what we have here is a 1993 Mazda mx-5 this car in particular has a single coat of paint instead of a clear coat meaning it only has red paint and nothing on top of that to protect it from the elements and well as you can see in the footage this single coat of paint has taken a beating it suffers from a lot of contamination oxidation and it seems even some previous cleaning products have eaten themselves into the paintwork this means that we're going to have to do a full paint correction to restore the look of this mx-5 while not the main focus of this detail I first tackled cleaning the wheels the wheels were not super dirty so a quick layer of car pros are an X to break down dirt debris and brake dust followed by some soap and a few cleaning tools wasn't enough to get them looking like new again [Music] I then started giving the car a foam bath and let it sit for a few minutes allowing the foam to loosen up dirt and get it off the car with a little help of gravity after a few minutes it was time to rinse it with the pressure washer followed by a quick hand wash with the good old two bucket system after another quick rinse with the pressure washer it was time to bring a car inside again and see who we have left our first order of business now that the car is inside again is to decontaminate the paint with clay the clay is there to pick up any dirt and debris that is trapped inside the pain that you would normally not be able to get out with a regular car wash Annie was much needed as shown in the next clip after clay treatment it was time for a full multistage paint correction starting with a cunning pad and summons earn up 400 compounds this before-and-after is only after one run with my Rupa's bigfoot da polisher though in order to fully restore the paint i'll use one cutting pad to absorb the brunt of the contaminated paint and another to get rid of swirls and finer scratches and after many many hours of hard work the car looks miles better and in the process it shed a ton of that skin with even the floor starting to turn red then after a full treatment of man zurna 3500 on a finishing pad the car was lifted so i could clean the floor of the garage since there was a ton of dirt and old paint on the ground i wanted to clean the floor first before moving on to applying the ceramic coating cleaning the floor is not my favorite thing to do but really helps reduce the chance of dirt and dust getting in the way of the ceramic coating when it's trying to bond to the paintwork before we can do that though I'm first decreasing and cleaning the car one last time with an ISO profile based cleaner so the paint is a spotless as can be the ceramic coating in question is car pro C quartz UK 3.0 a consumer grade ceramic coating which provides up to two years of protection and isn't all that hard to apply I first add a couple of drops to the cloth and Pat and then slowly work it into one section of the paintwork after about one and a half minutes of curing time I wipe off the remaining residue and then we're off to do the rest of the car and after a night of letting the car sit inside and giving the ceramic coating plenty of time to bond to the paintwork it was time to finish it off with a spray sealant as a topper for further protection and shine and then last but not least some tire gel to finish it off this is what she looked like when I started [Music] and after about 25 hours of work this is the results and well just look at that the paint looks like it's brand new it's admittedly far from absolutely perfect but considering this is the original paint work on a 27 year old car I'd say it's not too shabby thanks a lot for watching me detail this Mazda mx-5 and have yourself a wonderful day
