we're going to cover all the trim levels all the engine choices all the power trains for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma let's start with the base level Sr I was just at the launch in Hawaii the truck looks absolutely amazing and everything I'm bringing you is official information from Toyota we're going to start with the SR there are three versions of the engine we've got the base engine we've got the iForce and the iForce Max the base engine is the same as the iForce engine it is a 2.4 liter turbocharged engine that's been detuned so they're calling it the entry level you can get it with a manual transmission and in this particular configuration it's going to make 228 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque this is going to be the entry level it's going to be the cheapest no we don't have pricing yet but expect a bump of probably at least a thousand dollars maybe fifteen hundred dollars over the 2022 pricing or 23 model year the SR5 starts at about 28 000 and then you you go up all the way over to the TRD Pro which is about forty seven thousand dollars and then you do need to add destination and handling so tack on about another thirteen hundred dollars to get the final price so just a note the V6 is gone if you don't want the four cylinder turbo probably this is not the right truck for you the SR is the most entry level truck it is aimed I think at people who are trades people people who are contractors people who just want a basic work truck and want to spend the least amount of money possible but like something in this mid-size space but just know even though you're getting the exact same motor which is the 2.4 liter turbo engine as the rest of them it's going to be detuned for whatever reason they want you to upgrade that's how they're playing this game just keep in mind that the information that I'm giving you today it actually might change over time because these trucks have not been released these are initial spec sheets they had prototype Vehicles available we weren't able to drive them and so the options and packages and features that I'm describing here might not apply exactly when they release the production versions of these trucks now if you want the iForce engine you need to get the double cab which is the four-door cab the extra cab is the one that only has two doors I didn't actually see that and the iForce engine again 2.4 liter turbo it makes 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque so you're getting a lot more power and torque in this one and yes the only difference is tuning there might be some exhaust difference and maybe some Hardware difference but if you want the more powerful engine you're just going to have to pay a little bit more that's kind of the name of the game here now there's a couple other things with the SR that are specific to that or to the lower levels it comes with leaf spring rear suspension the higher trim levels you get coil springs in the back so kind of keep that in mind if you want to do some Towing you might want to stick with the leaf springs I'm going to leave that up to you towing experts I'm not a towing expert in front of the driver you only get a seven inch gauge cluster and only an 8 inch LED multimedia display so that's what I know about the SR let's move about let's talk talk about the SR5 which you can get in double cabin extra cab so the extra cab again is the two-door which we weren't actually shown I'll see if I can put up a photograph of that the double cab is the four-door version with a couple back seats and they are not very big this is not an F-150 this is not a Dodge Ram this is not a Tacoma this has got a relatively small back seat in fact I think the Ford Maverick might have a slightly bigger back seat than this the big difference here is that the iForce engine is standard it's pretty much standard on all of the trim levels going up and you can get the multi-link rear suspension with the double cab model so no leaf springs in here and you do get the leaf springs if you want them on the extra cab models again that's the two door you get Twin Tube shocks you get a shock upgrade you get 17 inch alloy wheels Toyota is bringing back the pre-runner badge and it's going to be a fairly limited probably a harder to get truck in my opinion it's going to be rear-wheel drive only and it's gonna have some rear enhancements such as the rear electronic locking differential you get 17 inch all-terrain tires with this as well and this is going to be only in the extra cab only in the two-door model the pre-run originally came out I think around 1998 and I think they discontinued it around 2015. correct me if I'm wrong on that and what we're getting is this sort of classic formula of some off-road bits but rear wheel drive to keep the cost down of course now we're getting a turbocharged engine which is going to have a lot more torque than the outgoing V6 does so this is the two-door only you're getting no rear seats but Toyota promises lots of internal lots of storage capabilities and different compartments and things like that in the rear cab area I'm not sure how easy or difficult it's going to be to get to that's going to be remain it's going to remain to be seen until we can actually see the truck you are getting the rear leaf springs but you do get a towing capacity of 6 500 pounds and you are going to get what I think are going to be BF Goodrich all-terrain tires all the way around too and you're getting a little bit of a lift kit compared to the SR and the SR5 and Toyota didn't supplies with the weight of any of the Tacomas but considering the current ones are at around 4 000 pounds to start I think we can probably expect to see something kind of similar maybe a slight increase because that's pretty typical for manufacturers nowadays the TRD sport in this gorgeous blue was the only vehicle they had there that had the manual transmission which means you get the eye Force Max Engine with that that's the only way you can get it and you do have the capability of 4x4 now too I'm not positive if you're going to be able to get this in a two-wheel drive version but pretty much as far as I know everything from this trim level up I think is a four by four at least as an option and there are two kinds of 4x4 systems available you get a four by four with a two speed transfer case and electronically locking rear differential there's also a full-time 4x4 system and this one has a center locker and you get the electronically lockable rear differential as well next up we have the TRD off-road this is sort of a TRD Pro light with less features in it currently it starts at around thirty six thousand four hundred dollars again expect to bump up from there you can get either the eye force or the I force Max Hybrid engine and now you get Bilstein monotube remote Reservoir shock so these are gonna be more capable for more off-roading situations you're going to get a little bit of a lift kit and now you get multi-terrain select which is Toyota's electronic management system for different types of terrain that's going to automatically apply power where it needs to go depending on the mode that you select and the wheel slip and all those kinds of things it sort of takes that into account to give you the best Traction in an automated fashion you do get standard the electronically locking rear differential and this is the lowest model where you can get sway bar disconnect which is something that you want to use for more extreme off-roading sort of rock crawling type situations where you want to have a height difference between the left tire and the right tire now moving up to the limited this is the double cab only and this is their more luxury focused more City focused version of the vehicle again we are getting a different suspension setup for this this one has the Adaptive variable suspension so this is designed you're going to be able to take it off-road but this is designed I think more for people who want to look good in the city and have a very capable offer road vehicle that has a little bit more luxury to it the full-time 4x4 system is available in the limited and what you do get is Chrome accents and you get 18 inch chrome style wheels probably not what you want for off-roading you get power running boards which is kind of a nice thing that helps you get into the truck a little bit easier you get the signature headlights I think they're specific to the Limit and you get a heads up display for the first time in this series of vehicles and you get heated and cooled front seats kind of nice and you get the JBL audio system and as you're moving up in these different trim levels you get more cameras available including a 360 degree camera which allows you to see the simulated view all the way around the vehicle that's going to be really super helpful when you are going off-road and also just when you're parking the trail Hunter is a brand new trim package for the Tacoma not available before and this is a an off-road kind of a over Landing type vehicle it's people who want to go camping hiking fishing and all that kind of stuff and I want to go out and basically spend a couple days in the wilderness that's who it's aimed for they co-developed the suspension with ARB and it has old man emu shocks on it and it also comes with rigid lighting I don't know the price on this but I'm going to assume it's going to be over 42 43 000 just a guess that's sort of based on the trail special edition that they have right now what you get in the bed is a 2400 watt AC outlet so you can power your rock parties where you're going to play AC DC yeah you also get an air compressor so when you're airing down your tires you can fill them back up without having to pull out your little portable unit that seems like a pretty nice feature to have now the trail Hunter is only available with the iForce Max engine which means you can only get it with the 8-speed automatic transmission and you get these bronze accents which I think look pretty cool you get an electronically activated rear locking differential so you also get sway bar disconnect and the rear differential is automatically locking and presumably unlocking two there's going to be just more features and settings for your different 4x4 settings I guess you could say here you get three hot stamped steel skid plates you get it for the front you get it for the transmission and you also get it for the rear axle you do get the 33 inch Goodyear all-terrain tires and you get a Toyota bronze Heritage logo up front you get a high mounted air intake for forwarding those huge big streams you get rock rails also so this is going to be the more ready to go rock crawling version of the Tacoma so the TRD Pro is obviously the Big Daddy the top gun at least in terms of off-roading whereas the trail Hunter is sort of aimed at over Landing this is more inspired by high-speed desert running so you only get the front aluminum skid plate with this it's a little bit lighter I think you get the biggest lift kit on this tune you get the most aggressive fender flares for the TRD Pro and you get something which is exclusive which is this ISO Dynamic seat this is a very cool piece of tech where you've got four shocks in it for vertical and lateral motion it is oil over air so basically you fill it up these tubes with a Schrader pump like just with an air pump and you can fill it up and you can turn it off when you go back on normal roads and it's supposed to keep your head level supposed to keep your body with a little bit less Motion in it so it's really absorbing those high speed bumps when you're blazing over those Canyon Trails at high speed is it a marketing gimmick or not I tend to think probably a little bit of both it certainly looks super cool if you want these seats you have to get the TRD Pro and they told me at least the lead engineer for the Tacoma told me that it's actually pretty effective Toyota is not the first manufacturer to do this but this seems like some pretty nice Tech in a mid-sized truck now the current TRD Pro starts at about forty eight thousand dollars I think we're going to be bumping over 50 for this new one is my guess now what you're getting of course is Fox shocks with a room remote Reservoir these are the new qs3 they are three-way shocks with they've got an internal bypass in there so when the when you get too much fluid from a stroke it's going to move out into the reservoir and it's going to reduce the amount of heat that builds up internally and that's really important if you're driving quickly or you're doing a lot of aggressive driving you can really heat up the shocks and so that's going to help the shocks avoid the fluid from foaming up what's also pretty cool is on the rear bump stops you get something called internal floating Pistons so this is basically a bump stop with a little bit of a piston in it so when you hit it it's going to when you bottom out it's not going to be quite as hard it's going to absorb that impact too so this is I think their most I'm not going to say it's their most advanced system but it is their most capable system in terms of driving a little bit quicker off-road you also get 33 inch Goodyear territory RT tires you get a rocker panel protector now you've got this two-tone roof you get this Toyota Heritage badge with an integrated LED light bar these are rigid fog lamps in there you get an ARB steel stamped rear bumper and you get red super cool recovery Hooks and of course you get the TRD Pro signature LED tail lamps now all these trucks are based on the tnga F platform that's common with the tundra and also the Sequoia this of course is a body on frame style truck it has a ladder style steel construction suspension so this is going to be a fairly tough truck it's going to weigh a fair bit and of course they have strengthened it compared to the current generation compared with the Ford Ranger or the ranger Raptor which is a much much softer sort of more flowy looking design I think this really hits the mark and what I like about it is they did not go with the tundra we're trying to be an American style truck they kept the thin narrow Grille they increased the height of this thing too so now you have a very very big large air dam below it so that is going to improve your Highway MPG but you can take that off with just I think six or eight bolts when you're ready to go off-roading so you're going to have a little bit more clearance and not have to worry about that huge big air dam and these things are basically lifted trucks from the factory when you get into the more off-road style trims my apologies if I got anything wrong there's a lot of information on these new trucks as Toyota comes out with more information I'm going to update you click over here for another video let me know if you have any questions let me know what grade you're going to get and thanks for watching
