I really like the sound of the 919 somehow... it's a small quiet turbo engine, yes, yet the onboards give it a sort of purposeful, noisy growl. Much more characterful than the stale puttering of F1 onboards. Plus that ERS shriek overlaying the gearshifts, and on the long straights a touch of turbo whistle, adding to the overall texture.

The old "no push-to-pass buttons" regulation from the 2011-2013 rules is clearly not a thing in the 2014+ regulations since the 919 drivers do it all the time. See traffic in the distance, identify the type of car, judge closing speed, calculate (intuit) whether it will be possible to catch them before the next braking point, and add a jolt of electricity to crank the revs up and try and make the pass before the next corner. The batteries always seem to have enough in reserve for 1-3 manual bursts per lap.

In particular, most encounters with the low-drag Nissan on the straights seem to necessitate it since the 919 doesn't have the top speed to ensure an easy pass on engine power alone.
