney Springs FYI so I'm here shouting from the rooftops letting you know that just because not seeing dining reservations for the Disney restaurant you want to eat at now doesn't mean you need to give up when it comes to table service dining you can always check the My Disney Experience app for last minute reservation availability and don't forget about how the app also sometimes offers a walkup wait list for select restaurants which in the past has given us the opportunity to snag some really great dining on the Fly more times than we can count some Disney hotel restaurants also have to go options you can take advantage of if your reservation strategies have been exhausted just search to go in the My Disney Experience app and you're going to see which table service restaurants have this option then you can order your food on the Fly just like you would for a quick service location like a mobile order a few of the more popular Hotel sitdown options with to-go capabilities include Steakhouse 71 the Contemporary Resort sonat Animal Kingdom Lodge Three Bridges Bar and Grill at Coronado Springs and Olivia's Cafe at Old Key West but if none of those options work out for you you can always move on to plan C or maybe even plan d by this point and ask about po potential availability in person over at the restaurant's Podium first thing in the morning when the dining location opens for the day okay wait there's more Dole Whip hiding out in Disney World at El Marcado de Coronado aka the quick service location inside Disney's Coronado Springs used to be pepper market for those of us who are super old you can order from a small selection of soft serve flavors but one of those flavors just so happens to be the famous pineapple D whip you even have the option to swirl your doll whip with some vanilla soft serve if that's what your heart is telling you to do and get this there's another hidden doll whip spot I need to tell you about that's two hidden doll whip spots people and actually there are tons you know there are tons you go to Pineapple lenai you go to Swirls on the water lots of places to get do whip with no Park ticket but very few people know about these two spots so anyway going on to the next one if you head to the dolphin side of the Walt Disney World spawn and dolphin hotels the grab and go fuel Market has a little station where you can get self-served frozen yogurt and self-served Dole Whip this is the only place on proper property that you can get self-served Dole Whip fill it with however much you want just remember every ounce is about 70 cents so don't get too wild so if you've got little ones or someone with Mobility concerns in your group then you're going to want to scope out the Disney World hotel bathrooms before you book that's because not every Disney World hotel has a shower tub combo some have showers only now which can be a problem for those who need to sit during their baths or for younger kids who aren't used to showers trust me when I say Disney World is not the place to get them used to showers but guess what we have room tours of all the different Disney hotels up on our website that you can check out right now just search disneyfoodblog dcom hotel tours in the Google search engine and you'll be led to a full list of all our website posts that feature complete hotel room tours you can also check Disney World's website at any time for the most up-to-date photos and information now don't forget to check for construction no matter what time of year it is you can probably find some kind of construction or refurbishment project going on at Disney World there's so much Disney world is basically the size of like two Manhattan Islands so think about how much construction is going on in Manhattan on any given day and you're definitely going to find some in Disney World and this is why it's always a good idea to research your hotel before you book it and see if there's any sort of renovation projects that'll be going on during the time you're planning on visiting we always do a Roundup of updates like this in our free dfb newsletter to make sure everyone who's signed up for them is always alerted about the latest Disney construction and news but for now here's a super quick Roundup of a few noteworthy project projects we've been featuring in those emails that my newsletter people are already aware of first the Disney World website has a statement on its Port Orleans French Quarter page warning guests that between May 2024 and November 2024 some rooms at the resort will be under refurbishment this means that those rooms will not be available to book and it also means that guests may be able to hear some construction noise during the day jumping into the future for 2025 there are actually two major reasons why you may want to skip out on a stay at Disney's yacht club resort reason number one just like French Quarters some guests rooms at yach Club will be under refurbishment from January through May 2025 now we don't know if some rooms are going to get an update a refresh or a rethe but something is definitely happening early next year meanwhile at the exact same time the major pool shared by yacht and Beach Club Stormalong Bay is going to be closed around the same time for maintenance from January through June 2025 so that's not just one but two projects that'll be happening at this Resort during the beginning of next year so you may want to look into other Deluxe Resort options instead that are still nearby the Epcot area like board Walkin or Swan and Dolphin hotels Bay Lake Tower at Disney's contemporary resort recently announced their lengthy refurbishment that's going to last for a whole year according to the Disney World website the refurbishment will last from September 2024 to September 2025 but that's always subject to change while the resort will still be available to book during these times rooms may be severely limited Disney also warns that guests will see and hear construction work throughout Bay Lake Tower and guests will want to allow extra time for travel since the typical Bay Lake routes may not be open open Disney keeps working to improve dining experiences for those who visit their parks with food allergies now if you're planning on dining at a table service restaurant but you or someone in your group has a food allergy that you need to alert the table service of ahead of time this is what you'll need to do step one while making your Advanced dining reservations online be sure to note any special diets on the reservation itself you're going to be presented with the option to note a food allergy or special request as part of the reservation process so when you see the option below click add step two if you want to make extra sure that your food allergy is addressed during your visit email Disney special diets department at special. diets disneyworld.com or call 407 82459 67 step three just to make double extra card rup will sure that your allergy concerns are addressed talk to the chef or restaurant manager when you arrive while your server should already have your allergy note listed in the reservation info they'll still more than likely ask if there's any other allergy concerns they should be aware of before you all get started on ordering foods and drinks and if they don't ask this question for some reason you can still mention that you'd like to talk to a chef or manager before your meal so any lingering allergy concerns are squared away before you dine all the single Riders put your hands up if you're in a ride that has a single Rider option available and the queue is looking rather intense there's a good chance you can significantly lower your weight Time by choosing the single Rider line over the standard line and it won't cost you anything extra the single Rider lines we tend to find out the best track record when it comes to shortening your weight are at at Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run in Hollywood Studios and Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom just keep in mind that by using single Rider you'll have to split up your group which may not be ideal if you've got a kiddo with you who's already nervous about coming face to face with a yeti in the mountains and understandably intimidating Endeavor to say the least also note that if you use single Rider at Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run it's very likely you're not going to be the pilot you're probably going to get slotted into a gunner or an engineer role you know what else is free to use when you're trying to shorten your ride weit time Rider swap okay so technically Rider swap isn't a way to shorten your wait time it's just a way to make sure everybody in your group who wants to ride the thrill rides gets to even if you've got someone in your party that doesn't want to ride just ask a cast member at the front of the attraction about ride or swap before you jump in line and they'll get you all set up so this is probably one of my favorite Disney dining hacks of all time for disney-owned restaurants you can make your dining reservations 60 days before your vacation if you're staying at a Disney World hotel you can make reservations for your entire trip at the 60-day Mark however if you're staying off site you'll have to book those resi 60 days in advance one day at a time but there is one major exception to this rule many Disney Springs area restaurants are available to book on the Open Table website and if you make your reservations there you might be able to get them even earlier than Disney's 60-day marker you might even be able to book some a year in advance it's Overkill but we admire your eagerness at the same time as an example you can book summerhouse on the lake 90 days in advance both STK Orlando and Ragin Road Irish Pub can be booked 180 days in advance and weine bar George can actually be booked a year ahead of time through Open Table however some spots like the boat house still keep to that 60-day window but provide another way to grab adrs if you're not finding them over on the My Disney Experience app just check Open Table okay is this a niche Point probably but it may impact the start of your Hollywood Studios day more than you realize the restrooms on Hollywood Boulevard during rope drop I.E the ones located just after after the park entrance are wildly packed out too packed for you to waste your time on especially if you've really got to you know go and to make matters worse they're not excessively large either so that long line at the start of the day builds up fast instead of using those restrooms relieve yourself before stepping through the park Gates by stopping at the bathrooms outside of Hollywood Studio's entrance which are massive and often kept pretty clean oh my goodness I cannot stress this one enough if you wear makeup at Disney get the waterproof stuff cuz your face will get wet wet with rain wet from water rides wet with tears because you're just so happy or just so tired either or wet from the sheer amount of sweat that pours down your face for hours on end there are a few waterproof makeup brands our dfb reporters tend to favor more than others because they're in the Parks all day every day and these are not going to break the bank for you for instance Maybelline New York volume Express that's a mascara that's like $8 on Amazon or at your local drugstore we found that it stays on and doesn't really smear even after a full Disney day which is nice since we really don't want to look like Rocket Raccoon by the end of the night if you want to keep your cheeks looking Rosy all day not because you're overheating but in a way more adorable way these blush sticks from colourpop are only 10 bucks and they're nice and hydrating meaning the color won't flake like some powders do and while lipstick is usually the first thing to fade when you're facing a long day at the parks the Maybelline superstay vinyl ink goes on and stays on delivering up to 16-hour wear with a color lock formula it only costs 10 bucks as well now I'm going to talk in circles about the importance of planning ahead of your Disney World vacation I'll even tell you to have backup plans just in case things go A skew but here's the truth of the matter something is bound to happen during your vacation that you just didn't realize was going to throw off a good portion of your itinerary and you're going to have to roll with the punches like how are Tron virtual cute return time interrupted Festival of fantasy for us and we had to bow out before the end of the parade or how Space Mountain just wouldn't go back online again no matter how much we begged and pleaded for it to stop being temporarily unavailable or even how two of our lightning Lane turn times ended up clashing and we had to sacrifice one for the other and yet when it was all said and done we were still able to deem our day as the perfect day for us cuz we were still able to roll with the punches and switch things up on a dime when needed honestly that's why you watch dfb guide to learn everything about what could happen and how to actually make it great even if it does so even if you think your itinerary is Flawless know that Disney will still try to find ways to put your plans to the test so be ready and don't get stuck on one particular thing if it doesn't go your way just be flexible go with the flow it's all going to be fine now I'm cheating here but I still think it's important to remind y all that your Disney World Resorts Day in 2025 is going to look a whole lot different than it does now starting in 2025 if you're staying at a Disney World Resort Hotel you're going to get a free Park ticket to the water parks on your arrival day this ticket will be good to use at either Blizzard Beach Water Park or Typhoon Lagoon water park whichever one is open and that means you can just drop your stuff at your hotel on check-in day either in your room if it's ready for you or at Bell services like we talked about earlier and then head out to go have some fun in the sun so don't forget that that is going to come around very soon if you're going in 2025 you're staying at a Disney hotel you're going to have that water park ticket but it's only going to be available on your arrival day so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to use it on that first day maybe arrive a little bit earlier than you were expecting take a flight in the night before and stay with a friend or something like that so you get your full day at the water parks and also don't forget to make sure that your water park gear is in your carry-on just in case something happens to your luggage on the way all right easy peasy lemon squeezy now you can take on a Disney World vacation in 2024 or Beyond with plenty of tips
