built at the Gary Sinise foundation the heartbeat of our mission is and always has been to serve and honor our defenders veterans first responders and those in need providing services and support we're serving some heroes today that raise spirits strengthen our defender communities and inspire others to reach out and embrace those who secure our freedoms every day welcome sir thank you for your service we're exceptionally proud of the impact we make on the lives of these heroes and their loved ones since the Gary Sinise foundation began in 2011 we've faithfully fulfilled our mission thanks to the support and generosity of our partners and the more than 75,000 American people who donate to our cause day in and day out our nation's freedom providers sacrificed so much to ensure that the security we enjoyed today will endure for many that sacrifice has had a lasting physical impact I look down on my legs every day and I say you know what this is a deposit on America's freedom done privately a deposit through our rise program we're restoring independence and supporting empowerment for our severely wounded heroes through specially adapted custom Smart Homes modifications to existing homes mobility devices and adapted vehicles all across America the Gary Sinise foundation and all the other partners who are part of this make it very clear that America does care for and about her warriors the hardships faced by our nation's defenders and their families can be heavy burdens to bear so our relief and resiliency efforts ensure families stay strong in their times of need through unique emotional and financial support programs [Music] along with events and performances by the Lieutenant Dan band which raised morale at military hospitals and bases all around the world our year-round snowball Express events serve the children of our fallen military heroes bringing together communities with common bonds building new relationships and happy healing memories a holiday season is particularly difficult for families who have lost a loved one which is why each year culminates with a five-day experience for more than 1750 children of the Fallen and their surviving parent or guardian at the happiest place on earth Walt Disney World we're working to bridge the gap between our defender and civilian communities our community and education programs honor our heroes both past and present while inspiring the next generation to do the same we're welcome soaring Valley brings World War two veterans to New Orleans to tour the national World War two museum a remarkable attraction built in their honor their experience includes entertainment and the chance to connect with their fellow heroes this is your jump jacket we also record their personal stories of service and survival on video and we're pairing veterans with high school students to learn firsthand that the sacrifices made by the greatest generation that needs to continue beyond the greatest generation our citizens are educated and appreciate the service and sacrifice of all World War two veterans the price paid to preserve our freedom has never been greater god bless you sir thank you thank you sometimes the simplest of gestures can offer the most profound sign of thanks hi our serving hero's program serves hearty classic American meals to our defenders nationwide and at military outposts in Germany Okinawa and Korea this is just a thank-you meal and our arts and entertainment outreach invites anyone who has served our nation to join us for a vets night dinner and dress rehearsal performance free of charge at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago and other participating theaters across the country although it's not the bosses all the folks here at the American Legion Hall theater artists showing their support of our veterans lifting them up in grateful appreciation it's a chance to get together it makes them new friends our first responders are vital to the safety of our communities when a crisis occurs our firefighters police and EMTs put their own lives at risk to help others oftentimes with limited resources at their disposal funding from private foundations such as the Gary Sinise foundation is huge for volunteer fire departments our first responders outreach provides critical funding for emergency relief training and essential equipment to ensure these public servants perform to the best of their abilities to have the Gary Sinise foundation filling that void to help us get the equipment we need to help our citizens it's amazing while our programs and projects have certainly made a difference in many lives there's much more still to be done and with the help of supporters like you we continue to expand our mission of service to our nation's defenders veterans first responders and their loved ones because it's that commitment by all of us as Americans which keeps our country strong join us
