what's up guys welcome back to the channel today we're going to look at this 2022 cvo road glide limited and wicked orange pearl now the cvo road glide limited start at 45 000 as you see it right here in this colorway is 48 000 so before we jump into the video i want to put that number into perspective for you because i think it's probably just going over your head so for the same price as the cvo rogue glide limited you could buy this bike right here now this is a brand new 2022 road glide limited absolutely love this bike so you could buy this thing and you could also buy one of these street bobs to go with it so you have two completely different but both amazing bikes for the price of that one cvo that we're about to review and just to make sure your understanding you could buy this pan america special one of these street bobs and this sportster 883 all for the same price as that beast right there so let's jump into this review and see if we can find 48 000 worth of value in this bike this is harley davidson's second most expensive bike second only to the cvo trike let's jump into the review so i've literally been standing here for like a minute trying to decide where to start on this bike usually with the harley davidson it's pretty easy i just pick something and go but there's so much to cover on this bike i'm like dude i don't even know where to start this one so i thought we would just do the normal quick walk around and let you guys kind of see this thing i hope that the camera does this paint justice this orange does have a good bit of flake in it it's smaller metal flake which i think fits the bigger flake is usually a more old school feel so the paint for one i typically don't like the loud paint but after at this point i think i've reviewed almost 100 harley-davidson's so i have read plenty of comments where people were very upset about the cvo's coming with what they were calling the plain paint job so like the gunship gray that came on i think it was the 2018 cvo and now people are really mad because you get that color on other bikes but uh just the plain green colors whatnot people were upset about that and i get where you're coming from i'm not a cvo guy and part of it is i don't like the super flashy paint but i get if you're a cvo person this is what you want to pay for you don't want to pay for one solid color no matter how good that color looks you want the pop and honestly i feel like this orange is the best of the three versions being offered this year the other two options are high tail yellow and dante's red fade i guess since we've gotta start somewhere let's start with the seat and i'm gonna start there because when i moved this bike from where it was at in the showroomed over here it's a big heavy bike i just rode the thing over here but sitting on the seat said wow this is the first seat that i feel like i would really do long distance on that comes factory from harley-davidson again keep in mind everything we talk about this video 48 thousand dollars so i'm not willing to accept anything less than amazing with this bike and this seat is pretty much that i mean on most harleys this is the back rest you would get this one you have this supplemental like a lumbar backrest this is a very nice like suede type material right here and you can even tell with the leather this is a much more premium seat covering than what comes on the rest of the bikes now for your passenger they're going to get those same materials that same it's really kind of hard to tell because the saddle bag but that is a thick seat so your passenger is going to be super happy back here small ish armrest they're going to have speakers so they'll have no trouble hearing the music but also i want to point out one thing that some people don't realize the cvo comes factory with heated seats so not only is this the first harley davidson seat that i can confidently say i would be fine doing long distance on it's also the first seat that i don't think people are going to want to change i can't imagine how you upgrade from that now cosmetically yeah not the best looking seat ever but dude you don't see the seat when you're riding on the bike i think the trade-off and the comfort and quality of materials is well worth the thicker maybe less attractive look that the seat has since we started with the seat i guess we'll jump into like the rider's area kind of what you're going to see where you're going to feel and experience starting with the heated grips so before i had ever ridden a bike with heated grips i was pulling used bikes in here at tims someone had turned the dial for the heated grip so you've got a few different settings here i think these newer ones have more settings i don't remember the old ones having that many settings but either way someone had turned the heated grips on and just in the short distance from the front of the dealership back into the service department i noticed the grips heating up now heated grips aren't something i like would consider myself buying but after doing a colder ride on the pan america special not long ago that does come factory with heated grips i found myself using them almost the whole time so i'm no longer going to knock guys that want to run heated grips they are really nice especially if you refuse to wear thick gloves like me so you'll also notice your gauge cluster here we've got a lot of glare my apologies for that but you'll notice on your gauge cluster really nice it's got the little details i don't know what they're called these little silver marks here but they're kind of like a nice watch if you will so i'll turn them on maybe that'll help with the lighting just a little bit but much more [Music] but much more premium than what your standard bikes are going to have your infotainment is going to be the same all your gauges are actually the same it's just going to be a different look but i do have to say like even the font and stuff that they used i like it's a really clean like i mean it looks performance to me so one thing that i found strange was that they did these nice chrome housings but you still get the standard black switches and i've commended harley before on like their premium fit and finish with their switch housings in particular when you compare them to other manufacturers especially the metric stuff the other brands just feel super cheap these hurley ones feel premium and these obviously no exception i just found it weird that they're gonna chrome these housings and then leave the switches black i don't think it looks bad especially since this bike has so much black on it but i thought that was weird another interesting thing is on your cvo you still get this style gas cap so for a long time this is what the road glides were running the street glides were running the road kings were running and then they switched to that more streamlined console i don't hate this one but i do prefer the look of what they've done on the newer street glides and road glides a little better and for clarification they've done it on the special models your standard models still are running that setup and this is the street glide st but that doesn't matter it still qualifies as a special and this is what i mean by streamline in case you haven't seen them all they've done to do this is remove the the gas filler from the center here that little door that we opened and then they've just moved your gas cap over to the side so your tank is not symmetrical but that low profile look just looks so much cleaner to me you do get the 117 milwaukee 8 in this bike now some people were upset that the rogue glide and street glide st models are now coming with the 117 but keep in mind those are supposed to be harley's performance bike so if harley would have went ahead and put say the 122 in the cvo then it doesn't look good that they have a performance bike but also put out a motorcycle from the factory with a bigger displacement engine than their performance bagger so i think that's part of the reason that they've done that but what i wanted to point out with this 117 that's unique to this bike is you do get these i just call them like platinum engine cases i'm sure they've got a name and if you know it feel free to leave it down in the comments and help me out so i've always just referred to this as like the platinum cases again i don't know if this will translate on camera but it's like a dark like a gunmetal gray color or something it just looks better than the black to me especially when you keep this bike up so we get in use bikes here at tims from time to time and when they've got these platinum engine cases and they've been cared for it really shows when the bike's got some age but those engine cases are still clean and while we're down here this is a good time to point out one of the things that makes a cvo a cvo is harley will always do some kind of collection now the floorboards on the touring bikes usually leave a good bit to be desired they are very plain jane nothing special at all but on the cvos they give you nice floorboards uh nice brake pedal even your passenger floorboards here so you'll see that's what it looks like when it's up so that's the underneath side and then you've got a nice passenger floorboard same collection same design as the front so it matches much more premium than what's going to come on the other models we've already talked about the grips but they're kind of going to match that same collection onto the mirrors again just a much more premium mirror and then you are going to get highway pegs from the factory with the cvo which is a really nice feature because they're also really premium but once again they match that same design that they've done throughout the rest of the bike now one thing i noticed the other day is someone trying to open these so on the older model touring bikes these would open and they are storage but on the newer bikes that have the liquid cooled heads just like this one does it's a fan and radiator in there so with that this does not open it is a cover that will pop off so technically it does open it doesn't open for storage however if you're familiar with the road glide you will know that there is storage up here as well as on the other side but on your cvo you're going to get this nice liner inside so instead of just having that rough plastic kind of like what's around the edge here it's going to take a little bit better care of your stuff so say for example you just throw your cell phone in there it's not going to get all beat up now you've got usb so you can for one update the bike they just hook a little flash drive in there to do the updates two you can hook your phone and pair it to the bike through this cord this cord will charge your phone with my experience it's not the fastest charging thing in the world but it will keep your phone from dying now you do have one on the other side as well also lined and i mean even just those kind of hard to do with one hand but even just those ridges inside i feel like a really really nice touch you also have a little charger here if you want to plug in your 12 volt stuff when i mentioned charging a phone i would probably do it from there versus that usb port now you'll notice that this is branded with rockford fosgate harley-davidson has teamed up with rockford to make a really really nice sound system nice to the point where pretty much all the guys here at the dealership with touring bikes have upgraded to these rockford systems they have done so many of these installs and i know because a lot of guys are putting them in the saddlebag lids and when i walk back in the service department i cringe watching the techs take a saw because you literally cut this front corner out they do a phenomenal job it just makes me really nervous so that's why i notice it every time and know that they've done so many of those kits i'm not going to say anything but for those of you that watch the channel regularly you'll appreciate what we're looking at we're going to leave it at that they've done nice turn signals on this bike for those that don't watch the channel or this is the first video of mine that you've watched this windshield so it's a taller windshield which i get doesn't look the greatest being that height but it is very functional and i mentioned doing long distance because of that seat again at a certain point for me i don't give a crap what the bike looks like i want it functional and comfortable this is just that however looking at it before i started this review i started thinking i was like man if it was tinted or just lightly smoked i think that would do a lot for this bike cosmetically so again with the fit and finish on your brake lines you've got this nice steel braided coated cable super premium looks really really high-end i wish harley could make it make sense to do this on all of their bikes i know it's a little more premium i know it's going to cost a little bit more but it looks so much better with that also chrome forks on this cvo as you would expect but like i've said in the past harley offers bikes that are blacked out and when you buy the blacked out bike you get the blacked out forks but if you buy a chrome version of say like a road glide special street glide special name the bike it doesn't come with chrome lowers that's another thing i really wish harley would start doing from the factory is chrome lowers because they can do it significantly cheaper because if you and i want to upgrade to it now we have to pay labor to get that done in addition to the parts that we're going to have to buy whereas harley could just bolt them right on from the factory now with those chrome forks i know i'm really asking a lot but chrome brake rotors would have looked really nice now you're not going to be able to do a lot of chrome but just in these areas here i do think it would make the front end of this bike look that much more premium they've done a nice wheel they've done a nice chrome lower i just feel like we could have gone the extra mile and done those rotors okay so opening up this tour pack you'll see that it's still lined in that nice material like i was talking about in the front storage so you get that all throughout all of this stuff that we're going to plunder through right now uh does come factory with this bike so this is a headset you used to get two of these i'm pretty certain back when i was doing sales in like 2015 that you would get two of these uh with the bike but now it clearly says quantity one so i guess you're getting one this is a bike cover and these are super super nice uh this one's made specifically for the cvo obviously it will fit any model but it's branded with cvo it's a very premium bike cover now i don't recommend letting your motorcycle sit outside no matter how expensive how cheap it is your bike's just gonna go to crap real real quick but this is great if you keep your bike in the garage keeps dust and stuff off please people do not park your motorcycles outside if you can help it when i was young i would literally even put my bike inside the house mostly to prevent theft but also to keep my stuff nice this is for your garage door opener i think so for those that have never seen it this is the cvo key fob so you've got your key and fob made into one nice little package just hit the button here your barrel key pops out which is really nice so you'll see lock and unlock and that's going to lock and unlock your saddle bags i don't know if you could hear it but you hit lock and it locks but one thing that i like is when you hit unlock you've got this nice light here as well as lights it's hard to see but you've got a nice light there as well that shines down in your saddlebags and trust me at night you need those more than you think you do you're going to get this harley davidson bag that's designed to go inside this space and fit nice and neat and then it's the same story inside your saddlebags with the nice liner and then both saddle bags have these harley davidson bags that are the same exact shape as your saddle bag and it's designed to go in there perfectly now i always thought those were cheesy and gimmicky until trying to stuff regular sized bags or backpacks in those saddlebags that are not that shape and not designed to go in there that bag is basically going to prevent you from over packing and make sure that you get your stuff in there because trust me there's been plenty of times where i've had to take stuff out of my bags or shove it down in there and have the lid just be a little bit too tight for comfort now being a cvo you do have premium lighting all the way around this bike as most of you probably know as fellow motorcycle enthusiasts there's no such thing as too many lights now i don't think you should put colored neons under your bike that's just my personal opinion on that but what i mean is for visibility and safety it's nice to have bright led lighting and plenty of it all the way around the bike and the cvo is going to do that for you now i was pleasantly surprised to see the non-stretch bags on this bike but i don't really understand it since this bike has dual exhaust i would have assumed harley would do the stretch bags with the cutouts because i feel like that's what a lot of people are going to want i could be wrong and again i don't want that but based on what i've seen based on what i've heard i feel like the majority of people like the stretch bags on bikes like these so that's another one let me know your thoughts on that so before i give you my final thoughts on this bike and whether or not i think it's absurd to pay 48 000 for harley davidson i'll give you guys one more quick walk around now this is a cvo tons of bells and whistles part of me feels like we rushed through it but i'm not really like the get into all the specs kind of guy for a much deeper dive into the cvo i would refer you guys to matt laidlaw who's been doing these review videos much longer than me but i'm not one of those people that think if you start watching his videos you're going to stop watching mine and if you do it's because you enjoy his more and that's what you should be doing but my point in saying that is that matt does a fantastic job really diving into like the background of the cvo's and the heritage and all that kind of stuff you know kind of how it was created and gets into the paint and he's just a little more connected in that harley-davidson world than i am so if you want a more in-depth review of this bike i don't know that he's put one out on this particular bike yet but take a look and see if not watch another one of his cvo videos and i'm sure you'll get what i'm trying to say so i know at the beginning of the video i pointed out how insanely expensive this bike is but working in a harley davidson dealership has shown me that it's not really that insane and that's because over the lifetime of ownership of a bike i've seen people easily put ten thousand dollars in their bike now granted they're doing it a couple hundred dollars at a time but you still kind of end up at this point and what harley's done with these cvo's is they're done you get on it you write it you don't think about anything you don't have to do anything you don't have to mess with anything although a lot of people still do there's nothing that you need to do to this bike unless you just want to personalize it which is another point i want to make if that's one thing you're into i personally enjoy personalizing the bike almost as much as i like riding the bike so with that for me this makes zero sense because harley got to have all the fun yeah i'm gonna get to ride it and not have to worry about all that other stuff but when you enjoy that other stuff it's not really that big of a deal as always i'd love to hear from you guys leave me a comment and let me know are you team cbo or team do it yourself thanks for watching subscribe if you're not already give me a thumbs up if you watch the whole video and i'll catch you in the next one
