2024 Reading Journal Setup | Witchy and Dark Academia

hello guys and welcome to another video in this one we are making my reading Journal spreads for 20124 for this upcoming year I will use this notebook from notebook therapy not sponsored by the way and this one is the suuki Vintage Rose in the original size that is a little bit smaller than an A5 which is sold out at the moment but I will link it down below [Music] I read a lot this past year considering that I didn't like to read at all before 2023 and reading almost 30 books is very good on my say so in the past year I started a reading Journal as well and I really like the experience and the fact that I use more stationary in this notebook besides my bullet Journal so I decided to continue and start a new one for next year for this setup I went for a dark Academia theme kind like I did for my bullet Journal setup in the last video so if you like this theme go check it out for the cover page I wanted to give it a scrapbooking look with some ephemera and stickers I will try to link everything that I can in the description so I pre-made this collage because I will take so much time making this cover if I didn't plan [Music] ahead starting on the left side I'm drawing this Frame around the key which contains the star rating and spice rating because I love to read books with some spice in there I will use almost same pens throughout all the setup so the Stabilo fine liner in brown and Zine Liners in mild pige mild Brown and Mild cream for star rating one star means terrible two stars means that I didn't like it three don't want to read again four it's very good and five means that I loved it and want to read again for spice rating one means the book doesn't have spice at all two has spice but no detail three not too explicit four explicit and has some Kinks and five is very [Music] hot I want the frame to look like those very detailed and vintage ones that you see on a museum or Arts Gallery but at the same time easy enough to draw so after seeing some frames on pin I came up with this design which is pretty simple to do just have to make sure that everything is centered and the [Music] [Music] line and now it's time to glue every piece piece of the gush to make the [Music] cover almost all of the ephemera and stickers that I use in this setup are from Journal say so I will link everything that I can find down below [Music] [Music] [Music] lookie give it more of a vintage Vibe I made the title with the stamps but instead of black I used this brown ink pad and wrote journal in this [Music] font moving on to my reading goals spread in this one I twisted a little bit so instead of only marking the number of the book that I completed I'm going to paint the number in the color of the star rating so in the end of the year I can see how many five stars for example I read in 2023 my goal was 20 books and as I'm recording this me December I read 28 books thus far so I made my goal for 2024 42 books I decided to keep it in reach because I want to be realistic and since this upcoming year is going to make me very busy I don't want to overwhelm myself with some goal that I can reach so I'll make some space below for bonus books if I want [Music] [Music] as you can see in the top right corner I'm making little boxes with a star rating and the correspondent color since I pretty much know which genre and tropes I like in a book I give it mostly three to five stars each book unless I try something new so I picked neutral colors for these three ratings to keep everything more subtle in the [Music] [Music] end [Music] for the decorations I use this brown plate paper and this green paper as [Music] [Music] well [Music] and to finish I used some of these gold transparent constellations washi tape from stationary p and also a [Music] sticker I know on camera it looks like I'm not doing anything but I'm actually giving the leaing a subtle drop shadow with the mild cream to make it pop a little more at least [Music] personally in my reading Journal I have a TBR list but I saw Ain Smith reading Journal setup I'll link her Channel down below and she calls it maybe next instead of TBR and I actually like it a lot more because it takes away some of the pressure to read these specific books I will glue the book covers and also star rating off [Music] [Music] camera next to my maybe next list I made a dnf Tracker so I actually have some books that I didn't finish for some reason and I want to write down the book and the author so in the future I can decide if I want to give it another shot or if I want to buy other books from that author I used the same design to draw the frame around the table but not so detailed I wanted to keep this page more simple and easy to [Music] use you keep it cohesive with the rest of the spreads I made the titles of the table with the stamps in the same brown ink [Music] for the decorations they are pretty much the same but I wanted to use these stickers from sticky not sponsored by the way they have this dark in vintage style and I think that it looks really good with with the [Music] [Music] steam it's time for my favorite spr read of this setup which I didn't make in my last reading Journal because it's pretty much a decorative page but I think it's really cute and so much fun to make and of course I'm talking about my books R [Music] page in this one I drew a bookshelf also with the same motifs as the previous frames and two shelves on the other page this bread I'm going to decorate with stickers and as the year goes on I will paint and write the name on every book in these shelves I picked a random number of books to draw because obviously I don't know how many books I'm going to read so if I don't feel all of them I'm just going to paint the rest to make this spread look [Music] complete besides the dark Academia theme I wanted to incorporate some witchy stuff in this setup because my birthday is on Halloween and I sort of have a connection to creepy stuff and I really like wit aesthetic so why not combine both of [Music] them [Music] [Music] with this spread done now we're going to make my book of the Year spread or book bracket this is really simple to do and explain there is many ways of making this spread but I like to use it this way so we start with a space for every month and to make it more simple I combine two months at a time so January versus February March versus April May versus June and so on I pick my favorite book between January and February and this book will compete with my favorite from March and April the same for the other months and in the end there will be three final ists one book for every trimesters and between these three I will pick my favorite of the entire year I saw many people use it differently but I was inspired by the same way Elizabeth from plant-based bride did it so I wanted to [Music] try [Music] [Music] and to finish this page I glue this Frame where I'm going to put the cover for the winner [Music] book [Music] next is the new releases spread in here there will be all of the books from my favorite authors there will be released in 2024 so I don't forget some books that I want to read when they come out this spread works like a calendar of sorts and to make it pretty I made a frame around each MTH but without motifs to keep it more simple and easy to [Music] [Music] draw in this one I decided to make a horizontal Dutch door so I wouldn't have to draw the title twice and I think it looks pretty [Music] good [Music] since I covered white top part of the pages with this brown tape I had to draw the title on a separate paper sheet that I had around and glue it on top I kept the decorations minimal because I will paint the boxes and I use this sticker sheet from sticky which have these adorable typewriters and another sticker sheet with this convenient NE Rivals [Music] board [Music] [Music] go [Music] [Music] I already did the book of the Year spread but I wanted to also have a top five of 2024 because I know it's going to be very hard to pick a favorite so here I can pick at least five of them [Music] [Music] it's [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I use the same constellations washi tape and the brown shered paper for the decorations and also a book and Lantern sticker [Music] I did the same Challenge on my previous reading journal and I didn't do it properly so this time I'm going to do it right and this this is a alphabet challenge so this is a challenge very common in the reading Journal community and the purpose is for writing the title of the book you read in the letter that it begins so for example the book Twisted Love by Anna Wang is for the letter T Ice Breaker by Anna Grace is for I and so on until you checked all the letters of the alphabet [Music] [Music] [Music] to I did the same thing for the title as I did for the new releases spread because here the title is going to be behind the washi tape so I had to make it separate from the page for it to stand [Music] [Music] out next is the read the rainbow challenge to complete this one I have to read a book that has the cover in the color of the rainbow so for example I have to read a book that has the majority of the cover in blue I also made a space for black and [Music] white [Music] on the right page I did a bingo I actually never did one in my reading Journal so I'm going to try this year so for the spaces I wrote a 33 book reread the fave includes song lyrics recommended by a friend murder mystery a classic dark Academia Fair tale retelling number in the title 2024 release set on an island black and white cover over 600 Pages character with a red hair sets during an holiday made into a movie a standalone dual POV one word title and two people on the [Music] [Music] cover [Music] moving on to my book series tracker here I'm going to obviously track any series that I start or I am continuing this year so in the table is the name of the series on the left and books completed on the right I'm going to start painting a box from right to left every time I finish a book from that series I didn't draw the bottom of the table because I don't know how many series I'm going to track so I want to have space to make a flip out if I need [Music] it [Music] go [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] here comes a spread that I didn't know I needed which is my early stats these two pages are only going to be filled in the end of 2024 and here I'm going to track the genre of the book so for example romance mystery fantasy Etc then the format if I read more paperbacks art covers or ebooks I don't listen to audiobooks so I don't think they are going to be part of the tracker then the writing if I read more four stars or three star books Etc books per month so how many books I read each month the total of books read and the pages my favorite book least favorite the the longest and the shortest book then the type so if I read more stalon or part of the series and the M of my rits if it was more dark funny sad [Music] Etc this next spread took so long to make and this is my favorite quotes bread so in the end of the year I'm going to see the quotes that I picked as my favorites from each book and I will pick 14 to be in these little [Music] frames [Music] [Music] it's time for my reading log and each time I start a book I will mark down in this table the title the author the number of pages when I started and finished the book and the rating I also didn't draw the bottom of the table for the exact same reason as for my series [Music] struer [Music] [Music] for the final spread of this setup I made a quarter review of the year of some sorts I'm going to fill a frame when I finish a book with the cover the title the author the series if it is part of one the number of pages the genre and the format and I'm also going to write a little review of the book I know I will annotate some of these things in the reading log but it's more easy to see the genres and formats here and then F the 2024 stats now it's time for the final flip through and you will see that I changed some decorations because I wanted to give it more witchy
