he's hitting in the three spot he's a shortstop he's at all of 25 games under his belt in the big leagues but he's hitting third batting 337 Adrian Gonzalez at another all-star season he's a lefty power-hitting first baseman former met Justin Turner at third base since he left the Mets he's been about a 315 hitter Andre Ethier resurgence he's in right field at 294 batter this year AJ Ellis is the catcher in its bazaars is a career 240 regular season hitter but in the postseason he's closer to 400 joc Pederson in center Terry Collins used to manage his dad and Peterson the guy who almost won the home run derby this year's strikeout prone center fielder batting eighth Clayton Kershaw's the pitcher he bats number 9 and how he has what was written here locally in LA the Dodgers players are mostly playing for legacy and love but their manager is managing for his job as you kind of mentioned a little bit earlier Kershaw losses in this NLDS again orb Adrian Gonzalez hits 188 in the first round again those guys aren't going anywhere but Don Mattingly and the Dodgers feel like there's some pressure to win light now the Mets so thrilled to be here we're getting close to the first in his last outing 301 for the year and again the payoff pitch on the way to right swing and a foul back to the screen and David who's 3 for 14 against Kershaw in the past having a tough at-bat here was a nine pitch at-bat after Granderson went 4-1 South as pitous waiting patiently on deck Gonzales Kendrick Seager Turner first a third around the infield Crawford Peterson Ethier left to right of the outfield payoff pitch another foul ball that'll come right back into the second deck behind home plate the Kershaw that time muscled up to 96 the hardest pitch he's thrown a bunt the tandem that he's thrown to David Wright AJ Ellis says he often has catches Clayton Kershaw the catcher for the Dodgers so again here's the payoff pitch to right no ball for and David with an outstanding at-bat against Kershaw works out a one-out walk David's longest at-bat of the year and it comes against the guy who's got a 7 to 1 a strikeout to walk ratio so here is Cespedes now Cespedes finished on the cold side as he went 2 for his last 14 he's gone over 50 at-bats now without a home run batting 287 as a met he had 17 homers with New York and that's at around a third of the season 57 games at all he had 35 home runs total between his work with the Tigers evidence drove in 105 all told right and better Kershaw deals fastball right down the middle of call strike at 96 Kershaw actually has what they call reverse splits but they're nothing to make a big fuss about that means that the right-handed hitters who you would imagine might hit him a little better than the lefties actually don't hard biting slider down and in that Cespedes waves at it for Kurt Shaw's first strikeout now there are a 2 min away and it will break up Daniel Murphy after that first pitch fastball just an array of sliders degrom throws a an even faster slighter than Kershaw and that's pretty impressive to say man out Daniel Murphy and you have to say that with all the left-handed pitching the Mets are going to see in this series because you know don't forget you're talking about Anderson and wood should they both get in plus Kershaw guys like Murphy become very very important first pitch to the left-hand hitter a fastball in for a false right nothing at one Murph on the year hit 281 with 14 homers and 73 runs batted in Murphy not a guy who's never been bothered a whole lot against lefties hit 254 d'Arnaud a homeboy waits on deck so the bits really make it Kershaw work here in this first finish next pitch will be number 20 he's Owen tuna Murphy Kershaw ready now the pitch curveball tapped up the first base line a foul ball fielded by Tom Goodwin you can roll up seven foul balls in one inning off Kershaw that frustrates him and he's not as emotional as some others but he's got that burning base umpire Greg Gibson has his hands up to indicate time had been call because degrom as he came off the rubber suddenly aborted his delivery and a major thing maybe he slipped her somehow rolled an wind blowing through their dugout right now and I would think the first huff and puff would come from there hitting coach Mark McGwire it would be guys slow it down make him get it down but so far the Dodgers are up there hacking at the high heat remember first base is open here you've got the 8 and 9 hitters Peterson and Kershaw to follow Ellis to a no the count degrom ready now the pitch fastball little bit deeper at least offensively anyway one down and up comes Duda another lefty who's in the lineup here mark and a guy that really had never had success against Kershaw until his last two swings he is 2 for his last two against him having been old for 9 with 7 punch outs before that played a little pinball there yeah Kershaw trying to kick it and deflect it towards first shift is on for Duda and the pitch is watched over the outside corner strike one and you know mortars very quickly back to Terry Collins six years ago he was managing a college summer league team as a favor to a friend oh one pitch on the way curve is low 1 & 1 and you know wasn't quite Lou Brown in the movie major-league Jerry you know wasn't born out of retirement from selling white walls at tire world like the fictional Lou Brown but Terry did wonder if he'd ever make it back to the big leagues as a coach let alone a manager and here he is and of all places LA and ahead one to nothing in the 4th inning there are 733 big league pitchers that have pitched 1,500 innings or more he's number one in terms of ER a all-time curve is swatted in the air toward center by Cuddyer hangs up there Peterson under was incumbent upon Familia to get to the bag even faster and he did remember Murphy played most of this game at second base for his first postseason game has been especially memorable and now it's down to Peterson who has intentionally walked in the second flied to left and struck out 3 to 1 Mets two out nobody on Familia sets the infield over shifted first pitch fastball in for a call streak
