2024 NCAA Dunk Contest

all right so let's take a look at the participants the competitors that are here tonight for the king Hawaiian slam dunk competition kot Johnson Germaine Hall Jr Hassan Ward John ukodo Langston Wilson Marlo Gilmore Jr Dakota rivers from Florida G Coast Josh Pierre Louie and Gabe mlin who we just heard from from Grand Canyon representing the Arizona Wildcats he enjoyed playing for Tommy Lloyd he loved playing for Dutcher at San Diego State but love Tommy Lloyd as well whoa that is a pretty solid start to the competition that's just one foot inside the free throw line that's [Applause] impressive I think it's a nice start guys he's been in six dunk contests he said he's won them all but will that dunk win him this that's a warm up it's a warm up KJ a lot of eights waiting on you got nines couple eights couple nines he said it meant the world to him to be here my thought is that he needs to make it like that what with two hands went with one hand the first time brought it back with two hands Jay bill is your thoughts solid I mean he made it which is important I think you you uh you made the point to all the dunk make sure you make it and he made sure he made it I'd have to concur oh oh we understand that though now wait was that off the backboard did he touch the ball on the back back board and dunk H or no yeah Gabe put it off the side of the backboard he caught it I thought he not only caught it but hit the backboard and dunked it but if he did H it's okay Johan comoto on his first dunk attempt oh oh yeah that's it that's nice that's got to be a high number it's the first dunk I feel like he has more to give I more to give that's all hey but it was clean yes rotation was good dropped it down Cedric zalos is M atude all right Jay bis what do you think what son I thought he would go with something blur because he can really hop yeah played for Bart Lundy at Milwaukee and he said that Bart Lundy changed his life you mentioned he was two years at Washington but he went for something really difficult but he pulled it off I like it you got to get the crowd with you just can't be gay you got to get the habits with you too look out simple but yet I need to see that in slowmo we got 18 from Cedric sabalos with ease he glided to the rim Jay billis what are your thoughts he made it look so easy I think he got less points for it let's take a look at what it looked like from the vest take off time you ever wonder what it it's like to fly that's what it looks like this is going to be special he's got a prop already with a guy underneath he picked the biggest crew member we have J bis did he did he did [Applause] he Jay Williams what's the question that you have he pushed up on the back you can't push up on the back that's legal you can't push up on the back watch this slowmo you can't push up on the back you got to jump over he then ate a king Hawaiian roll which is always good for product placement watch your left hand [Applause] Sean I think it l less of a push and more of a brave on the back of his leg he says fear God he says on the front faces I don't fear any of them I only fear God yeah I I know it's the second attempt but that's pretty nice that is the first perfect score of the evening in this dunk competition he said what he got here he wanted to show the country how athletic he is and I think he just did gab mlin oh my the pressure on this young man to show up and show out in front of his student section he said it meant the world for him to be here and have the opportunity to compete not only did he compete he elevated as well as anybody in this competition has in the opening round here's who advances to the semifinals what a field we have I think that Marlo Gilmore is just getting warmed up in this competition his favorite dunker is Vince Carter he can fly this is a really really tough dunk for him to do after sitting down for 45 minutes he's got time a lick of the wrist he copped it and brought it home I I would have thought like just have you stand out there Jay bis and let him jump over you cuz we've also seen that a little a little disappointed is that fair my insurance carrier wouldn't allow that understood I should have known finished third with a 58 like time is going fast and oh no this is a disaster this is a disaster oh God failing to prepare is preparing to fail that was a nice really that that was nice it's the same dunk same one we just saw it was good dunk it's just same dunk we just saw the last guy the same dunk Locker y the [Laughter] oh I love it that hat is big enough to go on J bis he is the champion what's in the crowd it's in the crow Oh Oh I thought I was just like that's a little bit uncalled for Josh here Lou he had 60 in the opening these people tend to have a good time that's not a bad thing we're looking to have a good time right now oh ball slipped out of his hands oh Hometown hero he's out in front he's got a perfect score of 60 Gilmore and yukam modu have some work to do he wants it he was talking about before him was hyped he needs it right here now that was a large step inside the free throw line Angel Ain necessarily with the crowd it was a big dunk not to be underappreciated J Yeah Yeah from that angle it does look tougher it's still nine though yukam modu up he did the he did the gimmick last time with somebody out on the floor with him we'll see if this time it works out a little bit better the clock is running I think he's going to attempt to jump over I just feel like he out is like please Lord all right just down that was clean and strong hand on the back a little bit right right that's what I hand the back a little bit is Jay about to change his score a little bit pushed off a little bit but still [Applause] okay why is he so casual though cuz he can do it all right now J Will you're up next go for it who casually does that g mlin casually does that J billis Tak us through it how ridiculous it is ridiculous he's been really smart with the way he's gone about this and he's going to the finals no matter what so this will be his final dunk as he' go back to the dunk he didn't make in the last round same positioning oh my goodness see that got a reaction out of everybody on that sideline Big Time dunk that's beautiful jamadu and mlin advance to the finals be careful J billis how you feeling right now I'm not comfortable in the middle [Applause] here oh my goodness oh there's home cooking this is hilarious get him out of here unbelievable Bou on Dy Drew out of here oh my goodness flagrant too how a flagrant too oh my gosh parking back to the nine that Dwayne Wade gave in the NBA competition a couple of years ago PA again oh no he's trying to go reverse with it remember it's only one dunk he's got to complete it 30 seconds on the clock oh come on come on uh-oh uhoh [Applause] [Music] uh-oh oh no oh my goodness oh my God okay you got it he got it on the last time he got it I should
