the green flag waves we're ready to go 20 21 is underway the balwa grand prix of qatar is go not a great start initially from banyara look at miller coming through from the second row the ducatis are blasting it the yamahas have been swallowed up and into turn one it's banyara from miller jorge martin started 14th he's only up inside the top three that ducati launch device is absolutely out of this world where did he come from incredible zarko was six he's got inside the top three to ktm tech three ktm has gone down not sure which one catty start device is phenomenal they've got four bikes inside the top four they're pretty related spargo was also in fifth the yamaha's got absolutely swallowed off the line incredible launch alicia's bug row is about to be passed by fabio cuatraro he had to do that ross he's been passed as well by his old teammate maverick vignellis it was a horoscope for franco morbidelli by the way he's in 16th as danilo petrucci trudges away in the gravel trap yeah not what he needed he needed a race under his belt to get a crucial experience yeah it's the latest fargo who gets picked off by valentino rossi the two suzuki's of rins and mia they've not made any great inroads at the moment they're still hovering around ninth and tenth place another fastest lap here from banyara but it's immediately bettered fabio cuatararo the fastest man here comes the world champion dranmeer up the inside of valentino rossi so mere now up into eighth place now remember folks the suzukis are world champions for very good reason and then just up the inside of miller through turn 15. now that this could be the most disheartening experience of fabio cuatro though because when miller winds up the wick to sixth gear on that ducati although quattro has got pretty good drive hasn't he coming off i've turned 16. he has but look at this oh that's just ridiculous that's like a warm knife carving through butter and now he's not having it though he's closing the door excellent excellent stuff from the frenchman oh that was a game of dare and chance on the brakes wasn't it in the first corner miller didn't even have a slipstream there steve and he was still able to blitz by the yamaha a bike noise i'm sure unless i'm hearing things matt but i thought i just heard oh we have takanakagami's gone down what a shame for the japanese rider he wasn't quite on the money in terms of his pace he's crashed at turn nine high 55s nowhere near good enough from taka nakagami yeah and the front end just tucking out right foot but he maybe clipped a bit of curb on the inside going in oh just about to say oliveira's down to the low 155's on that last lap there's only quater arrow faster than the portuguese man y'all has also had another look at his teammate we're riding on board now with fabio cuatro look at maverick vignales again he's desperately desperately trying to find a way through and you rather fancy that if he was able to get himself ahead of quarter arrow right now he'd be able to get on terms with banya and zarco there's three different battles going on here for first second for third fourth yeah that was coming that was coming all's fair in love and more as they say i don't think manya has done a 54. he hasn't needed to here comes vinales on quater he's done it on the straight it will be the move into turn one that he needed good stuff from vinales now then let's see what vignales has got here comes maverick vinales lovely inside brilliant this is a new and improved maverick vignales on the monster energy yamaha he moves up into second place and now he eyes paco banyara in first well like the yamaha guy said play to your strengths we know rims he's now going through as well beautiful play to your strengths that's what the yamaha's and zuki's have to do they haven't got the grunt down the straight line of the cathy's but they work brilliantly through these twistier sections here he comes again he's going to try and get faster maverick vineyards he's on fire almost elbow contact there with pekko banyara the race leader wow whatever maverick vinales has had for breakfast and lunch we want some of it vinales fantastic work this this is gonna go down as one of his if he wins this race it'll be his best ever motogp race bar none but there's still a long long way to go here ducati are dropping 20 k's on the start finish straight and that yamaha it turned so so well that's why vignette is able to try and get up the inside turn four rapid old crash by alex martin five crashes in the test another one here in the race unfortunately alex rinses now off into fourth and looks a real threat although he has wrestled that place back hasn't he again alex friends he's putting up a real big fight here he wants that first picture of the season too pekka banyara still leads on the factory to catty maverick vineyard is on the factory yamaha number 12 in second here he comes oh beautiful beautiful stuff from top gun maverick vignales takes the lead here and lynn jarvis loves it it's been coming you cannot say it hasn't been coming so now then maverick vignales can he try and make a crucial break he's going to try and what he's trying to do here now is just push the ducatis to stress those tires out a little bit more he thinks he's going to have the better tire at the end of the race now get his head down put together a couple of real hot laps and see what the caddies have got are they going to really push an attack wearing that they might encounter some rear tight grip problems later on world champion joanne may's made a place he's up ahead of fabio quattararo the number 36. he's now closing on this pack as well big big threat but look at maverick vignales he's gone he's going he's ripping himself away from these two ducatis arco's gonna move maybe move up into second place here he challenges pekko banyara the frenchman's gonna block pass into turn one he goes through into second yeah vignales was three tenths quicker than the two ducati immediately behind it four tenths quicker than alex wins in fourth place here comes mir up the inside of pekko banya neatly done the block pass executed to perfection and it has happened after that unbelievable start for the factory ducati team they don't have a bike on the podium probably best not to show another shot of davide tardozi right now because he's going to be grimacing not what the catty are anticipating at all they started first and second on friday they had pole position last night a new top speed record and it's all gone horribly wrong when it really matters they've still got zarko in second holy ducati but it's not the factory team they will not want to be beaten by their independent teams archos in an outstanding job look at that by mia cometh the hour cometh the man the last lap of the race here at the lasalle international circuit maverick vignales with over a second to play with from zarco and mia not what we expected at all two tails from the start to now that's for sure and here comes dranmeer on the last lap he goes through the world champion into second place unbelievable move what a job they'll celebrate this like a victory as they now head into the last corner well it's been the maverick mayor show hasn't it here in qatar absolutely brilliant by the two spaniards is mir gonna hang on to that second place it looks like he will do take my breath away top gun what a ride by maverick oh no mrs absolutely can you believe it oh no unbelievable the world champion looked set for second and he doesn't even manage to finish on the podium that is soul destroying look at suzuki they can't believe it we can't believe it it looked like me and it absolutely nailed on it got hammered by the ducatis did he just lose a bit of grip and speed coming out that final corners he was desperate to make sure that the cathy didn't lunge on him nothing he could do about it brilliant by maverick vignales one of the rides of his grand prix career look at this though late on late drama as always in qatar not for the victory like marcus and de vicious over the last couple of years or so look at this though mia the world champion four or five bucks he's gone well he's gone nobody's doing that steve that was all because he was trying to make sure this didn't happen and he knows now he knows they're coming they're coming here come the red missiles absolutely powerless juan mia that's going to be gut wrenching for the suzuki man he's done such a great job that was all because he looked at the shot there from the ducati camp he knew that the ducati at least one was going to slipstream and he was just desperate to try and nail that last corner got in a little bit too hot a little bit offline couldn't grab a handful of throttle with it being so dirty it could have been launched over the handlebars it was until the last corner the maverick mirror show what a ride though by this young man maverick vignales absolutely sensational i don't think it's an exaggeration to say that was probably the finest ride of his mother gp career i quite agree i'm going to hold my hands up and say i didn't see that coming you
