the NFL draft is complete Hayden Winks has gone into the lab with the fine tooth comb gone through most nearly every single draft pick by all the teams and come up with grades and today Hayden we start off with the NFC H how would you summarize this weekend for you there were some Headliners on the first day and I think it was kind of chalky other other than that obviously we'll get to the Michael penck stuff but uh The Landing spots for Fantasy we'll get to on next week's show when you go position by position today I want to take kind of a bigger picture step just look at how each team is operating what's their goals what's their process how does player actually fit and I'm going to use my top 100 rankings to kind of grade these teams that means I'm spending like the top four rounds and that's where my focus is I don't know the day day three players that well to be honest love that a few housekeeping notes as Hayden said next week early next week dynasty rankings for all of you for these rookies for your Dynasty drafts you love them we love creating them then after that because best Ball Mania 5 is launching here very very soon uh we will have early positional rankings for you for quarterbacks for running backs for wide receivers for Titans all of them so you can dominate these early drafts and take advantage of ADP so if we don't cover every single factoid about these teams or about all these players guess what we have a whole bunch of content coming up yes and by the way bestl Mania is gonna be massive again1 15 million it's my favorite structure of beste Ball Mania that we've come up with so if you guys are new here download the app promo code the show uh we'll give you some bonus money on top of it correct and all that best ball is is you draft for 18 rounds and that is your team you never touch it ever easy so rather than just one that you have that you draft in August you can start drafting in May you can start drafting in June in July the entire summer and odds are you can probably draft better than Terry F now okay how this show is going to go again it's the NFC we'll be producing an AFC version of this in just a few hours NFC we're going to start off really in how their order was in the first round but obviously go through all of their selections so that means we kick things off with Bears Chicago Bears first overall pick quarterback kayin Williams ninth pick Rome Odun 11th pick in the third round Yale tackle Karan a is how we're going to give his name Iowa punter y Taylor in the fourth round and Kansas Edge rusher Austin Booker in the fifth round this is an A plus draft to me just because the first two picks everything beyond that doesn't matter like truthfully doesn't matter the drafting punters out there by the way nobody has more experience than the Iowa punter hopefully he doesn't have to punt as often but Caleb Williams to us was the best Prospect in a very long time you said since Andrew Luck I haven't been a long a long long enough to go back that far but he is absolute dynamite and then to pair him with Romo dun who might not be super productive as a rookie just because they have DJ Moore they have Keenan Allen it's Caleb Williams first year but romad dun is going to be a longtime High high-end producer an X receiver which is super hard to find and they're going to be matched up for a decade uh if everything goes correctly I thought that Roman dun can kind of do everything and when Caleb Williams needs the Easy Button eventually he can just throw this thing up to romad duni so for him to slide past the Giants I thought was as good of a draft pick as the Bears could have made they didn't expect romad dun to be there uh from Ryan poles a quote we would have thought we were crazy if we could get romad dun at nine he can line up anywhere finish and contest situations what they do to prepare for these situations is their Pro Staff their Pro scouting staff goes and evaluates the team needs of every single other franchise then the analytics department will go in and put percentages of the likelihood of player Falls to them at their pick and they said it was 5050 that radun was going to be there heck of a two off seasons for the Chicago Bears and Hayden for a team that has just five total Selections in a draft this is a well constructed organization to place a rookie into as you said two experienced and one fantastic pass catcher an offensive line that you add a first- round pick to last year and then continue to work with this Braxton Jones who has worked fine in the past but then at the same time you know maybe work in this rookie and see how if he can take over at some point this season if not heading into 2025 and then the Montes sweat deal during uh the trade deadline uh I think Ryan Pauls has done a fantastic job in a very short two window period have this team be a very competitive unit in 2024 I guess we can forgive him for the chase clay poool trade um other than that it's gone well by the way this third third third round tack Le comes from Yale he's an Ivy League leager he's coming off of a torn quad which adds another layer of how unique this profile is he's 6 fo5 323 pounds 36 arms so in terms of like NFL size absolutely has it on tape the athleticism shows up he split between left tackle and left guard which is nice if you're going to be a developmental prospect it's better to have positional flexibility so he's probably going to be a backup to Braxton Jones at left tackle maybe long term there's a legit competition for him but is coming off an injury and then that last pick they had was to come trade into the draft just because uh he was kind of falling according to their draft boards uh so I even liked that move uh but for five picks I think we'll look back at this draft and say this is what changed the Bears franchise around the best quarterback that they'll have and the the best three wide receiver Set uh in Bears history and one of the best uh in the NFL already I I can't wait for people to see Caleb Williams inside just the rhythm of an offense yeah you know because he's had to play herob ball this past season at USC and just working in a Shane walren offense with some more proos so concepts by also throwing down the field a ton uh but just you know working in the confines of the pocket and going from one to two to three climb the pocket let's let's get rid of it it's going to be a joy to watch one final note you mentioned Chase Claypool I think a beat writer maybe had him in mind when asking this question to Ryan poles uh and almost uh praising him saying that hey you move on from bad picks and bad players very quickly how did you pick this up because a lot of other decision makers across the league do not Ryan poles said yeah I would rather well he said this conversation I once had with Matt Ryan because he played with him um Matt said that everyone in the locker room knows when you're just keeping a player on your roster yeah so it doesn't look like you're not making a mistake or did not make a mistake so it's better just to get rid of that and move on and put it in the rearview mirror which I look it's kind of been difficult to know who Bri Ryan PES is because he's a very fresh face I would say in the general manager world but what he's done through these first two years you really can't argue with yep sunk cost FY don't make sure you're not applying it to your own life commanders the Washington commanders with the second overall selection took quarterback Jen Daniels the fourth pick of the second round defensive tackle Jers on Johnny Newton 18th pick and in the second round Mike sandr still a Niel Corner out of Michigan the 21st pick in the second round Ben sinate the athletic tight end out of Kansas State and after that an offensive guard Brandon Coleman out of TCU Luke mcaffrey was the final pick pick 100 the wide receiver out of rice then at a Tempo linebacker Jordan meie a safety in Dominique Hampton and an edge in the seventh round javante Jean Baptist so that's six top 100 picks so this team got way better how they used those picks wasn't my I'm going to give them a B minus they're obviously rolling the dice with Jaden Daniels if he can stay healthy and then he if he can actually pass the ball and more than 50% of his pressure dropbacks I think that Jaden Daniels could be a really special player I like his fit with Terry McLaren and Johan Dodson and eventually Luke mcaffrey because he wants to throw the ball in slot Fades I think those two wide receivers are a fit there what I was hoping for was an answer to left tackle and they didn't really get that the 67th overall pick brand and Coleman he was a reach if you're looking at his boards he wasn't supposed to go until a pick 114th so he went at 67th overall so that was one of the bigger reaches out there they did scoop up a ton of value Johnny Newton I thought was going to be a first rounder most people did he slid to the second round they were able to scoop him up Mike Sanders still just a nickel Corner always around the ball a little bit undersized out of Michigan there but I think just kind of zooming out I wanted them to come away with a sturdy left tackle they weren't able to trade into round one to make that happen and then just for for my grades I would have taken Drake May ahead of Jaden Daniels I want to Nick them just one little spot there as well when you look at their depth chart on irids there are so many players names that are either green or yellow that are in their first or second string so it kind of outlines the transitional phase that the Washington commanders are going through right now so many new starters are going to be on this team in 2024 and it would be stunning if all of them hit the hit the ground running but the three second round picks I understand the thought process through all of those um they had a first round grade on Johnny Newton according to Adam Peters he was a team captain they give them the commander tag that's the same for Jane Daniels that's the same for Mike sandrell he called him an advanced player meaning he can step in immediately and play to me that would mean they would have to play more three interior defensive line sets because you have Jonathan Allen and you also have donon Payne which would be interesting Personnel to try out there defensively they would move Newton out as an edge rusher on occasion so that might be a way that they could do that all those three guys are so such freaky players I think they will figure out a way to do that but it is interesting he it wasn't the most glaring team need team need versus best player available I would understand scooping up the value with Johnny dun so I'm not going to hold that against him and the NFL really let us know that they prioritize athletes at the tight end position there were only two selected on day two and Bon it was one coming out of Kansas State uh Adam Peters who has spent time in San Francisco said he reminds me of kuse cheek and George KD in the way that he blocks the same mindset he can block from anywhere you can put him at the end of the line of scrimmage and he can block a defensive end or you can move him at fullback and ask him to do some split flow action get him out in space as well and he can be mean after the catch and beat man coverage as well y these tight ends cliff kingsberry new guy in Washington obviously cliff and Zack Herz have some history but Zack hers didn't even play football right last year you know so getting a young athletic tight end where special tight ends or special athletes in the league uh that's going to be on my radar 100% during drafts this summer I liked him more as a sleeper than the 53rd overall player but I do understand he checks a lot of boxes they 77th percentile in production to me like you said he kind of does look like a fullback and I think he worn 34 um but he's kind of got this like huge upper body inconsistent hands to me he was a great athlete at the combine sometimes he looks a little bit more lumbering than like a crazy athlete but yards after the catch get him out to the flats I think he can do all that and has a size to kind of hold up as well so I liked him more as like a round three sleeper than a solidified second round pick but he probably should have been the number two tight end yeah again only two tight ends were taken in round two only one in round one and we know the ones in round two were extremely good athletes and then the rest were just pushed into day three again I believe the NFL understands athletic as a matters of the position before we move on we need to talk a little bit about Jaden Daniels he was asked finally could he could he could reveal it when this team decided that Jaden Daniels was going to be the quarterback um he said it was when they had one-on-one meetings with him when when they spent that extra time with him it was unanimous inside of the building um no questions about his toughness or his durability his durability was coming up a lot in questions from the uh the media but they also called him the best deep ball thrower in the draft uh and that when he runs he takes the soul out of the defense which was one perfect way of putting it I felt yeah I think both of those statements were pretty true his accuracy downfield was one of his calling cards to me obviously you can't teach that speed I'm not sure we can call him durable yet we have to wait until the games get played uh before happens but he hasn't missed much time uh in college so he's got the upside to hit just the pressure rate scares me when you don't have a left tackle the tackle that they took out of TCU played a lot of guard at TCU he's not like this straight up left tackle Prospect uh and that's going to be the the one problem perhaps for the rookie season of jayen Daniels is an offensive line that's most likely G to be below average totally and I did not watch a single snap of Luke mcaffrey in preparation for the NFL draft I will ahead of our Dynasty ranking show so I have no comments there and one final bit on Washington since this is you know a new general manager and he does things his own way he talked about how on ahead of day three he allows every single area Scout to nominate one player that they want to draft on day three that is still left on the board they call it the commander caucus which like I think we can have some better marketing out there but I I think that's a very uh I would wonder how many teams are willing to do that because Adam Peter said we will Target those players specifically right yeah I think somebody said that GMS make the decisions on day one and day two and then area Scouts make the decisions on the last day Cardinals oh the Arizona Cardinals we know that they kicked off the NFL draft with the fourth selection Marvin Harrison junor at wide receiver their second first round pick 27 Edge defensive lineman Darius Robinson out of Missouri Max Melton the corner out of Ruckers in the second round third round they had four selections running back Trey Benson Isaiah Adams a tackle tip Ryman the other tight end on day two Elijah Jones a corner and they finish things out on day three with players like drien Taylor demerson Xavier Thomas and Christian Jones at safety edge and offensive tackle I'm giving them a B+ obviously you can't go wrong with Marvin Harrison we've obviously talked about them everyone should know who Marvin Harrison is but it's exactly what they needed he he and Kyler Murray and try McBride that's all you need to run a a functional passing offense in my opinion um I think where I had some questions is Darius Robinson you kind of mentioned a kind of a tweener is the tackle is the an edge rusher you have to have a plan and the Cardinals historically have drafted these hybrid guys without much success obviously it's a totally different regime we can't hold that against him but he doesn't have like the athleticism to be a true Edge he's got the dog to be a defensive tackle maybe pass uh Rush the passer from inside but that was kind of a player I struggled with I personally didn't have him as a first round pick that said I loved Max Melton this corner out of Ruckers his athleticism is awesome uh he could play some man coverage out there but his athletic traits were super um they kind of stood out to me I think a lot of the corners uh were more Zone guys maybe nickel guys and I think that Max melon was one of the only guys on day two that can actually hang out on the perimeter and play some man covered so he was one of the players I was highest on versus consensus and he actually went ahead of where I had him but I think that was a pretty smart pick on the defensive side it's really only I would say and maybe Cardinal fans disagree with me Buddha Baker as the one real playmaker like the pillar player on that defense and it's just like a bunch of guys a bunch of dudes but maybe that's how where they want to build their roster a little bit like Jonathan Ganon can get the most out of a scheme with and this is how they really characterize Darius Robinson as someone who doesn't care about what his jersey number is or Hokey Pokey this and that he just wants he wants guys who uh pay the price of admission is the phrasing that he used like lunch paale he is so into phrasing uh as you all can tell I go back and watch all these post draft press conferences and Jonathan Ganon has these phrases these Motts these words that he basically just wants them to be uh lunch paale Blue Collar types yeah classic I don't like those phrases for a first round pick you know that's where I'm kind of coming from with this um and then moving forward obviously for for Fantasy Channel Trey Benson was the big pick uh on day two he goes just where we kind of expected him to go he is like exactly the lightning to James Conor Thunder to steal another phrase uh potentially right from Jonathan Ganon 67% of his carries which is a lot were pointed to the outside obviously that makes sense when you have his speed Trey Benson's never been a bcow I'm not expecting him to completely aant James Conor who by the way LED all of NFL uh in yards after contact just last season I'm expecting a one-two punch this year and then James Conor he'll move out of the way and then we'll see what Trey Benson could do as like a potential bcow two years from now so obviously tons of upside um but not gonna probably be a starter uh as a rookie yeah and I actually thought Trey Benson showed some flashes in the receiving game too he had that one awesome uh pinning catch against Clon on the wheel route to his left side they said nothing not a single word about Trey Brenson in the press conference not how he's going to fit with James Connor not they weren't even asked about it and like this these are the Nuggets that that we need you know and and go ahead it's the Cardinals the beat reporters not not many of them I will say I I've been looking as Ro to World Alum this we can kind of grade who's got the best beat reporters Cardinals we might need to go to Phoenix and ask some questions ourselves that that'll be a different show but totally with you uh the man has quads for days and is just super explosive and as we said it can be really diff difficult to create explosive plays and especially I'm not saying that Hollywood Brown was a pure success with the Arizona Cardinals but this team lacks some downfield speed you know we love Marvin Harrison Jr both of us had him as the number one wide receiver in this class but his calling card is not we're going to hit 4050 yard touchdowns right down the field it is still explosive gains of 15 plus yards but it's in the tradition X bully you beat you with routes that type of stuff so I am slightly concerned that there's no big Dynamic downfield threat but the combination of Marvin Harrison Jr and Trey McBride and Kyler Murray and then this backfield is definitely enough for this team to be really really enticing in 2024 and you've mentioned it this coaching tree is going to Pepper the tight end position col McCoy talked about that on our draft stream as well so it's going to be TR McBride and Marvin Harrison I will say real quick last note on the the Cardinals here their last couple picks there all four of them uh the of the first second third and fourth rounds they were not top 100 players in consensus so they were all relative reaches I don't have a strong opinions on them because I haven't watched these guys uh but compared to consensus boards their last four picks that I was grading uh were deemed a little bit Rich could you tell the people why we should value consensus boards yeah so 100 opinions are is better than one opinion and that's just kind of how life works so uh that's how I use that's like my first step when I'm doing my rankings is download the consensus rankings and then make adjustments for there obviously there's going to be some things that we get wrong on the outside that we don't have access to the pukaa those types of things but for an example the team that reaches the most over the last decade is the Raiders there you go I think that's really well said and we even glossed over the tit end that they took and talk so highly of Trey McBride it's because this tight end is like 280 pounds and is going to be an inline blocker so to be honest this might free up Trey McBride even more yeah for sure I agree Giants with the six pick the Giants took wide receiver Malik neighbors the 15th pick in the second round safety Tyler nubin coming out of Minnesota the sixth pick of the third round Andrew Phillips a corner out of Kentucky they had their own athletic tight end early in fourth round with Theo Johnson and then one of our favorite picks one of our favorite players who will get to I'm sure the 31st pick of the fifth round we got that fifth round draft Capital Hayden Tyrone and Tracy the running back out of Purdue and they closed things out with the linebacker from UCLA Darius muasa so Malik neighbors versus romad dun was and JJ McCarthy was the decision there I didn't think they were going to be a JJ McCarthy team I'm not sure if he was like guaranteed to be much better than Daniel Jones or whoever they were going to be be able to bring in the next offseason and they for sure needed a wide receiver especially we can probably assume that Darren Waller is going to retire think that Theo Johnson pick is another signal towards that so they needed weapons so once they kind of locked into the receivers romad dun the traditional X receiver that they're missing or the more explosive Malik neighbors I would have drafted Malik neighbors as well it might be a little bit bad news for w Del Robinson because Malik neighbors are gonna play the slot I think that's where wand Robinson can only play uh darus Slayton is going to be the ex- receiver at some time the challenge for Malik neighbors here is he's going to be asked to go play on the perimeter against press man coverage he didn't have to do that a ton at LSU I think he's going to be excellent at it long term I think they're going to pound the ball to him screens you're going to see all that type of stuff obviously the slot Fades and the explosiveness will be there they were desperate I think one of my comps when we talked about them in our Prospect video was Odell Beckham so they're used to this type of wide receiver uh and I think that this is exactly what the Giants needed to give either Daniel Jones or Drew lock some chance and for us when the NFL continues to put the Giants on television we actually have something exciting to watch now or jiel dones as my league neighbors called him did you see that um so what grade did you give them I gave them an A minus so I thought Malik neighbors was the pick that I would have made as well uh Tyler nuban the safety was a little bit of a reach to me he's just not very fast 459 we're talking about a day two pick in the secondary in the NFL makes me a little bit nervous but Andrew Phillips their corner he was somebody that I was really high on he was kind of an inconsistent player at Kentucky but like his best snaps he could be right inside your pocket he's very physical I thought that his like read and react skills and his tackling ability was really good so in a zone defense I think that he could be a really good corner I think that he has the athleticism like the fight in him to eventually be somebody that could be a cornerback one if everything goes right so he was more of a sleeper guy um but he was one of my favorite prospects to watch just because how willing he is as like a tackler you know heading into 2023 for this giant team despite coming off a playoff birth I was excited for them to like expand the offense and show what a mik CFA Brian deall offense could be and I thought one key to that was bringing Darren Waller and adding Jaylen hayatt and then as soon as the season started you know the offensive line just was pitiful because Andrew Thomas was out Evan Neil was awful interior was injured and it just stayed that way the entire season because then Daniel Jones left um now bringing in competition bring bring in multiple starters adding especially Malik neighbors like this is a make or break season um I think some have assumed that because of their playoff birth Brian debal and Joe Shane are like in a good position I would be concerned if this season does not go according to plan because who knows what the dynamic was with the Daniel Jones contract but they could be looking for a quarterback after this season as well if this doesn't work out but I think they have given themselves a really good setup to prove of exactly what they want this offense to do Brian dwell for example versus what like Arthur Smith for example did in Atlanta and just kept the same quarterback over and over like again I think we're gonna see a bit more stuff more downfield passing more attacking every blade of grass from the Giants this year than we have the past two years this staff did not draft Daniel Jones so I wonder if they do have a little bit long of a leash than other people in the this similar type of position there but they have to be better than what they were last year and that's why they draft Malik neighbors real quick because we didn't do a Theo Johnson video his measurables are insane 66 260 pounds 86 percentile speed the short shuttle the broad jump all that stuff was Elite you didn't really see that on tape though like the why you dra this is why you draft these athletes like go back and watch George KD at Iowa who was like all inline blocker and barely got that much receiving work right and you see often times when they turn out to be great value picks it's because they were great athletes and then they harness that athleticism into being more of a receiver and comfortable in those areas so when you take a gamble like this like I think all day three tight end are not a shock again that the second third fourth guys were the best testers at the position yep and he for sure is going to be at least a good run blocker just based off of his size and I ISM so it just gravy on top if he turns out to be anything in the past game and we kind of need to throw in Brian Burns here as one of their second round picks too because they add him on top of that gave a massive contract so I'm excited to see what happens I I I'm a day ball and Kafka not a poist but I appreciate them because how they finagled getting into the playoffs that rookie their their first year was magic Y in a way and they had no chance last year so Andrew Thomas staying healthy at left tackle Evan Neil not looking like an awful waste of draft pick at right tackle would do wonders would do wonders for this team and we have seen offensive tackles take a third-year kind of breakout as well so fingers crossed should we talk at all about Tyron Tracy now or should we save this for the Dynasty show later this week uh I think quickly hit on it just his there's no one in this backfield like s is has D ball as uh a previous coach in Buffalo they drafted Eric gray in the fifth round and never gave him any opportunities last year so look fifth round draft Capital was not fantastic Tyron try is 24 years old but just really one season at the running back position you and I felt that he might have had the most entertaining tape out there of any running back in this class the stats back that up too and he could be a pre-season darling and if that's the case then we get some potential reps and opportunities that he's probably earned during the regular season because his style is drastically different than Denver saries and if the Giants are struggling on offense and it's week six and D balls looking for some TI of type of manufactured touch to for some explosiveness I think that Tyrant Tracy could be that so I'll take fifth round Capital all things consider of how unique of a prospect he is and the landing spot given the lack of depth over there is it's pretty intriguing Falcons the Atlanta Falcons with the eighth overall selection took Michael pinnick Jr the quarterback out of Washington then the third pick of the second round defensive ATT out of Clemson ruko uh brillan tce washing Edge in the third fourth round pick Brandon dorius a defensive tackle out of Oregon then on day two linebackers running backs wide receivers and defens tackles before we get in this conversation can we listen to head coach rahee Morris outline the reason why they shock the world and took Michael pinnick Jr eighth overall when you get Kurt Cousins and you talk talk about short-term winning talk about winning right now which we know we're going to be in position to do which we want to be in position to do um we won't have the ability to be picking this high again with the guy that we got and these guys go off the board pretty quickly and we thought it would be important for us to address our future quarterback right now where we're picking this low in these moments and be able to move forward you know fortunately enough with us we got a k we got a Kurt cousin in the building we got a guy that can go out there and win football games and we should be picking high enough we talked about winning the South we talked about doing some of these things that includes going to the playoffs you just seen six quarterbacks go off the board uh before the 12th pick of the draft and we don't we don't want to be pick anymore and Terry's done a nice job of getting some really good players some quality players but we don't be back in that position so like let's move forward think about the future address that right now we're in position to win we put oursel in position to win these guys have done a great job of doing that and that helped us make that decision and it made it pretty definitive in our building for us and how we want to move tonight and how we want to move today with that thing happening that way your thoughts Hayden the whole point of sports to me is to make runs in the playoffs and the Falcons are in a position to do that signing Kurt Cousins to $100 million guaranteed in this division is a sign that we can go make a run in the playoffs and just looking at what the Rams did when they got Matthew Stafford they go all in they're trading future first round picks for Jaylen Ramsay they're making sure Aaron Donald doesn't retire giving huge contract same thing with Cooper cup they're all the way in and if you get lucky and you go on a run which I've seen Kurt Cousins go on a run especially in the NFC is not nearly heavy go and even if you don't make the Super Bowl go win a couple games in the playoffs it's been a long time since the Falcons have done seven years so why not give Kurt Cousins in this window to win a first round guy there they need defensive linemen there were plenty of defensive linemen available there they could have also traded down there was were multiple reports where multiple teams wanted this pick for Michael penck if true which I'm assuming it is true why not take those offers get additional draft capital and really attack the defense there or romad dun would have been perfectly fine for me as well as well so to me this is really just the process of Windows win Windows to win are real and this is before we get to the Michael pennick evaluation if you're in be in you can be like what the Vikings were be all in with kurk cousins let him walk and then that offseason that's when you take the damn quarterback there's exceptions to the Jordan love but there's one out of like 50 times that this actually works out so I thought it was a horrible process either the $100 million contract was a mistake or the eighth overall pick was a mistake mistake and to win the Super Bowl you can't be making mistakes that big so the grade you gave them was I gave them a d and I I was pondering an f um and we we'll even get to the second pick which was also a disaster to me as well but uh even beyond that just to do this with Michael penx who's already old he's not going to be in the starting lineup until he's 26 or 27 years old and if they move on from Kurt Cousins after two years they'll still have $20 million in dead money and by that point Michael penx will be 26 and we still have no idea if he's G to be a good Pro or not so I don't know this was just like a mistake uh based on process and then I had a second round grade on Michael penck most people did uh I would have taken JJ McCarthy if he wanted to do this for example but the process was a disaster what were your thoughts you know it was so shocking at the time it didn't even occur to me when we were doing the stream that Michael pinnick was drafted ahead of JJ McCarthy and look quarterback three yeah quarterback evaluations yeah the quarterback four the quarterback valuations can be all over the place we saw it you know with former NFL quarterbacks versus people watching from their desks versus former NFL coaches yada Yad yada everyone sees it differently right um I thought through this scenario though what happens this summer in OTAs and training camp when Kirk Cousins can't participate fully coming off an Achilles injury where they slowly work him in maybe he doesn't throw 20 30 passes per practice doesn't get all the Reps look who's getting all the Reps right the guy who spent the number eight overall pick to is going to be throwing to Drake London throwing to cow pittz throwing to Darnell Mooney and bejan Robinson and working as the number one yeah in this offense and then once Kirk is okay you're just going to take this guy who optimistically is spinning it all over the yard against air with a cannon for an arm and attacking downfield windows in Zack Robinson's offense that's not taking anything away from Kurt Cousins as a player because I like Kirk but it's just going to make to me that Dynamic incredibly awkward too because it wouldn't be shocking if Kirk doesn't play a single preseason snap and we get Michael pinnick starting for three of the preseason games and then week one Kirk just takes over as the quarterback one again just an odd Dynamic that they're forcing themselves into here I think you can't admit that you made a 100 million mistake or an eighth overall mistake and especially when you have one or the other there so if if they liked Michael penx this much and I would just say hey they reached on them I wouldn't have done that but at least the process made sense you can't do that when you already have Kur cousins on the RO unless there's something behind closed doors they they were asked about the injury and Terry font said the injury is totally fine like this is not about the injury at all it is only about this being the most important position in football it's weird man that they both big opportunities to go after a player and they did them both at the quarterback position it's like they got take locked into fixing and maybe Arthur Blank was a part of this too you know like hey this has been so miserable the last three years plus at quarterback since Matt Ryan that now we just have to try to set it up for the next 10 but the weird thing is this cannot be compared in my opinion to Jordan love that was not the eighth overall selection he was 20 21 years old at the time he did not have torn ACLs and other injuries coming from this uh so I understand that we just saw it and the NFL can be very copycat in how they build their processes and rosters in similar ways once one BEC successful and how the Packers are doing it right now was fantastic but Michael pennick and Jordan love are similar ages right now yeah I know I know and I thought Jordan love had a little bit more athleticism to his game than what Michael penx did I have two other notes with this team number one Jay guden and col McCoy on our stream they mentioned that Kurt Cousins can get a little bit of sens a little sensitive and I would worry about that as well when you're brought in especially when his agent posts a immediate statement saying hey we were not informed of this until they were on the clock like they did not bring Michael pinnick in for a top 30 visit that is rare when you're taking quarterbacks they did go out there with their staff and talk to them but again it's almost the dynamic that I talked about that penx is going to get all the work in the summer until Kirk is 100% yep it's true okay now I got to get something else off my chest this second round pick was a disaster as well so what happens is the Falcons trade what basically the equivalent of a fourth round pick to move up in the second round and they take ruk aoro who is a another developmental tackle without much experience not going to be a day1 impact guide someone that needs to be developed in this win now mode with Kurt Cousins they traded up to draft him before Johnny Newton was was drafted Johnny Newton is definitely better Prospect than ruker roro according to 95% of evaluators out there so it was a a lot to move up they didn't have to do this because Johnny Newton was still on the clock I think there was a chance that Ruka rororo would fall a little bit far further too but they traded a huge amount of draft Capital to go up there so yeah hopefully Scooby-Doo can make uh make good on this but this was like drafting another developmental player when I thought this team just draft the the guy that's going to be out there and week one and see what happens because they are the favorites right now to win this Division and I want them to win a couple playoff games I know this is two days later but closing words here on Kurt Cousins what is the best case scenario outcome here okay there are a few scenarios that can happen from here one he plays this year and they play at a really high level and they make the playoffs they technically could trade him pre June 1st he has a no trade clause that he is allowed I believe to say yes or no to whatever team right he is going to so that is probably out the window right unless he agrees to it so if and you're already counting down the seconds until you're moving on with KT cousins when you take another quarterback 88th overall you can't get out of this contract until 2026 and at that point he has a cap number of 57 A5 million you're saving 32 A5 million of it so you're still giving up $25 million so you get no in my opinion over these next three years the benefit of taking an early quarterback and these rookie quarterback Windows because even if Michael pinnick is your quarterback in 2026 if I'm reading these contracts correctly you are even then you are still giving up $25 million technically of dead money in order to then start Michael pinnick so it's not like you can then go and use that toward signing an extra player on that rookie deal man it's still shocking to me I can't piece it together it makes no sense Vikings Minnesota Vikings shortly after traded up one spot to the 10th pick to take JJ McCarthy we knew this the quarterback from Michigan didn't trade up in later part of the first round from 20 something to 17 for Dallas Turner the Alabama Edge rusher then they didn't have a pick until the fourth round that was Oregon Corner Kyrie Jackson and then sixth and seventh round picks from there including a tackle a I think the youngest Place kicker in the NFL and will Richard coming out of Alabama uh and then wake for Center and a Texas A&M Commerce defensive tackle Hayden if you looked at these team needs ahead of the NFL draft you would say quarterback pass rusher for ban fores and some quarterback help because it was brutal last season that's why I gave them an A minus it's really going to depend on what your evaluation of JJ McCarthy is I had him as my third ranked player in this class if you needed a quarterback he would be somebody I would be willing to take and it was interesting because they called the Giants Bluff there was some reports that the Giants might take JJ McCarthy at six overall they would had to take trade up probably a future first round pick maybe the 23rd overall pick in this draft to go up to number five well they called The Bluff and they hit they only had to trade up one spot uh to draft JJ McCarthy um so watch our JJ McCarthy video um for a full assessment on him but I think that eventually he can be somebody that could be one of the better players especially in this offense I'm not sure if he's going to start uh from week one because they want to give Sam darnold a little bit of a crack at it but uh this is to me like a totally fine move he's gonna be 20% of the cost of what Kurt Cousins was going to take they're going to actually use the cap space to make sure the defense is in line to make sure Justin Jefferson doesn't go anywhere and they're actually using the process of the first round quarterback contract unlike the damn Falcons they moved up from 23 to 17 to go and get Dallas Turner switching with the Jacksonville Jaguars all they gave up in that 2024 fifth round pick 2025 third round pick and 2025 fourth round pick um we saw the edges go off the board if they had stuck there you know Jared verse went in that before them chop Robinson would have gone before them too so Dallas Turner to me fits exactly what Brian Flores and his defense is going to do load the gaps confuse that offensive line utilize Dallas Turner's athleticism on these twists and stunts and games up front and hopefully either line him up one-on-one or give him a free run at the quarterback and his length and athleticism can shine in that area the Nerds were actually mad about this trade up because they they like gave up like the equivalent of like a fourth round pick uh to to make this addition but to me like that's assuming that Dallas Turner was like the 17th best Prospect most people he was a borderline top 10 guy so he was already falling so they were recouping some of the value that they traded up for him also it was a humongous team need and he's his athleticism and his length is going to be a problem with Brian Flores because they bring all those defensive backs and linebackers right at the line of scrimmage it's tough to coordinate as an offensive lineman you get him on the stunts you get him isolated as uh against a tight end because of pass protection rules and then all of a sudden I think that Dallas Turner could really pop his pressure rate was fantastic out Alabama some more work to be done but this is exactly what Brian Flores needed and I think that they kind of scooped up the value and I think that losing the fourth round pick for a premier position like this I think that is a move I would desperately make because I think there's a humongous difference we'll get to chop Robinson in our next video between him and Dallas Turner I think like it was definitely worth um sliding up to go grab them just looking at the depth chart for this offense you get JJ McCarthy bookended by Christian darol and Brian O'Neal throwing to Justin Jefferson jordanis who are both healthy hopefully T.J hackinson comes back healthy and then let's not forget they add Aaron Jones out of the backfield too when do you think that J.J McCarthy is going to take over as a starter for this team I would say week six week seven I think they gave Sam darnold a little crack at it kind of takes one one hit and I would be shocked if it's week one it could easily be week one I mean I love JJ McCarthy like there's some mechanical issues with JJ McCarthy I hope that he gets a little bit bigger people were trolling him because of how he looked in that uh picture after the draft he looks pretty small but put on some weight all of a sudden that arm strength will become a plus rather than a weakness um and I thought the rest of his game was was a little bit underrated it he was a guy that was immediately getting a Strays from the analyst Community but I thought his ability to throw on the Run was pretty cool he can make some scrambles out there a good decision maker and like actually has experience in an offense under Center play action which is obviously a huge staple of Kevin McConnell's game I'll be interested to see if they go out and maybe get a veteran wide receiver especially if tjw son's injury kind of lingers here because KJ Osborne left to go to New England and they I mean Trent sherfield is there who seemingly is beloved by every single coaching staff that rosters him uh but that hasn't equated to production on an NFL field in recent years you know we saw Brandon Powell in moments too there's history with the Rams there so Nik Harry's on the roster they just don't have like a a Dependable three and we know that Kevin oconnell obviously two great wide receivers but he gets a third involved too so it'll be again on my radar if we get a link there Tyler Boyd somebody like that oh yeah Tyler Boyd still out there I like it Saints as everyone expected the New Orleans Saints select offensive tackle in the first round toy fua out of Oregon State pick number 14 the second round Corner Kool-Aid mckinstry then they don't have a pick until day three three fifth round picks including quarterback Spencer Rattler wide receiver Bob Means out of Pittsburgh and linebacker Jaylen Ford out of Texas so Ryan Rams their bite tackle is probably gonna have to retire their swing tackle just retired James H so they were so desperate for a tackle Tellis aaga would not have been my first choice among like the The Tackle prospects that went up in that range unfortunately leam and Olu fushu already went so they kind of had a settle for talisi fuaga my problem with him is he's a right tackle which is fine they need a right tackle but a little bit shorter of an arms more of a run block type I actually labeled him as a guard when I did my top 100 rankings because I think that he'd be really good there but if he can't like slide his feet quick enough if he doesn't have the arm length to play tackle all of a sudden we're in some trouble here so I understand why they win with it I personally win with them would have gone with amarius Mims who I think is like prototypically perfect for what they were looking for but also only has right tackle experience right but he at least has the length and and the feet where I know that he's going to be able to be a right tackle long term uh but Zone Zone background with taga so and he's got that kind of like run first identity that the Saints typically love it also gets him in trouble with Trevor Penning uh so they had to take their best available tackle here I thought the Kool-Aid mckinstry pick was a much better value but we'll get to that in a second you know who their starting left guard is Right oie Udo out of Elon out of Elon so we know he's had it for the pur bowl at some point yeah I mean this offense on paper arguably is worse than it was was heading into last year definitely worse and wasn't fun watch every single week with the Saints team uh in 20123 so it does give me some concern of them in 2024 where again at least they had a first- round pick um but they continued to bring back everyone all over again the chase young if we can bring this into free agent contract is weird and awkward where it's just hey if you go play on Sunday then you're getting paid and if not you're not yep and then obviously a uh athletic linebacker in Willie gay but I don't know man I maybe this is a blind spot for me I love Chris alve but I am just not overly optimistic about this current state of the northern Saints at this moment no maybe Joan uh Johnson comes comes through for us as a fantasy sleeper for us this time I will say there to me is some potential foreshot and you're talking about this roster might be not be as good as last year Marshon ladimore might be traded now they can't do until after post June 1 based off of their cap circumstances but Kool-Aid mckinstry could do a lot of the things that Marshon ladore can do he was an Alabama corner he slid I had him as my 24th overall player he had a little foot surgery that he had to play on during his pro day so maybe that was one reason why he slid um to the 41st overall pick so I thought they got a really good value they had a trade up for him but they only gave up a fifth round pick which is nothing for somebody who I think could be a number one or number two corner on the perimeter but the K and mckinstry pick might be a little bit of foreshadowing that Marshon ladimore could be on the Move sometime like around training camp and obviously you're not going to replace ladimore with a rookie uh this season so this goes back we're nervous about the Saints this is why the freaking Falcons should have gone all in like this is like their primary competition right now Spencer Rattler was the fifth round pick any thoughts on Spencer Rattler who by the way this team also took a quarterback in the fourth round last year in Jake Kanner as the backup to Derek Carr the Saints Day three quarterback selections have not been pretty recently um yeah Spencer Ry he's just not athletic enough like he could spin the ball like I agree he can spin it there's some wow throws but he is willing to take a hit which is a positive trait but not when you're his size he kind of has like that little baker Mayfield to him where he's trying to make a play but doesn't make up for it and I think that Baker Mayfield's decision- making in armed talent in general is better so I was not a fan of Spencer Rattler um obviously roll the dice on quarterbacks because they're so valuable but he would be way low on my like totem pull of like guys I want it was something like 172 selections between one quarterback to the next quarterback in this NFL draft which is pretty wild to think about and shows you the difference in talents of how yes teams viewed them with Fu Anga what we are saying is not taking anything really away from him like he is going to be in my opinion a very solid player in the league if that ends up being a guard spot then you have him Cesar and Eric McCoy as like the fabric of your pocket hopefully it's at one of those tackle spots but even after taking a starting tackle in round one this team still has tackle concerns heading into week one and that's a pretty difficult thing in my opinion when Derek Carr is your quarterback yeah they still need another tackle it's it's not good they have no money Seahawks the Seattle Seahawks in round one pick 16 took defensive tackle Byron Murphy out of Texas jump to round three guard Christian Haynes out of Yukon fourth round picks terce Knight linebacker out of UTEP AJ Barner tight end out of Michigan and then later on day three a corner out of Auburn Nehemiah pritchet and then some guards corners and tackles on top of that meat and potatoes draft for Seattle but I liked I gave him a B plus here nothing super substantial to me uh they were 30th in defensive EPA allowed last year they want a defensive tackle that can actually rush the passer clus Campbell Justin babuk are kind of stars when it comes to this scheme in that type of position that's exactly what Byron Murphy does he doesn't have like the craziest size but he can really uh sneak up on you and kind of sneak between the center and the guard so I think that he's going to be their like primary player over there but I thought their best pick was actually Christian Haynes who they took 81st overall he was one of the biggest values according to my rankings I up that 46th overall what I liked about him was he's just super athletic we're talking about 88 percentile speed lots of Zone uh uh run blocking back at Ukon over there and I thought the Seahawks just last year on offense obviously the storyline was the tackles were getting hurt and like that was causing Gino Smith trouble but they did not rush the ball as consistent as consistently as they should with their running back talent and then Gino Smith there was always seemed to be somebody in his lap and I think that was mostly because their guard and Center combination was not very good so them addressing this position I thought was pretty smart well and one of their guards left to go the Panthers with a whole bunch of money and Damen Lewis so replacing him in the third round with I think he's 24 25 years old of Yukon Christian Haynes but still you would expect him to earn a starting job at some point during his rookie year my zoom out view of this team was wondering where Mikael McDonald has been so successful over his last two stops with Michigan and Baltimore and they have loaded up on defense talent in both of those ways which positions and certain types of talents would he prioritize when building in His image in his new stop and my brain went to that safety hybrid role with like Cooper to Jee for example now Cooper ended up going in round two so maybe he was never going to be a first- round talent but it stood out to me that maybe the guy who isn't the key to everything but a very important one was the interior disruptor in Baltimore it was Justin matab who just landed a massive deal and now in Seattle that is going to be Byron Murphy because upfield disruptor in comparison to Leonard Williams who you know John Schneider just been a second round pick on Draymond Jones who John Schneider just gave a big contract to prior to last season so getting these bunch of big bodies is going to be interesting but we have seen Mike McDonald do some really cool stuff on that side of the ball and interor disruption is King when it works and Byron Murphy does that the best in this class Dallas Turner was on the board here for them so they had their their choice of edge Rush or defensive tackle uh last note the tight end AJ Barner uh in the fourth round he is like Mr run blocker he's basically a one for one for will dley also uh Kobe Parkinson can block so they lost both those guys in fre agency so he's gonna go out there in two tight end sets and block and hopefully allow Noah Fant to break out that's the guy that we're hoping for in the late rounds of fantasy Rams oh the Los Angeles Rams had a first round selection and broke our hearts by going with an edge rusher pick number 19 Jared verse out of Florida State and then in round two to move up 13 spots give up a 2025 second round pick to go and get his teammate interior defensive lineman Braden Fisk third round running back Blake corm out of Michigan third round safety out of Miami Cameron kenchin and we get today three stuff like Brandon Jackson Edge out of Washington Tyler Davis defensive tackle out of Clemson and even a kicker out of Stanford wasn't my favorite draft to be honest Jared verse was somebody I kind of struggled with 23y old Prospect 16% pressure rate is like not Elite uh for somebody as old as he was kind of more of a power rusher out there nothing too uh too crazy but the Rams were 20th in EPA allow last year and that was with Aaron Donald so I understand why they prioritized the defense a line because they actually made a lot of additions in the secondary uh via free agency um but Jared vers Adam little bit lower um that's why I thought it was smart where they traded up D for Dallas Turner instead of Jared verse um but the second round pick was something I struggled with here uh they traded up a lot and it was it was a very costly move for them to go up into the second round and what happened was the there was kind of a defensive tackle run ruko roro went Jon Newton went DeAndre sweat went which was very surprising for me and then all of a sudden we were running out of defensive tackles and obviously the Rams needed not to replace Aaron Donald but to throw more bodies at that position so they thought they were just kind of out of luck so they had to go up in trade form I don't like being put in those situations I think teams get desperate they there are runs on players definitely right but I think that you get in trouble if you're G to throw in future draft Capital to make sure you kind of get in that where where instead of kind of like taking your losses and Braden Fisk man I mean there's some there's some issues with his profile he's 24 years old 12 percentile weight 31inch arms so he's kind of like pass rusher only type which is nice to have but he's not going to be a run stopper so I think he's going to be a rotational defensive tackle and trading future draft Capital up for that type of profile is I think a little bit Rich for me the negative outcome for Braden Fisk I think is Tav Bryan who went in the first round for the Jaguars a few years ago all athlete uh sometimes that works out because guess what athleticism is important when you're rushing the passer because it's a through one-on-one situation and it gives you an automatic and natural leg up on the offensive lineman but Tav Bryan like could never find the football just you know turned out to be really bad I will say I don't know if you watched The Social video that the Rams put out when drafting Braden Fisk when Jared verse comes in and talks to them on the phone it was pretty cool stuff yeah uh I don't know how many times maybe even can count them on one hand when you have a team that selects the defensive end and defensive tackle from the same team in their first two selections and you know let's needed in their post draft presser talked about that a lot that he loved watching the farida State Defense which was very good had a lot of defensive players drafted because these two kind of worked in tandem in a way so they would do loops and stunts and those twists and everything that they talked about and formed a massive bond in that and this is a team that obviously this past year got super value in kobu Turner got super value in Byron young so totally with you um there are questions in this profile I do wonder if when you lose a talent like Aaron Donald does it put stress that oh how is a defense going to excuse me an opposing offense going to uh keep us honest or we going to keep them honest I mean and so it's not it's not a surprise at all that in the past two seasons there have been at least four draft picks in the top three rounds spent on those spots they've hit on a couple of them which is which is a good sign already for them um of course this GNA be a huge topic when we do our running back positional rankings because the Rams did draft Blake corm which we weren't expecting kyen Williams and Blake corm could do a lot the same things Blake K's not going to absolutely Light It Up in terms of explosiveness but nobody makes quicker decisions and has as good a vision as he does and the Rams last year were already running a bunch of Duo which is like two double teams to get to the second level and there's a little bit of feel on how you kind of run that well Blake km is used to doing that with Michigan and then this offseason in the free agency the Rams brought in about a thousand pounds of meat on their interior so this team's going to run the the type of runs that Blake km is accustomed to now Kyon Williams also accustomed to that so this is going to be a little bit of a battle they there's obviously a ton of upside we just watched what KY Williams did in fantasy but it is gonna be a risky pick for kyen Williams I'm not sure if it's gonna be in the second round anymore maybe it's a third round pick both of these guys have tons of upsid so while cor's not gonna be a starter if he does become a starter eventually he's gonna put up some humongous numbers in this offense I I'll save the full video clip for the dynasty ranking show that we have but I do want to play the first part just Sean McVey on Blake core me one of the things that jumped off is there's a lot of traits that reminded me of Kiren Williams you know obviously I love Kon and he's been so important and just you know the human being but then also when you just look at the way he works at it the production and the things that he was able to bring to our offense last year and even really some of the things that he worked through his rookie year and I think there's a lot of similarities obviously kir will put Blake under his arm and be a great mentor and kind of a leader but Ron gold was really excited about him Mike lefur um I obviously loved his game and so he's got a bunch of you know tape to be able to evaluate he's been a part of an incredibly successful program he's been the Bell cow for them in the midst of you know the successful runs that they've had the last few years and so we're really uh looking forward to getting to work with them so uh beat Rider extraordinaire Jordan rodrig has also stated that quote I mentioned the spring I could see the Rams drafting a player who reminds them a bit of Kiren Williams because they're not trying to deviate from how they run the ball last year if Kiren needs a spell for any reason quote including keeping fresh legs they want to run the same stuff um again much larger conversation we get Dynasty stuff it is interesting that they love kyn Williams so much that they drafted his clone but that speaks to how much they love Kiren Williams at the same time but on top of that a major asset for Kiren Williams is not necessarily his athleticism or his explosive runs it was volume yeah you know and so if we get a guy that's going from 24 touches a game to 16 touches a game there is an interesting conversation to have yeah I completely agree it will be fascinating for best ball Eagles e a g l e s Eagles okay all the fan stuff in the draft is I'm not sure if I hate it or love it it's somewhere between a million people attended the draft wild stuff okay pick 22 in the first round Gan Mitchell Corner out of Toledo pick eight of the second round Cooper de Jean out of Iowa defensive back jayx hunt Houston Christian Edge what a in the third round 31st pick then we get running back will Shipley we'll talk about him I'm sure anias Williams wide receiver out of Texas A&M including sixth round pick Johnny Wilson wide receiver out of Florida State and might I add Hayden also during day three they added a third fourth and fifth rounder in the 2025 NFL draft howy Roseman in this draft did a bunch of the stuff we're used to but also in ways this offseason we we've seen new Hoy as well he had the most trades uh of all time eight trades during the draft uh that's what shefer put out there uh and yeah I thought he worked the board magnificently I had quinan Mitchell in my mock draft to the Eagles but that they would have to trade up for him of course Ho's is smarter than I am and was able to get quinan Mitchell to to fall to him at 22 overall which was to me a very good value lots of Zone coverage but for somebody that is like a Zone corner has really Elite athleticism and then Cooper Dee same type of thing great athlete almost all Zone uh coverage he's probably going to play safety for the Eagles just because they have now to me three corners ahead of them and now they're going to put him in the slot uh they'll probably put him in the box at safety they'll have a plan in place for him but for to get Cooper to Jean who was a first round guy according to most people including myself to get him 40th overall is just like value hunting and then also just adding depth to the position and also getting ahead of where the Eagles could have been after this season where their two veteran corners not GNA be on the team after 2024 so what I was alluding to is Harry Roseman in previous let's say years's draft classes has elected to be cheap at running back and elected mainly to go with veterans at cornerback so we saw him spend a bunch of money on Sequon Barkley who's a rare talent and then look himself in the mirror and say hey our back seven towards the end of the season was one of the worst in the league so how do I fix that I finally invest in first and second round corners and while it sounds like if you read them on a piece of paper that those would be negative words I'm saying them in a very positive light yep like that is awesome for a longtime NFL decision maker to be able to look at his process see that the NFL changes in a decade that the NFL becomes much more efficient and effective throwing the football over the middle of the field and you can't just build the same roster the same way over and over again he did it like yeah huge huge credit to Harry rosan for doing this yep I I think it's even deeper than that he drafted Jaylen Herz in the second round and to me the Jaylen Herz profile today if the draft happened again he would be a first round guy and the only reason why they got quinan Mitchell who probably 10 years ago with his athletic traits would have been a top 10 pick now he falls because all the quarterbacks that typically would be second round picks or now go inside the top 12 so the guys that he would wanted get pushed down the board so he's always one step ahead here so yeah they're going to have to play a lot of Zone cover just based off of the profiles um of these two corners long term but BC fjo he can make the most out of these uh and then on day three that's when we got some of the fantasy sleepers that we were touting yeah just real quick I think the last time he took Corners this high was back in 2017 he took an injured Sydney Jones in the second round rasul Douglas who stuck around the league for a bit at pick 99 so these two selections are much much earlier than that let's talk about those intriguing Fantasy names towards the end just real quick jayx hunt out of Houston Christian Daniel Jeremiah let it spill that he knew that Vic fangio wanted to leave with this player after watching him either at The Shrine game or the Senior Bowl can't remember which one and just like mandated hey we need this pass rusher okay um okay let's first talk about will Shipley your thoughts yes I thought will Shipley was one of the best sleepers just because his production at he can catch passes he can run like real routes and he also handled goaline opportunities he ran downhill a lot at Clemson was kind of stuck in the mud because of their offensive line situation his contact balance was the reason why he wasn't a day two selection so my advice to him would just be follow saquan Barkley around the weight room and see what happens in a year or two once saquon Barkley is out of there but uh I think that he has a chance to be the number two back he's going to have to go compete with the Kenneth gain Wells and that type of tier but I thought that he was a better Prospect than Kenny gainwell was um so I thought this was like a classic pick uh in round four um to kind of take somebody that could is obviously not saquan Barkley but if saquan Barkley went down he can kind of at least resemble the same type of offense because he's kind of like a mini Austin Eckler to me yeah and I I think it probably means it's the beginning of the end for like Kenneth gainwell oh yeah on this team too you know like will Shipley is a slalom skier I thought between the tackles and handed a lot of work but was at his best in the receiving game and had a lot a lot of production in that area uh anas Smith is probably an olami zakus replacement in round five potentially uh he also had some issues back at Texas A&M I think he had like a concealed carry let's again use the word issue at that point so there might be some things to work on there and then our guy Johnny Wilson in the sixth round he was the last Prospect video for me to put a logo on um Hayden I don't think it's shocking for a player like this to fall to the round because one it's a body type that when they hit they're extremely awesome there's a ton of failures in this spot too a lack of production he transferred all that type of stuff so if I can spin it in a optimistic lens because he is such a unique Pro profile right size speed athleticism potentially maybe draft Capital matters less because it's the type that uh NFL teams might get wrong because he also has traits that could make him interesting but at the very least his number one goal should be to stick on the team and maybe develop a little bit his number go number one goal is don't be JJ RGA Whiteside which to me he moves way differently than arga wh said does but yeah my expectations at this point are zero if he hits awesome I'm glad he at least went to the Eagles because their number three Wide Receiver right now is like Devonte Parker and then and like annias Smith and stuff so I think there's still a chance where he can kind of sneak onto the field the Eagles also have had a fascination with these like kind of Fringe tight end bodies um so we'll see what they want to do with Johnny Wilson I think that he was an isolated wide receiver ex receiver with traits um but yeah he's got a to me it was just his drop issues and maybe just not a scheme fit for most teams um but we'll see we'll see him in the preseason if he shines there we'll see what happens this will be a much larger talking point when we get to the San Francisco 49ers but I did want to bring up their final pick pick 14 in round six NC State Center SLG guard Dylan McMahon he was on the list he achieved the 447 shuttle at the NFL combine um hopefully all of you know that the 30ish players that have done this have gone on to start 84% of their NFL games including Jason Kelce including Jason Kelce so this team is searching for a long-term Center Jeff stoutland and I thought this team would invest even more along the offensive line but Jeff stoutland likes to have one Premier trait that these prospects have and he can build off of that we know it is athleticism here with Dylan McMahon out of VC state I'm rooting for you hey trust me so is San Francisco we'll get to that one in a moment yes Lions Brad Holmes has done it again Hayden 24th pick in the first round Brad Holmes and the Detroit Lions selected Alabama Corner Teran Arnold second round also a corner in inis rraw out of Missouri fourth round Giovanni Manu they traded up by giving away I believe a third round pick in 2025 to take the tackle out of Canada son viai the safety running back out of Utah and then we get you know Makai Wingo a defensive tackle in LSU and Christian mahogany a Boston College guard in the sixth round who draft what really like both those picks so I thought the story here was Terry Arnold like quinan Mitchell he slid um down to 24th overall and that was enough for the Lions to get involved there I didn't think that the draft Capital they traded up for was all that much because I thought there was a little bit of a tier break uh like a early fourth round pick was kind of the equivalent of the trade offer that they made and I think that was worthwhile because tyan Arnold's like the perfect guy that Brad Holmes wants could play inside could play outside he can tackle he has instincts could play zone coverage there was that some sometimes at Alabama where he can play man coverage he's not overly athletic but makes up for it in every single way so I was not a surprise that tyon Arnold winds up there except that I was just surprised that he fell in general and then on top of that they kind of took a very similar body in NIS ranks rank Stout Jr who also slid uh a little bit there he doesn't have crazy size and speed either but made a ton of tackles compl played the nickel um just kind of an instinct guy I think PFF he was their number one corner um in zone coverage as well so Brad Holmes has a type and we learned it's SEC Corners with instincts which makes sense this is what Brad said back at the combine about the cornerback position you can't have enough Corners um it's a very hard position to play um it it requires so much not only physical qualities but intangible qualities uh to be successful at that position and um you have you might have to be a little more selective uh in in acquiring them and um when you when you find a good one they're they're hard to find they're not growing on trees although that's arguably them and wide receivers probably the most volumous group uh position group in a draft but um that'll mean that they're all going to be be good so um and especially as high as you might have to pick them uh especially because of a lot of because of their physical qualities um if you get wooed by the physical qualities too much but they don't have the intangible qualities um you can get yourself in trouble so so Brad must have loved this corner class I mean during his time in Detroit and this was starting in 2021 he has not taken a cornerback in the top two rounds until now they trade for Carlton Davis and they take one in round one and run in round two and Brad was a cross check for corners for the St Louis Rams LA Rams for a very long time he's very picky when it comes to this position he loves watching them in the combine drill the turn and Spins and all that type of stuff and I mean is the guy going to miss at any pointen he's on a heater right now we'll see how long it lasts I will say You're Gonna Love this this fourth round pick seon uh viai or vaki whatever his name is do you know that he absolutely lit up USC I mean at running back put us in Hell uh he had nine carries for 68 yards rushing and then he had five receptions for 149 yards in two touchdowns this guy came out of nowhere I was watching the broadcast like this guy was playing safety last week and all of a sudden he looks like Barry Sanders out there so this is another guy like Tai J Spears who all of a sudden is now getting drafted as a running back with like legit draft Capital so he's not going to play safety they announced him as a running back I'm very curious to see uh what they said about the about the selection but this dude is an absolute dog not a surprised that Dan Campbell got him and also not a surprised that he absolutely ruined one of my Saturdays they also brought in Kevin zitler I don't want to overlook that fact to be their starting Right Guard after losing Jonah Jackson and so yeah I mean this tackle they took in the fourth round could be the swing tackle early on the Christian mahogany the one note I am keeping an eye on as we move forward with the Detroit Lions are we going to see a massive increase number of snaps for Jameson Williams is he going to take a hold of that Josh Reynolds role because they did not add a single wide receiver during this week or is someone like Donovan peoples Jones or trayquan Smith going to step into that spot I don't think that Jameson Williams has the same traits that Josh Reynolds has like for that role like ex- receiver role I'd rather keep Jameson Williams in the Jameson Williams role but like get him on the field a little bit more um but yeah but then you're dropping down from like Josh Reynolds to one of those types you know what I mean so like I I think people will start drafting especially after no wide receivers were selected for this team James Williams as if he's going to be out there in all two receiver sets and you know there's a chance yeah Brad probably drafted him thinking he was going to be out there in two wide receiver sets yeah I can see it play aution deep shots big post routes I'd like to see it Packers Green Bay Packers pick 25 offensive lineman Jordan Morgan out of Arizona pick 13 the second round Edan Cooper out of Texas AMA linebacker dvon Bullard also in the second round safety out of Georgia then Marshon Lloyd running back out of USC Tyron hoop Hopper Missouri linebacker as well and then we get to things on day three so Hayden talk to me about what you thought about the Packers draft we kind of nailed it the first thing that they said after drafting Jordan Morgan is we wanted left tackle experience we wanted somebody that can kick in guard we wanted an athlete and that's exactly what they thought they have in Jordan Morgan so uh questionable arm length but they're they're willing to take on that risk if you as long as you can move your feet and I thought that Jordan Morgan was able to do that so they're trying to get their best five out there all these their lineman could kind of switch position so that was a classic Green Bay Packers pick and then in the second round Edan Cooper uh linebacker he'll be next to to Quay uh Quay Walker there I mean just an insane amount of athleticism between those two guys oh yeah and they can go sideline to sideline let's just hope it's in the right direction with the ball is headed yes and that was that was in my notes there that uh edrian Cooper is just kind of just point and shoot type of guy you can get him on the blitzes he's going to make some huge tackles for loss um but kind of get fued out there as well so it'll be interesting to watch at least they have speed to make up for it Javon Bard was like kind of the opposite not super fast not super big but uh he has just has instincts kind of play The Deep safety role uh for them they've kind of needed that spot he'll probably start next to Xavier mckenny and then that brings us to Marshon Lloyd who I thought you put it nicely when he said he's kind of like a DeAndre Swift type of guy there um this this fit kind of surprised me because Josh Jacobs under contract for at least the next two or three seasons so kind of a bummer that Marshon Lloyd is going to be a strict backup but I think that he's going to kind of supplant AJ Dylan immediately because he provides a different type of rushing style than Josh Jacobs does what has this team relied on in recent years it's explosive plays that Aaron Jones gives them we think Josh Jacobs is gonna be really good with his offense but in terms of explosive plays we saw them a lot in 2022 but not necessarily 2023 marshan Lloyd his game is let's get you out in space and see if you can frequently make someone Miss and create a 27 yard gain out of a seven yard gain the issue as we'll always bring it back here with Marshon Lloyd is that he fumbled once every 36 Touches at the college level so if you fumble in your first game uh almost certainly it's gonna halt the momentum that you have probably gained as being the running back too which right now is AJ dyon but I mean if marshan Lloyd dots his eyes and Crosses his tees he is easily second back in this in this he's he's way more talented than a the one thing about the fumbles though some of them were like on mesh at the mesh point on like the Zone resep with Caleb Williams and like they would credit with Caleb sometimes sometimes with Marshall ly there's other times where he's absolutely putting the ball in the dirt but the rate might be a little bit exaggerated based off of the wonkiness of that I mean 36 once every is like the worst of all time so yeah nobody felt this more than I did I hear you but he's got he's got the sauce if he can kind of get pointed in the right direction maybe we should save this we'll save that conversation we'll save the Josh Jacobs conversation for later on the week Buckaneers Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round select Graham Barton at pick 26 the offensive lineman of Duke second round Alabama Edge the other one Chris brazwell two third round picks tyi Smith the safety out of Georgia third round pick Jay McMillan the wide receiver out of Washington fourth round draft capital for Oregon running back Bucky Irving Hayden what' you think of the Jay Buccaneers draft the Buccaneers last year 27th in rushing EPA 26 in short yardage rushing success rate so Graham Barton he played some left tackle I think that he's destined for guard perhaps he can be a center uh long term got some inside positional versatility he was a first round grade goes in the first round nothing too flashy there Chris brazwell uh was out of Alabama nine sacks 19% pressure rate which is like better than like chop Robinson so he's not overly flashing stuff but for some reason this dude just always ends up near the quarterback so I like him uh as a second round pick don't know much about the the safety that they drafted Jaylen McMillan we didn't do a video on him but um just kind of an average slot guy there was like a standout trait uh that I saw in particular I'm not sure if you saw anything otherwise from Jaylen McMillan just real quick before we get there what grade did you give the Bucks uh the Bucks like a B minus like nothing like really wowed me it wasn't very like a very flashy draft but they needed like interior line help and grah Barton I thought was like supposed to go in this range yeah I mean if a guy can come in and play center immediately uh and this is going to be a new offense that this team Works into that is super important and it sounds like gr Barton is a plug-and-play starter at Center um yeah Jaylen McMillan I I just don't think he's gonna see that much volume you know yeah uh you've got Chris Godwin especially you've got Mike Evans I did like Jaylen McMillan in terms of like catching away from his frame and he had some agility and smoothness to his routes as well but I did think he was the third Talent among that wi receiver group for sure this this staff did say that they want to put Chris Goin more into the slot yeah so that might be kind of a hindrance to on the field and we'll get to Jaylen pulk in the AFC video I felt the reason why Jaylen pul didn't play morlot was because Jaylen MCM was playing a ton of slot but we did see some outside snaps for jayin as well uh I think bu real quick Trey Palmer was pretty decent last year too so it's like not a lock that Jay McMill is the third wide receiver for this team I think I think he has long odds to be that because to me it make more sense Mike Evans and Trey Palmer your outside guys than Chris Godwin's your slot receiver and then you go from there and then this guy's gon be your number four uh Bucky Irving he's probably got all the traits to replace Chase Edmonds I was just curious about this one because Rashad white is like a finesse guy he showed more power last year give give him some credit there but his best work is kind of as a finesse guy definitely one of the better pass catching running backs in the league so to draft another guy that kind of fits that type of role I thought was interesting when they could have drafted like a power back uh but curious on your thoughts just real quick Liam Cohen has spent some time with Shawn McVey one of the size athletic profile comparisons that Bucky Irving came out with was kyen Williams sure I do not see that from a pass protection angle at all I thought Bucky Irving was horrible in pass protection but in terms of being a decisive Runner that's gonna pick up the yards that were blocked for him and in fact Bucky Irvin did way more than that at the college level at Oregon did such a good job of like attacking the outside shoulders of defensive linemen and defensive backs and linebackers and all that type of stuff to you know break away from them um I don't think Rashad white should be looking over his shoulder at all but maybe Bucky Irving who did some of these cool motion catches lining up at wide receivers on screens legit line up at wide receiver a couple times again that is the strength of Rashad White's game as well so I think it's just the statement of hey you need multiple backs in the leag this a win for Rashad white in my opinion they could have easily drafted somebody that could sneak around at the goal line and they didn't Cowboys the Dallas Cowboys the surprise of the draft not for who they took but maybe who they did not take but in their first round at pick 29 took offensive tackle with Tyler who sounds like he's going to shift all the way over to left tackle and start there as a rookie Maran neand in round two pick 24 Cooper BB another guard Kansas State Marist Lou fou who I did not watch a single snap of out of Notre Dame in the third round and we got other day three selections um Hayden what was your grade uh gave him a B minus uh no running back notably which we'll get to later but this is another team where I'm just kind of questioning what's the vision with the team they're quote All In which to Jerry Jones means we're not paying Dak Prescott we don't have the ability to franchise tag him after this year so unless he wins games in the playoffs then Dak Prescott's going to be a legit free agent blows my mind but for an Allin year they drafted the tackle that needs development he went to TCU as a tight end he's only started I believe it was 12 games all at right tackle at Oklahoma I think that he needs to show a little bit more power there's some technique issues out there he's got the the traits to be a legit uh good offensive tackle but he's probably going to start and start on the other side of where he's used to so for an Allin year they did draft somebody that could be kind of Hit and Miss um as a rookie so I don't know what their plan is here the Jerry Jones comments around Dak Prescott and the contract there scares me if I was a Cowboys fan because I don't want Dak Prescott to leave because once that happens you're you can be in a tough spot yeah and not paying the best talents on your roster where you can just look at the Philadelphia Eagles for example who have paid you know Devonte Smith and AJ Brown this off season meanwhile CD Lamb's looking for a contract Michael Parson's looking for a contract Dak Prescott looking for a contract weird Vibes at the moment the Tyler gon one he was the last of the first round tackles and then the second round opened to the midpoint with a bunch of tackles as well so it kind of felt like he was the last of the cliff and I'm sure that they board stacked in a similar manner I'm just totally some they didn't draft a single freaking running back yeah like we got multiple Poppins from Ian Rapaport this weekend saying hey almost certainly something is going to get done with Ezekiel Elliott but that gives you a backfield of Ezekiel Elliott Rico D and Duce Fawn Royce Freeman Malik na Davis and Snoop Connor does this mean that we're going to see 15 runs from the Dallas Cowboys every single game and they're just going to throw the ball over the they're going to throw it but this also means I'm going to have so much Zeke Elliot in bball I'm G to have to scroll down one spot because I'll probably have like 50% Zeke and uh I don't want to admit to that but I mean he's their plan Jerry Jones is on tilt I'm guessing Jerry Jones like we keep losing these damn playoff games because we could not run the ball with Zeke Elliot and we need Z Zeke right back in the damn building I think that's exactly what their plan is like he's probably the best free agent running back so like I don't know what else they're going to do it's going to be Zeke as the one with Rico d as the two and then we'll see if they can actually run the ball because they're missing their Center and they're missing their left tackle uh from the last season so they drafted their Replacements this time but it's a very very weird year for the Dallas Cowboys it seems like Jerry Jones is tilting and this will be the last time we'll see this kind of grouping all together and The Vibes are scaring me uh for what this team could look like we know they did Jonathan Brooks's surgery after his ACL injury Jerry Jones was asked about Jonathan Brooks heading into day two of this draft and said we love him we have a great grade on him all this type of stuff these people lie in these situations they will never say we don't like a prospect because if he goes on to do great things oh we loved him that's on record so on and so forth not very often you talk about a prospect before he's actually drafted um you would think if they loved him they could have moved up from the 56th overall selection to the 45th overall selection to try to acquire the running back but it wasn't just then Hayden like we only saw two running backs drafted in the first two days I understand that maybe there wasn't one headliner and that there were a bunch of grades that were the same but not taking a single shot and your only shot at the position over the last two seasons is Duce vaugh who has his fans out there but is not the profile that is going to fit exactly what the Dallas Cowboys want to do on a down and down out Series in series out stand point he's not going to make the team let's be honest is is kind of Madness for a team that has invested so much in the position over the last few years you're underestimating how much Jerry Jones still loves Zeke like that is like truly like the answer to this that he's like these guys aren't better than Zeke um so we'll see uh credit words do Cooper BB I had him as the 45th player he went 73rd overall he's about as wide as he is tall um and he is just an ass kicker in the ground game played tackle and guard in college could play some Center uh he's built like the traditional Center have to play center if he's going to be in the starting lineup right so like he looks like the meatball Center of all meatball centers so I'm excited to watch him work out there I'm sure Jerry Jones was fired up for Z Elliot have run behind Cooper BB and look if Mazy Smith plays decently at all that'll feel like another first- round pick because he was brutal during last season 49ers look we all remember the eighth overall selection in the first round let's not forget the stunning 31st overall selection in round one Ricky Rizzy piol the wide receiver out of Florida then in round two Renardo green the corner out of Florida State round three Dominic puny the offensive lineman short shuttle King out of Kansas round four Malik Mustafa safety out of Wake Forest four freak athletic running back Isaiah gindo Louisville Jacob cowing round as well and then round six another short shuttle King guard jerck Kingston out of USC is this your favorite team now do you want to explain why so we need to find out c h burner account th this is this is where it's at for the people that again are the uneducated out there I'll put this in since 2010 29 offensive line recorded a 447 short shuttle or better NL combine 25 went on to be drafted those 25 went on to start 84% of their NFL games it really is a cheat code when it comes to offensive line evaluations this year we had six players who hit that short shuttle Mark and the San Francisco 49ers I think for the first time ever selected two of them Dominic puny and jarro Kingston now the draft Capital was quite different puny was a third round selection Kingston a sixth round selection but K shanan was even asked about these guys and said hey I was a slot wide receiver in college I thought the short shuttle was important so I started looking at Short shuttles and how they impact other positions as well and in talking with our offensive linemen including our offensive guards yeah what we asked them to do reach block three Texs so on and so forth I find the short shuttle valuable for offensive lineman let's go alert I see you my phone is available I can be a consultant if you need to John and Kyle don't leave me hanging uh bring me with you if that happens but yeah I thought that Dominic puny was one of my favorite draft picks he was their third round pick there I had him as the 55th overall player on more mod board just because he has the short shuttle club membership uh he also only allowed two quarterback hits so they needed to throw darts kind of on the offensive line I thought their depth was weak at times I think it might have cost them the Super Bowl uh last year as well Mike Dana came out of nowhere and absolutely lit him up on the Chiefs defensive line uh but the first pick was a surprise when the Ricky Piera one I think like this is kind of the range that he belonged in I thought he was more of an early second round pick but I totally get why uh they went with him out there his shiftiness and his ability to track the ball over his shoulder obviously has the famous one-handed grab but his shiftiness is like very real to me it does not match the production profile he's a late breakout all that I don't really care his tape was that good see that in the reception perception data um so my question to you is should we look into this as anything with Brandon nuk and Debo Samuel also obviously everything's come and go with the draft with the trade speculation but like them drafting a wide receiver especially like a slot wide receiver that they typically haven't used in this offense is like at least somewhat notable I think you shouldn't but should at the same time if that makesense Ricky peaw was the wide receiver six off the board and we all talked about that basically after the wide receiver three you can stack four five six seven eight nine 10 however you want to now would it have been a surprised if you just looked pre-draft and saw that Ricky peaw was drafted as the wide receiver six no but in the first round I think that is the surprise now at the same time this team wasn't selecting again until the 32nd pick of round two it was last call for him for sure right so other than a massive trade-up they wouldn't have gotten another one of those top receivers because ad I Mitchell let's say went at the 20th pick of round two and that was four more wide receivers after Ricky piol so like again if you wanted piol the player which they did you had to take him at that point to answer your question the third wide receiver doesn't get a lot of targets on this team no you know so it's Debo it's auk it's KD and it's CMC and typically only three of or two of them go off not even all four of them in the same game so now adding a fifth mouth to that certainly to me added fuel to the fire that one of these guys is going to get moved but now that we've exited the NFL draft for 2024 I don't think one is going to get moved so I think Ricky is going to be a role player who they believe can play all three wide receiver spots can play on the outside he is very different than these typical slot wide receivers but again this is not an instant impact player the Jawan Jennings third wide receiver is not the same type of profile who was also still on the roster right so like and like he's in there to block and do the dirty work I'm not sure if that's where Ricky Piera is going to make his ends meet I think that we have not heard the last of this story yet and I don't think it's going to be with Brandon iuk Brandon iuk is too valuable to this team in my opinion too young to in the prime of his career and a win now team I think they're going to try to sign him long term in order to free up cap space long term though you could trade Debo Samuel the reason why they were not able to trade debbo Samuel during the draft is because he would have to clear um the Medicals and you can't do that right now last when Maris Brown got traded to the Cardinals he was like actually in Phoenix at the time of the draft weirdly so like everything aligned it was too much to coordinate with the Debo Samuel stuff now they can still trade Debo Samuel after the draft they can trade a somebody can say take a future third round pick for Debo Sam I think they would be potentially open to that because they're down like they're above like 20 million over the cap next year trading Debo Samuel eats up all that that comes right off their book so they can uh potentially sign Brandon iuk the Ricky Piera he's not Brandon auk he's not Debo Samuel he's somewhere in between them kind of as a as a not Gadget guy but somebody that can you kind of scheme up touches in the middle like Debo Samuel can kind of stretch the field like Brandon auk but to me I think they could trade Debo Samuel that would not surprise me before the the season starts it would surprise me at this point if they got rid of na though I mean I I don't see Ricky peol in the vein of really either of these players and so I think if they lose Debo then Kyle's not going to go looking for another Debo because I think he understands there isn't another Debo I like what you're saying and especially when you look at post June 1 trades that would save them $22 million to trade Debo Samuel versus even pre-june 1st that would be down just to7 million so like we could get a training yeah we could get a training camp trade for Debo and it would free up money for for BR nayuk um I think Ricky Piera is a starting wide receiver in the league I thought that before he was a 31st overall pick I mean working 11 to 17 yards over the Middlefield making tough catches catching away from his frame all that stuff I would love to see him as a starting wide receiver but again when looking at the depth chart right now I don't see how the third wide receiver on the 49ers is an impact player at this moment if people are drafting this as if Debo's for sure going to be on this team I would draft a ton of Ricky piol assuming his price tag is low because I do think they're are some odds where he's out of there and Ricky psel goes flying up the boards in August so that would be my way to look at this um yeah I think there's still a chance that Debo gets moved I think it was the physicals the reason why it didn't happen uh this time I'm sure they wanted more draft Capital but they just want to tra or sign brand to a long-term extension like that's the first priority here also in the Isaac ginda video we brought up names like Matt breida we brought up names like Raheem moart classic guess who gave both of those guys their chances uh really KY Shanahan yeah um it's because he's the freak running back athletic profile and Kyle just can't help himself with that yeah nobody has more hits and misses at running back than Kyle shanan I'm gonna guess this is gonna be a Miss for the record well and actually gindo's probably best asset is his passing down work I thought his pass protection was quite good soft hands and we know that CMC is at his best in that area um Jacob cowing someone made this comparison on Twitter I wish I could find it comparing to Travis Benjamin which I haven't watched coing but like Travis Benjamin was actually a big role player for Kyle back in the Cleveland Brown days do you know who's a huge Co guy producer weaves we know what's gonna happen then the BL off all right let's CL us out with one more team Panthers the Carolina Panthers had the first pick of the second round and moved up one spot in the first round to take wide receiver zette out of oh how do you say that oh sorry let's go the guy himself you had the uh the town hall party that was kind of loud oh yeah but did you happen to hear how Goodell pronounced your name oh yeah man he he said it right he said it said oh yeah that's how I tell everybody just to hold it make sure you see it with two e Xavier Le get Le get thir second pick overall then trade up for Jonathan Brooks in the second round running back out of Texas athletic linebacker Trevon Wallace in the third round out of Kentucky first pick of the fourth round Texas tight end jatavian Sanders and then close it out with a few other guys your thoughts and grade on this draft I'm giving a c minus I understand that it's all about getting Bryce young some weapons and mission accomplished they they're rolling the DI on a bunch of these guys but Xavier Lee get as much as I do love him Le get Le Lee get you got to leave that double e out there he this was a little bit of a rich reach to me I think there's a chance he can go full blast off if you average 105 yards per game totally get it he can block which they need the size you can't run run out another small wide receiver with Deontay and Adam theland so I appreciate what he can do there this is just a little bit Rich for me in terms of how consistent of a player he was like his in terms of his route running and his hands I think there's a chance that he absolutely smashes though like the upside I'm not undering that at all but if this was kind of a boom bus pick and they traded up in the first round did not mind the trade of it to one spot who cares uh but there a little bit earlier than I was expecting Xavier liette to go there can we listen to head coach Dave Canales on what his plan is here for XL himself first of all just the athletic traits right just like so handsome height weight speed you know 61 221 439 you know really balanced stands um that's a pretty good start you know then you look at the versatile ways that the Gamecocks were able to use him out of the back field jet sweeps short crossers perimeter screens down the field post there really isn't much else we do with receivers he's he's done it all you know and um we'll leave it there we'll save the rest for the dynasty ranking show um when you hear those parts of a wider receiver who people might say is rough around the edges doesn't run the full route tree it's exactly the plan that I wanted him to go on for his NFL team is the rishy rice program right of let's get the ball in his hands and Rumble and allow him to win after the catch and actually deep posts Rashid rice didn't run that many of those and Xavier Legette did a pretty damn good job and had some awesome contested catches on Big Boy routes down the field the amount of people when I posted that clip on Twitter and said oh why didn't you just sign resign Lisa chanal was so annoying watch ball like watch one snap of lisus chanal in a panther's uniform and show me one deep post that he ran down the field like yeah it the level of athleticism that those two players have and the movement that zavier Legette brings to the table to me far exceeds anything that people thought that Lisa Chanel was or is or is now so and so forth so I'm totally with you uh and it goes and extends on to the rest of these draft picks Jonathan Brooks you and I viewed him as the number one back in this class and getting him at the 46th overall selection um I think John the Brooks is gonna touch the ball a ton in the Panthers offense this season yeah it's they just weren't a running back away like they wer they weren't not even close to any of that so that was going to be my problem with that pick 46 overalls a little bit earlier than what we were expecting you and I like we're not this is not nothing against Jonathan Brooks so I think that he has the bcow traits maybe the only running back in the class has like true bcow established traits receiving game to could definitely catch the ball definitely a threat for when he's ready and which it sounds like it's gonna be July 1 so like totally get it but just like spending a second round pick in the heart of a true true rebuild when you didn't have a first round pick technically was kind of like not not a waste of a pick because Jonathan Brooks is going to be a good player but like you needed I think to take another receiver or something like that so it was not my favorite use of draft Capital but at least it was for offense I do trust that Jonathan Brooks is going to be a steady player for this team but they've already invested into the mil Sanders who's like maybe not gonna make the team or whatever the hell is gonna go on with we know the my sanders thing was du Staley and Scott fitterer making that and neither of those guys are part of the team anymore juuba huard's on the last year of his rookie contract like I think Jonathan Brooks is pretty good and if he immediately comes in and becomes the all-around back which neither of the backs on this roster can do at the moment like to me that can be a win in pick 46 yeah I think it could be a win but it' be like a marginal win at that but the the third round pick I thought was good think about how much Dave Canales used Rashad white last year right yeah I think I think that would be fine like I think it's a fine pick I don't an important part of an offense it doesn't it's not going to turn into a home run pick here he's going to be a good player and that that's okay but like I don't know I thought I thought that going with like a day two receiver with kind of a boom bus profile in round one and then following that up with a running back was was not my favorite use of capital the the linebacker I did really like 21y old really uh fast 88th percentile speed um kind of a developmental player which is I think the perfect Prospect for the Panthers uh to take over there and then at 101 gavon Sanders who I think some people might get fired up about because he was like super productive at Texas and like he's not battling a bunch of players for for snaps but I think you and I saw him very similarly it took me about 10 snaps of his where I was like the lack of separation is going to keep him from being an elite player Le let's talk about that because again we discussed with the day2 plus Theo Johnson tight ends that were selected the best athletes among all the tight ends at this position I think when people watch Daven Sanders at his Texas days they said oh great athlete he creates explosive gains down the seam after the catch so on and so forth then he goes the combine and this is just athletic testing you can dispute that if you want to but test like an exceedingly average athlete exceedingly and then when you go back and watch him in mind knowing that he is extremely average as an athlete you see it it's short strides he's not separating he's not pulling really away from anyone uh I get a lot of Irv Smith vibes from yeah and I didn't think that he was a good blocker as well he did it at times but not super physical either so yeah I can see some IRB Smith to his game so kind of a Zone Merchant to me they got him on some leak patterns and that's why he like yards after the catch stuff like on the spreadsheets looks nice but is you just you see it immediately I wouldn't I don't think he'd be like Jake Ferguson like that type of tier I think he's firmly beneath that and that's why he went 101st overall when some people thought he was be a second round pick it mean you see them the same way it's just you have to have burst and he doesn't have it yeah I'd almost want to give Tommy tremble the uh the opportunity just to see what can happen in a contract year uh I have a pitch of why they should move from a c minus to a c okay moving back from pick 39 to pick 40 or whatever it was 46 and then move no it was pick 49 to I think pick 52 and then 52 to 46 they got a 2025 second round pick there we go I'll I'll give that to them so basically in in a way if you want to compartmentalize this they were able to now turn Brian Burns into two second round selections okay I like it can I take away that uh little grade push though for David terer being an absolute weirdo UND draft weekend oh what what would you have done if a if a strer that you met in three seconds went up to you and removed your hat well if it's a stranger we might have to throw hands if I know it's David terer I'm falling and faking an injury and then my attorneys will be visiting the law odd behavior an odd human who does that I like people were like oh he just took off hat and it was an eagles's hat you don't walk into a restaurant go up to an employee never meeting them in your life remove their hat and put it down in front of them like you just don't do that you know me and my hats I value these hats my damn hat absurd thing to do learn your lesson this is just like months after throwing your drink on people absurd all right oh boy that is going to do it by the way I mean Panthers moving up one spot to uh get the fifth year option too we'll talk about the Buffalo end of that because it it's an interesting conversation of moving back and still taking a wide receiver and then basically sacrificing the fifth year option for like a sixth round move up anyways we'll talk about that in the AFC version go and watch that video if you want more on each of these wide receivers and running backs there's a prospect profile for them on the channel we did 35
