[Music] [Music] [Music] hey what's up guys matt here coming to you from laidlaw harley-davidson what's going on guys my name is andrew i work at sales here in laidlaw's harley-davidson and matt and i just got off the brand new 2022 cvo road glide if you guys are interested in harley davidson content make sure you hit that subscribe button to subscribe to the most comprehensive harley davidson content channel on youtube [Music] so we're gonna do a walk around first on the 2022 cvo road glide and this color is the wicked orange pearl you know i have to say when the colors were first released i got to see all the different colors on all the bikes and you have the envious green you have the blue steel i thought right away the blue steel is going to be my favorites and this bike came the orange one and the more i looked at the more i saw it the more i kind of fell in love with it i'm not really a guy that likes the really bright loud flashy colors but like i said the more this bike is around the more i fall in love with just the the artistry that went into this bike and just all the labor and the detail that the painters at gunslinger put into this set i'm more of a solid color guy i really like the sand dune cvos the mako shark fade was a another little nice bike that i liked obviously the gunship gray but after seeing this bike in person and seeing it out in sunlight it is absolutely stunning the pearl in that orange paint just absolutely pops this is one of the two sets that is an extra three thousand dollars premium on top of the almost forty two thousand dollar price tag so this bike msrp is just shy of forty five thousand dollars i covered this in a video before but there are two paint sets the high tail and the wicked orange pearl that you pay an extra three thousand dollars for you know back for i believe it's the second year now you've got the two-piece laced wheel here so you've got the spokes mounted on the exterior of the rim there kind of like the pan america so you get a tubeless tire there you've got led lights all the way around obviously with the cvos just every finish every trim piece on the entire bike has been upgraded in some way so tons of chrome this bike has the chrome finishes some of the cbo's like the blue steel are a little bit different with the finishes the blue steel i believe they have what's called smoked chrome it's a little bit darker chrome on there and on the mds green which is the green and black with flames on it that i believe has all the black finishes on the engine this bike coming back now i believe since 2019 year they've had the kahuna collection on these bikes which is a collection that i still love today i feel like it's still really really good and it definitely has that premium nature behind it and so you've got the kahuna collection on here that's your floorboards your brake pedal your shifter pegs your heated grips on here on this bike you've got a lot of chrome chrome front ends chrome bars just a lot of the accents on the engine or chrome so definitely a very flashy bike back now for a second year in a row you've got the rockford fosgates boom audio stage 2 speakers so that was a new release last year stereo system is awesome it sounds incredibly good even at really high volumes you've still got a lot of that bass and treble clarity to it so definitely a top of the line stereo system on here and the the rockford fosgate sound system is absolutely stunning man it it will blow your drums out if you let it i every fairing bagger that i had i always upgrade the the stereo system as far as the stage 2 boom audio i've heard different stereo systems so on and so forth having the sounds i mean that's kind of why i like having a fairing bike one for the wind protection 2 for the the audio and harley absolutely killed it with this this rockford fosgate system you've got harley-davidson 6.5 boom audio gts system which has been out since the 19 model year so with that you've got your navigation you've got your bluetooth stuff you've got your phone capabilities that's been that way for a while now you get headset with the bike as well so you get the wireless capability with the the wireless headset interface module on the bike as well you do not have serious xm satellite radio on this bike that's a common question that i get probably used to have their xm receiver on their cvos back i want to say it's probably been five years ago or more they stopped doing it my guess is that there just wasn't that many people taking advantage of that part so they just took it off because not very many people were activating the sirius xm on the bike so you don't you don't have that going around the bike one of the things that's kind of cool about the cbo's as well is you have you know locking capability remotely on your key and you also have electronic locks on the dash as well you know things like your interfering is all color matched as well on here the seats a very cool two-piece seat as well a lot of detail in there you've got almost like this softer like suede material on there as well and different panels of the seat just really really high-end stuff that in in most circumstances you'd only see that kind of custom bike the seat the stitching and the seat the alcatera type material they use on the seat is absolutely nice it's just every finish on this is it's second to none on this color and also the envious green you have the stretch saddle bags which is more of the slammed bagger look the slammed big wheel profile bagger as a lot of people refer to them as on the blue steel you have the shorter bags on there i've yet to see that color in person but the shorter bags lend the style a little bit more in favor of performance we're seeing this big shift right now from the big wheel big stereo flashy paint baggers that we've seen now for you know probably close to two decades and a lot of guys now the way that they're building out to their baggers is in a performance bagger nature right so the shorter bags are definitely something that have a little bit more of a place on a bike that is more geared towards that performance bagger look so the blue steel cvo road glide i feel like is a little bit more geared towards the guy that might do some performance upgrades on it that want the additional lean angle maybe they're doing a two into one exhaust pipe that looks a lot better than a two into one on a bike that has the stretch bags you have the stretch bags there's two holes on the back and so if you just have a pipe coming out one side it looks really bad and there's like an empty hole in the left hand side so the short bags solve that problem if you're doing a two into one pipe which a two into one pipe is always gonna be a better performing pipe than a two into one into two which comes stock on these road guides here so we have harley davidson's biggest factory engine on here the 117 cubic inch engine this thing puts out about 125 foot pounds of torque below that like on a 114 you're looking at around i want to say 116 foot pounds of torque so you've got a little less than 10 percent more or torque on this and you know horsepower wise on the 114 you got 88 horsepower this is putting out i want to say somewhere around 95 96 97 horsepower at the rear wheel so those are your power figures definitely really strong power on this bike speaking of the power and the power delivery i feel like the cam profile on the 117s favor a higher speed like a higher rpm you definitely still have a lot of that low end torque but i feel like you really get the full potential and the full advantage of having the 117 engine when you get up on the freeway and you're doing roll ons from 65 to 80 miles an hour or more that's where i feel like the power is the most noticeably better than like the 114 for example this year we've got some st models in the mix and you've got your road glide st you've got your low rider and you've got your street glide st they all have the 117 this year you also have the 117 on the lowrider s as well so you've got four other bikes with the 117 this model year and so if you're looking for just that big motor then you have other options this year a lot of times guys would come in they just wanted the biggest motor and the best performing motorcycle from the factory and so they went to the cvo but some of those guys didn't necessarily want to pay for all the additional goodies and everything that came on the cvos as far as premium motorcycles go you'd be hard-pressed to find a nicer factory motorcycle in the world and so the cvo's really are the benchmark for the industry as far as all-in custom cruisers owning a road glide and putting about 7 000 miles on a road glide and going on long distance trips on it and riding this one my road glide was a 114 it had a stage one on it it felt like it had a lot of power doing a stage one really woke up the bike it was kind of mushy it was a 2019 but after doing the stage one and kind of just letting the air flow through it gave a lot better throttle response i mean nothing that throw you back into the seat but definitely you felt the power difference in the throttle response riding this one here with a 117 you do feel power difference as far as a 114 to 117 and most of the time you'll feel it from the mid to higher range rpm it is really nice i mean any stock motor i feel just needs a little bit done to it and that's just me personally i always need to throw an exhaust and an intake and kind of tune it where it wakes up the potential that it does have not to say this thing is a slug or anything or any of the bikes but just kind of when they come from the factory they've got a half and 50 state regulated so there's that area where they have to keep it legal you've also got the fang spoilers on here so it's the the spoilers that come down from the bottom of the fairing and come down towards the the engine guard on here they came out i want to see in the 2019 model year this is a really nice part that's a color matched part that really spruces up and gives the whole front fascia of the bike a really nice face lift it also has a sporty nature to it as well some people ask me okay well is there any performance benefit from the fang spoilers i personally haven't really experienced any performance benefit i'd be surprised if there is a performance benefit but aesthetically it definitely gives it a little bit erasier edgier look to it and so i like it just from a style standpoint so i've ridden the cvo road glides quite a bit in the last you know 15 years they've been making them the cbo road glides really saw a big shift in the 2018 model year that's when they first started using the 21 inch wheel on the front and so the the suspension the ride characteristics and the handling characteristics changed a little bit at that time and the profile of the bike really changed as well i mean you put a 21 inch wheel up front it's only two inches larger than the 19 but it really makes a dramatic presence change in the bike with that wheel on there all in all the suspension's been changed a little bit they dropped the front spring a little on the front end to compensate for that bigger wheel so the kickstand still stands correctly and the bike still sits correctly and so between that and the larger 21 inch wheel i feel like you're compromising the ride and the handling slightly i i wouldn't not get the bike because you feel like it's gonna be compromised dramatically when compared to a 19 inch front wheel but just entering turns you can feel like it's a little bit sleepier when you enter a turn again this is a bike that you're not going to be probably buying to to shave seconds off your canyons times a 21 doesn't really handle better than a 19 inch mag and that's what i had on the 19 row glide i just feel the a smaller wheel mag wheel handles a little bit better and aggressive riding through canyons and stuff like that but you can't doubt the fact that this looks absolutely amazing i mean the outside rim where the spokes go into it's just it's black paint with a chrome finished outside it's just absolutely incredible looking it's a big wheel bagger you know it's a profiling it's a bad ass cruiser hitting the boulevard you can get out on the road if you are going to go out on the open road you know it's a great freeway bike tons of power there i would do a couple modifications personally you know i'd probably change the suspension change the seats just something more comfortable probably do a little bit taller windshield on there with those three changes you know this this bike can be converted into something that's going to haul across the country as well but you know right now with the way it's set up it's great for day rides you know and like i said with a few modifications you can change that into like a long haul tour obviously you can put the backrest on the back for a passenger and things like that again this seat is geared towards style and the profile and the sleekness of the design of the bike it's not really geared towards long haul multiple hour hundreds of miles in a day riding and so again it's a seat change it's two bolts you can change that out if you want like a long haul cruiser or you can just if you're that type of a rider that does mostly overnighters and does long distance you can just get the road glide limited so this model year they did away from the ultra limited we've seen the ultra limited in the lineup i think consistently since like 2006 or 2007 you know never missing a model year so this is the first time in a long time we haven't seen the ultra limited i think it was very smart for harley davidson to change it up and do the road glide limited i don't really don't think we need both of those bikes in any one model year and so to have it mixed up the shark knows fairing for us at our dealership are growing in popularity they're more popular now than the batwing fairing models just speaking from a sales standpoint so to have the shark nose fairing limited all-in you know tourer i think that was a smart move on behalf of the motor company now as far as owning a roguelite special and doing a lot of modifications to it as far as aesthetics i've done the rear fender front fender speaker system grips and all that fun stuff and and the person that's kind of deciding between the two with the cvo you get everything that harley has to offer on it heated grips you get the kahuna collection the 117 the wheels that aren't available on any other touring bike so as far as recommending this bike and the person that i would recommend it to it's kind of the guy that just loves the premium stuff that is kind of in the balance of fully modifying a special or an st to the guy that just wants the cvo and done with it of course any of you guys out there like me you can't leave anything stock if i got a cvo there's always something to do with it but not as much the paint job is done obviously a lot of people do bars and exhausts and stuff like that and that's just minor stuff i think buying a cvo you got the wheels you got the look not many people are going to be running around on these things and not to mention that the stereo kit's already done so it's for that guy that is going to drop 10 to 12 grand on a roguelite special and do paint and powder coat and because i kind of done that with my 19 i've done the rear fender i've done the front fender bars i've done powder coating on the wheels so all that it adds up to a certain point so if i were to start with a cvo yes i would be putting a little bit of money into it but not as much but i think the end product with me investing in a cvo and doing what i like to do to it would be a lot nicer and more unique than i would have done to my 19. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so who i think the ideal customer is for this bike is a guy that wants a bike that is really head and shoulders as far as the the premium nature of it just the looks the style the uniqueness of the paint i mean we're never going gonna see this style of paint ever again you've got a lot of stuff going on a lot of hand labor and that paint as well so somebody that values all that stuff on the bike and really wants the value of it to be retained monetarily on the bike as well the cvo's are a great investment a lot of times guys will buy a regular row glide and spends 30 grand on it or whatever to make it something like this and you're never really going to get that value out of it if you sell the bike in three or four or five years the cvos you're still gonna get a high mark for it because stock from the factory everything is recognized that's on the bike it's all warrantied this is a factory recognized paint set which is really nice as well you know they're somewhat limited in the production it might only be like 1500 per color or something like that in the world and so it's for the guy that wants everything factory harley davidson has done their r d on everything the ride the handling the geometry of everything the rider's triangle has all been tested and approved by harley davidson motor company a lot of times when people get into doing a lot of modifications on their bikes they change something they change the bars they change the wheels and they realize oh wow with these heavy wheels my bike doesn't accelerate as good it doesn't handle as good it doesn't break as good you know all that stuff so you're creating problems sometimes when you try to create this unique bike don't get me wrong it's it's fun to do that but for the guy that doesn't want the headache of all that stuff he just wants something beautiful amazing out of the box that's going to get a lot of looks and it's definitely a bike that you're going to turn around and take a look at and every time you get off it then a cvo is a really good choice i really feel like too that you have to take a close look at your use case as well are you a guy that just wants something beautiful to roll down pch or roll up to your local restaurant or hit up a bike night at or something like that and you do the occasional couple hundred miles in a day ride then the cvo road glide is awesome but like i said before if you're a guy that is gonna be putting on your passenger a lot you're gonna be doing three four five six hundred miles in a day with a passenger staying at a hotel and doing it again the next day then i would heavily recommend the road glide limited at that point everything about it the seat the suspension the fairing the windshield the tour pack the back rest the rider backrest and the passenger backrest are just all things that are worth their weight in gold when it comes to long-haul touring so again this is a little bit more of a profiling boulevard cruiser a day rider something really flashy that favorite style and the look over some of the functional benefits that we see in in long-haul cruiser motorcycles let me know what you guys think about the 2022 model year cvo road glide leave your thoughts in the comment section below do you like it do you hate it do you like the paint this year do you not like it i did a video a couple weeks ago about the recap and my thoughts on the global launch and i mentioned in there that the paint i think took a different direction this year and i think a better way to describe that is i just really diversified this year they've tried to make several individual styles the blue still definitely favors the guy like myself that likes the cool solids and the unique finishes on the engine trim and then they have paint sets they're really loud and bold that favor making a statement it's kind of like the wicked orange pearl here another thing that i said is i feel like they're overdue for a displacement bump but then i got to thinking about harley-davidson historically and i think just maybe our expectations are just a lot higher than they used to be for harley davidson i mean they ran the twin cam 110 from 07 to 2016 to about 10 years and there wasn't a whole lot of complaining about it then that the engines weren't getting bumped up every three or four years so this is now the fifth year in a row that we've seen the cubic inch on the cvos so we're really only half the time that the twin cam 110 was around i think the bottom line is there's so much more to a cvo than just the displacement although i do feel like that's a big factor and i do feel like the cvo's should have a decent margin on most of the other bikes out there anyways thanks for watching guys if
