hey everyone welcome to remaining wild today i'm gonna go over the five reasons why i love the nemo equipment hornet two person ultralight tent and one reason why it might be a deal breaker so i've had this tent for just over a year now i've taken on some pretty amazing hikes like madison boyne and tonkin valley in the canadian rockies and one thing that i really love about it is the unique divvy dual stage stuff sack which makes it really easy to pack up the tent but also to divide it so you can share the load between two or more people the second reason why i love this tent is that it is extremely simple and easy to set up from start to finish it takes no more than three minutes which is great for when you're tired and you're getting to camp and you just want to relax i think a big part of that is the jack featherlite pole system and the fly bar clips that attach to it it's an extremely ingenious design that minimizes the weight of the tent while also making it really user friendly the third reason why i like this tent is that it is incredibly spacious i am six feet tall 230 pounds and i find that i have more than enough space for me and my backpack and my other hiking things to go inside the tent with me at night now granted this is the two-person tent so if you had the one-person tent it might feel a little bit more snug but i find with a two-person tent i have more than enough space for me and all of my gear also the corners have a really unique triangular guy out system so it provides more usable space at the foot of your tent the fly bar volumizing pull clips also provide a little bit more head space so you can comfortably sit up in the tent by stretching out the top of the tent horizontally another feature which makes this tent incredibly spacious are the horizontal volumizing gaias which clip onto the inside wall of your rain fly which provides a lot of interior space because it stops the walls from sagging inwards the fourth reason why i love this tent is that it is super durable it is definitely held up through all of the abuse that i have put it through it's technically a three season tent but i've used it in every single season so far from winter spring summer and fall and it is held up it hasn't shown any signs of wear and tear or damage it's also recommended to use a ground sheet with it which i've also never used and so far i have never noticed any tears or rips from rocks in the fabric so overall it seems like a pretty durable tent the fifth reason why i love this tent is more of a personal reason it has this really cool light diffusing pocket here at the top where i bring a battery-powered light and put it in there at the end of every night i crawl to my sleeping bag and i scroll through my photos and videos that i've taken through the day on my hikes and it just kind of allows me to go over my favorite memories for the day and appreciate you know the sights that i got to see and i just find that is a really amazing and relaxing way to end each day while i'm on the trail so we've gone over the five reasons why i love this tent but i think it may have one critical downfall and that's water the tent and the rainfly are made of a really thin nylon material which is great for making it lightweight but i have noticed that it's water resistant up to a certain point if it's raining really heavy or raining for a really consistent long period of time that it starts to lose its ability to repel moisture and it seems like it starts to absorb it and the walls the tent will get a wet feeling to them i've never actually noticed water pooling inside of the tent but if it's raining at night i have noticed if my sleeping bag is up against the wall that it will start to feel a little bit damp so that's something to keep in mind that this may not be the best tent for really rainy or wet hikes so those are the five reasons why i love the nemo hornet tent and one reason why it may not be right for particularly wet hikes if you like this video check out my gear review playlist here and i'll see you on the next one
