hey guys I hope everybody's doing well it's Brian again today is going to be a tutorial video and we're sitting in a very nice truck we're sitting in the 2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro so this is going to be for those that are considering getting the new 4Runner TRD Pro before they make changes to it which I suspect is coming soon it's for those that want to invest in something that is primitive ancient tried and true simple not complicated at all so if that interests you or you're just curious about what the TRD Pros are like these days check it out we're going to go over all the buttons starting with the door all four windows are one touchdown one touch up so with a hard click you can put the window down and with a hard pull you can do hands-free for the windows in front of those we have the door locks lock and unlock notice the little Navi on the lock button over here and in front of that is the window lock in case you don't want any of your passengers opening the windows without your permission say you're in the car wash onto the dash we have the mirror adjustment if you click the L you can adjust the left mirror same for the right then there's a neutral position we have the brightness for the speedometer engages this will also change the brightness to the interior buttons the automatic high beams which will be active when you turn on the automatic high beams on the headlight stock which we'll get to soon and we have a panoramic view monitor so when you push this you have a great frontal view for when you're off-roading and your 2D Pro 4Runner and at 360 so you can see how close you are to the curb or any rocks and trees that are on the trails down below there's a little widget over here a little dummy button where you can cut that out and install some accessories a lot of Forerunner people like to install aftermarket light bars and then down below that is the latch for the hood to adjust the steering wheel it's as simple as pulling down this little lever here and it will telescope for you forward and back and it will go up and down like so when you find the perfect position all you have to do is lock it back into place all four vents on the Forerunner 2D Pro are adjustable here so there's a little X for turning the vent off and a little wave to show you the airwaves coming out of the vent you can customize the amount of blasting so that one side can have full air and the other side can have no air nice customizations the steering wheel stock on the left is for the lighting so the first position which we're going to look at this little Notch here on the left is DRL off so it means you're not going to have daytime running lights the next is auto so the Forerunner is going to see if it's dark or light and adjust the lighting for you that's going to be parking lights in case you want the little uh dim lights on the outside plus your buttons lit up at night time and then full-on headlights but just remember if you leave it in Auto you'll have daytime running lights during the day and then when it gets dark it's going to kick on the regular headlights anyway also like I mentioned this is where you want to leave it if you want to use the auto high beams which are right down over here that way when you push this forward it'll activate the auto high beams the ring over here is for your fog lights so this little symbol over here represents fog lights those will activate when the headlights are on and the headlight stock on the right is for the wipers so we're in the off position now if we were to click it down one we'd be in the intermittent position that way we can choose how often those wipers go for when it's lightly raining or misting if we were to click it down again it would go to low so it's going to go back and forth slowly and then click it down again will be in high which is going to be back and forth fast on the right side we have the controls for the rear wiper so right now the little Notch is in the off position if I clicked it Forward once T in a minute I can't change how often it goes it's just going to go back and forth once in a while but if I click it forward to on it's going to continuously go back and forth if I pull the stock towards me there's a little symbol here for the front windshield that's going to wash the front windshield and then if I push push it away or twist it all the way that's the back windshield there so you have the front washer and the back washer controls and of course hidden away next to the engine start stop button is one of my favorite buttons the heated steering wheel so by pushing that you have the steering wheel heating up for you to heat up your hands on those cold days the steering wheel is fairly simple starting on the left we have the volume control which is horizontal and we have the presets control which is vertical here and this is going to be all for the audio or you can change the volume to your phone calls you can make audio commands here and if you're connected to carplay or Android auto by pushing and holding that down for three seconds you can use those virtual assistants the button below is going to be a mode button between AM FM Bluetooth or Sirius radio but by pushing and holding it it'll pause and mute the music then down below that the last button on the left side you have the answer or hang up buttons for phone calls onto the right side of the steering wheel there is a pad here with arrows that go in all directions a select button and a back button this pad with the select and back button solely operate the mid screen which is the center screen over here which we're going to get into next and right below that we have a page saver so when I push and hold this it'll actually save my favorite page on the mid that way no matter where I am in that mid by pushing this it immediately goes to the page that I set as my favorite then down below here we have the cruise control so the lane departure is not a part of the cruise control but it can kind of be when you push that button you'll get a little symbol there on the top right of the mid in green that symbolizes that the lane departure alert is on all it's going to do is beep it's not going to steer you back in your lane but this sensitivity button here activates with the cruise control so to use the cruise control is very easy you just push this on and it's going to say radar ready and you're going to get a little symbol right up there that looks like a car with an arrow and a speedometer that's going to be your radar cruise control so what that does is that means your Forerunner is actually going to sense the vehicles in front of it depending on your sensitivity you picked and it's going to slow down and keep a safe distance so you can pick the distances right there but check out the way the symbol changes if I was to turn this off and then push and hold the button down so here's the original symbol for the radar cruise control but if I was to push and hold that button notice the change so it's just a speedometer with an arrow that's your steady cruise control so that's the old school one that's not going to have any sensing so say you're a little scared about the automatic one or your little old school you still have the old school cruise control but how to use it completely is I push this down it'll say radar ready and then I set it like this then I can increase speed decrease speed and then I can cancel and resume or turn it off like this remember pushing the brake also turns it off as well inside the center console once opened up I have a little box here for tissues and a pen clip and down below a 12 volt plug with a little coin holder and nothing else but moving forward from the center console are a couple different buttons and levers here this is for the automatic back windshield so by pushing this down and holding it for about a second the back windshield will go down if I pull it up for a second in release it also comes up automatically then the buttons right next to that are for the driver and passenger heated seat notice there's a little Notch so I can control how much heat it's not like an on off there's actually a range of heat that I can get the little orange light over here will be lit up when that is on for the shifter we have a typical old-school Toyota shifter it's tried and true it has the Toyota 7 as I like to call it so with this shifter what you do is you go over and down and it'll go to drive once I shift over to the S I can toggle forward in the gears or lower in the gears and you'll see on the mid on the top left three four five or backwards I can control those RPMs and control those gears which is really nice especially for going up and down Hills back to drive of course I have neutral reverse which will give me the great camera that I showed you before and back to park there's no electronic automatic parking brake like on a lot of the new Toyotas so for the parking brake while pushing the brake all you have to do is push this down and you'll see it says park right down there on the bottom left then to release all I have to do is push the brake push down the parking brake on the left release and take my foot off the brake for the four wheel drive I have a simple little diagram most of my driving will be in high two which is going to be rear wheel drive so while I'm driving I'll be in rear wheel drive most of the time however if I need to go into High 4 which is four wheel drive for higher speeds I would say probably around 45 50 miles per hour is as fast as I would take the 4x4 system all I would have to do while driving is pull this down once I pull that down there's going to be a little blinking green symbol there of the four wheel drive system and when the wheels are rolling which I'll roll forward a couple feet you'll see that's going to go solid I can also take the four wheel drive system out of four high while moving and just go right into I2 so this is what we call four high on the Fly you can change this while moving however in order to go into four wheel low there's a little bit of a process so I'm in four wheel high as you can see by the little green symbol over there but I want to get into four low the first step is to come to a stop and shift into neutral you'll notice here on the 4x4 lever that it says neutral here so since we're on High 4 what we have to do is go over and up now we're going to be in four low and you can tell you're in four low because it's already activating your off-roading screen which gives you the cameras on the sides for the front with your Wheel track and your pitch and roll diagram and all I have to do now put it into either driver reverse you'll also notice on the display here a couple different of the automated systems are turned off the vehicle stability control the traction control also it tells us we're in four low and the pre-collision system is turned off so that it doesn't try to activate any self-breaking because we want to maximize traction so the only thing I have to do now is just let my foot off the brake and I'm officially in four low but how do we get out of four low and get back into four high or too high well first thing we do is come to a stop we go back into neutral which is the same process of getting into it we'll take this down put it in a neutral back down to four High you'll see all of the automated systems turned back on and then what I can do is either put it right back in the high too or I can drive it in the high four like this and then once I'm in high for driving I can just click it back into high too like so a couple buttons by the shifter here we have the USB plug here which is going to activate your carplay or Android auto which is not wireless on this vehicle because the Forerunner does not have the new Toyota infotainment system not a problem for really anybody and this is an upgrade that came from the factory this is the dual USB port which has a higher power here and a cool little blue light that's a little brighter and different color than all of these lights but nobody has a problem with that because it still matches in blue the climate control is very easy to use we have these two large knobs here which are going to be the passenger and Driver temperatures so notice the two different temperatures and then what I can do is I can synchronize just by turning off dual so in a lot of Toyota's it says sync but it's kind of the reverse here you just hit it and it takes off the Dual and now I can control the whole 4runner's temperature right from here instead of there being a mode button to Circle through all the different Air directions you have a nice little grid here it's an easy visual which will display right over here for where the air direction is going to go quick easy and simple I don't know how much more simple it gets and then the fan speed we have forward or back and then you'll see the fan speed go up like that or back down we can turn the system off like that and it'll shut down and to resume you just have to turn it up a couple notches and of course we have AC and recirculate next to each other because on warm days like today you want to keep cooling the air that's already cold instead of straining the system by not using or circulate and fun fact with circulates great for if you're in tunnels or behind a stinky garbage truck or you just want that air filter a little bit but my recommendation always use this on the hot days when the AC is on below that we have the front rear defroster which makes sense for them to be next to each other and when you hit front to froster it's going to take over this and put it right to the windshield and the rear defroster has a little symbol of a mirror because it also defrosts your side mirrors or saving the screen for last so like I mentioned we have four vents with those wheels that you can control the ventilation for hazards are right in the middle and another nice unique thing that's tried and true an old school Toyota is the old school Toyota clock so all you have to do to change this is hold the hours or the minutes right over here and you can change that to the clock which is always sitting there slight redundancy on the screen but people do like old things that literally can't break so for some reason the screen started acting up the great thing is you can still use the climate control without a problem and you can still change the clock and know your time without a problem so great to see different things here instead of everything integrated in a giant tablet up top on the features overhead we have the auto dimming review mirror you can turn it off and the little green light will go out but basically the auto dimming review mirror is going to get dark when it senses the bright lights behind you and then moving forward we have some buttons for the off-roading so these two knobs are my crawl control and my multi-terrain select so the first step is to get into four wheel low which if you remember what I do first is I'll get into four High I'll make sure it's in Gonna Roll forward a couple feet then I go into neutral over and up and in four wheel low pick my gear and now I can activate my multi-terrain select and my crawl control so all I have to do here is turn it on and on the mid it's going to say crawl control and I use the knob to change the speed so you'll see I have the different speeds here crawl control is a low speed cruise control for off-roading which is going to do all of the braking for you in very fine braking inputs so it's going to sound very interesting when you do it and all you have to do is control the steering it does all the braking modulation for you we which is very interesting there are even some cool videos online of people digging themselves out of sand and stuff with this but of course they can demonstrate that onto the multi-train select all I do is turn it on and I use the knob to go through the different terrains but I have to turn off the crawl control first in order to change that and I turn on the multi-terrain and I can change the different terrains here so starting from the left I have mud sand and dirt loose Rock mogul and rock and that's it and hit the back button on the steering wheel and I'm all set up and it gives you a little symbol on the bottom right so once I picked that terrain I can then turn on the cruise control which I call I call cruise control because of what I said before but it's the crawl control so you can see I picked my terrain then I crawl it couple more buttons here we can turn off the vehicle stability control slash traction control using this button here which will automatically turn off when you're in four low anyway but this gives you the option to turn it off in four high a track is active traction control which is going to apply brakes to the wheel that's not getting traction and allow the power to go directly to the wheels that get traction and then here's your locking rear differential which will lock it up in four wheel drive and allow you to basically conquer and get over some more treacherous terrains great for off-roading I can't demonstrate that right now but it's very interesting because with the locking rear differential where some four by fours without the locking differential can go over stuff there will be moments where they can't really get over it and you start spinning and locking up the rear will actually help you get over those obstacles and then moving to the right we have the button for a safety connect which is our recovery system and we have links to three different garages a simple control for the interior lights on with the doors or not on with the doors and then we have the slider for the moon roof forward and back and then we have up and down for ventilating the moon roof of course on the lights we have an individual push for those and this is a little convenience light which is going to shine down at night time so you can see what's in your cup holders onto the screen we have these four main buttons on the left and right starting on the left we have the home screen which will show you different information all at once we have the menu which has a couple different apps for changing things we have audio which is going to let you go to your different sources and pick your AM FM Bluetooth or Sirius Radio which comes for 90 days from Toyota and then we have map so if you have the navigation in-house which all the 4Runner Pros do it has the map right over there but when you connect it to the carplay or the Android auto by hitting map it's going to either go to Waze Google Maps or whatever navigation you like to use on the right we have the secant track for the music that's going to be a little bit more handy for your radio of course the driver is going to be using the secant track that they have on the steering wheel so these are more passenger buttons and then we have phone for pairing a device or getting to your phone menu to see your contacts but like I mentioned if you're in the carplay system or the Android auto you're not going to really be using this because you can hit the phone symbol and it's going to have all your stuff already on there and then apps is just going to bring you to a little screen which is kind of a um redundancy because it's a old version of the Entune system in there so we're gonna see all these buttons disappear on the new 4Runner I suspect let me know what you think about Entune this as well you're likely to never touch this because once you're plugged into the car plate or the Android auto you're going to be using apps just by touching the screen the knob on the left is the power and the volume for the music and then the knob on the right is for your tune and scroll for the radio but like I said the home screen you can see different information all at once and then when you tap this it brings you to the audio it'll show you what's playing onto the menu a couple different things here I'm going to keep it simple for you you're really going to either do info to see your weather some HD you know navigation stuff over here you can see your economy which I figure most 4Runner people don't care about but two buttons you're gonna push a lot are going to be your setup and your display so real quick for setup you can change the color theme so say you want the screen to be a little bit darker you can do that but for the purpose of visibility I'm Gonna Keep it here for the light one you can turn the beep on and off change the language but here's where you do the clock so you go to menu setup there's your clock so that's where you can change the clock if it reads a little different than the old school one and that's simple to do over there the only other changes and buttons you might push are going to be some units on the very bottom you can check for software updates if this thing ever acts up but down over here two other things you can train the Forerunner to recognize your voice if you like to use the Toyota digital assistant but I suspect you're probably going to be using either Siri or the Google Assistant but down here my favorite spot vehicle customization you can change some settings here so for the light settings you can change how long the interior lights stay on when you turn the Forerunner off uh stuff about your daytime Runner lights how long your headlights stay on when you turn the Forerunner off if there's daytime Runner lights when you're in the auto feature which is nice you can customize that another one I love the door lock settings so when you put it in park the door is unlocked but if you don't like that you can turn that off over here you can change how the remote activates the different locks so you can set it so one push unlocks all the doors or one grab to the handle unlocks all the doors you can pick the doors the auto relock timer you can set but on the bottom I love these you can turn off the blinking when you unlock it and you can even tone down the sound when you lock and unlock it which is nice and that's all in your menu and your setup down the vehicle there on the left and another nice thing in the menu is display so say the screen's a little bright even though you set it to dark mode you can actually change the brightness to the screen right here which is really nice and then another great feature which we'll do it again is menu display screen off which will let you have the screen off it'll play the music or the phone call and just to get the screen back on Boom you can turn it right back on by hitting any button it's very convenient for the nighttime drivers where things are a little bit too bright and remember on the dashboard on the left we do have that scrolly button for dimming down the gauges as well and lastly on the screen just a friendly reminder when you're plugged into the USB plug that's where you'll have your Apple carplay or your Android auto and this screen is going to look just like your cell phone screen no it's not wireless you have to plug it in make sure you hit yes for permission on the phone and this is going to show your Google Maps ways the all the apps are going to look like the apps on your phone so it's a dead giveaway and then you can use whatever navigation system you like to use and that's going to be very easy and just remember only the apps that are compatible between the phone and the Forerunner are going to show on there and then that way you can pretty much have full access to your phone without having to touch it when you hit the text it's going to read them to you and you can respond audibly but the great thing is you'll be able to bounce back and forth between the Toyota software and then the phone software just by pushing on the buttons over here and bouncing back and forth what will happen is when you plug in there'll be a little app on the screen that's a little black Toyota app when you hit that it's going to go into your car play and then you can just switch back to one of the um software from Toyota just by hitting one of these buttons and you'll have this style but for the new owner I already know he's gonna like the darker style let's see how the red looks that's pretty cool to match the red stitching on the floor and the seat I hope you all enjoyed the tutorial of the Forerunner charity Pro I was unable to do a review because we were so tight for time today but I wanted to squeeze some information for my Forerunner people if this helped you please give it a like please consider subscribing I promise it'll be worth it because I have more valuable Toyota content coming for my current subscribers thank you so much you guys are the reason why I do this and I will see you guys in the next video peace
