[Applause] watch out for me [Applause] [Music] [Music] it is her final night in Sydney Nova Scotia when we began 16 teams had a dream of representing Canada at the Women's worlds in Denmark and tonight's we are now to the final two all week long in downtown Sydney Nova Scotia on George Street and the venue sent her 200 just one game to go and it is that gold medal final coming inside the building great crowd tonight as always glad you're watching our coverage here on TSN and these two women have met and a massive bottle before it was the Olympic curling trials a few years ago a game that Rachel Homan one Chelsea Gary is looking for a second Scotty's title she wanted 2016 and Rachel Homan can become the fastest skip ever to for Scotty's titles and she can do so before her 30th birthday that would be impressive the crowd is lively in a case you're not up-to-date we'll get you up to date right now this was the one two cage playoff game on last night it was Saskatchewan Robin silver Nagle the rookie out of North Battleford bertson's Chelsea Carey and she really broke this game open it was in the seventh Ben it was a chip before some great brushing there's the chip little tap and count them up there on the board and that really was the difference in the game 11:7 the final Silva Nagar then moving on into the semi-final she drops down taking on Team Ontario and Rachel Homan and Holmen she had her game face on here it was the outer draw a chance to pick up two in the eighth end [Music] by the Garda no problem there you see the hosts and play and the draw wait money to on the board and a win for Rachel Homan and look out for her when it comes to Scotty's finals the three she's been in before but lowest percentage she's at 85% she once curled 93 percent so she brings her a game that's for sure and for Chelsea Kerry every time she's been to the Scotties she's found the podium and won a medal but tonight it's a boat goal they pull towards he Canada before on their back they'd love to do it again let's go up to the booth down Alberta hunt cereal and joined the kroner welcome to our kitchen party here at Center 200 as the teams make their way onto the ice led by team Ontario head of the Ottawa curling club skipped of course by Rachel Homan as we say hello Canada and welcome back Cheryl Russ alongside we've talked a lot about Rachel Holman somewhat a little different in their style of play three championships but I really do believe this is the most well-rounded Rachel Homan we have ever seen I agree I think this is a team that's fully equipped to handle anything the opposition throws at them and I see little bits of influence from some key coaches they work with over the years Earl Morris built this foundation Richard Hart with his strategy you've got Adam Kingsbury with his performance under pressure and finally coming full circle Marcel Rock with his soft game their game is as well-rounded as I've ever seen cling to earlier today they scored four against Saskatchewan Saskatchewan came right back with three did it rattle them no they just kept their focus replying with a couple of their own and then of course went on to win it to put themselves in position to win a fourth title first time ever they have come out of the three-four game well you talk about Alberta again this is a new look Chelsea carries she's playing differently but what's to my mind rust is her calmness yeah no kidding we she's been a world-class shot maker for a long long time but it's that composure that impressed me in that 1 2 game Beck yeah it was incredibly impressive she miss shot after shot after shot in the first four ends she hung in there she had that belief that if she really was up against it she could make the big one like the freeze and five right on the pin to make that steel and turn the game around and the world-class top back for four to put the game away she has to do that one more time so here we are two teams down to one game both for their eyes on the prize the Arkells [Applause] [Music] the 2019 Scotties Tournament aparts is brought to you by pure ex bathroom tissue perdon Purex the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is brought to you by Tim Hortons official coffee of growing Canada by Home Hardware here's hi and by New Holland hashtag together blue [Music] and Ontario will battle for this year's studies Tournament of Hearts title here in Sydney Nova Scotia time to meet the team sound rough news I both Hardware here's how the Ontario champions they hail out of the Ottawa curling club skipped by Rachel Homan with Lisa Wiegel Joanne Courtney and Emma mr. Alberta the Glencoe Club Calgary the home of Chelsea Carey with Rochelle ground Dana Ferguson and Sarah will Alberta 9 and 2 for the round robin Ontario agent 3 and by virtue of that better record Alberta gets both the last Rock the choice of stones they've elected to yellow same stones that they played with in that one to win over Saskatchewan and Ontario for the third straight game they had the read in the 3-4 they had the read in the semi-final they'll have the red tonight and so Rachel Homan has the brush down on the edge of the 8th and to get us going the Ontario lead is Lisa weak so how big is that or how important is that Russ that these two teams are should be familiar with their rough stones oh that's huge absolutely huge the top teams in the world are the top teams in the world because of that they chart all the rocks they match them all up there most teams will try to take eight that are identical some will take maybe two cutters maybe even one cutter one normal one you you have your preferences you might want to keep a swing you want in the lineup just for a comer on that's hard to be made but most importantly it's confident you you know Chelsea or Rachel sitting there going I know what these two do and that that's half the battle so wonderful indication when you can pick up your game like Rachelle has done will it sit finally don't badger that well let's take a look at the heat of the game and we'll start with the keys for Ontario well you can't overstate how important the ability to forces and it's even tougher in the five rock world but team home and keeps doing it number one in the field enforcing their opponent to one when they have hammer and then Lisa Wiggles tick shot what can you say I mean after her two ticks against the Scotchman in the tenth and you know the opposition goes what do we do and it's just been a weapon it really was the dagger through Saskatchewan heart let's take a look at the keys now for Alberta well number one tolerance you have to miss the right way it's an overused term in curling but against this power hose from Ontario you're gonna make have a long evening here if you don't get them in the right spots that you can keep them tight they're going to run them in you go behind the tee line they're going to freeze the rock positioning has to be perfect here to win this game for Alberta skip needs to be the leader Chelsea the only one that's won this game she's only one that's a Canadian champion only one that has that feeling so she has to be a leader with the other three rookies in this particular game they've lost it a couple times the front end so they need to have that winning feeling from the skipper keys to the game brought to you by sponge towels nothing Zorba's like it impressive hit and stays here and we've seen two or three wide-open misses in this exact same spots amazing every playoff game they've gone open side the team with hammer right to the back and there's been a couple of mistakes not so far here and it was Joanne Courtney that missed missed in the first and that's how the game this afternoon in this spot wait they thought that kept her memory I remember this afternoon that's pretty good maybe a slight advantage that Ontario was out here a couple hours ago watch out now want to hang around and they do not so that Center guard up by Ontario no that will come into play now we talked about how important it is for a couple reasons you now you're giving team Ontario the opportunity to fill the draw wait get that feel underfoot make a draw early and they get there first now you're chasing and we've seen that so much this week where that seems to be when the switch is turned if you have to chase you have to throw that a little bit different Wade and we start to see some misses come about a tremendous amount of steals going on certainly northern turnips the best example but all the teams are it did a lot of this type of stuff to get one open front the patient wait for a roll out like we just saw then sink one and sync that she does keeps it in front of the T line Joanne Courtney firm Dana and the one versus two game 91% she just stood on her head in that game make it run backs and draws close thanks to hang around though that's dropped I can put a 2 in the scoreboard they're the same they're in a final Canadian fun although the same as they're they're in a round-robin gaming it's it's wonderful it's been really good for Chelsea Lee so hard we ran hard the corner Gardens oh and just well and they're showing the wrong side because now Chelsea's got a chance to roll behind the corner they gave up on the final come here they all reeling its in and then nobody wanted to sweep it and left it wide open [Music] right - now where are they gonna roll this gonna get a couple of turns but they'll sit in the open pullin the poor Sarah Wilkes was another one that impressed me in that one versus two game shooting 83% and he had to think nerves were coming into play its first time for her and that one versus two but she didn't show it I think that has to be the matchup at the third position here what you think yeah I would agree I'm a miscue roll behind their own pops it on the beat lighter than they wanted it still didn't curl we saw a lot of that to this afternoon where the inside-out just was really stubborn into getting any curl I was almost like I was fighting a hill going out to the wings this is the toughest rule [Applause] so as they play down this patch what do you have to be aware of here skip stones coming well with this role you mean well no just did attach advice I mean we've all started down here several times so yep what do you have to be aware just that it's really straight and every rock flick was down here it takes off that fresh pebble and makes it hair faster and a hair less friction so it's straighter still so I think what tends to happen a lot of these you just kept hitting them dead-on you can't believe it's not going to curl up and cross that there we go they're already aborting the inside roll going the other way see the numbers for Rachel Homan consistency the name of her game and there she gets across and then spills it into the open edge of the gate right like if I just this rock is making me not love it you ever play this I mean yeah I don't mind it I think this has to go straight like there with normal normal yeah lined this either you're looking to get forced this might be a chance to bring in a possible blank or at least you're not looking at - right just concerned that that spot won't bury going around that well that's just it I can you might not get it underneath since she had a good point - if you tick the garden stager at the top - Rachel loops one around you're in trouble now those are the prizes of course try not to pee going on and get ahead of yourself it's hard not to they're just right there I really Chelsea how to struggle in that page playoff game she played so great all week but she made two key shots that won them the game effectively and here's that roll back stop it behind their own yeah they'll get in behind but it's deep but it was the fact that she was able to gather herself in the past we may have seen perfect yeah Chelsea fold a little bit she just kept that calmness we talked about yeah it's it's probably is even keeled and temperament that I've seen Chelsea she doesn't get too high she doesn't get too low she's controlling her emotions she's done a lot of work on her mental and mental training focusing on the process and then I think our team's helping a lot the chemistry with the four of them Rochelle through time yeah that's what that's why it was my first thought I think it's dead straight and so it should be yeah really fast you talk about this shelf up here as it were is this effect this kind of draw yeah they would stay on the street a lot longer yes it would definitely what a brilliant shot out in the fresh pebble I think that's the advantage Russ don't you think you've got that fresh pebble it doesn't stand the shell once it starts to get keynote yeah yeah might run a little longer he's room for two yeah probably she seems to think so probably has a chance I think we try this okay yeah starting it across the nose and then angle it back the other way there's a spot here this will take off liners we know is it it's fine yeah I'm I got like a fork or make sure you get your one you think it'll feel true to that I think so yeah okay right now Ontario City the one not quite corner frozen there's enough room to chip it out Rochelle Brown dinner Ferguson will tell her I gotta get it by that one first still they will not and it will be the steel of one [Applause] not likely one about murder [Music] from the four sheets of blade ringing round-robin just one now the championship sheet of us here at the center 200 Sydney Nova Scotia our final evening Santa lion guard went up from Ontario and Lisa legal Rochelle Brown tried to tick it over missed and is now at the bumper and their outcomes legal [Music] [Applause] [Music] we talked about Rachelle's numbers being a little bit lower I mean she's 78% and I think we've seen Chelsea play that tick shot a lot which will bring our meets numbers down a bit because it's a tougher shot I love it she plays it Chelsea from the second and on opens it up gives herself some room and I think that speaks a lot to what the ice has been giving this week and how she's decided to best approach well even now even though you everybody says well it's a hard shot what if you miss it well they've just missed one now look what happens now they make one there's two corner guards the team's got to lay a perfect guard on their which is so hard to do if the guards a little left little right you could get in role being in one of those corners it's you need the right ice surface for it and the arena is very conducive and so are the rocks it doesn't work as well at the club level nope we've tried while both teams were rakaat by the ice Rachel Homan then the team lost to during round-robin including the game - Chelsea Perry last Tuesday night Carrie got three and six and then Carrie had her own difficulty with the ice first day of championship pool second year for this format of 16 teams in two polls of eight British Columbia getting in after a we had a play in Game four team wild card that was Casey scheidegger British Columbia winning in a tiebreaker over Manitoba grab the fourth spot she had the top four teams in each pool advancing and spill that Ontario stone in behind the corner so we had eight teams in the championship round as they played on Thursday and Friday and we expected to see some tie breaking games and so often happens we didn't get anything those were the four teams to advance to the page playoffs and we only have now a bird in Ontario left playing for this year's championship [Music] please heart chance for Ontario to sit to now cover to jammed behind a corner guard big girl here even more than we saw this afternoon [Applause] my balls are all the same you know she's trying to do something for the first time in her career having won all three from the one two so it would be a history-making win for her tonight and come from that three four right there Oh what just shows a little corner is it a good week oh thanks to just have the best of times and you know when you think about where they've come from was Rachelle Brown and Dean of Ferguson having played with valve Sweeting all those years having lost two Scotties finals together this is a great unit what a pickup from Chelsea Kerry okay yeah they're like ready-made just a dice let's face it Chelsea is pretty serious player and the front end isn't she's having trouble with her gripper though she slipped three times that's what they're digging about probably have to go here that's what I was thinking these are run double but I think we have to even if you're here it's okay right in here like your winger or not quite let the yellow into him it too long split trying to get the boat closer than that red one that's buried behind the corner guard heard Chelsea say it might give them a raise double but you can't do everything well oh when I play the tick off the yellow if they can yeah me as well and raising it in only one team went undefeated in that pool play and that was Chelsea carry seven straight wins Brian and Vic every time she's made the Scottie she's found the podium so I got some insight on Chelsea carry in her week so far and it came from her lead Rochelle Brown I asked her what is skipper been doing so great and she said it's not just this week this goes back to Staedtler Alberta and the provincials in the play downs there she said at that time Chelsea Kerry was lights out there was tricky spots in the ice they put the broom down Chelsea made the shot of her shells like all right our skippers on it that has continued she said she's played fantastic since January and has brought that play here at the Scotties and then of course you go to dad coach Dan Kerry I talked to him quickly before the game and I asked him what has been the single biggest difference for Chelsea at this Scotties and he said she's done a better job at being more relaxed oh yeah no doubt and I miss you able to come through the hole yeah dan was a in talking with his daughter he said look at if you want to continue to play this game you have to clear your mind you have to become more relaxed you know you played him in the in the Brier final of course all those years ago Russ but he says there's the game is filled with great players who can shoot a great ice readers technically sound but there's not a lot who are sound of mind when it comes to the game absolutely well said that's what he wanted her to become and he thinks she has oh no question certainly this weekend I've watched no question you sit in the uber to play down she was amazing she was she just stood on her head and you know you have to give him credit because they haven't had a great season at all and that came from the fact that Rochelle Brown he was out pregnant they brought in a couple spares they really didn't have their full team tell early December Sarah Wilkes was actually I like throwing third but Dana Ferguson was holding the broom for the first half so they've had a lot of changes to work through yeah I thought the draw would curl but it just got straight through the middle oh yeah watch Sarah for four or five games now in every shot she's missed now she's made a ton of luck they'll get me wrong but every shot she's missing come around by about a foot and a half wide and she just wrecked there albeit a very tough shot might have to take knees up a little bit and just a bit of a pop releases and coming back in this particular service flips all their clothes three okay bangs pretty good so keep your form on no it looks very tight yeah I think it looks pretty good for most weight loss we're good perfect you know as much as there's been changes in the demeanor of Chelsea Kerry there's been a change in the game and the style of play for Rachel Homan and much of it attributable to their coach Marcel rock course four-time Canadian three-time world champion with Randy Furby brought the draw game and we saw evidence of that earlier today in the game against the sketch when there was a chance when she would have been able to play a short angle raise what did she do she drew I mean that was unheard of as much as a year ago so it's a different a different looking team and Marcel wanted to a shout out to his a high school Jasper place he is the culinary instructor Cheryl that's somebody who likes to be in the kitchen oh good for myself should go straight based on saris yeah it will firms good seeing this spot a few times now it should be pretty close running in the wrong color he hate doing that not a lick from the brush and the way it goes in a case like that would you say Cheryl you don't have to throw that kind of weight we often talk about rushers weight you can give it to the brushes you can control it because the ice is it to my mind right now first five what's that old adage you go hard first five because the ice is best could you have made that with less weight I think because as rested you're running in the opposition stone you do want to throw that extra bit of weight so you don't jam it and leave them in the ring somewhere and I think really I heard Chelsea says she slid a little tight and then fed it back a bit in this ice just it penalize you for any kind of that outward set the exact same spot Chelsea's gonna probably play the tap against 2-shot very nice [Applause] great brushing to just get that to come up enough sucking and I always felt was one of the hardest answered the hardest end to draw because there's paths that are faster than others through where this is a little inside where they worn out some spots so a it could be a little slower but how do you get the right line it gets his dead-on she gives up a steal even with perfect weight it's been a struggle for the Alberta team through the first 15 stones here as they have nobody is 70 percent the best is 69 Ferguson Dana Wilkes is at 38 Chelsea just 50% tough spot to be in here you've given up a see loved one and now you're throwing up against an Ontario team that is sitting the - this is what she's been making all year though here we go let's find out curling up it is angle it back and she'll cut them down and it'll be a steal of one more it's all about the pressure Candlewood [Music] steal one in the first steal one in the second my burial leads it to nothing as Alberta Hayden able to do nothing so far with the last Rock and here in three they'll have it again they have the hammer playing the yellow stone do you like why don't we use their card okay we were thinking it starred I think she just doesn't know we're there okay you got it is is this indicative of something here Cheryl the fact that look at skipper wants to play the freeze you thinking guard Friday I'm disagreeing is this a little trouble in paradise here I you know I would just be a little bit careful all in the skits had a couple misses and they might want to keep it a little simpler for a couple ends and and that would be playing the fries maybe having it open up and then you've got a room eight-foot draw in the end rather than you're getting shut down and this kind of takes away Chelsea's one of Chelsea's draw pass and the other one could be gone shortly here you sometimes have to look at the skip and they get to call the game reverse engineer you would say so that they have a shot for themselves I mean when a Skip seeing everything you don't mind throwing down options but when they've had a couple misses I just play it out for a couple ends my guess is Chelsea's doesn't think to have that luxury against the team like this they've got but hammer for more times in theory they need to start scoring some points they have to curl Ontario by three here I don't I don't disagree with it but I think you're right with the philosophy of the front end that's what they're worrying about now here with us as we take a look back to the round robin scores of course there's that bad day Tuesday where Ontario got caught by the ice cluded in there was Alberta they were one of the few teams Cheryl to be able to put multiple points on the board they scored a three against the best defensive team in the field Ontario and then of course coming through that three four and then winning as well so they gave up three enters for them but nobody scored a four nobody got a five so again further to your point defensively Ontario is very good well and it's funny you talk about their two losses I don't know that the team's beat them so much as they beat themselves they they got a little focused and if I ever had any criticism and I worked with these guys a little bit last year with a home and team it was that they could get focused on the rocks and almost let that beat them before the rocks or the opposition did but none of that this year and I think that's Marcel we mentioned Alberta coming through that round-robin the pool play undefeated only team to do that seven straight then they get in for the championship round what are they do loss loss van Kerry said we beat ourselves in some respects to bedrock management got caught up and things external but they gathered it up enough to finish first place nine and two [Music] they too though are one of the better defensive teams cherylin as much as they only gave up three three Enders off of one four and there they tell C's Kerry team they score a few more points with hammer they score about eight and half a game on average and Rachel Homans team scores about seven and a half points a game but it's really Rachel's ability to not allow the opposition to score they limit the opposition to under five points a game and that's pretty incredible number field they've been good at that defense since they were very much to sit to again [Applause] it's frustrating - I'm sure you've got the last rock you had it you've earned it as Alberta has and they've been able to do nothing with it they constantly are chasing here looking at a couple of stones biggest game of your life you're sitting there without a day off and you're sitting well we got the hammer we can get two in the first and you know for some the one we're in good you know all of a sudden Liam scored yet that it is hard it's disheartening this is back where Chelsea missed one here I think you've got enough lace this time that'll run a lot straighter give you a little tighter it'll go hard hard yep right to it hey let's get a good throw beautiful weight control they're just enough to pump it out and when do you want your players to play their best when it's all on the line and look at this is their performance miscue Homan through their finals this is so much what you want to see is a trend with your skip and then again with your third just to be able to rise to that occasion under pressure and that's what I talked about this team working with Adam Kingsbury at one point and they learn to understand how they played under pressure what their tendencies are and it's showing early but Emma's only at 65% makes the hit and stick there Rachel is 94 ok - ok I think I need to give you a couple feet less than I did last time without drop yeah like just top over they'll go around they go like that's what I wanted to thing yeah like halfway guard and it just any your head don't even you have a peanut sauce I have doctor get this one Cheryl you know straight it is I talked about how quick it is and we remind everybody inside out every nice is always fast but the biggest crowd of the week a little warmer air temperature and a little more adrenaline all those things add up to rocks behind the d-line okay really good throw I mean oh yeah whoa whoa Todd Lee's practically against the grain oh they got it to push it back where the shooter goin hangs around and so they are look at this the pressure just continues Ontario sitting three I was a tough curling shot and they jumped it out of Rachael's hands a little bit which scary on that spot but she must you see Lisa trying to get it to carve of it at the end she does it just enough pushes the Curtis Stone just back edge of the 12 but she give Rachel credit for the wait she didn't overthrow that at all that's what made that shot [Music] a shot for late we might go miss to go out of that space it's need to be okay out here yeah are they playing to the back one of them would they like to leave it a little higher I think to leave it much higher cousin Rachel come to and that'll be it so maybe top eight you get to the button area the Rachel's got that angle raised if this is perfectly buried or she can chase it because the guards fairly long I'm guessing just shot rock buried toffee two of them in this game person second stolen ends just little did you hear it end up buried it still have some curve I like that release but it took a little read off it too and they probably could have got that even top for not much traffic on that side was her Cheryl so I might hit a wee bit of fresh pebble just there the unfortunate part for Chelsea she didn't get shot rock so no home it could be aggressive here topping it straight back I'm guessing hmm boy oh boy you make this one tell you I see yeah doesn't look like enough to me at all so now I know they're trying to cross face a little bit yeah but not much does it to Theriot stole all the first two ends this get across the nose a little bit to there and now how far back that far back they are shot rock for sure and it looks like they are sitting the two at the back of the hoof just barely happy just said Chelsea that goes another couple inches Chelsea could play to come around top four to win that back other red one last one we can top it to yeah I can give you similar way to I like that I just make sure I'm a little more aggressive with this set I thought I wanted to throw it like that but it's just curling so yeah we can't go to the back one just let us know okay the worry here's our a wider where there is a bit of a little bit of a straighter spot it'll take its time curling here final stone once again facing team I'll be it back head really a Ontario sitting a couple after stealing the first two were topping it yeah they're good and good they are finally big sigh relief Alberta zom the board final stone here in the water looking for the blank you'll see Gary floating on her got it No unforced error final stone looking for a couple nurse this down hand goes up from this two and there's two Coleman picks up a pair and she scores the first multiple point in these two Megan bull go away needs a store to final stone here intend to tie make them go [Applause] the world champions Oh [Applause] [Music] and of course that was December of 17 in Ottawa Canadian Tire place that big shot it was there to be had the double Rachel Homan becomes our Olympian here they are battling again in this Scotties final 2019 in Sydney Ontario with the lead and for the first time in the game Ontario does have the last rock they have the hammer playing the red stones here in for anything to be a bit of a ride over he home and carry you know that Olympic trial tape we just looked at there they went through undefeated Chelsea carry and here she is with a totally revamped team and right there again against guess who I think that game for Homans team is one of the things they've looked back on after their their struggle at the Olympics of what they achieved by winning those trophies and that that was a tough sometimes you forget that part of it that you had to win probably one of the toughest competitions in the world to get to in Olympics absolutely I somebody come up to me and say Jay it's too bad about home of the Olympics today they had such a bad year I said they became Olympians they won the Canadian trials which bragging as a Canadians the toughest thing you could possibly win just peeled off the guard that could get them into more trouble than that long right go go keep going to bury it lined up in as much separation as possible you know talk to maybe half of strolling around [Applause] until the wind in round robin by Chelsea last Tuesday evening they and Beaton's Rachel in Scotty's play their record down Harmon three and one against Terry or was that close to the guard no real reason for it either fine my cardigan curled a bit more yeah I didn't cool actually as much as she thought I was a good work girl nobody didn't feel where they are yeah I think she Dina threw more weight than you did yeah that's what I thought too I'm close three I think that's hot yeah I don't really want you right now you don't need to you sir will CH Lina's rocky a lot but I think we're okay you look okay to me guard yeah the guard you are [Music] rubbie you roll in here now five to six - okay I think we need lesson board good hack okay there's a fair bit of room you get past that top and one guard that we can't see right now on the screen and then you've got some room for it to finish no Emma miscue close to being rolled right underneath a yellow guard here and there is the roll and it'll spill over catch the 12 and sit right there and shot and again it's the weight choice Carroll they could have thrown up a little bit heavier weight as they said put it at the board the bumper weight but they said a little just enough to do the job yeah it's it's incredible their control and how they manage their weight just makes a difference in all those shots your tendency is to overthrow it when you're trying to hit something and you don't get the most out of the shot and those brushers I mean anybody would have confidence to throw the right way with those two on the brash way this could be gone for bumper house they may get this one in look at this and in and behind that Hey stolen belonging to Ontario dopin up the shot rock on the other side here's a wonderful call here you've got two choices here you play the run back you missed the run back Chelsea hits the open one denied a very little chance this I feel like this should top it into the ring somewhere it's two on one and it's open just longer than the broom okay I don't mind it like regional call I do too I like Sean you open it up is we've talked about it today they tend to call the shots that they get more than one thing out of yet you open it up and you get a rock in the rings good clean yup whoa like a second a great pump and then and dead buried right behind - with last Rock she didn't ever throw that again though yes it was controllable wait you so much weight at that and it's hitting high side all day long what a great throw [Applause] yeah [Music] I know yellow or the railroads discussing it too surely notice that a good shot you coulda just said no still wants to hear something from the front end just touch the board's they're trying to understand everything the front end wants to know what that rock did as it came down Emma wants to discuss the weight make sure she was through the right weight there's no lack of information Oh really lucky to hang around here make contact first and they do and spin and spin and spin and won't go sorry Ted Barrett - it's at the back look at that they're all lined up its kind of what we've talked about kind of out that edge of the middle of the 12 edge of 12 where it'll just ride out there and that's what caught her in the first I remember she pried that really tough soft weight to get around the garden tap it out for a deuce but she got inside where that shelf is Coleman was a wider she came to taking the broom up to make it and got me a little curly stuff wrecked on the garden and vice versa here a wider where it is straighter in themselves up will carry Wilks just now 59% area slipped out of 46 it's just gonna be one of those times that Chelsea's gonna have to come up with a big shot to get you get around that long guard and come to that back one now with the intern yeah that's pretty close like she says so Courtney we're gonna jump all over it has a notion then jumps back don't you have to make something go right here though over here carry two choices you could try to play a comer on fries on that back one which is over buried by three feet or play the double you don't think it's going under not with the intern okay same ice just kind of a little more like if you play the freeze and you're not there your potential is give up for them yeah well yes I think I think if you I think if you got over into here Vic somewhere in this type of area even though it's not frozen to your point it's it's so buried they can't throw any weight at it so what they're gonna try to do is come down here hit that one get kill that roll over here somewhere so it's either the double or maybe just roll up into that type of area would be outstanding there's no port through if you can get pull over as far as the yellow one or farther you could be a winner write me a note turn you might not want to roll too far ice that yellow might be now turn shop for home it to chase going got one oh and then just hangs up there pressures never involved is this team is white so far in four hands it's unbelievable percentage Chelsea wrecked in the first day and narrow and that's been in everything else has been high cycle great tried only had to curl a millimeter more and that runs right underneath how much weight yeah they seem to be moving a little bit yeah we'll stay close here I don't think you left your broom okay how are you throwing this keep it there yeah see straight track here here stick three we're good guess you are three more [Music] [Music] here at Center 200 our final evening in Sydney Nova Scotia Scottie's to notify Ontario Alberta in this final that three sends the lead out of five one through four just been that kind of games will part relvar chasing chasing chasing at night unable to get anything set up it is Alberta that does have last Rodman playing the Yellowstone's here in five it's a DRS Cheryl I think the fifth end break can't come soon enough so now they can't talk with each other and it's not like Chelsea doesn't have a word with her father Dan but I think Dan might have something just to you need a little break here yeah that break couldn't can't come soon enough no I agree and sometimes it's it's the outside person that can see something specific that the team maybe needs to adjust maybe bring the weight down a little bit tighten the ice up then we've seen them hit high side a lot done I mean you saw Chelsea where she ticked on that one and that's really what set up for the three you know it's funny when you're playing the game I don't know why but you can't see it but somebody who's sitting on the bench or coach oh but 90% of shot your high side yes it's so true there's always a pattern and the funny part here is I I was very impressed with Chelsea's ice reading against Christopher Carvel in Northern Ontario she picked up on it quick remember was currently a little more jacked up on it and Carville's team was a little late at doing that it's the reverse here thing Coleman's got a good hand on it Chelsea doesn't they can't quite get that berm in the right spot Courtney wraps it around now there's a slight stagger as Ontario is sitting the - yeah you could use the excuse it's the same sheet same rocks for home and a couple hours ago and then you and I know that it's not gonna be identical the sheet but the tendencies are still there I wonder if it's you know that first miss so really for Chelsea it was the over curl on the in turn with the first miss and you think over curl in your mind that has a skip now you open the room a bit and everybody is comes up by sight right yeah you start protect you say to your team because you're you're a smart skip you say gee how the rocks are biting a little more there's a little more curl today be careful and then from that point on they miss right Dana Ferguson runs it back gets rid of one but still leaves them Ontario's hitting the - because it's straighter inside out these peels become even easier that's good Rachel say it'll go wherever you let it go which means there's zero curl around everything to the back 12 foot prominent in my mind is if you your Albert at this point I'm you're already down five you'd like to when you're struggling simplify the game but you can't be too simple because of what the scores say well and I think that goes back to the end where Chelsea was indicating she wanted the fries on the wings and I think that was her attempt to have an offensive shot but a little bit more open to try and settle in and get some shots made and then you start to feel a bit better but now they're in tough I mean you have to take some risks to get back in the game a home and team they're great frontrunners you just are going to have to expect you're gonna make them and the shots will come zero ace here we don't have to bury this do you because you start stopping your run back ability if you get this buried Ontario would three on the board in for Emma miscue for us tonight odds he liked the first call to I I didn't mind this one at all because Emma really liked it and it's the shot that's made if she was confident in it through the right wait stuck around perfect led to a three for Ontario a lucky shot brought to you bought World Financial Group helping Canadians have better financial futures 59% so far for Sara Wilkes took off hold it for the maybe and then up to off the back note where will it spill to the back edge I think Chelsea Kerry I think I mentioned it yesterday's one of the best if not the best ice reader I've seen today they can't quite get that feel for the curvature in the ice kind of like just killing it up yeah yeah we can roll out dad normal it's still like this yeah every now and then you have to turn around and look at the scoreboard does the old rule of thumb rush hold true in the fifth as it would in say eight nine yeah you look at the scoreboard but if you leave your rocks in play if your Ontario that you're just helping algorithm no question you know if you've got one or two that are you know top button very kind of thing I pretty safe with them like that one on the buttons they're the top four is probably not hurting them but yes no question about it you know always pretend you the other skipper Chelsea Kerry wants some type of shrapnel whatever color it is out here at this point time to create an error now they won't write around everything in it there's to the point these red ones might make home and shot harder if you can ever slightly over buried and they can't run that red back you could get to center line first Ferguson on that outer edge now tried to hold the curl no good throw a little bit of weight more than anything yeah it gets by I think with back ease well like control research same way to you through yeah came back a bit race sorry my normal came back at the end we let it to yeah what's ideal here okay yeah they don't want to roll away because a double would be pretty automatic to get in and then you're behind you're free to hooking this one rolling a foot to Cheryl hooking it on that other Redman Chelsea loops around yeah I think nose is good rolling away not rolling too far under not good either so that's the point is only red ones you need yeah well you pick that apart yeah 94% so far the Chelsea Carey struggling it's the Battle of the Trillium and the wild rose there you go just piling them up yeah but now they're hooked and now this is a chance for Alberta you hook one around here pretty crazy turn two I think that picked that's your point Vic how many red ones do you need now they can go into this type of area and how do you raise any of those they're the each one's hurting each other one and there's nothing there that would force Rachel the Covenant around follow this wrong going this way with the out turn because you'd know it or could you play the in turn as well oh you could probably play the in turn but they've seen this and I think they've got a good read on it after Sarah's tougher to get by the rock in the forefoot than the rock and the 12-foot - they're gonna have to go much more room for curl here the draw weight is 44% keep looking up heads up thank you big draw big brush trying to make something happen in a game where they haven't seen much take it back Rochelle Brown stay with it stay with it pan there it is shot rock top horror of her is that the perfect weight it didn't curl as hard as I thought it would at the end there for five inches it's right underneath build up some confidence shellshock the kind of start for Alberta [Applause] tough work kind of no choice you have to try to get one in there yourself itch you might be able to raise that one if you get an over curl yeah this is to your point Vic coming this way a little bit tougher it's really so much curl you can get there with both of these turns you stopped short of the forefoot it's a tough how do you get in for two if you're Alberta yeah probably you just have to follow yourself down and hope that's enough I'm not sure it is extra deep is not an option Wiegel just waiting to help it over if they can look at it go look at the tans can they save this stone it just started to go they waited and once it goes there was no saving yeah great shot but but it's probably in a better spot than if it was behind the t line Vic because of the Chelsea could follow that down she gets her - how do you get two points here cuz they're even better than the center line red that was second shot we didn't get by it by that much to get there I think this is our only hope not sure it's there but I think it's our only option take a pile of ice so we got to make sure we get by the five obviously you can't ever touch that this is this is not good well you can never touch their relatives for to have a chance but how close to have to be do it - yeah very that's the problem I'm not sure this is there but I don't see anything else unless you guys do well you'd have to give it a real rap wouldn't you do pick up that half a stone that you need well yeah and then work spurt victus you want it there but you cannot touch that one so but as it's dying do you really think that it's going to wrap it hit it as hard as to bump it up for shot when he has to bump it half a stone yeah so if she was back for and got a good chunk of that yes that's a steal of one of the way the score is said Chelsea has no choice and the problem the other problem with this one is she's way out in the shell for it it might not curl right now Alberta is hitting the one can they somehow find their way around that last rock of holmen's sitting top head to the for Ferguson just probably a makeable that Chuck and it will not Bend and that's your single so Alberta gets one here in five I'll go to the break down time to talk with the harsh the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts he's brought to you by pure ex bathroom tissue find comfort and pure ex [Music] the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is brought to you by new ha'la'tha hashtag together blue by pioneer hi-bred serving Canadian farmers for over 70 years and by world financial group helping Canadians have better financial futures [Music] the championship banner that will hang at the home club of either Ontario Alberta course all the medals or deeper trophies that will go to the the winner and runner-up Alberta with last Rock can they gave up steals of won in the first and second as we go inside the number well we talked about fabulous finishers and that was Emma and Rachel but you really have to look to Lisa eagle and Joanne Courtney a hundred percent for Lisa Eagle Joanne Courtney 93% those two are pretty much single-handedly pushing the numbers down for this team Alberta and Rachel Homan 90 percent numbers chapter five were brought to you by pioneer hybrid serving Canadian partners for over 70 years now one coach has to be very happy you I think Marcel Rock Dan carry will have some words of shore encouragement for Chelsea and over [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and so what started your zone 12 days ago on the Friday night will come to an end tonight we do want to thank all the the teams the players the coaches for all their cooperation we asked them to have some fun with us the day before it all begins and they're all so very cooperative so we thank you many of the teams of course have left after the initial round-robin now we have these two remaining Alberta and Ontario playing in this championship game now the Scotties here in Sydney Nova Scotia 5-2 to Ontario leads it getting a verdict one in that round-robin game they crack the three they got a deuce but boy they're finding out now just how difficult it is to play this Ontario a team that does not give up many points and they can't help when you give away points and they did in those first two so there's two gifts and that's why it's 5-2 and Alberta once again has the last walk here in six playing the red stones you look at the score and and Ontario's have a hammer once and 5-2 now they've got the hammer the second time it's it's tough to defend against and it was those steals definitely still in the first deal still in a second but that's just by having Ontario apply pressure get there first and most certainly in the early ends when you're trying to figure out the ice oh and just enough thought they play the second tick the is they're pretty comfortable that's a long enough card then get around get anything but Chelsea's going to throw up a tight guard using that one for coverage they have to help her to do something soon here maybe really be aggressive trying to get this deal here coming down still top top hope it dies here okay good so GD not good feels fine I always used to say Cheryl the perfect game was force your opponent to one take two and you have the chance would you have hammered if that had happened it would have been one for Alberta to Frontera one for Alberta to Frontera one for Alberta Ontario would be one up at this point in time so better than perfect sorry Rach just think of the transition from when Joanne stepped onto this team and you know everybody talks about their success and how well they've done the Hohmann team but they work very very hard at the game and you know Joanne Courtney I remember when she joined them and she had a year of I'd look at her and she it was like she thought did I do the right thing because she had to groom her release to match the other three and she didn't have a lot of success that first year it was really tough because you're changing completely almost everything that you've known but every year they get stronger and stronger and they work so hard together as a unit there's no there's no complacency with them and it's always trying to find that next gear and that extra edge to her point to this particular shot they take four or five inches more ice when she joined the team and she's learning to back it up and learn to throw it from maybe an inside position and what you watch that will come that'll come right off the line back up a little bit when they need to have to look at Chelsea's carrot carries team on the other side of that and this is her first year together and they're in a Scotty's final that's you know that there's it's like night and day almost that the time they haven't had the opportunity to play together for very long and they've only really had the four of them together since December so lot to build on and when you have a skip like Chelsea who seems to rise up for those big games I mean she's not having one of them tonight but you definitely have been chasing that's a good thing to build on congratulations to the Saskatchewan team Robins silver and Engle and the team from North Battleford being acknowledged by the crowd they had a really wonderful week first time skip here lots of help from Stephanie Locke making a fifth appearance with well as Jessie honking and Terry Cavanagh out of North Battleford another three rookie team incredible to get that far Lisa made that first tick she actually rolled in and ended it's now shot rock which helps Ontario even more nearly Fiat - come on Joanne Joanne Courtney played in that final of 14 for Ralph Sweeting along with Dana Ferguson or she'll probably horse she was the third and then after that right after that team and then when those seasons ended they reached out then she moved and to join the Ontario team so their former teammates now opponents on the ice here Courtney with Brown in Ferguson just a shade deeper than they wanted they can take a shot at this double yellow ya know he's rolling off and runs it vine did you already say you were thinking it's red shot rock are you Han Theriot had better about at about 10 o'clock yep for sure going right out on a limb no I don't think she's gonna peel if I hurt ya I really probably back button back foot is this the same speed as I threw in loss and both told us another center guard Rachel might go around it if they make it really good Chelsea's in a bit of trouble but she if she doesn't make a really good you have a chance to steal but that this is the safer play go around now hope to run backs not made guard it turns a curl or that should be able to sink this easily starting to go down now that the weight comes off inside that straight spot for sure back she goes and back she goes finally settling back you don't make this run back double I think they'd love to hang around here somewhere I think they're trying to make it across the face a little bit center line side I think so are you throwing us you just came up a little at the end only we're getting the force out of it right unless she doesn't roll in yeah Albert hissing the one buried Ontario with last Rock Zoo playing six Levi through Rachel Homan outstanding game so far well better than outstanding chelsey couldn't have put the further apart and in a better spot and just not safe and rolled in you forced to avert his hand here now Cheryl I don't think you can potentially go for that w mr. Dalby give up a goose goose is too many well that's about the call that was the line call and I'm a miscue nice call I was probably one of the best line callers I've watched she's she and I think it's not so simple as just calling the line she's very good when it's not working out to call the audible which is Plan B that's what happened there they were looked like it halfway down they're going the other way on that double across the face and made it same shot here but it's a little preferred a little wire where it's gonna take a little longer to curl it has been done down by three rolling in behind it's that spot again you just you move the broom or three or four inches it so and that wasn't even close to getting by that first guard not grabbing that spot sure oh look at look at the your / 18 inches easily me too and I liked it under my hand I thought I wanted to like I was a little positive yes how I wanted to throw it cuz we'd like let us come back by three points amber Holland against Jennifer Jones Street 2011 and Holland won the skies so it has been done can it be repeated tonight one more time a little different now nothing from the front end at all nothing Courtney nothing legal this is all on its own she's driving a PI and Alberta we'll pick up the steel they give one back [Applause] mm over again five three [Music] steal back of a single point by Alberto and they're down by two we welcome you back on this championship night of the Scotties from center 205 three Ontario leads attend they do have the last Rock they have the hammer again laying the red stones here in the seventh [Music] Wiegel time Rachel through that pretty hard she slid oh tight and just backed it up a little wee bit and she kind of had no choice and when you do that with that type of rotation it just does not girl like you think it's going to is you didn't miss it by much okay sweets good minds getting better really good had a girl Dana I see a nice sweep guys good well the next stop of the season of Champions will be the Tim Hortons Breyer we begin next Friday night in Brandon with the play in game shut up in Brendon Burchard but a feel it is picanha McEwen pinecones so many familiar names again 16 teams and two pools of eight the bride from Brandon beginning next Friday it still changes things a little bit in my mind you can enough you're not going so hard for a steal here you can force we still have a chance still might come about just because of an execution or missed like we saw the last day good good job great placement on these centerline guards lots of distance lined up perfectly tough to get rid of them both that's the to12 scenario isn't it you force Ontario to wanted to go to six three get you to an eight six five horse a turret or one seven five coming home and grab you - at least and you're into an extra in whereas it was that shot was made it would have been really desperation out still no matter what and then the game could be over we've seen that scenario hey let's use a little hat hey yeah - [Music] we're probably close to where your broom is right now just above do want me to tell ya you gotta go really come all of you go both of you go hard to get over here no angle go go go go go go go go okay good it just kind of came down yeah it's seven eight this is where it can get the time in the game it's warm in here lots of people the buildings falling this is the time in the game where it can start to get a little bit budgie down the slide path and the team that's to animate the perfect delicate shots can struggle we just stuffed it there's no leaves it just off center line no window a little crack here for sure those are tough they asked him but he hit 7/8 of it which isn't very far off of 8/8 that's that's what happened [Laughter] just top eight go both of you home again Alberta shots a little momentum swing here Alberta's way Sara Wilkes is slowly bringing up her numbers as is Chelsea carry em a miscue boy or even let it go you heard Rachel home and say no yeah you know not to get it high side or skirt it up here I don't think Rachel will go around you with the score the way dish you'll probably try the double play oh yeah there's a pinch more ice than I was giving you guys okay full keen in this class yeah speeds the same yeah were they gonna go with this rush I think just a straight guards are no they've got their own center up in front and then they got shot rocks hitting top edge of it for another option be maybe top 12 partly around but they're all three yellows be so close together with such a great hitter in the almond I think just a two guard was the play to keep rushing and it doesn't get to that a little shot Rock almost all yeah see see almost all of it that hurts you made that one Rachel feels that you put it you know top eight hop buried Rachel might have to draw against any [Applause] blanks the possibility if Rachel can execute this and hang around it would be a dream end for more probably sure I'll better not to roll hard towards that corner guard cuz then Albert is just gonna go right around everything well you can leave if you can leave your Ontario stone somewhere close you can use it if Ontario does decide to risk and go right around you can run it so try to almost know is this right it's good peanut well no we haven't go starts to go crossing those as well not quite enough to push it back in truth they do it's just thrilling wait yeah that's what's so impressive this year [Applause] exactly she asked for getting through hot it's funny what happens when you throw the right speed and now it's sitting there it's usable for home and took away the draw path that Chelsea has played a few times except Chelsea try this a couple ends ago would have been the question I was gonna ask she answered it for me could you play a tap on that push it back get across the nose and underneath she says no I can't do that that's why it was so critical for Rachel to get to nose okay almost up so I can drink beer goodness or on the red one which is from the probably physically possible right dead behind the red would be the best I think he could do Cheryl you leave a top button at that angles there girl here if they wait too long it started to go on them now they jump to try to save it for the skipper Brown Ferguson one more to get by Oh now the over brush will it sit will it sit for them and hang on to the pack I don't see I don't think that shop for two is that easy it's not but I think it's the exact same throw isn't it you can get a little bit of an angle here so you don't have to get dead on which would be impossible but probably a hack wait you only really really have to move it a good foot get right to the nose that's pretty much the path that when she tapped the Alberta stone is it came through the center line absolutely nice I think to your point you can see a little less of this red one that she could see of the Alberta one but they don't have to get it dead-on no you could see lately highside not easy I don't think Chelsea could have made that any better no I agree just slightly underneath scratching miss over trying to keep themselves alive here shut Roxanna line back for legal help it get it over help it over please a little bit more help it over get it over angle it back and you're gonna touch anything No so those two gifts again our return to sender fine for the championship trophy has arrived in the building here at Center 200 escorted by constables Darren Sylvester and Justin Smith of the RCMP detachment and now if it's not enough that the keeper trophies are within eyesight so now is the championship trophy five four those two stolen ends give it up give it right back Ontario once again will have long class rock they do have the hammer playing the red stones urate who's more worried now do you think I'll burn it down by water Ontario that's seen their lead slip away well I think Ontario still what they look at it they've got the hammer they're up one and in any game they would be comfortable with that they think they had control but the problem is the lead that slipped away but it's really been Chelsea made a fabulous shot kind of a tick behind one end that they stole and then last end same thing you can't take away any credit for that incredible draw come around and she's pushing Rachel to some pretty tough shots Rachel's first one I'm trying to go edge on edge and it over curled it kept brushing it to make it curl and thrilled enough that it made her second one very difficult if it stayed wide open she would have run that back way easily and the degree of difficulty obviously of God has gone up for home and her numbers now have slid from that high 90s mid to high 90s she's now down at 79 percent as well as Emma misc you said these kind of shots just deflate the opposition Emma he's a wiggle did it in the tenth against the Statue and earlier today well the skip just breathes a sigh of relief you know you've got two rocks you're not dealing with in the center more than you okay it's really diet okay just hi to more irritation than you know mine's good should come down to your broom yeah just let it settle good day okay nice wait Dina Joanne Courtney at 93 Dana Ferguson at 79% little bit of a pitch Courtney and far enough Oh it'll sit there cover the edge of the eight something to work with if they can pull the game to the wings off the centerline just the key she's gonna get one here similar lines I don't need to keep it a little higher it's not like they're going to ignore it and that would give you an angle onto one of those side was when you direct back into the middle if this was a thin half in the or inside it could carom off that side yellow that's why they're going more than half the cap just a couple feet higher with one of those guards [Applause] [Music] yeah close Finn and now watch this one spills around this one I don't mind it I don't mind it either I don't mind more I don't no longer guard tell one more okay yeah I think you don't probably want to be deeper then I don't want to leave her a double peel I want that to stay there no two and a half two and a half three yup you don't want me to take your point another the score is this close they don't have to be too too aggressive so the guard of Rachel peels at you around the corner for circle one your twenty two down with the hammer no it's pretty good position that's beneath you have to switch gears to as a as a skip because you've been you know clawing your way back now you have to realize you're only within one one after for everything right now since then okay good good good sweep guys nice nice there very nice guards put up to bye Tina Ferguson now Sara Wilkes watch the red corner guards bank left hand side they and it makes us properly her rock will be going towards those they might be able to sneak one into the rings miscue with the advantage John Wilkes there you go you're gonna kick something in here sure like all by Rachel great curling shot it's always what more can we get out of the shot yeah it is it's never just the peel you couldn't be more honest and Rachel right there Joanne says sorry I'm sweating yep you are watch this now hold this and spin away I still go for the two now everything's wide open that seems to me yes got lots of room for clothes really this close to the centerline I think they will get enough curl it's not close to the hill wider all the way back back 12 yeah they don't want to just set it on the tee line I'm gonna take a right back keep going it's an error so I'm feeling like pretty quick through here yeah quick that was backhoes I think this is the fastest bottom seat front end just prepared for whatever question and actually has the answer before the question yes that's it always gives them a lot more confidence you don't want to be discussing it when you're skip comes down you want to know certainty like four feet less than what I've been throwing you freezing to the back yes gotta go does this corners coming up quick they gotta get stay with it Ferguson and Brown they're gonna stay with it here it comes now can you carry it all the way to the back can you take it all the way down to the back what's the overt curl oh my and they got it there you have is the comment curled earlier than the [Applause] monalee you can go then now they go we Courtney now they go heads down says Coleman just keep your heads down and take it as far as you can here Courtney Paul is urging we go a little bit down what's the over curl trying to hold it oh they are the shot rock by that punch another great brushing get it there is one that you want to hold it that straight it be both seem to come in pretty straight at the end it's the hot line and it doesn't see curly incredible brushing by birth throw another one in there if you're Alberta there you could try to kick it out of the way like you only have so back line LG carry now by one got off to a slow start and really the numbers not what we've come to expect Rachel Homan the new Rachel Homan would you see this where the troz would be better than the hits where they are but again her numbers have come back from those lofty mid-90s player numbers brought to you by New Holland hash tag together glue we have to give Chelsea carries some kudos for driving that hit numbers down because she's made some rock placements and then Rachel's missed some runs what's the call I'm just down the corner again like not sure if they're trying to be aggressive on top adore just freeze but they're starting to lose line here again they go they are trying to tap it thick so Ferguson ground don't halting line where are you lines perfectly they got enough speed you can sit to here just move it back enough boy they are look at time they are hitting the two double now though I think there is [Applause] oh yeah it's real finicky like a normal yeah you throw the out we have tons of space yep this is I mean you you play this you get your one or you make that double for your deuce so there's really not a lot of risk maybe if you get that back when thin and up it might even be for three [Music] you'd have to just praise it it's its nose hit to score right that's the that's alt you want to do at the beginning so long as you don't miss this white side protected it towards the center line hit roll the button one if you can hold it there too but right now is Alberta who've battled their way back after trailing five one five for Ontario leads it Alberta sitting the two as we play here on eight Holmen her last nothing yet Courtney nothing yet legal all on its own run it back touch it runs it by and as you get back he knew one a cutter and he'll take her single [Applause] [Music] our boats was it to getting the deuce that Ontario picks up the single they lead by two [Music] did I think we'd be here be honest with you no and honest with you I've taught you in Ontario stole the to to start then put a three on the board I thought this may be over by now that's how the game is we go to nine six for Ontario leads it and Alberta with last Rock they have the hammer playing the yellow stones and in goes Ontario corner from Alberta and then the returns out to be another corner thrown up by Ontario I heard somebody sander there Breathitt pet as lease has been deadly all game and it just--over curled on them you might see them peeler on guard here red ones not helping well just one that team to be decided to compete in the world Women's Championship in Denmark beginning March 16th that's Canada familiar names there from inch from Germany Oh Angie Kim from a Korean horse so V Jackson beat Eve Mir had three times she represents Scotland hassle Barbarino Tiryns Oni we know Sinclair out of the u.s. the familiar names there you ever do that show yes they're trying to force here yeah they may eventually not that shape the retina is really not hurting him a shirt enough I guess they can run it across the nose and a slide underneath the wrong guard [Applause] I think you have to notice it gets them all I think last comment you can't throw it soft at this point in the game what they're saying there is down that center path it's just getting a little bit softer as every night game and every coach I spoke with particularly towards the end of the week Russ said they well I guess we should be surprised Isis best in the morning afternoon in fact by the evening at this time you find out whether you can handle it yeah yeah yeah true yeah yeah it's a lot more memory work a lot more thinking really nice shot by Dana otsuru gets close seven or eight out of order and you gotta go hey you should get off the corner guard your first can't hit the guard go okay and now where will it stop with that brush to get it off the guard and all the way back it goes so city - without flash Jacques Ontario here at night all the ingredients of the big score here for Alberta though Alberta's very happy Alberta guards they've got that back one that was just throwing that helps them and still some room down the middle of the sheet it may it surprises me maybe surprises others as well freeze she said would be best they would take it top in front of the T line but freeze is exactly best yeah I don't agree to be honest I think if you you freeze they may follow you down on freeze on top of it now that the force is on and that's what Holman wants sink this around top four-foot they got to get it around that guard their first oh gosh they just did and they're out that this goes hard here great spot top to freeze to it yeah and that's what Emma's trying right now freeze down to the corner of it bang it the brush went down in front of it before it even stopped miscue this is even closer to the yellow guard and it's all over to us they can direct it off no now watch this a little staggered leave a little a couple of greens over top I'm really surprised they didn't play that yellow double way earlier and in the end I know they're trying to force but not at their risky giving up a big score carried pretty good so there isn't sure as we look at that there isn't much of an overlap if you do come down and put it top eight run that red back for a part on the double maybe yeah it depends where this is right now to get to that yellow you have to hit that red one center line side and you could clip the yellow but if they actually create more of a pocket here it might be an easier run straight back run hoping should be in this situation she has to make a 12th flip run back and they could have hit some rocks and they're successful on those lately oh here we go they gotta get it through here get through that hole pin it around that Ontario stone watch out now and just to the top edge [Applause] what happened to that star was just a little gun-shy after hearing mine was 15 that just died down to a five nine it did not look no that felt I thought I was heavy I thought you were perfect off a pass sure right that's all it touching up yep red yellow double is there you know and three-quarters is close I'll drag it out just at the end miscue picked up on an overhead Courtney we go hard Joe Joe Courtney dangle it back emmalin drives it by then leaves the shooter out of the center line so you want a fighting four foot tall for again the same question if you come in that deep and if they miss the rug back if you come back doesn't it again leave the run back possible yeah oh it does but you can't what you know what can you do but you've got a sink one here and if that puts pressure on the opponent they've got to play a 12 foot run back in the Scotties final game like it's not an easy shot Sarah Wilkes now maybe she's not she was heavier where their first highlight again they're saying I want to roll this puppy off there you go the red one so that run back isn't there anymore finally getting badi yeah it's like the why your timeout being called each team given to 90 second time why don't we do this pretty good for Alberta they've got a lot of rocks to raise too but I have to make this not easy no like we definitely as long as we get anything on center it's gonna be open do you think it's easier to come this way we just haven't seen it I think the out turns easier okay three if we do this and at least get that one open we could pick it on the next one the shooter stays right there well it's no it'll be this one going so as long as we anywhere center even if we just stop knows it that's wide open yeah it'll be wide open yeah it'll sit there then they're coming around are they guarding they're coming around but we can hit this one and it's a max of two yeah or they or they yeah okay yep we had a weigh-in I like a lot the only thing is coming around wide but if they guard you come around earlier when they were laying to they had this one this one here and this one here they had the opportunity to make this easy double peel to open it up they elected to draw one in there to try to force carry to a single but it's obviously backfired so now hit it here yellows gone Reds gone if they get it in the right spot they can kind of keep it there once that's opened up then no matter what Chelsea does they'll have this shot to hold them down to a too-tight coming home with Herman skip stones here and I'm Rachel Homan [Music] exactly what they called yeah it is there's a lien there right now so can Chelsea come down there and kick it over a bit she could the only way you get three Rachel wanted to leave herself a couple options she's still got that red to run okay should be very straight there I think we could come here okay think you can't leave okay I just hit a thick Cheryl just just just go to here and kick that one to there I don't want to let her run it it's just it's draw to the button really top 12 or something loop around this cover this and and take the run away you're out of the button let them brush it a bit kick it back you only have to move it a foot I think my concern of being second is it's good if we're there but if we're if we're really I just want to leave our double okay if you have the line and can get right to here I think you do it okay but anywhere in that line I think is good I haven't mentioned your idea of bumping it back splitting it well my they're pretty safe scoring there to doing what they're doing and I think they're happy with two but you know ideally three would be the way to go on you score two scores tied you got Lisa regal making two ticks and your odds of winning either are not very good and I don't see a lot like he'd have to throw a little bit of weight for the shot you're calling and I don't see a lot of risk with it even if you hung a bit and came off the red piece back for makes it right you just ticked that you only have to roll what an inch with your shoes I don't mind this either it's takes away this whole it gives you your dues she's trying to take away that run at the same time so that Rachel doesn't have a run and it does a couple things chelsey carry first coming off that guard they've got that guard to get by first there's a hole there nothing yet get off that guard coming through get off that chart come on through come on through come on down to the top four [Applause] brilliant shop and I'm not sure it helps much Cheryl they just if they get through this port mind you helps a lot of thing but yeah it's it right there yeah they left the port they didn't intend to I mean she did talk about it's okay if we come to here but wants it over curled Rhys has to be a little cute with the jam though just soft wait hit rolling a bit they're very tough almost impossible to I would believe you know is it dull jams it you ever gonna throw one wall it's right here - this is really straight here what with hit weight pulling their last not a flick yet Courtney and we go now they better get through gotta get through again humping it over get through it get through it got it have it back the j/mol they'll spill it far enough is it one one and that one there that yellow looks to be the third shot I think it is Vic but I can yet there is there a port Cheryl between it's kind of if it's frozen they can't get that out of there karma coming in all the way they did to the straighter spot that my one the draw for to got to before better to top on the that rolls an inch less to hit for three I think the top because you can't even top it into ours is no good right that's where you were for that draw for to be she has to put adjust get around them the middle of yellow or not the outside one you can't get through that hole with the out turn across the face and push it back don't think so they'd be trying a tight well and it might read like if you hit it anything high side it might just read a rap on to the yellow try to score your three that's got a point oh you could probably knows it with back line and get to it might be easier than this draw so around the yellow which is guarding middle eight foot and you have to curl what foot in half after that and she thinks this is easier than tapping up one of those stones yes mr. temple their biggest draw of the night to 69% so far we're playing with that shelf air it'll get all right here to be quicker yeah does it ever say forget it not a chance not a chance so just the single and that may have been Alberta's chance [Music] championship banner and will be awarded and then hung in the club of the winning team by the Ottawa curling club or the Glencoe in Calgary two clubs it to have had outstanding success in Madison women's play in our country so Ontario couldn't be much better for them hood it up by one they have last Rock they have the hammer playing the red stones these ooh Eagles with the tick on her first just moved it back left the shooter though covering the eight trying it again here Fross we were debating it whether in fact Kelsey Terry played the right shot under what to the former prime minister mr. Harper would have played there would you come through the hole and across the face to get to or would you've tried that wide in turn draw I think she might have tried to come through the hole conservative no you wouldn't be playing with the red rocks really curling okay sorry really curling early just make sure it's deeper the best we certainly have to handle it to this and it's Alberta team to such a big game the emotions are flying in you're down 5:1 it just feels like you're down 75 and hung in there pushed Rachel - a couple tough runs and mm-hmm Rachel made a spectacular shot there that could have easily backfire - she overthrows out at all in that straight spot jams that it could have been a potential three [Applause] so of course last year Jennifer Jones with her a record-tying sixth championship now has a chance to break the log jam with the likes of the Sanderson Oerlikon yellow liberty and Veera hazard answer of course goes back to the Dominion curling days way back in the sixties [Music] wonderful curls different era of course she and Joyce McKee in particular and Sheila Rowan Lenore Morrison when a remarkable thing it would be for the Rachel Club a fourth title in seven appearances wondering probably way too early yeah I agree like to leave this one there too is it too soon to do this Ultimo get that yeah I'm out what do you think too soon I don't know if I mind it I mean eventually you've got to have them look at to here's what you want in the end I like coming around now I think we go around now probably right to here now they feel the guard you just up to guard it once or twice and then you can either split the Rings or guard it again imagine you'd split the Rings but the Chelsea's pointing it was a good one sorry Cheryl is if they throw a centre guard Rachael can peel it run over and get rid of one of those red ones yeah exactly like you might lose it anyway with throwing a center I like this so you get one dad on the on the ice coaching his daughter than the other dad mr. Holman Craig is up in the stands and barely standing well here he is he's in the stands he doesn't usually sit usually cities usually bouncing around somewhere he might be bouncing in that seat though by the time this is over you get to curl here will be the trick never those freezes down to the corner here that just ran straight all the way in and Barry if they do taking it all the way back Becky the easy nope nope I want to make sure you roll up leave one there still when you open with last Rock Alberta you give away a couple of steals and then the Chelsea carry very slow start miss the hit and roll gives up beat three then she hung tough stayed with it one steal steal and then did she missed the opportunity did she make the wrong choice in nine numbers still low compared to home and of course has come back to some reality after being in the mid-90s the game story brought to you by Tim Hortons the official Coffey of curling captain throwing up the guard to a cover shot Rock the tying point potentially for Alberta I just don't want to like okay like how thing is bad on this is probably bad did you do it Sarah Wilks edition came down the front well they're gonna rip it anyway I mean what other what alternative does Alberta have right now with their stolen and trying to cover it what else would you go wow I think it's because it was over curling on it and so they were trying to go off but like Sarah said it didn't matter what it was doing she figures they're going up and ripping the guard they're not gonna play the back one so I was with her okay second time out quickly taken by Alberta two shots I can make my shows a lit and smart asset to like just please like beside it right do you think Rachel will ignore the a guard take care I think things no not now right sorry regard then if she feels fine if she comes around it we potentially couldn't drink the scoring area a bit right yeah feeling it and then we just go I think right here on my last one just across it enough that she can't make the double and roll towards the middle oh you're doing another dirt okay yeah I think so Marion a hint it's the scoreboard isn't it the dictates what rates were Holies gonna do she's up by one that's a huge advantage yeah she's gonna she gonna feel yeah and then they got to put something somewhere that they think they're making a mess out of it yeah you can't I can't see Rachel and then dance right it's you throw the guard if Rachel makes a move I not maybe she's a foot heavy you hit and roll buried you sit and that to bury Rachel's drawing against the loss this is still like Nikki yeah yes you wanted to draw for you this is just pointing to be the time of night of their next one I mean so that if it's not perfect then Alberta has a chance to apply a lot of pressure by sitting to around the guard get it earlier sounds like she said what did she last word she said this is lightning she talked yourself into holding the string here I don't think it's lightning down that slide this may change things credit with this this long would you yep ignore it no yeah I think I think I would you can see it pretty better guy yeah and this is still a takeout pick if you eat you're gonna err on the inside here if you get the guard that's fine too but because there's room they're just gonna go straight back there and get that back one I have like if she freezes and I just do the same thing ideally Cheryl maybe maybe rolled up there not that you love to be behind the tea line but that stops Alberta from doing that and Chelsea has to make a perfect freeze and you know I heard that it I hit stuff on this ice [Music] [Applause] yeah as long as it's not open open then she just blah sorry if it's open we got it top it rollin accepted wrong you're gonna freeze I know they talked about surprised really surprised cause you can't see a lot of under that's super straight earlier in the week you can make that one word wait but now it's so straight it's not moving at all no she threw this a couple ends ago made it perfectly twice gives you a chance at your next one too and if you can freeze it you're not going to be throwing against the laws here comes that murder guard as well got it by that now Courtney says they're close just got over pearl on them this one over curl on them a little bit more oh I just stopped shot rock [Applause] I wanted to top that out I think that would have been to play Cheryl I know it was fairly well buried but the guards in a different area code I agree this is and by kana she set up a pocket a bit now you just come freeze down even top it a little bit I think you'd love to sit to when you need me that changes tap changes the rules if you tap that okay I think I'm throwing you a freeze but if we have the line we sleep at the top at a bit giving the directions pointing on a little bit more ice so the brush is just down see you maybe a hair of side the center line in the final stone of Chelsea Kerri right now shot rock belongs to Ontario she needs to be the shot stone six five Ontario leads it needs to adjust from that guard she was quite light wiped it out of her hand in Ferguson and brown it's all about Sarah Wilkes now calling alarm and here they go all about Brown all about Ferguson now get it by that guard and take it down bring it down ladies take it down put it on the corner give your skipper a chance take it down all the way to it like that we could have knocked all [Applause] they think they didn't sweep it after it yet oh it's close looks like yellow to me Ryan shot is the same so you believe it is the deuce this is against a draw against the two right there move it farther so cold draw and here we are after leading it five to one a draw against two and Alberta may have the win here needs our good piece of the four took a lot more ice here so I think she's just thinking straight draw or I'll not the top Rachel Homan final stone keep the brooms down meso eagle Joanne courtly he really gotta go oh my gosh you gotta go over ladies you gotta get in with polar here comes into mr. gotta go ladies you gotta give it to the caller get into the part is he got a clinic Fabio Capello can turn cooler No now you look one for sure well they didn't even put a stick to it combined that ventures so fast goodness gracious they're gonna go one more we're tied at six [Music] Scotties Tournament of Hearts is brought to you by parents bathroom tissue find comfort and pure acts [Music] it is the Canadian women's curling championship into an extra week oh all tied at six Center guards and play and ticks being tried we go still one in leaves the centerline guard a shelter on through the first one right on the centerline he said just grazed it rolled into the rings which could be the winning point and then the second one went up she made the second one perfect as she usually does down to one guard for Alberta here Dana Ferguson pull an unlocked those two cuz that's what you don't like if your Ontario stedy topped all the bidders will make a top button now it could be the winning rock so let's take a look at that last Rock trough drawing against a couple and look at the carry here and now miscue out as well gotta get it there there is your second pull there's your second shot so no need to measure at the back and we get the point on the board Alberta and now looking back yes started with two steals they picked up Alberta two steals in the middle one more and that now is five steals had they not got that there Vic who was second shot saw what if people think it's a skips game they're crazy that front end how they got that thing like that was what five six inches away from a potential Stila to and was going right through the middle of the circle the center line where it's a little slower brushing okay that's fine okay good [Applause] we're good and good they are close to showing you them as knowledgeable as experienced as someone as rachel is or chelsea that they could get caught on that center path yeah no it's because Chelsea are Rachel had been throwing to the wings a lot and so she kind of knew that path and you know you have to throw extra but the question is always how much yeah they took an extra good foot of ice and it was into a slower spot don't want it too deep here with any angle at all trained to Russ's as skips to never overthrow it so you have that use your browsers you hear it in your head all the time so it's always tough to put it there nice just in a spot where the brushes weren't quite as useful are they they couldn't drag it quite as far in that little softer area incredible brush Lisa Wiegel after she threw the rock just sat right down and just tried to get some oxygen what a shot that'll take a lot of pressure off oh it does mean that double it's your rock there instead now still a good chance oh isn't it woman with a slight advantage she's got the save her there but she can get this in a little better closer to the button than the previous rock was it was only top eight get this in four four zero line back poor whoa then throw sir no hang it on the back edge stop draw for the moment Alberta Hertz had to be in front of the T line clean [Music] [Applause] well I think we want guards put it just lecture half I was just to say whoever makes the come around it's got to be better than the skip slaw shots come around that Rachel can beat that one don't you never know what do you do with the last one girl okay well top each I think so well it didn't start off much of a game for the people here to steal Ontario's dominance up five one would boy the crowd that Center two hundred has been treated to something tonight topic maybe in a split Center on Chelsea's lost [Applause] my old single two in a row right off the top by Ontario three by a border to get themselves into it this is a lot tighter in that previous one and this is fooled them again edge of the ADA curls like four feet middle twelve throws like two [Applause] sorry I said you have a tough job yup this on the way by you play this out so Rachel peels and then for Chelsea's dia just even show a little bit of the that yellow one top eight leave the yellow in a noise that they win rights but just show like half of it okay like word the broom is almost yeah pretty much got you make a play the double back fat tongue saver they have helps a lot she don't have to be perfect if you're Rachel on your last one sack rolling away they do but would you come out this with the intern rather than the out turn because it's curling that month yeah it is tricky this way something like that Cheryl yeah and I was thinking even a little tighter in about they're not right yep be careful not to leave this one wide open I don't think being second is that helpful I think this is our chance yeah right where your broom is I think cover the inside part of this time out the other problem to Cheryl's you're really soft weight and just come off of that one or come off of that one I'm not I think you agree that you want Rachel to draw I guess so if you just saw its role one yeah you know but I also look at the fact that Rachel's miss some most two ends of short runs nothing's easy in this situation know it's extra and Canadian championship I think but again I come back to throwing this out turn is it because they just know this path despite the fact that it hooks or would you ever consider the intern to put it in I think they just know this Vic they've seen it enough and they don't have to play across the sludge that they're actually trying to push Rachel into playing and drawing down I think it's white now if it's in the good stuff top-12 fine you can heed to guard quite a bit they do have the hack weight off the red and the yellow if they don't hurt all this yellow pretty much later edge of the Yi that's where they wanted it and that's a little deeper mighty buy a stone than they had hope that's pretty good he could see a little bit of it this is the new Rachel though isn't it I mean you would think did she it'd be close enough to run it back as you said she's missed some but she's going to the draw here fit for her you know she just missed one but you the one she missed was by an inch don't forget it wasn't awful and this is outing the good path crowd very appreciative of this season Rachel in 2017 of course went to an extra Vince michella ng locked and Manitoba score - to win 86 sweep for the tea although slowed down a couple feet here but it should be pretty man oh gosh half a stone on the floor drawing against two and as the crowd settles in and she focuses in for a fourth championship needs a good piece of the floor and again right away Courtney and regal I can't really gotta push you here now holes right up behind her I can't same thing here again missed you your gutter girl you gotta get me the floor take it to the floor little bit forward teleporter you've gotta cause it to fall Alberto Chelsea Carey [Applause] students Oh [Applause] [Music] [Applause] that's a trailer fine Gillan after and literally stolen this championship boy from Ontario Rachel outscoring Ontario seven to one we want to tell those of you watching on TSN 3 he'll be leaving us to be wanna watch the awards ceremony t is head 1 4 & 5 Alberta in the largest comeback in final history in the Scotties history Alberta are your Canadian women's curling champion [Music] [Applause] the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is brought to you by world financial group helping Canadians have better financial futures by Tim Hortons official copy of curling Canada and by Home Hardware here's how [Music] the moment you know you are a Canadian champion Rochelle drowned the Dean of Ferguson having lost two previous finals when playing with valve sweetie Chelsea Carrie wins for a second time as he would cry chelsey certainly a flair for the dramatic down five wininet game you come back in to win your second Scotty's title how did you hold in there you know this is a little tricky and they early on we're making everything and we just were like well we need some misses just keep trying to make her throw hard shots when I got a couple of misses and you're a second title for the first for your teammates what does it be to do it with this team I'm so happy for Dana and Rochelle I mean they've been so close every time and I wanted really badly to win it for them so it's awesome team Canada again you did it at 2016 some unfinished business for Chelsea Kerry yeah for sure we're looking to go there and stand on the podium at least if not bring home a title for Canada but I'm gonna worry about that later and to do it with your dad amazing yeah he wasn't on the bench oh that's at 16 he was there but it's awesome to have him be a part of it the comeback kid congratulations I'll take it well indeed and when you look at her winning percentage when you think of her four appearances and what she's been able to do finishing the round-robin nine and two then of course winning the one-two and now finishing this event eleven and two surpassing Rachel Homan Jennifer Jones to the very best say yeah look at that can you imagine they get to celebrate it with your dad and your teammates and here on Canadian champions from the Glencoe Club in Calgary coach Dan Perry Michelle Brown it lead second Tina Ferguson Sarah Wilks and for a second time Canadian champion Chelsea Carey [Applause] [Music] just the composure that team have [Music] to the 2019 champions [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] congratulations to the Canadian champions from Alberta Chelsea Kerry less than a mile of water separates it from mainland Canada but when you come to Cape Breton Island it feels like Otherworld it's rugged coastline unique culture combined to form a truly spectacular part of our country but of all the great things this island has to offer it's the people that make it so special Cape Breton errs are funny and genuine they're the type of folks that stop you on the sidewalk just to ask how your day is going and when their day is done they're not afraid to have a good time for ten days we've been introduced to their way of life and they've made us feel right at home with that in mind it's no surprise that Hosting of Scotty's here turned out to be the perfect fit as it always seems to do our national championship provided its fair share of surprises we met a rookie skip from BC who played like she'd been here a dozen times before we saw Canada's smallest province come up big breaking records along the way and we watched a team from Nunavut win a game for the very first time their smiles telling us just how much it meant the participants here the Scotty's showed us that they are incredible athletes after all their curling ability is why they're here however more importantly they reminded us that much like the folks here on Cape Breton Island they are wonderful people as well they're funny they're genuine they're the kind of people you'd love to stop to have a chat with just to see how their day is going they've become role models looked up to by the next generation they always handle that job with ease win or lose the curlers in this country are a class act it's always a pleasure to tell their store Thank You Sydney you have been a wonderful host and we do hope to see you again soon and thank you to the amazing curling women of Canada we hope to see you all again next year in Moose Jaw at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and with that it's time to say goodbye to Sydney so our thanks to the organising committee to some 400 volunteers for all that you've done for us to all the curlers for their cooperation to our crew another job well done we thank you for everything now we'll turn our attention to the hidden Hortons Brier and it begins next Friday we'll be in Brandon and we'll open with the play in game it'll be John Epping
