[Music] hi everybody it's paula bickford here from the confederation park 55 plus activity center i'm here with you today to do about a 40-minute dance fitness class and today we're going to focus on kind of more ballroom dance rhythms we're going to do some salsa cha-cha waltz those kinds of things but in an easy way that's going to be make it easy for you to follow so all you need is a little bit of space some water and let's get started okay we're gonna warm up [Music] okay just give me a little march [Music] okay big breath baby when i met you there was peace unknown i said i have to get you with a fine tooth i was soft [Music] okay let's do a little side to side here nice and easy we're just warming up [Music] okay so let's take our two steps two to the side and two okay we want you to get all warm ready to go for our dancing coming up okay can you tap that heel in front [Music] just keep it easy now let's tap that toe [Music] okay we're gonna tap the toes to the side okay let's do a little march here [Music] now we're gonna take it forward here in a second just to get you moving up and back a let's do it we're going up one two three tap that toe okay so let's go grapevine to the right we're gonna go grapevine [Music] good let's go side to side [Music] okay we're gonna tap that foot back it's a little top to the back okay let's go heel to the front [Music] okay let's go forward this time we're going to do a little kick now we're keeping today totally low impact so work as hard as you want [Music] good all right hopefully you're feeling a bit warm we're gonna start getting into our dance rhythms talk a little bit about all of these rhythms and patterns that we're gonna do today okay so i think we've got a little foxtrot here okay so thinking about that fred and ginger style a little suede let me see what spring is like on jupiter and mars okay let's take a little chassis hold my hand thinking soft on those feet [Music] baby kiss me okay let's take a step together kick step together step kick let me sing forever you are all i long for all [Music] in other words i love you okay let's take escape forward skate we're just gonna step back nice and easy to our next rhythm here disco okay it's always fun to do a disco we'll keep it easy to follow [Music] okay so to start we're going to bring up this knee just goes up tap back good little hip switch take those water breaks when you need to moving on to our next rhythm okay we're gonna do a samba you might think you can't do a samba but you can we're gonna break it down okay we're going to get that rhythm going we'll count it out we're going to do it good samba rhythm one a two one a two one a two one a two okay basic samba here try one a two one a two one and two [Music] yes we go side by you know you can okay moving on to our next rhythm i think we've got a cha-cha yeah we do okay so we're gonna do a little cha-cha-cha to our spice girl okay so we're gonna count it out for you okay cha-cha is one two cha-cha-cha one two cha-cha-cha one two cha-cha-cha try that basic side one two cha-cha chop [Music] keep it on the spot can you add a little twist [Music] if you feel up to it you can try a little twist [Music] cuban break that's just to tap in front [Music] keep it going [Music] okay try this we're gonna go one cha-cha keeping that foot back that's another variation [Music] now we can cross forward [Music] cross [Music] we can also go forward and put back [Music] cross for the front and back [Music] good crosstake cuban break we're gonna try a double looks like this [Music] on the spot one two cha cha [Music] let's cross it forward dancing with the star's arms if you like good let's try front foot back yeah you got it good all right good job moving on to our next rhythm i can hear it we're going to do a little shakira which is a salsa okay we're going to explain let's start with our basic salsa one two three five six seven that's the count one two three five six seven so we're bringing that foot in some folks make a mistake and they step over but make sure you're going out [Music] together yes can we try lowe's triple strap forward two little triple steps let's take a little triple backs [Music] yeah let's go back salsa back back [Music] [Music] all right we're going to try a little variation we're going to go forward back forward together back together try that side salsa site [Music] we can do that too [Music] here's the deal we're going to switch legs forward back forward [Music] yes forward and back good stay here we're just gonna do a little twist can we twist around you can do it again [Music] good stay here this time we're going to try something a little toe shake just keep it light [Music] beautiful side salsa for two and then we're gonna go forward back for two [Applause] [Music] wherever [Music] good can we step back good so there's a few basic salsa steps for you you can use those to other songs anytime jive okay here's the drive we're gonna do a rock stepped back step one two back [Music] yes try shimmy beautiful we're gonna do a big triple step triple step rock back classic drive steps we try that rock step again get those arms going [Music] good we're going to triple up drive style try it again all right can you try this time kick kick if you want you can do big arms [Music] kick one two three kick in front [Music] we're gonna try a drive step this time we're going back [Music] it's hard [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] good big [Music] good all right moving on next rhythm should be breathing now for sure i'm breathing too so we're good another disco this is a little bit slower we're gonna put a little hustle in here too try it out get it big reach up [Music] there [Music] [Applause] good let's just go forward [Music] one more time let's go double disco foot's crossing behind good now we're gonna try a little something hustle you're gonna notice that rhythm walking a little triple step back thinking [Music] now let's take a big reach so it's like you're reaching the corner [Music] and a big sweep thinking that dancing with the stars waltz and everything that you do [Music] good let's take a want you to stretch the upper back so you're looking at the ground arms go out and we're gonna roll those wrists [Music] stretching that calf muscle heel down now let's rock back toe's gonna come up and we're gonna feel that stretch all the way up the back of the leg [Music] let's put that heel down [Music] now let's rock back with that toe up stretching the back of the leg [Music] good let's
