hey sweet fans and welcome back to my channel if you're new here my name is caitlin and this is craftsman katelyn and i love making all things diy and home decor and we try to make them actually like super nice on this channel so they kind of look more like store-bought and not something that you would be embarrassed to display in your home so if you love diying and crafting make sure you hit the subscribe button also don't forget to leave me a big thumbs up for today's video we are going to be making a ton of different diys using the dollar tree pots and planters so some of these are going to be the little terracotta clay pots but not limited to that i'm also going to be using some of the larger ones but dollar tree has a huge display of tons of different pots and planters i cannot wait to jump in and show you all of my ideas also leave it down in the comments some ideas that you have or something that you've made with one of the dollar tree planters without further ado let's go ahead and jump on into the video and see how i use all of these pots and planters getting started on the first diy i am using three of these larger terracotta pots they come in a two pack at dollar tree so this is two packs to get the three and then i'm using one of these hobby lobby wooden circles as well as a dollar tree dowel rod so i tried to put a hole inside of the wooden circle that would fit the dollar tree one and it was really loose so i upgraded to a larger walmart dowel rod but for this project i wanted to create like the large tipsy turvy planters that you see all over pinterest during the springtime with the huge terracotta planters i thought it would be super fun to make a mini version of this so i glued the dowel rod down in place in the circle painted all of my pots white and then while i had my drill i did go ahead and kind of drill in the bottom of these to make the hole a little bit bigger i sanded around the top just because i didn't want to paint the inside and then stain the stand with this flagstone stain [Music] this definitely looks harder than it is i thought it was going to be tricky to get these to kind of stay sideways but it was not at all so the first one i just tilted it to the side i even hot glued a little block in there to make sure that it wasn't going to fall down i glued it to the dowel rod at the top just to kind of tack it in place and then doing the same thing just tacking this in place where it is touching the dowel rod and these stayed perfect so i was worried about this holding together but it is so sturdy i'm just super careful moving it around and then i wanted to fill this with some beautiful succulents from dollar tree as well as some awesome new ones that i found from walmart so i filled this in with just whatever styrofoam that i had as well as some spanish malls and then tried to rearrange the little succulents i purchased a planter from big lots that had this coming out of it and i loved it so much and i was super excited to find out that walmart actually sells this by itself so it is around five dollars but this is super high quality and it actually feels really real and is just really nice and doesn't look cheap so i thought it was so cool to let this kind of hang and dangle off of the edge i am obsessed with how this turned out and being in this mini little version looks so beautiful and it goes really well with all of my neutral decor [Music] next up is an adorable little piece that is sure to catch your eye i think this little guy turned out so cute so you have to get on pinterest and look up flower pot people there are thousands of ideas people are so creative but i thought it would be really fun to kind of take that idea and make more of a neutral green little guy that would go perfect for like boho farmhouse so i am using two of the larger pots from dollar tree as well as two of the smaller ones i ended up attaching the two smaller ones with a piece of jute twine with a little knot in place to hold them together i chose the moss green color to give them this gorgeous finish and i didn't i was kind of careless about painting this because i just knew i was gonna paint the bottom of these or technically that's the top but then i decided not to i love that terra cotta color so i decided to go ahead and sand that down so that it made more of a straight line and then my little person needed a face so i took my chalk rider just to be super safe and kind of etched out the little eyes to be as even and get the shape that i was wanting and then went in with my paint and kind of put it permanently down and i'm just free handing this but you definitely can cut out the little pieces of paper trace it on paper and cut it out to get more of a perfect symmetrical shape [Music] i just did my best to get these as straight and symmetrical as possible and then i'm taking my sharpie i go ahead and draw the little circle nose as well as fill in the little mouth and it is so much fun putting this little guy together i added a ton of hot glue to hold the arms in place as well sandwich down the top pot to the bottom and then filling in the top little pot is so much fun you definitely can put some real potting soil and add a real plant or some type of little greenery or herbs or something in there that would grow that would be so much fun like the chia grass i decided to go with more of that dangling hanging succulent which i love it so much it looks like hair that is actually dangling down i feel like it needed a little bit extra detail because i am doing more of a neutral color and i didn't go all crazy and add many details so i put the jute twine around there and i love love love how it is looking i think it is so adorable and it's just perfect to make this spring [Music] for the next project i wanted to create something like a larger pot project that you could display on a porch or patio i'm starting with this larger plastic planter and i spray paint it with this metallic spray paint and it went on a really nice and i love using the textured pots or planters to spray paint them because it has so much more to adhere to rather than just being shiny plastic so the paint is really holding on to this but i did want to make it look a little bit more rustic or galvanized and dull down that shiny paint so using some dark gray and white i'm just kind of randomly dabbing and brushing it on there just till i like it and then filling this up with some styrofoam and spanish small so that i can start adding in my flowers these lavender picks came from walmart they are huge so they're a little bit more pricey you can substitute it with some dollar tree floral picks but i chose to really add in those high quality pieces and then just using some random white little flowers from dollar tree i stuck those in the front but i am loving how those lavender bushes from walmart are actually giving it so much height so this will look like a nicer piece and i love how the little wild white wildflowers are down at the bottom but i wanted to create like a farmhouse sign to really set this planter apart from just having flowers in it so i am using an easter yard steak and i tear off the little plastic piece so that i have this wooden stake for my sign and then one of dollar tree's wooden crafter square pieces i painted it silver with the spray paint and then dabbing over the dark gray and then once again trying to use the white to make it look a little bit rustic and i love how i got to paint the middle and then dab around the edges so it does look like it's kind of chippy paint and then i love these dollar tree rub ons and i am spelling out farm fresh [Music] i wanted to add in some extra detail on the sign so i put in a few of the rub on vines from dollar tree and then attach this using wood glue and a little bit of hot glue i tied some jute twine around the top and then stuck this sign down in place i feel like it is such a beautiful piece and it's such a fun spring project that you can create to spruce up your front porch or patio let me know if you have been seeing these small little wooden barrels that are plastic but look like the faux wooden barrels from dollar tree i was so excited to find these i could not wait to get to use these in so many projects and i've actually used one of these before but i wanted to share with you a new way this is super simple takes no time at all but i wanted to give this a nicer look by adding some handles so dollar tree has out some leather ribbon which is so much fun to use you have to grab some if you see it it comes in a ton of different colors so i wanted to glue this with a little bit of space so it looks like a handle and then i have these upholstery tacks left over that i purchased a long time ago i actually took a pair of wire cutters and cut off the tack itself and then glued the head of the thumbtack or upholstery nail down in place on top so it looks like the handle is actually attached by these pieces and looks like it has hardware so this gives it such a nice higher end look i put some old styrofoam down in this pot i put some spanish moss and some large rocks from dollar tree and then you can just be so creative here and stuff down all the succulents that you like it's so funny because there are certain succulents that i don't love but whenever i arrange them in a centerpiece like this i feel like they look so beautiful together and adds a lot of contrast i have used this little wooden barrel on a few different projects i also made this hanging planter i'll leave a link to that down below but such a fun fun dollar tree piece that has so much potential and then we have been using all the other types of planters so i could not leave out these little metal planters yes i have made several things out of these as well but i wanted to share with you a new project that would go perfect with more of like our boho modern farmhouse look um i just like a mixture of everything so i'm into like the darker metals of modern farmhouse but i love the light woods of boho farmhouse so definitely let me know in the comments down below what your style is i wanted to give this a different look so i decided to paint the bottom white and then using a black paint marker i just picked this up from walmart i am just freehanding this i am not trying to get it perfect at all i know my lines are kind of crooked i know my little triangles triangles were kind of crooked it was just the point and bohemian is all about more of like freestyle and just anything really goes if you want to try to create something in your own style and people are mixing it with colors and it just looks so beautiful to me so i stuffed in just any type of greenery that i had i had a eucalyptus and some lamb's ears so i just threw it all in there with boxwood and everything and i feel like it looks so beautiful all mixed up i added this little tag and this is how it came together with the little ribbon decals it looks so beautiful and exactly the look that i was going for [Music] thank you all so much for coming along and crafting with me today this video was so much fun all the pots and planters are perfect for spring diys and going on into summer um but just good year-round too so i love these don't forget to leave me a big thumbs up make sure i
