afternoon everyone time for another video sorry it's long overdue it's my 2021 tesla model 3 long range i just thought i'd show people the real life ownership experience coming back to the car walk up to the car open the door handle step in tells me that someone's been near my car and then this is real time so felt on the brake lights will come on move the indicator stalk to drive car tells me i'm in drive it tells me i need to put my seatbelt on put my seatbelt on foot off the brake pedal nothing happens he'll hold buttons on and we start absolute silence i'm actually just going to reverse back because i thought i'd just take an opportunity while in this spot tell you a few more things about the ownership experience i've had this car just over two weeks now i've done in that time twelve thousand sorry 1 259 miles uh using 357 kilowatts an average of 284 watt hours per mile and it took me a little while to get my head around that but that's a moderate number it would say so tesla claims this car will do 350 miles out of a full charge i uh i will treat that like i treat all claimed car maker fuel economy um um uh in the i don't know how they achieved that uh if this number so the smaller this number is the more efficient the car is so on a 75 kilowatt-hour battery 75 000 divided by 284 gives somewhere around 260 miles from a full charge so if it was divided by if this number was 300 then we'd get 250 miles out of a full 100 charge if that number was 250 then we'd get 300 miles so 284 is somewhere around the middle so 275-ish which is plenty i mean how often do you drive 270 miles in a day i certainly don't i drive 40 miles each way for my commute which uses about a third of the battery because it's all entirely motorway speeds i have chosen on the settings to use my battery as a percentage it just feels more normal to me you can set this in the internal menu to do miles range to go but i i just felt that that would be so far too um variable depending on speed and various other things so i prefer just a percentage and it can just count down um if we go into this mode this button here so this button energy you can see my energy consumption graph over the last 30 miles showing my average is again 288 so most of my motorways are most of my driving is on a motorway so this would be a fairly typical 70 72 ish motorway cruise um uh those of us who are coming to a tesla from a diesel car for example would be uh interested to see i mean tesla's an electric cars in general they're not best served driving a steady speed on a motorway because they just have to keep on putting power into the motors and they don't get to do any regenerative braking these cars are most efficient on b roads i think with a little bit of acceleration steady speed at maybe 40 or 50 miles an hour and then uh lots of corners and braking to take energy back i haven't got any science to back that up that's just my perspective but um but then in a motorway there's no there's very little regeneration going on so the battery life is not so good um uh i wanted to show a few more things um oh this is nice i haven't even seen this this little icon here tells me that i've got a software update to do i'm not going to press it with you watching because i think it brings up the vin number of my car yes it does so i'm just going to take that away for a moment but it says here that i've got a software update pending which is nice so i'll set that up when i get home we'll just get out and have a quick look at the car shall we and then i'll sign off for the day so i went for the as i'm sure you've seen from other videos i went for the the blue i absolutely love the blue parked and parked very straight did i i wanted to stay away from the cars on that side and this this porsche obviously stayed even further away from me he's got the best spot in this car park but i think the blue with the new black trims looks amazing i think the silver with the blue looks good as well um but i think particularly this new black room really sets off the car nicely i think the best is the white actually perversity and it's the free one the white with the black trim looks amazing um i think it's a really smart car everyone wants to have a look at these new headlights there was a lot more um information there's a lot more detail going on inside the headlight on the old headlights and i wonder whether there's going to be some sort of matrix mode or maybe even steering mode in future versions of this although i can confirm it doesn't do that yet i think the blue the blue in the sunlight looks amazing the aero wheels the updated aero wheels i'm really pleased with as well i think it's a really smart car i don't have a single bad thing to say about it after 1200 miles of ownership um other than you know there's no way it's going to make the 350 miles that uh tesla claim it will [Music] i think my previous video i showed you the boot in the dark here is the boot in some sunlight there's lots of space you can see i haven't kept this part particularly not desperately keeping it clean is to be used there's a usable space down there you come to the type two charger and they're in that black box here's the three pin plug those come with the car if you're getting one delivered make sure you've got both of those you're supposed to have one apparently i'm also supposed to have some mud flaps but i don't so i've got a service booked in with tesla to get those installed there you go do you like that someone was asking me on the comments how is there space for children there's plenty plenty of space that's a maxi cozy oh is it a two-way pearl possibly it's got the two-way fix isofix base and then that is the uh i've got a 13 month old who sits in that one there's enough space behind the passenger there's plenty of leg room for the passenger there you can go a lot further forward if you wanted to and then i've got a another car seat for my older girl who sits here i have her sat behind me because just gives a little bit more space for her legs and it lets me have my seat a little bit further back although you can see actually the driver's seat the passenger seat are the same distance apart and there is space i just didn't like the idea and i might actually move my passenger seat forward a bit just i don't like the idea of it rubbing i bought some um some fairly thick protectors just to protect the uh entirely leather looking material um but they do a good job i had them in my bmw for well over a year before work really nicely and uh i think that's all i've got to say today nine minutes of me talking that's more than anyone's willing to listen to if you want to look at the car i don't blame you i think it looks really smart i got far enough away so it locked all right signing off i'll see you again
