all right so the first two bevels are milled but I run into a problem this mill is really not built for I'm using it for its struggling it is you know breaking tools and stuff it's breaking everything this is the shell Melo is using and you can see all my cutters are I had a whole fresh pack of these things and the packer came with they're all essentially what happens is this thing is really not built for this it's not rigid enough and you sort of cutting away and will just blow at these things you know pretty quickly because I don't have a lot choice really I've been kind of pushing it through and forcing it to cut with chip that animals and it's it's working but oh boy it's really not liking it so I've ran it or inserts for this thing and I will not be able to get more within the time frame I need so my plan which could be really really bad but we're going to try it out is to use a fly cutter in the mill and essentially use this to cut our bevels now this is really not what it's designed for but I record if we're careful and we don't cut up and we take it slow and take slow cuts it'll work I've got another two packs of fresh inserts of this thing and I think that'll be the go this is also really not the cut is supposed to be using this like made for aluminium or something so you know fingers crossed it works and I don't you know go through another pack of carbide inserts we'll see I'm also more than a little bit concerned this thing is going to pull out of the holder because it's only held in by three little grub screws and basically turned into a flying carbide tip bullet so fingers crossed so don't die and hopefully these things don't flop and actually make a bit of money on these things yeah we've blown through a lot of money right now it's gonna be scary when I do math later and work out what exactly I spent on these things so fingers crossed it goes alright and we get some bevels cut make a little game on my table I professed popular size oh I don't know about you these are going to go really really well or I'm about to go tomorrow [Music] [Music] [Applause] so I've put all the bevels on these things machine an or machining is done now actually don't do that much milling but this might actually be more chips as it made my life put together yeah this is pretty much all the way full of titanium kind of just puts in perspective how much material you know we're actually removing these things to make them to a functional knife post on a grind these things since mate and six I figured the smart way to do things want to be with the jig so this is a jig I bought years and years ago and the idea is I've set it up so I can basically slap it on there and adjust it with this thing here and it's gonna be a reference there and then we can just clamp this down and start grinding the bevels so there's gonna be three things a it means I put a lot more pressure on these things when I'm grinding them only music ceramic abrasives and ceramic would really like some like heavy heavy force when you're grinding with them it helps break down the abrasive helps me you know so to say sharper longer so the more pressure I can put on these things like run better be it means the ground to get more consistent which is going to help because obviously I'm gonna get tired and doing you know six these things in one here and see it means my fingers aren't going anywhere near the grinders because I'm gonna be basically cracking these [ __ ] up to full speed and grinding with full pressure [Music] [Music] I guess it's getting quite hot hey but I thought I could smell burning [Music] so I figured we switch to premium shaky-cam right now to go through some of the things I've learned number one the Jake is a great idea it means that I can actually get to the side of this machine and put as much pressure on it as possible so what I've been doing is I kind of stand at the side over here and I come and stand to the side put as much force in there I can with both hands and put my whole body weight into grinding it that really helps because the abrasives very much like that the force that really helps them cut more aggressively and they sort of stay sharp the problem in having is that the obtaining will sort of heat up and make this layer like this this smeary layer and when that happens kind of causes your belt sort of glaze over and at that point you could hit it with a belt dressing stick which artisan suppliers commonly sent me to test out and that kind of helps rip back the belts but it's never back to us it wasn't you but yeah so the more force the better it really kind of helps you stop the belts glazing over and helps you keep as much life in there as possible and helps you cut quicker the second thing I spoke to the klingspor rap about this at the birth my show and he recommended because the ceramic belt goes fast as humanly possible and I imagine that advice is great for most things but we're making something pretty ridiculous and there's a lot of contact on that on that belt or in grinding removing a lot of material so the full speed wasn't working was getting the titanium ooh too hot and sort of smearing it I've backed the speed way down so normally I run it about 80 Hertz with ceramic which is screwing fast for a 25 and that really um it's really helping kind of make the other bells last longer and help me we can actually grind more with the belts kind of wish I figure that I like three blades ago but hey you know you're living loads [Music] now we're going to do is gonna use this grind here we're actually going to grind in this little area here so right now it's square and ugly and [ __ ] and we're just going to grind it make it a nice swoop which kind of looks a lot nicer looks more sleep pretty much it's not just just such a hard I'm abrupt angle which I just just don't like [Music] [Music] [Music] so good news all gnostic around died so now we're gonna do is gonna use this flat line here we're gonna smooth out all of these edges because i was really rough getting them in i'm just rough ground them in with like a contact wheel which leaves that sort of a that dish which you don't want so the flat plant is going to clean it up make it all nice for us [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so part two as it turns out it's just going to be the grinding episode I hope you like running because that's it for this part essentially you've seen we do so far is I've grown the bevels in I've grown the swedge into a nice finish and now what I want to do is sort of smooth at this is this back part here and what I want to do is sort of run this whole area off so sort of doing a quick champ for the high round what I want to do is I want actually round it so the whole things in your rounded up around here fully contoured it's going to take a heck of a lot longer it's being more time-intensive but for this something this special I want to spend the time and just make it feel really nice if I was a champ this is something like that you'd be quicker but it's just gonna feel or brick being Han and that's really what I what I want I want it to be smooth and comfortable and just want it's sort of melted your hand so we're gonna start off doing this with the contact wheel I'm gonna use this small little wheel right here and sort of use that to sort of begin sculpting this area here I'll switch the slack belt and really smooth it off and make it nice [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thanks for watching guys so right now we're at the stage where basically all the knives are at this sort of a raw stage just waiting for blade finishes and final and final finishes essentially as well as sheets and paint car by they're just sharpening so that's all going to be done in the next part as well as a little bit of testing so yeah thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next part [Music] [Applause] [Music]
