Coliseum also known as the flavian amphitheater was an oval-shaped Arena built in Rome in the first century it was used for a variety of public spectacles including Gladiator battles animal hunts mock sea battles and well public executions the Coliseum had a complex system of underground tunnels and Chambers that were used to Stage these events the underground area was called the hypogeum which was a two-level Subterranean network of corridors staircases and rooms it was used to house Gladiators animals prisoners and other performers before they were brought up to the arena the hypogeum also included mechanisms such as elevators trapdoors and pulleys that were used to create special effects during the shows I I want to go there someday that's that's on my bucket list three Stonehenge England the exact purpose and meaning of the stone alignment at Stonehenge is still debated by experts but it's believed that they were placed in specific positions to align with the movements of the Sun and Moon some theories suggest that it was used as a place of religious or ceremonial importance While others proposed that it served as an astronomical Observatory or calendar 2.
