2023 Tesla Model Y Performance Wheel Covers Upgrade! #tesla

[Music] [Applause] [Music] hey guys Paul here welcome back to the channel so today I have a brand new wheel covers from rematrix this is the wheel covers from 19 inch Gemini wheels for Tesla Model y so in today's video I'll show you what comes in the box and then a quick installation after that I will try to test the efficiency of these wheel covers and then compare with the stock Gemini covers that came with the car hopefully these wheel covers will keep the efficiency the same as the stock one or maybe they could even improve the efficiency from the stock real covers of my Tesla Model y now let's go [Music] thank you so these came in the Box for wheel covers for Center lock caps and protective tape also insertion manual let's take a closer look of the wheel covers itself so this is the newest design from real metrics they call it this design Medusa as you can see here it's really really nice this size really cool similar to somewhat similar to the performance wheels on Tesla Model Y and model 3 but I kind of like this one much better has really um turbine look shape to it and I like the matte finish it's not quite matte like flat finish it has the sun shine on the Finish itself which is really nice again this is the only wheel covers that made in America or USA as you can see here I'll show you a little details here it said made in USA and the quality the plastic part is much better than the real covers that I have seen out there in the market this is actually a PPE material I believe yes so this is PPE material it's not hard ABS plastic so this is more a little bit more flexible than our ABS plastic so it's less likely to break it's really really cool design I love this new design a lot and the same it's like it would be more efficient too because the cuts out are much smaller than their previous design also make sure before you install it on your car you have to install these protective tape that came in the packet so it's came in a smaller strips like this so just pull it off and then install it all around the inside of your real covers so this will help protect any damage that recovers might cause to your 19 inch wheels also help with any noise like you know when you drive on a low speed the plastic and the lario might cause the noises but this will help make it a lot quieter I didn't have any experience with any noises so far so this will help a lot make sure you install this protective tape first and then install it on your Tesla Model y now we saw everything that came in the box now let's go and install it on my Tesla Model y you can all right now let's go and install it on my Tesla Model y before we install the real covers from rematrix let me show you how to remove your stock Gemini 19 inch wheel cover first so grab a hole on one of these spoke right here and then pull it out towards yourself just like so if the wheel cover doesn't come out at once just keep pulling little by little all around the wheel and it should just come out now let's install the wheel covers from three Matrix so you can see first thing first find a dial stamp cut out as you can see here and then locate the valves down on your wheel and everything should fit in place and just push it in and then last but not least you will have to put a center lock cap this will lock the whole wheel covers in place that's it it's really simple and easy to install now let's install the rest of the wheel covers [Music] all right I install all the wheel covers from mermatrix looks really really good looks really cool much better than the appearance wheel covers in my opinion by the way these are not directional so I'm not sure how much it would affect the efficiency but we will test it later now let me show you the overall look of these new wheel covers from rheumatrix on my Tesla Model y foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] this is probably one of my favorite design we have covered so far it looks really really good and it looks like a rims you can't really tell it doesn't show much on you know the silver color of that a lot of wheels on the inside all right let's go test it out and let's see how it compares to the stock rear covers all right let's start with the first test first so this is for the new wheel covers from rheumatrix we will change this one right here we'll cover tests two we have do we have to reset this one to zero because we will use this to measure the efficiency and the energy used for this stripped so we're gonna reset it there we set all right so as you can see now all zero zero zero so this will be a round trip test for each one so it'll be a as you can see 15 miles each way so will be about 30 miles round trip for the whole test one test and after we come back finish the round trip and then we will change the wheel covers real quick and we do another test right away so the condition the traffic and the weather doesn't it doesn't change a lot so I'm I'm starting it really early today as you can see 6 30 um it's already 78 degrees because it's been really really hot here in Southern California so I want to do it early so it doesn't affect um difference efficiency that much and we start with the state of charge at 82 and the test will be mostly on Highway and I will limit the speed limit to 72 miles an hour lb on autopilot as much as I could on the test now let's go for the first one [Music] [Applause] all right we are on the freeway right now I forgot to mention that the whole two tests we are doing is gonna be they are gonna be on chill mode so this is the most efficient mode for your Tesla let me try to get that's more sufficient as we could here and you can see here mostly Highway as you can see on the map we got on the highway and all around all the way over there and then turn around come back here so it'll be smooth it started really early you can see no traffic at all which is awesome next time I'm just gonna do the same thing so we can avoid the traffic all together on both run so when we get back try to change the covers it's quick quickly as possible so nothing changed that much but yeah let's continue with the test I like to be educated but I'm so frustrated hello to my loneliness [Music] all right we are back and done with the first test again this is the wheel covers from rheumatrix and as you can see here we'll cover test 31 miles distance we travel and the total energy use of eight kilowatt hours and average energy of 272 watt hour per mile it seems high compared to other tests that I did before I think the reason being was because I was out really really early and there's no traffic at all so the car has little chance to regen and recoup the battery so that's why their average energy is a little high but we'll see comparing with the same exact driving condition and you know same distance same route and which compare with the stock wheel covers all right right now let's go change out the rear covers real quick and then we'll start another test right away okay now it's a great opportunity for me to show you how to remove these room Matrix wheel covers so first you will need a plastic removal tools or plastic plier tool like this and then just try to get it in here and then apply out that's into the logo and then just pull it out you will need a lot of force to pull out straight towards yourself yes so it's a little tough um and it's stuck in there really well so yeah you need a lot of force to pull it out and remove it now let's remove the rest of it and then do another test I'll change them back to stock covers now let's go and do another test right away let me show you and the traffic changes again we have to reset that real cover test right here so reset back to zero zero zero and everything is everything will be the same I'll be the same distance a very similar conditions and same route and I'll be on shoe mode too all right now let's go for the second test [Music] all right we are on second test here with the stock we have covers again on the autopilot right now as you can see the max speed at 72 miles an hour a chill mode and the same route pretty much driving most of them on the highway and then jump all the way there and then we'll come back the same spot again and the conditions are pretty much really similar to the first one not much car not much traffic on the highway still it's 7 30 right now so yeah let's keep continue with the second test and see you back at home [Music] all right I'm back from the second test with the stop wheel covers so let's see the result here the distance total distance the same 31 miles and then the total energy use pretty much the same two average energy however the stock real car was a little bit better than rheumatrix will cover so the stock got 269 watt hour per mile I believe the Ultimatrix one got 273 what hour per miles all right let me show you a quick result here the difference between two wheel covers it's really insignificant actually it's only what four Watt hours per month difference in between two tests let me show you a result all right let me show you a quick calculation so this 2023 Tesla Model y long range has the total capacity of 82 kilowatt hour but only has seven part of 76.5 kilowatt hour usable battery capacity so that's kilowatt hour we have to change and turn into um what hour so that times 1000 equal 76 500 watt hours and that will Dy by the total average energy per mile so the first test we got was two so divide by 273 watt hour per month so the first test if we were to use the battery from 100 down to zero will get about 280 miles on this 2023 Tesla Model y with limitrix Medusa wheel covers but let's see the stock will cover test which is 269 watt hour per month the same 70 76 500 um what hour divide by to 269 and you'll get 284 miles from this car 2023 Tesla Model y long range with the stock wheel covers you'll get 284 miles if you were to drive from zero the drive from 100 down to zero percent so only four miles different so a Four Mile Drive from the wheel covers if we change to your car from stock two metals are very metrics wheel covers which I don't mind at all because the look is so much better the design is way way better than a stock wheel covers from Tesla Model y as you can see from the test these wheel covers from rematrix didn't improve the efficiency on the car at all I actually lost like four miles um from the stock rear coverage which I don't mind because it gained 200 on the design and look of my Tesla Model y this is probably hands down one of the best looking wheel covers for Tesla Model y just for the look alone I'll just go for it it looks really really good it makes the car look so much better compared to the stock one of course and then it looks um I mean if you don't tell anybody no one would know this is the wheel covers it looks so much like the wheel um alloy wheels which is really really awesome effects and you don't see a lot of silver on the inside so it covers a lot and I was surprised a little bit because the smaller cutouts here I was expecting a little bit better efficiency but yeah so far that was the result and thank
