hey everyone it's Ben Hardy here and in today's going be comparing a Chevy Silverado ZR2 to the trail boss to see which $770,000 Chevy pickup truck is best before we get this video I to give a huge shout out than you to the lar Miller Chevy here in Provo Utah some time with both of these trucks include a link to the website in the description down below so you can check what they have currently and then on a side not if you want to save time and money the next time you purchase a car link to my car buying guide in the description down below let's get into [Music] it powering the ZR2 is a naturally aspirated 6.2 L V8 that goes through a 10-speed automatic transmission power outputs are 420 horsepower and then 460 lb feet of torque with fuel economy being 14 around town and then 17 on the highway you can also get a 30 Diesel with the Z2 now powering the trail boss is the exact same powertrain with the exact same power outputs and fuel economy the Trail Boss offers more powertrains than the Z2 you can get it with a 27 turbo 53 V8 62 V8 and then the 30 diesel as [Applause] well now before we move forward with this review I do want to mention if you want to see more videos just like this then I recommend you subscribe because I post content every single day so I'm mainly going to focus on the key differences between the trucks and one of those key differences is the grill design so you guys can see here with the ZR2 how well it's all blacked out you got the Chevy flow tie but just look at the design compared to the trail boss with the ZR2 it just kind of looks like bigger a little bit more open and then the bumper design is another big change so you guys can see you've got the red recovery points skip play protection underneath but also the cutouts there so you can tell with the Z2 better approach angle whereas the trail boss and it's kind of more of a traditional style bumper still has red tow hooks and everything but yeah the biggest like appearance difference is definitely the front ends of the truck and you guys can also see they are in a little bit of a tilt but regardless the ZR2 does sit a little bit higher now with Z2 our Turing wheel setup is 2757018 in the front and over in the rear and then with the Trail Boss it is 265 6020 in the front and in the rear you can get smaller Wheels with the trail boss but most of these Trail bosses ordered out to dealers have the bigger 20in Wheels now both the trucks actually have a 2-in suspension lift from the factory but you'll notice that with the ZR2 you've got fender flares with the Trail Boss No fender flares and then notice Z71 versus ZR2 there with the badging and then pretty much everything else on the side is the same except here on the back you got the Trail Boss decal and then in the rear things are very different so you guys can see we've got Rancho Shocks here with the trail boss still have leaf springs and there's actually more Leafs in the leaf springs for the Z2 as you can see the stack is a little bit bigger um but we do have multimatic shocks they're kind of hard to see but yeah multimatic shocks with the ZR2 anyways here's the side profile with the ZR2 and then here's the side profile with the trail boss and then the last exterior difference that I'm going to talk about is the exhaust tips you guys can see with the Trail Boss it has the traditional dual Outlet exhaust tips and the 02 also has dual Outlet exhaust tips but notice that they poke out the bottom here for better departure angle and this takes us inside of the trucks so here's the door panel in the trail boss and this one is an LT package so it's loaded up you can see all the soft touch trim look at the wood trim there as well and then you got the upgraded seats here payload by the way 1647 lb towing capacity is 9200 lb you've got the advanced four-wheel drive system you see all the light controls there and then quickly pop in here nice sound with the V8 um you can see stuff like he steering wheel dap of cruise control big digital gauge cluster here and then in Reverse we got 360 camera system with this loaded up Trail Boss and then we do have heated seats we've got dual zone climate you got trailer brake controls you can see the center console setup here including there got like double glove box and look at the trim on the dash soft touch all cross and then we do have power siding rear window with the truck let's pop on to the ZR2 and popping over to the ZR2 you can see the design here with the door panel it's all easy to clean definitely pops a lot more at the coloration same thing here with the seats as well you can see Advanced four-wheel drive system got heads up display too which is cool and then oh actually before we pop spin payload 1,445 lb and then Towing 8,800 so not as capable as the trail boss with that and then we'll turn it on now close that so same setup here that's not any different still have a 360 camera system oh I have to buckle my seat belt to put in Reverse but trust me there's 360 camera system notice we have front rear locking differentials selectable treoss has the G80 so it's not selectable with that system so this you have a little bit more control control and then we do have dual zone climate heated and ventilated seats and you guys can see again just different with the coloration same thing on the dash as well and then this one actually has rear viw camera mirror Center up top as well and then we do have a power setting window so it's kind of hard to see but this is the window sticker for the Z2 after all options this one stickers for $77,900 and then with this Trail Boss after all options $ 71,1 185 let's see which truck drives the best well let us set off in the Trail Boss we'll do this first and then the Z2 second and this is an interesting day today so my plan today was to review a bunch of SUVs and I ended up reviewing only pickup trucks I don't know how that happened I don't know why that happened but here we are folks here we are it is cold also I think it's about to snow again at least it feels like it but first off so the uh 62 V8s with the uh they've got like a performance exhaust on these trucks now in sport mode sounds so good it's got this like rumbly tone to it it's really cool [Music] actually and the 62s got so much torque now we actually have fourel Auto with the Chevy silver Auto which I really appreciate um I think that's cool I think that every single pickup truck needs to have an advanced four-wheel drive system like that because it makes you know driving in conditions like this where you don't need four-wheel high but you know having a little bit more grip is definitely a nice thing to have yeah that V8 it's got some power it has got some power sounds great too with this exhaust glad they added that I mean it's comfortable with suspension shocks and all that they're they're comfortable and it's it's easy to drive um it is a bigger vehicle but it's not it's not difficult half ton trucks frankly they're not bad so once you go up to the HD trucks that yeah it can be you know certain situations it can be kind of cumbersome driving them around this fourwh Auto it works great just tons of grip I'm interested to see how the ZR2 with the shocks performs over the bumps in that area compared to these Rancho Shocks it should do better the multimatic shocks should be better so anyways that did not go as planned I think the Trail Boss looks cool in the outside I think it drives pretty dang well for a full- sizee pickup truck and it's you know it's got some nice features it's pretty comfortable but with that being said let's see how it compares to that Beast well let us set off in the ZR2 also with a 62 V8 uh I tried to make things even by picking out trucks that had the same powertrain so you're welcome I can tell you right off the bat you can feel the extra height it does feel the ZR2 does feel a little like it just barely but you I don't think you'd be able to perceive it if you didn't drive the trucks back to back though just saying uh it is it does feel a little bit more comfortable I think part of it the seats these seats are more comfortable than the seats in the trail bus and part of it the suspension damping it it does feel a little bit smoother yeah that V8 has so much torque sounds great too and yeah this interior feels a lot different I I mean I have a bias towards this interior cuz I like the practicality of it being easy to clean but the trail B's interior would be easy to clean as well um but I just think it looks cooler that's kind of my other thing with this interior just looks a little bit cooler but after this car goes we should be able to get an acceleration here yeah let's see what this thing's made of I mean it doesn't feel any different with the acceleration it feels pretty much the same great power overall yeah it seems like I you know part of it could be the bigger tires too that could be the other part of the more comfortable ride but yeah it does feel a little bit more comfortable with the damping this bumpy part will really show the difference with the trucks yeah I mean it's you still feel the bumps like you do in the trail boss but it just I don't know it feels like the truck handles it just a little bit better a bit over big compression this would be a lot better than that Trail Boss you know the ranches shocks I just don't think those could handle large compression like these multimatic shocks can handle so to cap things off yep the trail boss is more affordable but I'm team Z2 um I think the problem in my opinion with a loaded up trail boss is it's like the same price as a GMC siarra at4 and so when I look at it from that perspective I'd rather have an at4 than a Trail Boss um but when we're comparing you know at4 TR L and ZR2 I yeah i' pick the ZR2 I just think the ZR2 looks cooler uh I like the fact that I can selectively lock the differentials I like the off-road capability of the truck and I love this interior um again it's not the most luxury but it's luxury enough for me and I like the fact that it looks it it's the materials you can tell they're going to last a long time at least that's what it looks like and then on top of the the materials looking you know like they're more durable it's just easy to clean design and everything I think it's cool let me know what you guys think about ZR2 versus Trail bus but I pick ZR2
