5 Times Villains Showed Batman Respect

Batman is one of the most feared and respected heroes in the DC Universe not just by the civilians and heroes of the world but by the villains as well and this is simply because of his towering intellect and tactical skills he may not have superpowers but he does have an incredible amount of willpower and we're going to take a look at five times that villains have shown respect to Batman dark side now dark side is one of the most powerful villains in the DC Universe and even the insanely powerful Heroes like Superman have been beaten by him before but in the film Superman Batman Apocalypse Now Batman Superman and Wonder Woman go to dark side's planet to rescue Superman's cousin Supergirl and while Superman and Wonder Woman engage in fights Batman hacks into dark side's deadliest weapons the hell spores and he tells dark side that if he doesn't let Superman's cousin Go free he will detonate them all and destroy the entire planet now Dark Side attempts to to beat Batman into submission but of course Batman isn't deterred by the sight of his own blood and so dark side is forced to agree to Batman's terms and lets them all go and he tells Batman that he is impressed by his tactics saying that Superman or Wonder Woman couldn't have done the same but a human kills even their own species to win Wars which he considers to be an admirable trait so he's showing quite a lot of respect to Batman in this moment and he is also impressed with Batman in the Justice League animated series dark side tries to kill Batman with his Omega beams but Batman is able to dodge them and dark side admits that no one has ever managed to dodge these beams before at least in this universe and there's also a time in Batman the Brave and the Bold when Batman stands off against Dark Side to defend the planet managing to go him into not using his powers but in fighting in hand-to-hand combat and dark side honors his request which is not only a great show of respect but it's also a little bit silly to be honest given dark side's staggering amount of physical power there was no way Batman could win in hand-to-hand combat or even hold his own for that long really still it is a good fight and it is quite impressive that he was able to get dark side to face him as an equal and Batman also manages to avoid dark sides and meab beams in this fight as well though of course they do defeat Dark Side all the heroes combined and then send him on his way and in Apocalypse war after dark side has captured most of the Justice League and brainwashed them he chooses to have Batman as the head general of all his armies as he respects Batman's mind enough to know that his towering intellect is the best choice to tactically command his forces and to best Implement dark side's will Across the Universe and the most impressive part about this is that Batman is truly brainwashed in this the other heroes are basically programmed like robots and don't even know who they are except for Superman who's just cast aside to be punished but with Batman he keeps his mind intact because he knows that he is the most useful piece to to keep in his army Ral now Ral has never had anything but respect for Batman sparing his life on several occasions when he could easily have let him die and of course he has never revealed to the world his secret identity purely out of respect for him he even wanted him to be his successor because he respected his abilities above all other humans and that's all other humans not just on the planet now but that he has met throughout his hundreds of years of life they are led by a man who father believed could be his successor until my father became aware of you and re believed that with an army of Assassins behind him Batman could bring about a better world a world that re was never able to do and he even gave him the honor of being the one to have a child with his daughter true Batman didn't do this of his own free will Talia drugged and then took him to bed without his consent and this Union created Damen Wayne but still re has never allowed anyone to have a child with his daughter let alone become his Heir so for him to let Batman do it is the ultimate sign of respect and as for being Rael G's successor Batman naturally turned it down as it would mean killing people which he refuses to do I will never kill not even you what you lied to me I needed a sample of your father's blood this was the only way allow me to help you use my sword take it all no and in Batman Beyond after Batman refuses to succeed him re then decided to steal his body and put his own mind inside of it which in a way is actually the most respectful thing he could have done as imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery and so becoming him must therefore be the most sincerest form of respect for his abilities he respects him so much he wants to literally be him after all he could have had anyone's body but he chose Batman's you always were the perfect speci detective even old age has not softened you as much as I had feared and in the under the Red Hood film R en lists the Joker to fight Batman the idea being that joker will distract Batman and Robin from rac's activities and it works except that joker goes too far and kills Jason Todd and so out of respect for the fact that re was the one who unleashed the Joker and therefore is partially responsible for Robin's demise re decides not to go to war with Batman again and he also brought Jason Todd back to life wife with a Lazarus Pit as Penance for his transgressions against Batman now re has killed hundreds if not thousands of people and he never goes out of his way to treat them like this but he always goes out of his way to treat Batman like this and if that doesn't show that he respects his enemy well nothing will Joker in The Telltale Games Joker is called John Doe and if you make the right choices Joker not only becomes Batman's friend but he bases his entire identity on Batman becoming a bat- based hero and even saving Batman's life as he completely idolizes him of course later choices can lead to them fighting but still this was a huge display of love and respect and in Arkham origins The Joker is so impressed by Batman's abilities that he puts a $50 million bounty on his head and he hires the world's deadliest assassins to take him out and if that doesn't show respect for his abilities then nothing will of course Batman is so good that he still manages to take the Assassin down though it isn't easy and he also shows him respect in Arkham City by having him collect his cure for his illness Joker could have gone about getting his cure from Mr Freeze in many many different ways as he has a lot of villains on his payroll but instead he uses Batman now you could say that this was just for fun and there was is an argument there it is the Joker after all but I think he knew that Batman was the only person who could 100% get the Cure though of course Joker knows that Batman can't be bought or intimidated or manipulated so he not only infects him with the disease but he also infects innocent citizens and this had to be done because although Batman does want to save everyone we all know he wouldn't have gone out of his way to save Joker from his own blood poisoning it's his own fault at the end of the day but in a roundabout way he is showing a lot of respect for his heroic ways he knows what Batman is the ultimate hero and that is the greatest display of respect Batman has ever gotten from The Joker Amanda Waller now Waller didn't think much of Batman to begin with in the Justice League series as she viewed the Justice League as nothing more than a threat to humanity or more to the point a threat to the United States government but over time she began to see the League's worth and Batman's as his actions earned her respect I read your mind that's how I knew you weren't going to use Mrs Waller's weapon on me no I wasn't and eventually she not only respected and admired him but she began to fear for a world without Batman to the extent that as he Grew Older she decided to make a replacement for him rather than simply train someone she instead decided to clone him sort of she found a couple of the right age and then used nanites to secretly change the man's reproductive material to a genetic match of Bruce Wayne's so that his son would be genetically the same as Bruce Wayne's son and thus she created Terry mcginness whom Would One Day end up becoming Batman Beyond and like I said imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery and the ultimate staple of respect and on top of this she actually intended to kill this kid's parents so that he would turn out more like Batman but when her assassin got cold feet and went to Waller and said this isn't right she agreed betraying Batman's ideals in order to create a new Batman is not what he would want and again out of respect for him she decided not to do this though as I said eventually he ended up being Batman Beyond anyway but hey some things are beyond our control and for all that Fierce exteror I've never met anyone who cared as deeply about his fellow man as Bruce Wayne the Batman in the TV show The Batman Hugo Strange says that he thinks the most dangerous hero more dangerous than the rest of the Justice League is Batman and that he is also the only intellectual equal or at least rival that Hugo Strange has and when strange sides with an invading alien race called the joining and helps them to defeat the Justice League and begin their invasion of Earth Strange tells the aliens that Batman is the most dangerous one and the biggest threat but the aliens only care about the beings with superpowers and dedicate all their resources to stealing the League's abilities which they do succeed in but then with Batman's help the league escape and then Batman gives them his secret weapons for taking down the Justice League well what gives partner you've prepared weapons to use against us only as a precautionary measure this is because now that the aliens have their powers they also have their weaknesses and using Batman's weapons they take down the aliens and get their powers back so although the aliens underestimated him Hugo Strange did not he respected Batman's abilities from the beginning if only they'd listened to him they might have actually taken over the Earth the Arkham Universe now Mr free shows Batman respect for his abilities by needing his help on a couple of occasions in Arkham City the bad guys have taken frieza's wife and he knows that he can't get her back on his own so he tries to beat Batman in a fight even though he knew he was going to lose in order to force him to help him but he overestimates his own abilities in the fight and of course he loses but don't forget Batman is a hero so he still rescues his wife and Mr freees even giving gives him a cryo weapon to help and in the Arkham Knight game Mr Freeze has actually learned his lesson when his wife is taken again the bad guys say they want Batman in exchange and Mr Freeze doesn't even try to fight Batman as he knows Batman's abilities are far greater than his own and of course that the bad guys probably won't stick to this deal if you trust them Victor take your shot warning cry generator unstable he also knows that if he talks to Batman and asks him for his help he'll go and get his wife for him which he does because he knows Batman is a Great Hero and this is a great show of respect for Mr Freeze in fact if you look through the Arkham games he is in you can actually see his appreciation for Batman's skills growing in Arkham City freze knows he is dangerous and skilled but he still thinks he can overpower Batman with his suit but by Arkham Knight he's learned just how outmatched by Batman he is and him lowering his weapon in sub Mission even though Batman has done nothing but just stand there well that is one of the greatest shows of respect that Batman has ever received from one of his Rose gallery and other villains show their respect for Batman in this universe as well in the game over screens in the Arkham Origins game both Shiva and Deathstroke comment on how great Batman's skill is and in the Arkham Knight game over screens Mr Freeze does the same saying that he will avenge Batman out of respect for him now it may not seem like the greatest praise since he has to be dead for them to say it but for a villain and an assassin there is no greater respect than for that of a worthy opponent Justice League action now in one episode of this show the most intelligent people on the planet are kidnapped and Batman is ranked as one of the smartest man alive by Mr mind and he then kidnaps him along with the others on his list as he considers them to be the only threat to his plans now it may not seem respectful to abduct someone but he did this out of fear of Batman's intellect which for Mr mind is the greatest version of respect there is and he is still defeated by Batman regardless because Batman really is just that smart and in another episode of the show zatana and Batman go to a magic club for Monsters demons and evil magical creatures all of whom don't actually want to fight Batman and when they do leave satana tells him that monsters actually tell each other Batman stories when they want to scare themselves I don't often deal with Wizards don't underestimate yourself little secret when goblins want to scare themselves they tell Batman stories now in a way that's just a cute little line but still I think it is a great show of respect in a way after all they wouldn't make that joke about Superman now would
