#44 What Size Brush Hog For Your L Series Kubota 3901, 3301,2501

[Music] welcome back everybody Mike here it is Tuesday July 18th 2017 and it's a steamy 88 degrees I'm not going to complain about the heat though last time I did that it was brought to my attention in the comments that apparently there are places you know other parts of the country and other parts of world where it's hotter than it is here in western Pennsylvania I was unaware of that look man if I live somewhere where it was like 95 degrees and humid all the time I would not have a YouTube channel I know that because when I got home from work I would probably go right to the air-conditioned house and be holding down couch for the rest of the night but anyway today's video I just got home from work and I have to go do some more work more like a side job slash favorite kind of thing see there's a elderly lady that lives out the road we know her and her daughter very well and very nice people she's a sweet lady and anyway her husband passed away last year and he used to maintain all the property there's like five acres I think they have and so over time as he got older he kind of got rid of his his bigger tractor and quit mowing the whole back piece of the property and then then he got it just to riding a Kubota riding mower to mow around the house and then he passed away and so the daughter she's trying to take care of her place and her mother's place and it's kind of mother nature's taking over so I'm going to go out tonight with the Kubota and give Mother Nature a smack down or try to I don't think I'll get it all done tonight and we have a couple hours before it gets dark but so I'm going to head out there and show you see she rides too well she has two riding lawnmowers and I Kubota and a Cub Cadet and I'm going to talk her into picking the right tool for the job you know choose the right mower she actually enjoys mowing but we had a really wet spring and early summer and it's just it just got away from her and understandably so I'm going to go help her get caught up and plus mow the field the back that hasn't been cut in a couple years and but that's it I'll see a little [Music] [Music] well I made it out here I'll show you what I got to try to take care of here basically everything inside of the tree line there's a couple acres here total I walked everything the other night she showed me where an old horseshoe pit was but I'm gonna have to kind of go slow because I have no idea what's in here but I better get started [Music] [Music] [Music] you [Music] so I see a lot of questions on forums and you know tractor farms and things about what size brush hog you should run and I see a lot of discussion between the Kubota l-series the 2501 3301 or the 3901 well after doing this I'm not done yet but working on this this is very thick and the landowner she just told me it's been three years since it's been mowed and so that's a30901 Kubota with a five foot lamp red rush hog and I tell you it bugs down a little bit I mean I'm getting through it no problem tractors not getting hot or anything like that but I don't think a 6-footer would be very good for this tractor in this thick of material if it was you know kind of a woody material with some shade where it doesn't come up as thick I think six footer would be fine but if that's the case if you're in the woods you kind of want the 5-footer anyway to get in and out of trees a little bit better so just my opinion but like I said this stuff is thick I don't think I'd want to be running a six foot brush hog and this tractor here is like 37 and a half horsepower 30.6 PTO horsepower so I think the 5-footer is the right choice for me you know like I said if you're not in anything that thicker you something's already being maintained I think a 6-footer would be okay but if something you know if you're going out somewhere it's been neglected for a couple years Thank You Aaron what a 5-footer as armed I thought so like I always say if you enjoy these videos please click Subscribe I had this goal of a thousand subscribers by October or like 1700 something now so blew that out of water thank everybody for that and another thing I want to mention I started a Facebook page outdoors with the Morgans check it out we can still discuss each video in the comments on YouTube but on the Facebook page I'll put you know different pictures of different projects and I will share each video as it comes out because I know sometimes the notifications on YouTube are kind of screwy the plus we can be us and talk about anything on there but we'll stick with the comments on the videos on YouTube and then but yeah check out the Facebook page outdoors with the Morgans and like that page and we'll stay in the loop and share information all right thanks I'm going to get back at it [Music] [Music]
