2023 NCL Beverage Package Details and Updates

hey welcome to Funtime travel so some of the most common questions we get about cruising are related to the drink packages and today we're going to share details about norwegian's drink package which is probably why you clicked on this video I don't know at the end we're going to get into some details about some latitude perks that uh could save you money on your drink packages especially as you get into well uh you know the higher perks so let's get to the intro [Music] Norwegian has a trained package like most other Cruise Lines you know they have recently changed their pricing which is why we've posted this updated breakdown and additionally in 2022 NCL made the switch from Pepsi to Coke products that's big for some people yeah it's really big for some people so they used to be Pepsi but now they're Coke um you know Norwegian used to have a beer and wine package also but they've recently removed it all right so we're going to share the standard pricing for each package as well as uh like a a price breakdown for a seven day cruise and now remember Norwegian is still offering cruise deals that include the drink package as well as several other perks and it gets kind of complicated trying to decide if the drink package is right for you because you have to figure out if you're actually getting a deal now drink packages are only available for cruises that are three days or longer and every package will have a 20 gratuity added on now there are four different packages there's the soda package the unlimited Starbucks package the unlimited open bar package and then the premium plus beverage package and Norwegian also offers an option to pre-purchase water in a 6 12 or 24 pack you know of one liter bottles so obviously they have their standard free drinks coffee tea water juice machines and so on if you choose not to purchase a drink package perhaps maybe you're a light Drinker or you're not a drinker at all this works out great for you and one thing to remember about the drink packages is that they are truly unlimited within the drink package that you choose you know some of the cruise lines they have uh you know limits uh you know Carnival for instance it's 15 drinks per day so this is different though because it is truly an unlimited drink package so for the Soto program this includes unlimited Fountain sodas Coke Diet Coke Sprite ginger ale tonic water Fanta and soda water and so this package costs 9.95 a day and if you were on a seven day cruise including the gratuity it would cost you 83.58 for the entirety of the cruise so it's you know it's a fairly decent deal with the unlimited Starbucks package this includes regular coffees and teas plus Frappuccinos and their other specialty beverages right so the pricing for this is 12.95 per person per day plus their gratuity and so for seven days if you include the gratuity it's going to cost you 108.78 cents per person before we get into any of the alcohol pack let's talk about dream prices you know then you can do the math to find out what might work best for you okay so your Wines By The Glass are going to be anywhere from like eight to like twelve dollars per glass and could be as high as 27 or 30 dollars for some of their higher end selections beer is between seven and ten dollars a glass cocktails nine to Fifteen dollars and you've got some high on scotches and drinks that could be over fifteen dollars and that fifteen dollars is a magic number that we're gonna pay attention to okay so as we get into all of these uh drink packages and you're going to wonder is it worth it for you isn't it worth it for you our friend Randy Young at cruisespotlight.com has a great drink calculator that can help you decide if a drink package is worth it for you and there's a link uh to his webpage in the description below it's a fantastic website with lots of great information so it's not just great for drink calculators but it'd be a great place to If you're that are under 15 like Patron Silver and Gray Goose it includes the soda package the the juice from the fountain juices draft in bottled beer wine by the glass that is under 15 anything over fifteen dollars you're going to pay the difference plus a 20 gratuity right you also get a 20 discount on full bottles of wine and gotta remember you can only purchase two beverages per transaction right still helpful though yeah because if like I'm in the sun bathing and you want to go get us both a drink you can do that right or if I'm you know killing it in the casino all right so what's not included room service is not included mini bar drinks and drinks served in souvenir glasses if you want to get one of their fun souvenir glasses it's not included right specialty coffee and tea drinks bottled water energy drinks fresh squeezed juices and bottles of wine now this drink package costs 109 per person per day plus a 20 gratuity and for a seven day cruise that cost with the gratuity is nine hundred and fifteen dollars and sixty cents per person it seems like a lot but again we're saying at the beginning they're still offering their free at Sea deals which uh We've booked one they they um I think they're a pretty good deal for for what you're getting and with that you only pay the gratuity which is it's 152.60 okay so we'll move on to the premium plus beverage package now this includes everything in the premium beverage package with no 15 limit that's things such as patronanejo McAllen Quest and so on also included with this are the specialty coffees and teas energy drinks fresh squeezed juices bottled water that is still or sparkling and select bottles of wine so included with the specialty coffees is the unlimited Starbucks package that means all you Starbucks fans can get your Frappuccinos lattes mochachinos whatever you want you know the wine list in the dining room will have a note that shows the bottles of wine that are included and there may be some high-end bottles of wine that are not included right right okay so what else is not included room service mini bar drinks and pre-cruise wine bottle purchases are not included as a part of the premium plus beverage package now this package will cost you 138 dollars per person per day plus a 20 gratuity but remember there's so many offers with the free at Sea and so it includes that includes the premium package not Premium Plus however you can upgrade to the premium plus by paying the difference and so for a seven day cruise that would be an additional 243.60 per person but that includes the gratuities so uh you know you'll have to figure it out we're still discussing it for our next cruise to see whether we want to upgrade or not so you know you have to decide whether it's worth it for you or not here's some answers to some questions that we get quite often um you don't pay taxes on drinks unless you are in certain point ports and then you just have to pay the local tax rate on each treatment and you've already paid a gratuity but you can always tip a little extra if you want to like if we get a great you know bartender which we almost always find right you know we tend to give them a little more maybe that's because we took that's true you know drink packages work on great stir keys so that's something to remember right however they don't work at Harvest key in Belize so you know you'll just have to pay attention to that when you you can get more value for your drink package if you're on a cruise that goes to great stir up key yeah now you must be 21 to purchase a drink package uh there's a couple of weird caveats to this 18 to 20 year olds made by alcohol on round trip cruises in Europe and Australia and sometimes and this is pretty rare but sometimes yeah with the consent of a parent an 18 or 20 year old might be able to buy wine and beer on some sailings from the U.S but I wouldn't I wouldn't Bank on that don't count on it now you can't share the package if one guest in a state room buys a package any other guests in that room have to buy a package too under 21 must get the soda package now you can't pick your days uh once you buy a package you have to pay for each remaining day so if you buy before the cruise and you're you know how many days you're on that cruise for you're paying for you you might be able to save a few bucks by waiting a day or two uh but you kind of got to trade that off with the like your early purchase discount because typically you get a deal if you buy it ahead of time and uh the drink packages don't include special experiences like wine tastings beer flights you know Etc now let's move into the latitude benefits because you know it really seems like for first-time cruisers on Norwegian the best deal is to go with their free at Sea after that uh you may have to do a little bit of math because uh before your first cruise you're not in the Loyalty program right you're not loyal uh that being said uh once you get in you immediately get discounts in that first tier and so you'll have to weigh the total cost of the free at Sea against the combined cost of the deal you get on your cruise plus whatever discount you're going to get on your unlimited open beverage package you know based on your tier and we're going to go into that so latitude benefits as you can see here you get a nice discount immediately after your first cruise and here are the rewards tiers for the bronze you get 30 off for a silver and gold you get 40 left platinum and Sapphire is 45 percent in diamond and Ambassador is 50 so I mean that's a pretty good deal yeah you get one point per night for each Cruise plus you get an additional point for booking in the Haven uh and you get additional uh extra reward points per night if you book with some of those latitude rewards Insider offers so you know the points can add up pretty fast there are more benefits in each rewards tier but we're just focusing on the dream package benefits here and depending on the length of your cruise this could translate to some really good savings yeah so that's the Norwegian drink packages hopefully this
