sight in all of sports than this stadium on this day add to it a game deep fried and a pressure cooker of a bitter rivalry and you've got this beautiful event we call ou texas there's nothing like it it's an american sports masterpiece here we go sooners will kick off right to left in the visiting road whites texas will defend the north end zone desean jameson and roshan johnson are deep berkich looks left points right approaches the football toe the leather and we are underway in the 117th red river showdown the kick went to roshan johnson who called for fair catch and texas will start on the 25. well the kid from newcastle oklahoma whose dad played for oklahoma was a star for oklahoma whose brother played for oklahoma is the quarterback at texas casey thompson leads the longhorns onto the field with bijan robinson at running back two wide receivers stacked left and the tight end cade brewer set up in a wing left from the 25 yard line going left to right brewer the tight end in motion in a pistol formation it's a quick throw out to the left caught by xavier worthy he takes it across the 30 and he's gonna go first play of the game xavier worthy 75-yard touchdown for texas there are no flags well texas comes down 12 personnel they got two tight ends they put those guys in a pair on the right side of the formation all they throw is a bubble to the left you got one blocker out in front one ball carrier we've got an open guy unblocked there to make the tackle and we don't get him down we stop our feet we don't close and not enough pursuit from the other side to come across and help on the tackle there's nothing you can do about that you defensively when you've got a uh unblocked defender that's one-on-one with the guy and you can't bring him down that's what happens cameron dicker's extra point is good we're 14 seconds in fireworks already 75-yard touchdown for texas on the opening play from casey thompson to true freshman xavier worthy his fifth touchdown of the season guys and i think that that play for oklahoma's defense is even worse than we thought i think dgy reactivated that hammy on that play trying to chase it down yeah he's um he's walking pretty gingerly on the sidelines so it was bad enough it just got worse yeah he ran over there and uh dove at him once that tackle was broke you know and this is one of my keys to the game and that this it's staying the fight because we know that there's going to be momentum swings we know texas is going to make some plays defensively you can't all of a sudden become uh reactionary you got to stay aggressive and i know plays like that typically put you on your heels but you can't allow that to happen because that's when that's when they're really going to burn you again and turn one bad experience defensive front it's it's going to be plays like that backs running through the trash those are where some of these plays are going to come from so they just got to keep building keep first catch of the day for marvin mims and it's first down it's pretty strange texas is playing super aggressive that's not what we've seen we've seen two high safeties for the most part this season and it's been hard to formulate any type of you know plays down the field in texas that's what they've done this year but all of a sudden they've come out the last couple of plays in some ultra aggressive front seven looks first and ten from the twelve sooners go four wide gray now in the backfield rattler gonna throw looks right looks middle throws across the middle that's caught hazel up and rattler wisely threw it into the cheerleaders it'll be third and three interesting you know because of the way this game started you can get a first down here but i you gotta you gotta imagine this is probably four down territory it's really early in the football game so you don't necessarily have to do it but it would not shock me at all third and three bowl in the left hash woods and hazelwood to the near side double tanks to the four kennedy brooks in the backfield on the left tip of spencer rattler he's got the ball it is a handoff to brooks over the right side crashing his way to the two i think he's got the first down this will depend on the spot tackled by brockermeyer rooks over the right side with a run down to the two yard line and what do we got here it's a first down first and goal fourth first down to the opening drive or of this drive for oklahoma feels like their opening drive second drive of the game another really nice individual effort there by rolling on goal line and the suitors are on the board really nice play there they just fake the zone to kennedy brooks and then it's the boot play jeremiah hall releases draws the end guy in coverage that leaves spencer outlet with enough space to get just inside the goal line there for the touchdown nice play third touchdown run of the year for rattler and our first game berkich field goal signing point treat this like this is the start of the game just forget everything that's happened up to this point and i'll add this i mean honestly teddy there hasn't really been many adjustments that he vince has had to make because there has only been what three offensive plays so far but i will say roy manning was adamant that you've got to rally to the ball to help out guys regardless of where you are right at the line of scrimmage 405 to go first quarter 21-7 longhorns third and 13 from the 22. oklahoma goes right to left here in quarter one trips to the near side need a play rattler's got it four-man rush rattler in the pocket still looking now he's under pressure now he's down alfred collins back at the 15. it's a three and out and spencer's uh rattled here he feels the pressure it's not there it's actually pretty decent protection from the beginning he's got to get that ball out but a second effort there from collins coming around the corner is able to get there and finish off formations shifts motions at us and our eyes are in trouble almost every single snap we've got to calm down we've got to settle in trust your responsibilities defensively on offense we got to win the line of scrimmage there's no doubt we absolutely have to win the line of scrimmage the penetration in the running game and in the passing game is killing our rhythm we had one drive where we got off to a nice start we started running the football and you know we're able to hit on some stuff texas has come out in a aggressive front seven that has given us some some trouble we need to settle in the far they've been a conservative group two high safeties but so far this game they are bringing pressure they're playing the bear front with a single high safety on the top and gap sound underneath he's been one of their best offensive linemen and juanya morris hasn't seen a lot of snaps at right tackle nor has what maybe eric swenson could shift out there yeah so we'll see we'll see what bill decides to do here but you know through my eyes tyrus robinson has been their best offensive lineman this season he's he's played at the most consistent level every single game and this is this is a big loss for them now we'll see if beaten beau decides to go with swenson or not but i would assume we'll go with juanie morris but yeah this is a really unfortunate loss for oklahoma's offensive line
