[Music] hey guys what's up it's Charlie Geren today we're going to glue here ten facts that proof Japan is amazing Japan is a country the whole world seems to be fascinated by today and when you hear these facts and see these photos you'll understand exactly why that is Japan have various inventions and cultural things which are unique that make them also but before we get into it why not subscribe and press the notification bell to coming in that's number 10 we have trains so pretty much every country has trains in some countries it's kind of a mundane way to get around but in Japan trains it very different to around the world and in my opinion a lot better first off let's start at the train station if you go to a busy city like New York London or pretty much any city in the world the train stations are packed there's tons of people rats and chaos everywhere you go no matter how many times they yell at everyone in those overhead speakers there's a lot of disorder in trains and subway stations well in Japan that is not the case as you can see people line up perfectly one big thing about Japanese culture is it being very orderly and this is the case with their trains another awesome thing on some Japanese trains are sparse on board you may pay hundreds of dollars to go to an expensive foot spa but in Japan you can actually get these on some trains that's right some special suburban trains if you buy special tickets will allow you to bathe in foot spas this is absolutely awesome on cold days so you can warm up your feet or if you've had a stressful day at the office you can relax on your commute in or back from work this is something you definitely won't find anywhere else in the world and another cool thing about Japanese trains is how fast they go just take a look at this coin positioned on a train the bullet train in Japan is going so fast the coin can't even feel the train moving much like how the world spins around and we don't feel it it's the same effect for this coin next up is movie theaters so from the spas and trains it seems like Japan is the perfect country for those who like to relax well the same is true for Japanese movie theaters we all know movie theaters have auricular seats and in some movie theaters there's also premium seats for a higher price well in Japan if you really want to relaxing luxury you can watch a movie in a bed that's rights many movie theaters in Japan are equipped with coach at suit coach at Hsu is a traditional furniture item in Japan it's basically a small table with seats all around it and on those seats are pillows and even blankets too just imagine a romantic date in this movie theater or perhaps a fun day out with friends guys we have to be honest when it comes to movie theaters Japan wins next up is food expectations so in the Western world we're very used to false advertising how many times have you seen a food item that looks so delicious on menus but when you get it it looks a lot less delicious what in Japan that that is not the case don't get me wrong they have very delicious looking food adverts but when you buy the food you actually get the real deal that's right in Japan expectation and reality are in sync just take this advert for an American cherry pie Frappuccino in Starbucks if this was in the USA or another country it would not look like the advert and we likely wouldn't even be mad that it didn't that's because we've come to expect it but as you can see in this image expectation meets reality in Japan also if you look at this detailed dessert on the menu it looks very setup but as you can see you actually get the real deal in this restaurant next up is coca-cola coca-cola has been America's favorite soft drink for centuries we all know what coca-cola looks like it's a dark brown color but if you go to Japan it's the only way you'll be able to recognize Coca Cola is from the label that is because in Japan coca-cola is clear much like the failed clear Pepsi back in the 90s Coca Cola in Japan is clear Coca Cola Japan decided to ditch the caramel ingredient from their recipe you see clear drinks are very popular in Japan and coca-cola wanted to cash in on this cultural difference next up is gas stations so gas stations are something which no one likes go to first off gas costs a lot of money and sadly even Japan can't solve that problem but how many times have you driven into a gas station and then realize you've parked and the wrong side you didn't either have to do a complicated procedure of turning your car around or stretch the hose over your car while that problem it will never happen in Japan that is because in Japan for gas pipes actually hand down from above this helps drivers to make sure they're never in a situation where the car is on the wrong side of the gas pump I have to say this is massively useful if you're having a clumsy day next up is kid cats here's another food one kid cats are one of the most popular chocolate bars in the USA now Japan also have Kit Kats except they're far better in the states in most other countries we're used to that classic red wrapper and the chocolate taste but in Japan there are various flavors including fruit flavors like strawberry fizzle soap air and citrus golden blend you can also get vegetable KitKat's such as soy bean and if you have a strong taste palate you can even get hot Japanese chili KitKat more American friendly Kit Kats in Japan our cinnamon cookie and something I'd love to try strawberry and blueberry cheesecake flavors but the most popular Kit Kat flavor in Japan it's not original but instead green tea this one I've actually eaten myself and I can recommend it but what I wouldn't want to try is wasabi flavored Kit Kats leave a comment telling me whether you would dare to try this Kit Kat or not next up is taxi doors so here's another mode of transport that is different in Japan we know that the Japanese love automation and order and the same is true for their taxis in Japan most taxis actually have automatic doors this means there won't be any accidents with people leaving taxi doors open it also means that if a clumsy person leaves the door opens the driver won't have to get out and shut it and what's more you'll never be told off by an angry taxi driver for slamming the door shut again next up is sleeping at work in America and many other countries people like to work all the time some people are workaholics and can constantly be found in the office and in the USA some stores even stay open 24/7 but when you're tied in most countries you can't just take a nap under your desk even though you may want to well in Japan that is not the case sleeping at work is actually approved on not only do they sleep at work in Japan they also sleep at school the Japanese understand the value of sleep and have something called a menu this translates to prison while sleeping meaning you can literally sit and take a nap right next to your boss next up is buses so here's the final way transport in Japan is much better when compared to the rest of the world I'm sure where you'll get very angry when bus drivers strike this means many people can't get to where they need to go and may miss work but in Japan bus strikes happen differently bus drivers actually do go into work and they do their bus routes the only difference is they don't charge any passengers for the service this loses the bus company's money seeing as they're paying for gas but it's actually profitable for passengers and it also means the bus drivers have the full support of the citizens seeing as they're not being inconvenienced in any way next up is smoke bags in many countries when you're done with your cigarette you likely throw it on the floor but in Japan that this is frowned upon in Japan this is seen as littering but if you put cigarette tins in the trashcan you'll also be frowned upon Japanese people wouldn't want you to do this as it makes the area smell of tobacco so instead you'll find these small cigarette pouches lying around pretty much everywhere you go if you can't find one in a business police officers actually carry these around you simply open it up and seal your finished cigarettes in it this means there's no cigarette butts in the street and also no tobacco smell ten photos that prove Japan it's not like any other country coming in apps number 10 we have expectation versus reality so we all know that food looks amazing on packaging and adverbs advertisers do their best to trick us into buying a bunch of stuff but of course advertisers are full of tricks for example if you walk into a McDonald's and look at the adverse the Big Macs look like this but then when you come to order one it looks more like this now of course the image they show us Photoshop very heavily and I'm sure that 90% of us have never seen expectation meet reality well one day in Japan somebody went into their local Starbucks they were going to get their regular Starbucks coffee until they saw an advert for American cherry pie this was one of those crazy frappucino drinks that Starbucks makes now on the image it looks seriously delicious almost too good to be true but if we saw this in the USA we'd know that it would be nothing like the real product well in Japan it seems the expectation meets reality is this is what the guy got as you can see his drink is exactly like it is in the advert it almost looks like his drink was the one photographed I'd like to go to and just to try an American cherry pie Frappuccino that is something they seriously need to make worldwide next up is coin Al's so in your city there's like e canals canals he used to channel water all around the city of course Japan have lots of canals too except they're slightly different it sounds crazy but in Japanese drainage canals they're a koi fish living in them that's right the draining canals in Japan are actually clean enough for fish to live inside them I have to say this is pretty amazing and makes the whole town look much more beautiful just imagine how tranquility be driving to work and seeing a fish swimming by your side these fish are all kinds of different colors and sizes and I have to say this is like one big roadside aquarium I see lots of animals on my way to work to accept that are all dead on the side of the road next up is ATM holders so when it comes to ATMs we need both hands one to insert our card and press the buttons and the other to cover up our pin but what about if you don't have two spare hands well in Japan they got you covered did you know that Japan has a very ageing population in fact Japan has the most aging population out of any country on Earth that is why next to every ATM is a cane holder this way elderly people can store their canes while using the ATMs but if you're younger and think this is pointless then don't worry as well as the cane hole that there's also a drinks holder so imagine if you have a cup of coffee or a soft drink keeping hold it in this holder I have to say this is so genius and incredibly useful and it's very considerate of Japan to do this for their aging population the Japanese are known for taking care of their elders and this simply proves it next up is hospital meals so nobody likes going to hospital obviously the main reason why is because you're likely injured but another bad thing about hospitals is their food hospital meals are known for being terrible but one day a woman posted online saying I recently gave birth in Japan here is some of the food I ate as you can see on the screen right now here are some photos of the food they gave her in hospital now remember this isn't a very special or fancy hospital she was simply giving birth not having a major operation but nevertheless she was given gourmet style meals just look at the kind of food she got take this dessert for example it looks gourmet made I didn't realise Gordon Ramsay had began working at hospitals I'm sure this is much better than any hospital food you've ever seen come to think of it this is better than most restaurants the reason why they do this in Japanese hospitals is they believe that food is a big part of getting better please say that having enough to eat and having a balanced diet will get you back on your feet in no time and I have to say they're probably right nobody likes going to hospital but though on condolence to go into a Japanese hospital is getting amazing meals in the UK all you get is toast although it is pretty darn good toast in America the hospital meals are known for being very bad but in America you have to pay for health care however in Japan health care is actually free and that includes these meals I'm sure any Americans watching a pretty envious of Japan right now and I don't blame you next up is Braille cans so from this list it's clear that Japan is very considerate they think of people who we may forget for example the elderly but another group of people who Japan think of is the blind obviously being blind is very hard just imagine not being able to see anything you wouldn't be able to do many basic things like pick out your favorite drink in a store but in Japan you would be able to do that that is because in Japan drinks cans have their names written on them in Braille on the top as far as I know this isn't the case in any other country blind people usually have to ask a store worker for assistance but in Japan they get their independence back and can simply fill the Braille to find their drawing and this isn't just on drinks in fact everywhere in Japan is totally blind friendly but remember this isn't just one drink brand in Japan it's actually the law that every drink must have their name written on them in Braille on the top I have to say this is a genius thing which I think they should implement all over the place it's hardly difficult for billion-dollar companies to incorporate this so I think Japan is making a great rule here next up is 3d menus when you pass by a restaurant you likely have no way of knowing what they served often you have to go in and browse for a paper menu now sometimes menus have pictures and that can be helpful but when a menu doesn't even have any pictures sometimes it's hard to tell what you worked well in Japan this is not a problem you can actually tell exactly what a restaurant has from outside the restaurant but not only that you can tell what it looks like and how big it is how do you do this you may be asking well it's simple restaurants in Japan actually display fake food that looks just like the real ones from their menu they also have what it is written next to it and a description but how amazing is that they have fake food as the menu this way you can know exactly what you're getting and order exactly what you want you don't have to second-guess a thing and you also don't have to go into the restaurant to find out what they serve they simply display it right in their window one Japanese forum user even said that when they were a kid they used to think it was real food I have to say the Foods in these windows do look very realistic if I honestly think this is an amazing idea that every restaurant around the world should start doing next up is bathroom info so there's nothing worse than walking into a public toilet and seeing that people being taken up it means you either have to awkwardly wait around or you have to leave the toilet well in Japan they have a system to make sure this never happens and it's all here on this screen this may look like a game of Tetris to the untrained eye but look closely you'll realize this is an electronic map of the toilets all of the pink toilets are occupied but all of the blue ones are vacant this lets you know exactly how many toilets are open and where they are I have to say this is a genius idea this is just another example of Japanese efficiency which is mind-blowing did you know that Japan was voted one of the most efficient countries on earth with inventions like this I can really see why I think they should implement this in every toilet I'm not exactly sure how it works but it does and also in Japanese toilets you get a proper door if you live outside of the USA this may sound normal but in the USA you can literally see into some public toilets so I really think the next country to have this invention should be America next up is gum paper so when you look at the streets of your city what do you see chances are you see lots of colored circles on the ground well in case you didn't know these are actually people's gum that they've spat out into the ground it's pretty gross pile it's true now of course every city encourages people to put their gum in the trash but some people don't do this sometimes it's out of laziness but sometimes people don't have any paper for their gun well in Japan this is not an issue that is because Japanese gum comes with small pieces of paper inside this way you can spit your gum into it when you finished and that's why when you look at a Japanese street you won't see any gum on the ground some countries like Singapore actually impose prison sentences on people who bring gum into the country but in Japan there's no need for this they simply came up with this amazing idea I think this should be little everywhere as it will make cities like way cleaner next up is mint pick so while we're on the subject of minty things why not have a look at Japanese toothpicks so when you go to a restaurant sometimes they give you a toothpick after your meal we only that toothpicks are simply sharp wooden sticks right well in Japan they go above and beyond somebody realized that every toothpick in Japan had a green tip at first they feel that was dirty or something but they soon realized it was simply a mint coated tip that's right the tips of toothpicks in Japan are actually coated with mint this gives a much better taste in your mouth and simply wood and it also freshens up your teeth and breath I think we should get rid of regular toothpicks and just use these now you may have seen these in other countries and if they do have these some certain restaurants around the world but did you know that these were actually invented in Japan and a super popular there more restaurants in Japan have mint toothpicks than regular ones and to be honest I think that should be an industry standard as these seem amazing have you guys never had a mint toothpick before and if so was it in Japan next up is bus strikes so sometimes in buses around the world strikes can happen now you may support the strikes I mean bus drivers should be paid a good amount right but it's no matter whether people support the strikes or not they usually very annoying that is because bus drivers usually don't show up to work during strike so you miss your bus this can cause people to not be able to get into work and works well in Japan bus drivers do strike only in a different better way bus drivers in Japan actually continue going into work and driving their routes this way people still get to where they need to be but you may be wondering how is this a strike well while the bus drivers do continue taking people to where they need to go they refuse to take fares that's right thank you for everyone free travel so the bus companies make no money this way this still on strike and can get their message across the bus drivers keep Japan on time but they also cost the bus monies gas company on top of lost revenue they think the entire world should protest like this it's an awesome way to get your message across and also the public's way more likely to support you as you're not inconveniencing them next up is rain warning how annoying is it when you step out if you're elevated to leave your office and then you see it's raining then you have to take the elevator all the way back up to the top floor to get your umbrella well in Japan this is not a problem that's right they've come up with a solution for this as well elevators in Japan actually have an umbrella sign that lights up if it's raining this way people know whether to take an umbrella down to the elevator with them this way people know whether to take an umbrella with them down the this must save a lot of unnecessary trips back up and forth to your office it rains a lot in Japan so this is a fantastic invention it really does seem like Japan is working on solving all of the world's little problems do you guys have anything like this in your buildings and if not would you want to have one next up is school cleaning so from this list it should be pretty obvious that Japan is very respectful and one of the ways they teach respect is by order and cleanliness but how the Japanese citizens learn this well they learn it at school at a very young age if you think about who cleans your school is likely the janitor but in Japan did you know that most schools don't even have janitors but somehow Japanese schools are still incredibly clean well this is because the kids are the chanters that's right the people who go to the schools in Japan cleaned them this way people make a lot less mess singers it's them cleaning it up and while in most countries kids wouldn't like this in Japan they love it and see it as a vital part of life I think some schools around the world could really take some tips from Japan ten products that only exist in Japan coming in at number 10 we have diagonal crosswalks so on some intersections there's zebra crossings to help you cross the road but if you have a four-way intersection sometimes you can't get across the main area of the road for example if you need to go diagonally from one corner to the other and it's even worse in countries like America where jaywalking makes this illegal well in Japan they came out with a quick fix face instead of you having to cross two roads they made diagonal crosswalks now this may slow traffic down a bit so it's not everywhere but in highly pedestrianised areas of cities like tokyo this is a thing that exists I have to say it's a pretty great idea which I think other countries should definitely adopt next up is water saving sink so this one may be a bit weird and in the first glance it may seem like a dumb invention but when you really think about it this is a stroke of genius and this is a dream product for those who care about the environment and saving water so when you wash your hands you waste a lot of water that's why I never do but a little serious you do waste a lot of Ortez it's simply going on your hands and then going right down into the sink well that is why in Japan they have these sinks which hook up to the toilet all the dirty water from washing your hands simply goes into the toilet supply tank you don't exactly need Fiji water to clean out a toilet so second use hand wash water will do just fine makes you utilize the water twice once to wash your hands and the second time to flush the toilet this may seem like an insane idea at first but it's actually genius once you think about it I guess all genius ideas are slightly crazy next up is silent karaoke do you love karaoke but your family doesn't well one japanese inventor came up with a solution to this any pokemon fans will know the same visit i'm in a place but with this invention the time and place to perform karaoke becomes anytime and anywhere you put this device in the areas like a pair of headphones and then sing into the tube this will then transmit your terrible karaoke singing only to your ears this means your family don't have to hear it around the house and amazingly you can even use this in public just imagine singing karaoke in public and nobody being able to hear it it's like having a superpower even though you look slightly ridiculous next up is lonely cafes you ever feel kind of alone I'm sure we all do and one of the worst things is coming to a cafe all by yourself it can be kind of awkward sitting alone in a cafe or restaurant you may pretend to be on the phone or write some notes to seem important but we all know your rooms that is why one japanese cafe came up with this idea if you're alone the staff will place a soft toy in front of you this means you're now not alone I'd have to say I'd be slightly more embarrassed sitting with a plush toy but I guess things are different in Japan but even a lot people share food drink and even conversations with their stuffed animals where do you ever go to this stuffed animal cafe coming up next is umbrella parking so how many times have you taken your umbrella into work and then you've lost it it's happened to us all and can be very annoying well that is why in many office buildings in Japan you get these umbrella parking stations here you simply lock up your umbrella so that nobody can take it and they also means that you can't misplace it like a locker room keys come with these and you simply take one out to lock up your umbrella now this invention may seem slightly pointless and I'm sure somebody could have made better use of their time but hey these seem to be being used and I bet if they put one in your place of work someone would use it next up is square watermelons so this is a staple of Japanese ridiculous inventions in every other country were pretty happy with our circular watermelons but Japan seems to like that sleek square aesthetic that is why many farmers grow watermelons in squares in Japan they simply grow them in clear square boxes which is how they get to be this way believe it or not there's not some magical square wolterman of plants out in Japan although that would be pretty cool you can buy these at many markets in Japan but be warned these are considerably more expensive than the regular watermelons this is because they take up way more space and maintenance seeing as they have to be kept in boxes next up is circular keyboards so some of these inventions are pretty cool and useful right take the diagonal crossing for example well I hate to break it to you but this invention is definitely not useful at all we all know that in Japan they have different characters and this means that there's not actually enough space on some keyboards to fit all the Japanese characters on well that is why some companies make these very strange circular keyboards these keyboards have every single character in the Japanese alphabet on them they may look pretty unsightly and hard to use but hey that's pretty cool next up is toilet slippers so what are you where to go to the toilet I'm gonna take a wild kiss and say your regular clothing right well in Japan things are a little different don't get me wrong you don't wear a tuxedo into the bathroom but they do have something called toilet slippers in Japan and believe it or not you'll see these in pretty much every home we all know the fact that your kitchen is dirtier than your toilet but in Japan they consider the bathroom to be the dirtiest place in the house even if it's clean that is why they wear special Footwear just for their bathrooms Japanese people don't wear shoes indoors but in the bathroom they make an exception seeing as it's seen as a very dirty place speak for yourself Japan next up is mouth napkins so this is a pretty dumb and hilarious invention but I suppose it's might come in useful for when you're okay it works in Japan they have these things called libération wrappers these are basically napkins that you put in front of your food you see Japanese women are afraid of seeming bad manners when enjoying a big mouthful of hamburger that is why when they have to open up their mouths wide to eat big foods they use one of these wrappers this makes it seem like they have their mouth closed now this may seem odd to us who loves shopping hamburgers down our mouths whether we're men or women but in Japan women find this rude so they use these instead next up is egg tubes so a lot of people like to mean eggs but it can be kind of a hassle making them up right well that is why in Japan somehow they've done it for you as you can see you can buy these rolls of eggs but make no mistake these are not egg rolls instead this is one long tube of egg now I don't know what kind of mutant chicken is making these seriously how enough for they cook an egg like this I don't want to know all I'm saying is this does not look that tasty where do you eat one of these big egg chips if you are in Japan if you want more videos check out my second channel they'll be a link to that on screen in a moment but as always thanks for watching check out some more videos on screen rights now leave like for you enjoyed and if you haven't really what you waiting for subscribe to top tens [Music]
