acl week 16 of last season will return he told me he expects to be nervous and tentative early on but also hopes those feelings will dissipate quickly as for the bears cornerback charles tillman missed two days of practice this week with a knee injury but he will start tonight all right thank you michelle as we get set for the kickoff sean sweeson will kick off the steelers won the toss and elected to defer and that means devin hester will get the ball possibly unless it's a touch back [Applause] last week five returns for 249 yards and this year after starting his career as a return man exclusively and then playing a good deal of offense he and mark trustman got together and agreed that this year hester would only concentrate on kickoff and punt returns no offense at least that's the plan at the moment as sweden sends it down to the end zone and hester will down at theirs the chicago bears will take over at the 20-yard line let's take a look at the chicago starters jay cutler vanderbilt university matt forte tulane tony fiameta syracuse brandon marshall wide receiver university outshine jeffrey south carolina martellus bennett texas a m jamon bushrod towson university matt slawson nebraska roberto garza texas a m kingsville kyle wong oregon jordan mills v louisiana tech university that offensive line featuring two rookies on the right side two off-season acquisitions on the left side and the only returner from last season would be the center garza from the 20-yard line cutler right to the air on a straight drop back into the outside brandon marshall who said he's from wide receiver university otherwise known as central florida gate of nine jay cutler who came over in that trade about four years ago from denver the huge deal and of course that electrified the fan base in chicago game winning touchdown drives in the fourth quarter in each of the first two games for cutler now in his eighth season in the league from vanderbilt second and one took a look at jarvis jones number 95 the rookie linebacker for the pittsburgh steelers and they give it to forte and chicago starts the game with a first down to the 33 yard line let's take a look at the pittsburgh defense ziggy hood missouri steve mcclendon show university brett keisel grebel high school go bucs lamar woodley university of michigan keon wilson south florida lawrence timmons florida state jarvis jones georgia william gates louisville troy polamalu university of southern california ryan clark lsu i.t swagger university big changes of course no more james harrison he's in cincinnati no casey hampton he's out of the league right now cutler off the play faith going deep and incomplete intended for al shawn jeffrey they'll be second down and we talked about a little bit in the open but i think the headline for the chicago bears in this offense is the fact that mark tressman has only allowed jay cutler to be sacked one time in the first two games now we've seen some games in which cutler was sacked nine times in the first half against the new york giants pretty impressive especially when you consider two rookie offensive linemen up there on the right hand kyle long the number one pick this year and jordan mills a fifth round pick getting it done long number 75 the son of the hall of famer howie long and the brother of chris of the rams over the middle and complete to jeffrey and that's a three yard short of the first down key on wilson making the tackle for pittsburgh it'll be third down and three probably the most interesting part for me is the fact that mark trustman has gotten jay cutler early in the games to get rid of the football he wants him to get settled he wants to give this offensive line a chance don't let the defense especially on the road gain some momentum quick throws here early now cutler in a bit of a rhythm from the shotgun and he's using more and more shotgun the last two years this year about two-thirds of the passing plays come out of the gun meanwhile polamalo on a delayed blitz got there late the pass is caught by jeffrey on the outside so jeffrey's been targeted on three straight plays two completions to him taylor makes the tackle first down bears troy polamalo anytime you're working against rookie offensive lineman watch him go back and then loop back around i think they sort of forgot him for a second and here he comes but cutler because he got the ball out of his hand so quickly it really didn't matter polomalo playing a lot in that linebacker kind of setting now without larry foote and his experience he went down with an injury they're bringing him up much more from the 48. glitch is picked up pass is caught and again it's jeffrey so that's four straight passes in jeffrey's direction close to a first down the ball will be spotted at the 43-yard line just short of it mike toblin it's hard to believe already a seventh season as the coach of the steelers still only 41 years old third youngest coach in the league has guided them to two super bowls and one win in the super bowl against arizona after the 08 campaign yeah we asked him how do you get out of this hole and he said first of all you got to quit digging his keep digging going the wrong way second and one forte and he threads his way for a first down lawrence timmins makes the tackle at the 41-yard line the bears start the game with three successive first downs on this drive well here we go working over here with the rookies on this side bring a little power around with matt slawson number 68 just enough to pick up that first down but you can tell the confidence that jay cutler has coming out now he just looks so comfortable standing back there in the pocket throwing the football comes up with three tight ends and sends marshall in motion on the first half play from the 41. play action buys time swings it to the outside forte who scored 15 balls in two games 11 last week jarvis jones makes the tackle it's a gain of four no call there i thought matt slawson had his arm wrapped around i believe it was keisel let's take a look right over here and see if we think we see a little something here [Applause] starts to escape and there's the arm wrap and they're gonna let that one go jay cutler is going to be just fine tonight yes second down and six from the 37. [Applause] [Music] quick throw to the outside and that's jeffrey and he should have a first down rolling four they'll spot the ball at the 31-yard line so a very impressive opening drive nine plays and they've gone 50 yards in five minutes well if you follow the pittsburgh steelers you know that guy right there ike taylor is generally the guy that covers the number one receiver for the other team on this one he's on al shawn jeffries and i guess why not he's been getting the ball every time but cutler was telling us he was really disappointed he thinks jeffries looks great they target him a lot of times in the first couple games just didn't work out that way but you can tell the confidence that he hasn't he gets a rest he's got four passes on this drive and cutler with the play clock winding down will take a timeout nine and a half to go in the opening quarter chicago on the opening drive midnight football brought to you by southwest airlines you can find our fares online only at southwest.com by verizon never be without football with nfl mobile by nissan innovation for today innovation for tomorrow innovation that excites and by miller light it's not just a good time it's miller time in june the steelers held a youth camp in mexico city and on tuesday roberto carso was at thomas kelly high school in chicago at the fitness center clay resumes after the time-out and brandon marshall gets taken down by troy polamalu behind the line of scrimmage this guy makes the flashiest plays of anybody in the national football league watch him come all the way across almost setting the hook for jay cutler yeah he's open he's open he's open he's not so open over there the tape last week in the game against cincinnati i thought troy polamalo looked like he was about 24 years old flying around making plays just like that eleventh you're in the league and you can't miss him with that flowing mane second and 14. [Applause] hola model this time backs off and the pass is caught at the 30-yard line by earl bennett who played with cutler years ago at vanderbilt he's their number three receiver they'll be third down to nine dick leveaux 55th consecutive season 14 as a player 41 as a coach and uh last week a couple of weeks ago turned 76. and this is his signature part of the game third and long you could get anything here here's paula molo right in the middle of the field keep your eye on him nobody with her hand on the ground in the pittsburgh defense everybody's standing up now they put a hand down one guy anyway is glitching they're swinging to the outside and cutler throws that one way out of bounds earl bennett the nearest target but really not even close and so the drive boggs down they're steadily moving down the field and then kind of stop themselves by taking that time out the new left tackle the pro bowler jamon bushrod is going to end up picking up polamalo coming off the edge here and then matt forte very underrated as a blocker picked up robert golden but just nobody open down the field dick lebeau wins the first one robbie goal this is a 47-yard attempt but a tough place to pick field goals but the conditions are good tonight and so is robbie gold on that 47-yard attempt eight minutes left in the corner chicago up by three log on to nbcsports.com live extra a lot of good stuff there in-game stats highlights share your favorite plays the show with social media reports mike florio aboard and tonight chad brown the former steeler linebacker is our social media guest analyst chat with him as well good opening drive for chicago but it bogged down after 13 plays and 51 yards consuming almost seven minutes robbie gold to kick off in the direction of felix jones and the former cowboy who came over from philadelphia before the start of the season downs are there let's take a look at the steelers starters ben roethlisberger miami redhawks felix zones arkansas emanuel sanders smu antonio brown central michigan jericho catri nc state heath miller virginia mike adams the ohio state university vermont foster tennessee fernando velasco georgia david de castro stanford marcus gilbert university of florida of course one guy missing would be mike wallace who signed that big contract with the now undefeated after three games miami dolphins were 3-0 and knocked off atlanta earlier fake toss and then the handoff goes to jones and one time number one draft choice of the dallas cowboys picks up 11 before he's tackled by the safety chris conti 75 yards in two games and they get 11 on the first play well the great thing about it was that you're going to see felix jones here just picking up running yardage they went crazy the crowd was like they scored a touchdown on to play a 10-yard gain and that was that's big news around here first down at the 31-yard line the crowd loves that heath miller the salute to him from the crowd hit by anderson so tore up his knee week 16 last year rehab didn't play obviously in pre-season or the first two weeks and sees his first action since december right here yeah arguably the most significant guy on this offense right now because they need help blocking in the running game and he's certainly an asset there but more than anything else ben roethlisberger has a comfort level with heath miller that he really doesn't have with anybody else security blankets second and four pressure on and ben is going to lose the ball it's loose at the 16 yard line pete morelli comes in and signals that chicago has it dj williams came in stripped it roethlisberger goes down loses the ball james anderson comes up with it and chicago and business deep in pittsburgh territory [Applause] dj williams just comes free on a blitz right here and ben gets really loose with the football tries to step up it flails away from him and out it goes so for the chicago bears who have been struggling getting pressure on the quarterback immediate pressure immediate turnover and the way the pittsburgh steelers have been scoring points lately less than 10 points per game a touchdown here is dangerous beers terrific through the years takeaways lovie smith and it hasn't changed thus far in this regime ball at the 17-yard line and cutler under pressure throws and it's incomplete and looking for a flag was bennett doesn't get when polamalo was back there as they got tangled up second and ten well most nfl fans know now tangled feet that's not pass interference a little grab there i would say that's a good no call you just play and if your feet get tangled so be it sort of like running into the referee or something just part of the game second and 10. forte is the running back [Applause] following his blocking the pittsburgh is able to clog up the middle can take it only to the 16-yard line it'll be third down to nine steve mcclendon makes the tackle well once dante rosario the tight end went in motion you could see troy palamalo going with him and you're gonna block he's gonna blitz and there he is right in the backfield to make the play he's looking pretty comfortable playing that linebacker position third and nine with the play clock down to three cutler slings it over the middle it's caught by forte and he has a first down at the five yard line so he checks it down shamarco thomas makes the tackle forte who catches a lot of balls out of the backfield than a big one here well forte is going to check his protection first polamallo goes back which allows forte to come out on the route forte last week i think played the way that the bears have always envisioned him playing here's the right side of this offensive lineman kyle long battling as hard as he can but when he is catching and rushing for approximately the same number of yards the bears are tough to beat first and goal from the five forte into the end zone touchdown chicago [Applause] roethlisberger getting sacked fumbling losing the ball and the bears go in quickly in a minute and a half 17 yards to go up nine nothing going on 10 with the extra point and this is the old pittsburgh steelers power play right here they threw it right back in their face with matt slawson coming around so much for the rookies on the right side kyle long jordan mills getting it done over there right through william gay to take it into the end zone and robbie gold converts 505 left in the opening quarter chicago cashes in bears league 10-7 tomorrow it's the season debut of the voice the original four superstar judges return tomorrow eight eastern and pacific seven central and mountains followed by the premiere of blacklist the blackness right here on nbc cruising down the river and felix will bring the ball back out to the 20-yard line pittsburgh will get it started again already down 10 to nothing the steal of ran synonymous with running the football through the years but 75 yards through the first two games fewest in the first two games of a season in franchise history and eight straight games with fewer than 100 rushing yards as a team tied for the longest streak in franchise history you'd have to go back to 1935. they started out with an 11-yard run then roethlisberger with the sack fumble and now this drive between the 21 and then under pressure throws and the pass is incomplete intended for heath miller well the offensive coordinator is todd haley and right now he would be a man at least in the fan's eyes in the crosshairs he is but so has ben roethlisberger the chicago bears obviously have decided they're coming after roethlisberger and this one dj williams who got the sack fumble and the last one nearly got there on that one as well steelers last year running only 40 of the time and now jones and there's nothing happening in the middle of the line let's take a look at that chicago defense corey wooten northwestern stephen empire oregon state university henry mountain texas julius peppers north carolina james anderson virginia tech dj williams the u lance briggs desert swarm arizona tim jennings georgia major rock the university of florida chris conde cal charles tune the university of louisiana source one notable absence as you look at briggs would be his longtime running mate brian erlacker who felt that the bears offered him a low ball contract in the off season he declined and right now brian is on television and not in the national football league third down and nine and ben going deep and reaching out for it is emmanuel sanders he lays out but can't make the play he's gotten behind charles tillman he'll be fourth down [Music] well once again the pressure coming from those inside linebackers [Applause] but for ben roethlisberger this is just another missed opportunity you can tell that charles tillman is a guy that likes to look in the backfield he reads the eyes of roethlisberger a little bit of a double move from sanders there that one had a chance to be a big touchdown that they missed here's zolton the former new england punter who was signed just before opening day and it's fielded at the 40-yard line and fair caught there by devin hester 3 57 to go in the opening quarter chicago with the ball and up by 10. new brain trust aaron kromer is the offensive coordinator mel tucker is the defensive coordinator and mark trustman long time assistant in the nfl in five years in canada with montreal the head coach at the age of 57 his first head coaching job and that's a huge hole for 4k who regains his balance inside the 30 the 20 down the sideline he goes and he steps out of bounds just before he got to the goal line to the five yard line he goes first and goal a gigantic hole which he exploits and it's a 55-yard run for forte steelers trying to use their favorite blitz this cross blitz and the rookies pick it up beautifully come in here coming around and watch the two guys on the right side bang bang huge hole big game so far out of the rookies kyle long and jordan mills you knew lebeau was going to test the young guys see if they could handle all the different looks so far the answer a resounding yes and ryan clark couldn't make the tackle which would have stopped him about eight yards downfield the ball is at the five first and goal and chicago will take its second timeout they knew that this was going to be a challenge the first time they played on the road for these two rookies kyle long and jordan mills playing against an elaborate defense with dick lebeau and all the different stunts that were going to happen to him out here but at least thus far these two guys right here have been spot on i mean that is a blitz that we see 10 times every time we watch the pittsburgh steelers play and they could not have timed that out any more perfectly just one two they said they spent all week this week with the noisemakers on and all that even in walkthroughs just going after blitz after blitz after blitz so far they got it well they've taken a lot of noise away from the crowd already it's [Applause] marshall does get the flag for interference mike taylor so that should put the ball at the one-yard line pete morello is saying number 24 defense the penalty happened i've been in the end zone by rule the ball be placed in the one one yard line first down brandon marshall's a big man mike taylor is going to wrap his right arm around brandon marshall and pull if he lets it go you're okay they saw a little tug with that thing there and that's why you're going to get the call pretty good play by ike taylor pretty tough coming up that big bring michael bush in the short yardage man and bushes into the end zone for a bears touchdown one official signals touchdown the others coming in and saying he didn't get in so you've got the two officials who saw it from different angles the nearside official calls it a touchdown you also have a flag down in the end zone and morelli will sort this out right now [Applause] the ruling on the field is down by contact second down you judge that looks like a touchdown to me it does to me too i mean if a forearm goes down a shoulder any of that stuff now the ball was trailing just a little bit so maybe that's what they saw well chicago can challenge a scoring play would automatically be reviewed this is not a scoring play but tressman could challenge this if he wanted to so your option is do you want to challenge it maybe win it 50 50 or second and goal he chooses not to and it is out of the end zone mark thomas bennett didn't get down inside timmon's forcing him out and that'll make a third down and goal this one is really close and you just wonder if the fact that chicago had only one timeout remaining played into that and future challenge possibilities but anytime you have a touchdown you may put on the board especially in the first half of games i don't know martellus bennett he's made some great end zone catches taps that toe well nothing there and now you got bush going in and chicago signals touchdown but one of the officials say so far nothing [Applause] this decision is getting more and more significant here yep now they're going to put it down at about the two inch line fourth you down about the possibility of a momentum changer right here well you could argue both of those were in there now you can say if freshman wants to challenge this he can there he is yeah he's going to challenge he figured he didn't challenge the first one it was second down and goal but this time he's going to have them take a look upstairs i think he wins this one say i'd like to challenge the first one i want to go back right you're right i got a better shot at the first one than i do the second one what do you i think he wins this one what do you think chicago is challenging the ruling on the field that it is a touchdown has to be conclusive yes it does about 40 more looks i'll let you know we'll find that in a minute this is going to come down to if it's conclusive or not it might not be it looks like the the ball crosses the plane of the goal line any part of the ball the front part of the goal line it's that's a touchdown but the question is where was his knee when did his knee go down it's hard to see his lower body at that point so his elbow may have even hit first so morelli now will have to figure out is this conclusive or not remember the ruling on the field was no touchdown here he comes after reviewing the play the ruling on the field stands chicago it destroys your third and final two timeout and now there are the challenges the remainder of this half well now since they lose the timeout they're out of timeouts which means they can't challenge they will go for it and again morelli didn't elaborate but i have to think he didn't see the conclusive evidence as to where the lower part of his body was when the ball crossed the plane so here we go what a series this has been fourth and goal this could be a season changer for the pittsburgh steelers if they could pull off the pittsburgh defensive moment right here and this crowd understands that everybody standing terrible towels in abundance you got bush the back fiona is the fullback here comes paula model right up to the line and you got bush and with that second surge he's in for the touchdown boy that was going to the dentist for chicago but they get it in with bush who they like to bring in at 6-1 and 245 pounds short yardage well this is some run by the 245 pounds michael bush timmons is going to get a dead shot on him here and just can't hold him out i mean timmons is the best player in my opinion maybe other than polamalu on this team i thought we might see the polo model leap over the top and try and make a play but he just didn't quite time it out perfectly that ball almost came out he almost lost the ball regains possession hit by vince williams on that pop goal for the extra point [Applause] and the chicago bears have now run 21 plays to six for pittsburgh 124 yards to nine for pittsburgh and the bears are on top 17 to nothing well i mentioned at the outset the fan base here as rabid as they get around the national football league very restless how do you think they're feeling right now not very good at all because this is a team that has really struggled to score points and now you're 17 points down i i don't know what you do other than let ben roethlisberger try and do his thing but so far this one could not have started any worse for a team struggling to score points we talked about some of the guys that are missing mike wallace took the money and ran to miami richard mendenhall let him go he's now in arizona max starks out of the league at the moment the tackle willie colon gone as well the longtime guard james harrison has taken uh his equipment to cincinnati he got larry foote and marquise pouncing lost for the year you saw casey hampton the long time nose tackle not in the league anymore so a lot of changes for the pittsburgh steelers no richard mendenhall no mike wallace the greatly diminished out of this offense [Applause] will begin their next drive from the 20. [Applause] steelers tie for the second largest deficit in the first quarter of any home game down by 27 to the eagles back in 1965 so of course this is one of the most stable of franchises that is dan rooney who uh most recently was uh the ambassador to ireland and just below him his son art the second and uh a lot of worrisome looks like the owner's at least at the outset tonight pittsburgh tries to get something started and jones picks up six yards felix jones out to the 26-yard line major right makes the stop we talked about richard mendenhall no longer being here already has more yards rushing than the steelers as a team but what he did was gave you a horizontal stretch on the defense he could get to the edge he could get outside and i think felix jones at the very least gives them a bit of that element as well le'veon bell who was supposed to be the lead back their second round draft pick this year still out with a an injured foot but at least felix jones has given him a little bit of that pop to the outside at the 26 on second and four stepping up away from the pressure it's antonio brown for a first down antonio gets run out of bounds at the 44 yard line major right on the blitz and finn got in the way for a gain of 18 yards ben roethlisberger as a starting quarterback at home when they face nfc teams 15 and one only lost about three years ago to the giants jonathan dwyer now comes in as the running back he was their leading rusher last year playing a spot roll now the wall of the 44. and it's caught by will johnson the full back and johnson is all he can do to pick up some yardage out to the 49 tackle there by briggs as we kick down to the final half minute of the quarter i asked todd haley give me a guy on this team that doesn't get any attention that deserves it right out of his mouth will johnson their full back a guy they sort of discovered out looking for at another player he said he's a good solid lead blocker and an excellent receiver coming out of the backfield that was a good catch second and [Applause] and look five and ben goes down dj williams comes blasting up the middle the longtime denver bronco first year with chicago one of the big acquisitions and comes blasting through the middle to take rockless burger down second sack of ben in the quarter which comes to an end with the score chicago 17 pittsburgh nothing and sunday night football resumes after these messages real coverage as you look at downtown pittsburgh pa brought to you by geico beautiful shot but not so beautiful on the field here at heinz field now michael's chris commons worth michelle tafoya and a shot taken by ben to his hand um [Applause] shaking it out as it comes to the line out of the shotgun here on third down and 14. [Applause] four-man rush this time ben gets protection slings it deep down field and it's caught inbounds inside the 20-yard line by antonio brown and they'll spot it at the 15-yard line exactly what the steelers needed at this moment well ben roethlisberger at it again here his pump fake is going to hold chris conte the safety and that's going to leave his wide receiver antonio brown wide open down the field he can move these safeties with that pump fake conti turns his hips and barely sneaks that one in longest play for the steelers this season 45 yards off a third and 14. felix jones the back he gets the ball felix jones will take it to the six yard line it'll be second down in short already the pittsburgh steelers have made a change up front they have kelvin beechum playing the right tackle position for marcus gilbert they've had a lot of issues with the tackles so far earlier in the season going no huddle here swinging to the outside and it does not fool one charles tillman who has seen it all in his 11 years in the league tackles emmanuel sanders for a loss of one maybe two it'll be third down let's call it third and four you gotta come this way to catch that ball yeah i mean you have nothing there if you're gonna you're gonna try and rub off and get a pick then you gotta use the big guy so gilbert on the sideline it's third down and four from the nine [Music] waffles staying in there then it's dropped by brown antonio brown drops it at the seven yard line so a golden chance after brown made that 45 yard reception to get it into the end zone instead they'll have to settle for a field goal attempt you know possibility of catching this one but pretty tough then really let him out there could only get one hand on it maybe a dive but i think he was well short of the first down and ben you can see the blood on that right hand i don't know if it's having an impact or not 27-yard attempt by sean sweesam [Applause] holds it gets it down and kick is good [Applause] early second quarter 17-3 chicago tomorrow night james spader stars in television's best new drama the black list of premieres tomorrow night at 10 eastern and pacific 9 central and mountain you'll see it after the voice right here on nbc well great protection for cutler and roethlisberger got protected on that series but they had to settle for a field goal from the two but that's great special teams coverage and then he puts the ball on the ground and pittsburgh is saying wait a second was he down he was down meanwhile jay cutler the protection he's been getting has been great this year 85 drop backs this year one soccer came last week against minnesota by jared allen it did create a touchdown but you go back through his years with chicago beginning in 2009 and you can see how often he has been sacked but this year protection's been great so they bottle up hester the ball spotted at the seven yard line as chicago begins this drive marshall goes in motion and forte already having a big night out to the 10-yard line well one of the big reasons the protection has been so good is jay cutler's getting rid of the football watch how quickly he's throwing this ball under three seconds every single time even if you have the greatest pass rushers in the world they're not going to get there in 1.74 seconds this is kurt warner like the way he's getting rid of the ball and you can tell it's a little frustrating because if you want to blitz the way pittsburgh wants to blitz and you don't have a chance to get there it starts changing your thinking second and eight from the nine four play action cover has to step up throws off balance to forte well he's a great safety valve to have isn't he to the 20-yard line tackled by timmons first down sometimes the most important part of a protection is what happens with the interior three right up here because if they stay solid you can run this guy by your quarterback watch cutler step up and around and dump that thing down to forte usually forte gets a little piece of somebody before he gets out of the backfield and has really helped this protection rushed for 70 and has 24 receiving yards tonight from the 19-yard line on first down the reaction again this time coming through is brett keisel the bearded one with the sack [Applause] [Music] [Applause] typically the pittsburgh steelers and their defensive ends don't get a lot of sacks because they're playing one first it's called a two-gap technique they're going to make sure they protect either side but keysel has done such a great job over the years of recognizing when it's passed when he can release and there's a guy that has been so valuable to the pittsburgh steelers over the year watched him last week i don't think he's lost the step second and 12. cutler swings it to the outside brandon marshall on the bubble screen with a 23 yard line so brandon marshall who began his career in denver when cutler was there and then wound up with the miami dolphins for a couple of years and then a big acquisition last year comes back to rejoin jay and comes off a career season yeah he was a steelers fan growing up said he can remember back in the days watching the steelers in the broncos an afc championship game and all of a sudden the next year got drafted by the broncos he had to change some of his paraphernalia grew up here as family here he got on the team bus yesterday from the airport his cousin's driving it third and section 23. [Applause] and cutler gets hit as he throws and it's incomplete as shamarco thomas the rookie from syracuse fourth round draft choice had a free shot at jay they call shamarco thomas headache that's a good nickname if you play defense everybody picks up a guy inside and headache comes right around the edge and jay cutler has to get rid of it [Applause] escapes the first man and then gets bottled up at the 41-yard line and the penalty marker is down get the call from pete morelli before we go to the break during the kick holding number 54 receiving team 10 yard penalty first down timeout 10 and a half to the half chicago by 14. royalty go back to the first families of football bears one of the original teams the hamas family george hales his daughter virginia and the family eight nfl championships one super bowl title of course that was mike ditka's group in 85 on the rooney family art senior dan his son or dan son six super bowls six of them and two of the first families and you think of the marriage in new york as well would be grouped within from the 25-yard line jones is strung out to the outside for a loss of two well one of the guys up front for the pittsburgh steelers david de castro has to sort of live with a tough moment this year uh marquis pouncey their all-star brilliant center and it was the castro who accidentally landed on the back of his knee and injured him and you could tell it still bothers him todd haley they're offensive coordinators saying i'm not sure he's gotten over it yet he's a guy that takes things to heart and basically they told him you got to let that go we have to go play here the cash is their top draft choice last year played at stamford berger dumps it down to jones 29-yard line well it was opening day here against tennessee and here is what happened when pouncey was lost for the season it's just so tough because you're always trying to go after the next guy and he was trying to cut one of the titans and shot his own guy and actually it was friendly fire that got him last year that led to the injury so many of those cut plays inside you know you worry about the defensive linemen sometimes they get their own so they picked up fernando velasco played at tennessee for a couple of seasons and brought him back last week and waltersburg city did a really good job and the pass is intercepted at the 37-yard line by major right and wright is inside the 10-yard line skirts the sideline touchdown you ever seen a team like the chicago bears and their ability to score points on the defensive side much major right he's just going to jump this thing they back out of their blitz and i think ben felt comfortable thinking it was a zone and all of a sudden major right comes out of center field i don't think he ever saw him and then look at the blocking the bears immediately turn to offensive players when they get a turnover and nobody sticks the thing in the end zone the way this football team does they're all looking for blocks there it is it's incredible well they're just reviewing that as a scoring play he was skirting the sideline on his way in they ruled a touchdown they're waiting for confirmation this is three straight seasons in which major wright has had a pick six if it stands is he out of bounds are in in we think definitely in there i think they're checking it out upstairs well usually you think of charles tillman tim jennings jennings already had a pick six earlier last week charles tillman i think had three a season ago for touchdowns jennings led the nfl in interceptions tillman led the nfl enforced fumbles these guys make a living on it touchdown confirmed of course that was the hallmark of the levy smith tenure and it has been perpetuated into the 2013 season by mel tucker the new defensive coordinator in his group gold's extra point is good and chicago leads by 21. nfl and all 32 teams are celebrating hispanic heritage month visit nfl.com hispanic heritage share the personal stories of hispanic players in the nfl return touchdown since old four and it's the lovely smith era plus the first two and a half games as the kick was in the air back at the where the bears would have been offside on the kick [Applause] call sheet starts looking a little thin doesn't it 24 different call shoot isn't it [Music] offside number 36 of the kicking team five yard penalty would be enforced from the 20 yard line first down so that moves it to the 25 yard line and that's where this drive will begin as we go back to the major right pick let's give a little credit to henry melton here is going to come up and around they do this stunt right here and as the tackle kelvin beacham comes off on the blitzer it just leaves it wide open in there for henry melton and ben had to get rid of the football before he wanted to so beltram now playing both tackle positions and you just wonder how much time he's actually spent over there with ramon foster well two touchdowns in 26 possessions this season six turnovers and a ton of three and jonathan dwyer is the running back as they begin this drive from the 25. [Applause] quick throw and that's brown making the catch and he's tackled here by charles tillman and they'll spot the ball just short of the first down second down in inches you know what's interesting to me is that the pittsburgh steelers when they did get their offense going last week against cincinnati it was in the hurry up it was in the two-minute offense they tried to accelerate the pace a little bit i just don't think the steelers are comfortable enough with their tackles to believe they're going to block these defensive ends of the bears second they want to look out and blasting through this time is bricks to take dwyer down so it's second in inches you figure you give it to the back shouldn't be much of a problem and briggs has other ideas it's a loss of almost five the castro pulls and briggs runs right by him i mean this is this has not been good lance briggs has taken over the play calling duties for brian urlacher he said i was so addicted to erlacker over the years he would call out the formations and basically tell us all what the play was and he said now that's my job and i think it's been good for him i think he's more of a student of the game and he's been making plays like that all season long third and five and rocklesberger has to take a timeout that play clock was all the way down well you hear the boos you go back to last season of course when the steelers started the year six and three roethlisberger got hurt they finished two and five they didn't make the playoffs talked about the fact they didn't win a pre-season game that really means nothing except for the fact that you know they're used to winning here you don't win in pre-season you lose your first two games you're down by 21 points in game three you're gonna fly to london this week because their next game is against minnesota sunday and mike tomlin wants to keep the schedule as close to regular as possible they won't even leave until thursday night get to london friday morning work out in london friday have a walk through saturday in the hotel go to wembley stadium sunday play minnesota fly back here apart from that oh we've got an island london buckingham palace well i guess not big ben get ready to go we won't get a chance to see big ben maybe from his back if this protection doesn't hold up a little better third and five from the 30. and roethlisberger look out from behind he spins away and then the passes incomplete he couldn't complete it even though he got out of trouble first with julius peppers coming in and almost getting him down but it's incomplete and they punt again now you can tell ben a little uncomfortable here comes julius peppers who yet to have a sack so far but you've got to believe the longer this game goes that the score stays anywhere close to this and then this contact made in a flaggish throne there'll be a penalty here even though he may have gotten a piece of it if he did the penalty would be waived off it's anthony walters who came in and made contact it was fourth down and five personal foul roughing the kicker number thirty seven that makes a goal unless he got a piece of it take a look here [Applause] nope nope he takes a pretty direct path you know he comes right up the middle and you really have to anticipate where that kicker is going to be not where he is and that is a huge shot right there that's a sort of the no-brainer what you saw it wasn't touched [Applause] [Music] and that is the major running into the kick running into the kicker was a five-yard penalty which would have made it very close to a first down but that's a whole other deal here automatic first on the personal foul the ball is at the 45-yard line halfway through the quarter [Applause] dwyer flanking [Music] out of the gun again pressure is on he gets away as he does so often he's close to crossing the line he hits emanuel sanders downfield at the 35-yard line so ben moving forward avoiding the sack and getting it off before he reached the line of scrimmage wow did that happen fast both these outside protectors david johnson on one side mike adams on the other and ben in survival mode a classic ben roethlisberger play that was just incredible he has done this so many times over the years but you just thought it was over on that play incredible play and just did get it off before he crossed the line of scrimmage the ball is at the 33-yard line first down [Applause] here is incomplete it's the ground intended for sanders second down ben is now 8-14 for 109. boy he really short-armed that throw i don't know if there's his hands bothering him or what but that thing did not come out of his hand the way that you typically see a ben roethlisberger throw i mean this is you know the free throws when you kind of short arm a little bit that's that's what that is also caught his left elbow on dwyer's back as he got it away second down and 10. touchdown pittsburgh again ben with that escape cocky came in ready for the sack ben gets away and a great catch well first of all great job that time by jonathan dwyer maybe he's going to be the guy that can put him over the top all the protection goes that way perfectly done ben stands in there and gives his guy a chance just give him a chance to make a play that's what receivers will tell quarterbacks all the time goes up over the smaller tim jennings brilliant sweden tacks on the extra point and it was six and a half to go in the hand now a two touchdown game 24 to 10 chicago anthony walters defensive back by trey but mainly a special teams guy almost got the block kick instead in domestic he goes that gives pittsburgh a first down and the next thing you know they're in the end zone to get back into the game at 24 to 10. at the 10-yard line brought back by joe anderson sunday night football brought to you by the brilliant minds and machines of ge by xfinity you're home for the most live sports by the all-new 2014 chevy silverado and by bud light official gear sponsor of the nfl this took place friday night monestan high school beat clarence and that andy clarton 66-game winning streak longest current streak in high school football congratulations to the guys from monessen clairton as well i mean you put together a 6016 streak pretty terrific good stuff from the 28. here's bush back in it you if walters had actually got deflected that and the officials didn't call it and then you wanted to challenge it and they could have won the challenge they couldn't challenge they're at it they're out of timeouts which means they're out of challenges a good first down play you know that the momentum starts to build you can feel it a little bit when they get a good first down play because now the playbook opens up for dick lebo here comes the dime defense here comes the possibility of stunts and here comes polamaller top of the screen he's going to back off in the past to the outside jeffrey drops it puts it on the ground at the 33 but recovers it william gay was there to knock it loose and then jeffrey falls on top of it so jeffrey a big part of the first series and quiet since then makes the catch for a short game you know this game was really kind of over if that punt just happens you know 24-3 you have the ball back and now listen you get the crowd back in this thing they know it's desperation time for the steelers and third down here it is a big third down right now for dick laveau loves brings the crowd right back into the game third down and five time out pittsburgh pittsburgh second team timeout and it's a keith butler the linebacker coach there and trustman comes out to try to get a word in with cutler you know one of the things we haven't talked much about is the fact that there's been a lot of changes on the pittsburgh steelers defense as well larry foote goes out and now keon wilson and vince williams essentially the play callers on a complex defense of dick lebeau jarvis jones another rookie in there as well you have steve mcclendon in there really first time starter so a lot of help being generated from the secondary ryan clark troy polamalu making a lot of help calls from the back end because of the lack of experience of keon wilson and vince williams two guys dick lebeau said i would have never believed both these guys would have even made our team won a rookie and the other has sparingly played in three years so there's lebeau let's see what he has dialed up on the third and he five buying time slings to the near side and complete intended for marshall and there's polomano coming all the way across the field to cover marshall on the flow fourth down now they came with something exotic you knew they would on third down come with a corner blitz here off the side but cutler does his best impersonation of ben roethlisberger and makes a great throw this is one that marshall just has to have [Music] [Applause] [Applause] short kick bounces at the 30 but takes a real real good chicago hop and roll for the 13 yard line four and a half to go that offensive line it's been an issue in pittsburgh for a while but it's not as if they haven't tried to rectify it mike adams second round pick foster was a free agent pouncey first round pick and ten decastro first round pick gilbert of course but now you got velasco in its center and most of those stars were with tennessee 102 combined stars fused of any offensive line in the nfl this season [Applause] now you've got beecher in right tackle with gilbert out again [Applause] felix jones flanks roethlisberger and they give it to jones and jones with a nine-yard burst off of the castro block into the second down and one you know it's interesting ben roethlisberger met with his offensive line this week they've been taking a lot of heat here in town and basically said you guys don't understand how good you are you're all high draft picks you have to start playing like you're the best player in high school the best player in college you've got to don't be afraid of getting penalties if you've got to choke somebody out in bed sports go for it out there show a little more dog on the field and so he's going to be starting to get a little that now second one and with room to the outside a burst by dwyer and dwyer the 47 yard line where he runs over kante and again to castro helping to spring them 25 yards there's a number one draft pick going out watch the castro here gets out on the edge uses his athleticism makes a big block and there goes jonathan dwyer who's really had a big role now in this comeback he is an excellent blocker let's see if it's this lower your head that is an interesting no call there when you size somebody up outside the tackle box that could have easily been pulled down field wire again and this time he gets stuck julius peppers is there to knock him down behind the line of scrimmage ticking down to three minutes remaining in the half [Applause] well great players know how to play with their hands and julius pepper is no exception watch him working on mike adams here just swats his hands away and makes the play in the backfield you have to be able to block better than that on a run play [Applause] second and 12. stay on the ground game of three dwyer [Applause] it'll be third and long pittsburgh has one timeout plus the two minute warning i think they're gonna let this thing go down to the two-minute warning why not you don't want to have to give it back [Applause] well they can because the game clock is about three seconds ahead of the the play clock so that's exactly what they're gonna do so they'll have two minutes to navigate 52 yards with one time out or at worse to get into position for a field goal two minute warning in pittsburgh 24 to 10 bears so the halftime coming up while andrew luck goes back and beats the 49ers today what about the giants and the redskins bob and heinz ward will break down the first half all coming up on the toyota halftime third down and nine two minutes to go in the first half and walkers burger hit as he throws in the passes incomplete in and out of the hands of marcus wheaton the rookie isaiah frye came in on the blitz and made contact as the ball was released anytime you have big lance briggs covering a wide out i guess you're going to take a shot at that one they've been trying to work in marcus wheaton the young rookie they like him an opportunity to make a play there couldn't make it and that will be taken at about the 29-yard line by chicago without a timeout 21-yard [Music] punt well you go back to the 1970 nfl draft when the steelers moved to the afc both teams 1 and 13 the year before steelers won a coin toss first pick and that turned out to be terry bradshaw how is that for a pick looks good too doesn't it right the full head air straight at the number two pick of the packers for cappy elijah pitts and bob highland well phil emery has done quite a job and he's a man who has uh his mission all set out in front of him the second year general manager for chicago this is 4k emery comes in he's been a long time scout in the scouting department in fact he was with chicago a number of years ago most recently with kansas city where he worked with scott pioli gets the job comes in lovey smith is the coach last year but then he's looking for a coach and it was very interesting he knew what he wanted he definitely wanted an offensive minded coach there was no question about it and it came down to trestman and bruce arians and daryl bevel who were the three finalists and it was it was the complete deal he had jay cutler come in and talk with all three coaching candidates at the end before the hiring of trustman second to nine fourteen and of course you know nostalgia takes a uh takes a recess and sentimentality in chicago when you let brian erlacker go he offered him a contract brian felt it was a low ball deal but hey everybody's going to move on yeah i just find it really interesting have you ever heard of a situation where the quarterback is brought in to interview the potential head coach it's a good idea if you're looking for an offensive guy you know when we heard about it a couple told us about it that's an interesting idea well we've seen a few sideline scenes where jay wasn't too happy maybe they just wanted to make sure he was happy and comfortable and you know when they involved him the relationship has been good from the start and obviously the way they've started the season is probably even better nothing wrong with thinking outside the box from time to time here goes forte without a timeout chicago will just run the clock down and go into the locker room but pittsburgh is going to take its final time out because it's fourth down and at least they'll have an opportunity for a punt return or a punt block pretty good football player right there and lauren stevens leads the team and interceptions and does it all antonio brown having a little fun with the official it was a big play he made in the back of the end zone wasn't it kind of just jump start this team boy they've just been void of offense to start you can barely recognize the steelers offensively when you put on the tape wow what's happening [Applause] is and oh nice break there because that's going to take the clock to zero it looked pretty good on his stat sheet in renegotiation time coming up next toyota halftime 2410 chicago first these messages from your nbc station hispanic heritage month thus the osos of chicago 24 the acerreros the pittsburgh 10. oh yeah in any language the monsters of the midway are up by two touchdowns in pittsburgh and of course in chicago now freshman comes in working with cutler we talked about it at the top elucidate i'm just glad i only have to say this is the burger king inside edge i can handle that part of it but a lot of things going on with mark tressman and coaching jay cutler wanting him to hold the ball a little bit higher you can see it here on the right hand side a little closer to that c on his chest held up and then drive that right shoulder through but i think the biggest trademark is the quickness with which jay cutler is getting rid of the football this year and not allowing that offensive line to look bad jay cutler will tell you something completely different he said the offensive line looks good there's the burger king inside edge and it looks pretty good right now well mark tressman made his mark as an assistant coach of the years on the offensive side obviously and he was a quarterback guru in fact when quarterbacks were coming out of college they would go to seek tressman who at that time was at north carolina state as an assistant coach one of the guys who came in was cuddler when he leaves vanderbilt and neither guy really remembered it there was nothing to that one yeah jay said i showed up it was a rainy day we couldn't go outside and throw so we just sat at a at a blackboard and neither guy really remember what happened but you know it's an interesting start to the relationship remember the first thing that tressman did with him went in and took him and showed him every sack every interception every fumble every negative play that jay cutler had this season ago now you and i have known jay and you know he's a little mellower now than what he was but i don't know that that's the best way to start that relationship but cutler took it he was involved in the decision to bring cressman in and it's been working and right now they're two and oh and of a touchdown halftime lead and pittsburgh gets the ball felix jones with the touch back and we go to michelle well in spite of being down two touchdowns mike tomlin was calm at halftime telling me we're not gonna put too much pressure on ourselves in this opening drive if this continues to be a football game and we can move the ball then we'll have our chances to get to jay cutler as for mark tressman he acknowledged the momentum swing after that roughing the kicker penalty he told me we've got to get the momentum back we will get it back and it starts with stopping the steelers on this first drive al all right thank you michelle and they'll start this ride from the 20-yard line roethlisberger is nine of 16 for 142 yards felix jones is the running back the action pepper's coming from behind and then a little shovel to felix jones so again van who is the master at escaping like charles bronson in the great escape a little seven yard shovel it'll be second down in three well julius peppers over here against mike adams and adam's really having a difficult time just slowing him down but stay with him through the entirety of that play and when ben steps up just gives him a chance you know so hard most quarterbacks should get an arm on him and they tend to go down ben that's not quite enough nothing like cultural references from 40 years ago okay felix jones losing the ball and chicago thinks they have it and they do so michelle talked about getting the momentum back and that gets the momentum back henry melton recovers it sometimes you take a hit and you never see it coming major wright just comes out of the blind spot in here and drills felix jones and the ball pops out i just don't think he saw it and if you're thinking helmet to helmet and all that kind of stuff doesn't apply inside the tackle box they're gonna let these plays happen but boy it just can't go a whole lot worse for the running game of the pittsburgh steelers this season second huge play for wright tonight who had a pick six earlier now the big forced fumble and of course they review every turnover get it confirmed and cutler ready to go to work from the 29-yard line [Applause] one of the things jay cutler and the bears wanted to do tonight was change up the rhythm of the game occasionally come up there and go no huddle go quickly do some hard counts see if they can make them show their blitzes really change the momentum back and forth forte 46 yard line gain of a couple here's the area in which that there is no such thing as that helmet the helmet sort of ruled by a running back or a tackler in that dark shaded area right there just outside that area but i don't think there was any sort of helmet to helmet shot looks like he put his helmet right on his shoulder there that's one of the problems that jones had in dallas and hit a huge sunday night opener a couple of years ago meanwhile you got matt forte flanked wide to the right cutler thrown to his left it's complete it's jeffrey he gets forced out of bounds it's just about the first down marker we're all showing jeffrey tonight that's six catches for 43 yards the best thing that could have happened to this offense tonight besides being up over the pittsburgh steelers is the fact that al-shawn jeffrey has become a big factor in this game they've got ike taylor guarding him over there so now brandon marshall martellus bennett matt forte who have really been carrying the load now defensively you're not exactly who you have to protect out there on both guys up to the same side here on the first and 10. [Applause] two big receivers and a little shovel from cutler and that is caught by martellus bennett and bennett fights his way to the 11 yard line breaking tackles along the way bennett a former cowboy and a former giant comes over in the off season tomlin is beside himself well you've got martellus bennett right here he is protection first that is what they're going to do with him but as they get closer to the red zone we've already seen this season more and more they're going to let him out because he has this sort of athleticism here's a big former basketball player we've told the story you know antonio gates those kinds of guys but they have the kind of athleticism you just flipping the ball like that all of a sudden your second is short but the game-winning touchdown in the waning seconds last week at soldier field now they give it to forte for short of the ten will be third down and one you know i really came into this game tonight feeling like the the whole story was going to be how those rookies held up on the right side for the chicago bears on the road for the first time trying to figure this whole thing out kyle long really an amazing story how far he's come to make it to the national football league started his career as a pitcher at fsu a 95 mile an hour fastball and left-handed bushes in total was almost offside they give it to the short yardage back and this is bush and he's going to be very close jarvis jones is there the head linesman comes in he's going to spot the ball short of the mark so it's going to be fourth down first time we've really had a chance to talk about jarvis jones their number one draft pick fulham was going to try and jump over the top and jay cutler adjusted his snap count a little bit but they love jarvis jones don't they meanwhile for trustmen here's the decision you make it's fourth down they're going to measure but they're going to be short so a field goal makes it a three possession game or do you try to go for what would be a kill shot touchdown here personally i take the field i would too you have a chance to go 17 up is three that's three possessions doesn't mean you can't go hard count here and then eventually go for the field goal but i wouldn't imagine you want to back it up five yards it looks like they're going they have the momentum back after the turnover then they give them a win back to pittsburgh if they don't make it let's see where they go with this yeah well they're going to line up to go for it anyway i think they go right i think they're going to go the play that worked for him in this situation before was that pittsburgh steelers power play with kyle long and jordan mills on the right side double-teaming and slauson coming [Applause] and you can tell with the body language that that's all they were going to do at that point delay of game off in [Applause] yeah you don't even have to take a timeout you're in chip shot field goal range anyway it's hardly going to matter for gold so marshall it looked like marshall was trying to call timeout for just a second but why why call the timeout there he is does he want to call timeout yeah he's calling she's trying to call timeout you know why he did because he was moving on the play and then when the second motion started they would have had to completely reset both guys to not get a penalty so he got a little jumpy not realizing they were going to take the five yards anyway and so the grin for cutler is at the state of the defensive line hey i knew you knew he was robbie gold a 32-yard attempt and that is good so that does make it a three possession lead for the chicago bears 27 to 10. now michael's chris collinsworth michelle defoyah heinz field pittsburgh pa on this sunday night one good thing we put the doppler radar away two of our three games thus far have had weather delays we had a little storm coming through here yesterday but nice night tonight a touch of fall on this first night of full temperature in the mid 50s and robbie gold to send it down toward jones [Applause] let's take a look at the three turnovers here and we're talking about 17 points it's one thing when your offense is struggling and you hold on to the ball but when you give it away and you're allowing 17 points on the defensive side like this one from major wright who's had a major factor on this game so far the interception for a touchdown forced that fumble it has been a rough night for the pittsburgh steelers offensively here [Applause] start with jonathan dwyer flanking roethlisberger on first down [Applause] mcguire stuffed at the line of scrimmage standoff fry comes in from his corner spot to stop him for no gain second and ten i'll tell you i give mel tucker the new defensive coordinator the bears a lot of credit he came over to this defense and they had an established system they were playing well and why change it so instead of making all the players learn a new language that he spoke he learned their language and allowed them to pick up and running right from the first day of camp and i think it really made a difference for the start of this season that they didn't have to learn that new system and much appreciated by the veterans that show the shake and then open to catch the pass and take it into chicago territory is david johnson the up full back so roethlisberger with that shoulder shake and pump and then he finds the open man for a gain of 32 yards well there's just nobody that does it like this here you see david johnson just going up the seam here and brian urlacher maybe in his day could get a little bit deeper than lance briggs did there but when ben roethlisberger starts going back and forth and looking around and pump faking tough to play defense [Applause] try to get it over the outstretched arm of corey wooten the fourth year guy from northwestern will be second at 10. well corey wooten's come in and he's sort of splitting time now with shea mcclellan on the other side but this is good protection you know really you can't ask any more from your offensive line than this mike adams gonna get a little help from jonathan dwyer on the outside but these are the kind of plays that seem to be going against pittsburgh tonight but they do have a little momentum on this drive and plenty of time you know they just need another play [Applause] sanders it's a block off the bubble screen and takes it to the 38 yard line jericho contrary with a good block there and they're going to spot it about a yard shy of a first down there we go now they use the pick the right way this time sanders is gonna loop back inside like he's supposed to do now watch the play work now you got something going somebody on the sideline some good coaching over there but de castro right inside that time able to pick up james anderson and let him go fueling shy of the first down [Applause] third and that much if you're tomlin here you can almost run it if you feel like it with the idea that you could do it again i think at this point in the game you're not going to be punting the football from the bears 38 and a half yard line 190 passing yards tonight on the other side cutler with only 90 yards through the air isaac redmond makes his first appearance in a running back spot comes up on the in the slot to the left and waltersburg is going to keep it himself and with a big body is able to rock his way for a first down you know who really came off the ball and that one's just fernando velasco coming in for marquis pouncey kind of an incredible story when you stop and think about it gets cut by the titans and comes over here with one week notice and fills in for marquis pouncey and really made one mental mistake in the game a week ago there's isaac redmond saying there you go ben give you a little hand at the 37. dwyer comes back in as the running back gets it swings to the outside breaks away from the tackle and is close to a first down tillman came up couldn't wrap him up and wire is close to the first down so jonathan dwyer fourth year guy out of georgia tech and again you go back to what they did in the draft drafting le'veon bell he will eventually they hope be their key guy and their key guy for a lot of years and they had redmond and felix jones and dwyer was kind of a lost guy even though he led the team in rushing last season yeah yeah he actually got cut this year and they brought him back that was a heck of a run right there yeah [Applause] first out of the 26 he gets it again for a yard yard and a half wooten making the tackle halfway through the third quarter there is bell the six one 244 pound rookie from michigan state working through a foot injury possibly could play in london next week then they have a bye week and you should definitely be ready by the week after that unless jonathan dwyer keeps running like this he's really had a nice game pass protection wise this team stepped up a notch when he came in the game big toss to the left but right there to make the play that's dj williams make two big plays early in the game a long time bronco coming to chicago now setting up a third and nine you know they have a lot of veteran guys now playing linebacker here you know they lose erlacker on the process but they pick up james anderson who was in carolina dj williams who was really suspended for much of the season a year ago with the denver broncos and they thought it would take him a little time to get up to speed i would say it took him three games to get up to speed he's been sharp tonight third and nine good protection and the pass is caught miller heath miller who's been in and out tonight and working him back into the lineup slowly after the knee surgery in the off season and that's going to make it fourth down and two and the crowd doesn't like the fact they're going to send in the field goal you know when you're down three scores you got to try to make it two scores in one manner or another yeah it's just too much time left in the ball game to not put points on the board here there's one thing if it's fourth and a foot or something right that's the right decision [Applause] 36-yard attempt by sean sweesam on a pretty windless night [Applause] which he did so it's back to a two possession 27-13 football being brought to you by nationwide insurance nationwide is on your side by 18t we think possible by bank of america and by audi truth and engineering [Music] party atmosphere here at the heinz field tonight for sports day in pittsburgh the pirates and the reds this afternoon in a big game won by cincinnati hispanic heritage month steelers tonight but maybe a big sports day at least in the morning as everybody anticipated a couple of wins and right now they're just trying to get one here uphill battle down by 14 points hester runs over to collect it and he's going to come out and devin hester and bring it back only to the 17-yard line with five and a half to go in the third christmas 57 years old some of his mentors howard schnellenberger starts him out when march at miami as an assistant and then jimmy johnson is the head coach he goes to minnesota bud grant is there he works with marty schottenheimer in cleveland back in 88 george seifert in san francisco with the then super bowl champions then he coaches montreal in the cfl for five years and talking to phil emery the general manager before the game he felt that that was hugely important before he hired trustman that he had the head coaching experience and not just as an assistant as cutler throws and the pass here is incomplete intended for bennett it'll be second down and 10. well we knew that he was going to get the math right on the score to kick the field goal because he was a bond trader for a couple of years right when he was out of football he was out of football he goes and he's running bond portfolio as an investment company wearing a coat and tie he does that for three years and his wife says you got to get back to football she says i love football more than you do so george seifert calls him after mike shanahan needs to go to denver mike have been the offensive coordinator in 94 in san francisco and that gets trusted back into the game and the passes caught up at the 25-yard line by al-shawn jeffrey tackled here by william gay it helps to know interest rates when you're working time management at the end of games yeah on how to save your money if you're a coach that's not a lifetime employment contract no he should have been doing moving van commercials [Music] [Applause] third and two [Music] [Applause] and he's hit as he throws and that pass is incomplete but there's a flag in the secondary up at the 41-yard line jason worlds came in forte needs some assistance off the field number 22 five yard penalty automatic on that first down and that's william gay with the penalty so instead of fourth down the penalty makes it first down but of concern now to chicago is the way forte comes off the field no question about the call a little slant and go on the outside and he's going to initiate the contact after five yards so that obviously a good call and a painful penalty against the pittsburgh steelers and then forte as jason worlds comes around the corner gets caught up in that traffic so bush comes into the game at running back and that's brandon marshall did a very nice job bottling him up tonight brandon marshall has caught four passes for a total of 11 yards mike taylor said he wanted to play against brandon marshall so this guy's like marshawn lynch of the seattle seahawks he's in beast mode all the time this is a huge guy and with the rules as they are now about contacting the receivers he said these big receivers that the bears have they don't even have to get open they can just get body position on you and he certainly is not afraid of a little contact down the field crowd still brewing officials called that's illegal two guys in motion they never got reset illegal shift offense the penalty is defined third down in that case the play is allowed to continue unlike a false start and of course they'll decline it meanwhile they're going to wrap up the foot of matt forte on the bench it's third down and 16 now cutler trying to escape and then the patch is incomplete intended for bush coming out of the backfield covered by walls and so a big stop for the pittsburgh steelers good recognition by jason worlds as the back sneaks out to this side had to be a little bit tempting to go ahead with the blitz because it looked like you were going to have michael bush block a lot of times guys make mistakes on that play but jason world stayed with his responsibility and it was important the punt brown is back there short kick fielded at the 42-yard line brown trying to get around the corner cannot run out and the flag comes in after the play well after the play run out by sharik mcmanus here's brown you can put your hand on the face mask but you can't grab it and turn it so if that's what the official saw and it may be that was a 34-yard punt 5-yard return and then morelli's call coming during the return face mask receiving team 15-yard penalty first down pittsburgh hits the wall with 15 yards farther back tylenol chicago why are we showing you that the national hockey league season starts in nine days tuesday night october 1st washington and chicago so the blackhawks the stanley cup champions opening at home a week from tuesday on the nbc sports network pittsburgh after the penalty starting from the 30-yard line rochester stepping up in the pocket and the open man is miller he's miller to the 47 of the bears so many times getting open in the national football league is not about beating a man it's about understanding zone coverages when you see heath miller there once he got into that little space slows down ben was able to look right there you talked to some of the chicago bear defenders and they said listen the most important thing that heath miller does for ben roethlisberger is when he's in trouble 83 is the first place he's looking that was a gain of 22. and he's out of bounds at the 21-yard line major right covering on the play that's a gain of 26. everybody wants to make a big hit when they see this quick screen coming out there that time basically two guys open down the field it's the responsibility of that guy on the outside generally to block but ben is so effective with these pump fakes he's been moving defensive backs all over the field tonight [Applause] steelers now at the 21-yard line two minutes to go in the third [Applause] blitz on and a one-handed grab is good for the touchdown antonio brown an amazing catch if he got his feet down here this is going to be absolutely remarkable possession one two i think you got it the knee is possible but i thought that foot was down first right that's the whole issue here possession one is the knee down before the foot is the question if the knee is on the strike and of course they're gonna look at this upstairs before they confirm it oh my goodness [Applause] i don't think there's enough there to be able to overturn that [Applause] already confirmed and the kick is good what a game antonio brown is having well all of a sudden it's a one touchdown 27-20. story in pittsburgh this week about a confrontation on the sideline last week in cincinnati brown upset about not getting the ball left here was todd haley the offensive coordinator with him after the touchdown a lot to talk about in regard to that play but a smiling brown has put pittsburgh right back into the game we'll have another look at the second devin hester ready or hopeful of return of man to the 21-yard line eric wiens and back we go to the touchdown old school pittsburgh steelers here this used to be heinz ward in short motion three on this side when they go to a single safety here that means one-on-one it used to be mike wallace out there now it's antonio brown and he's doing the same thing mike wallace used to do only that catch was as good as anything i have seen in a big moment that is fantastic barely the toe barely beats the knee down good call by the officials game on perfect goal forte is back in the game crowd in full voice right now and cutwork stepping away dumps it to 4k but hold the tackle immediately at the line of scrimmage second and ten more and more now we're seeing that jay cutler is looking to those checkdowns a little quicker the pressure isn't always becoming a sack but it's forcing jay to move around he is early in the game been able to stand in one spot read the defense and make a throw more and more we're seeing those kind of jump shot kind of throws to the check downs and that plays right into the pittsburgh steelers defense and that's reflected in the fact cutler's averaging less than four yards per pass 17 of 25 from 98 yards big hole for fortes runs over people including william gay who we ran over earlier takes it to the 30 it'll be third down and one [Applause] right here is going to seal this thing off roberto garza inside able to handle the nose tackle fiona helped a bit with the nose and then got up on the next level but third and one is huge right now [Applause] 33 seconds left in the corner they bring michael bush in as the tailback behind fiametta and cutler is going to take a timeout with the play clock down to three before a very big play so as this one winds down in pittsburgh we go south next week where tom brady and the undefeated patriots the tampa bay today 3-0 against matt ryan and the atlanta falcons upset today by miami there is a look at the winning percentages of the two guys brady and ryan it all begins at seven eastern time with football night in america starting to feel like pittsburgh steelers football again around here doesn't it for the first time now the steelers faithful starting to feel a little hope in this building [Applause] this would probably be a troy polamalu jump over the pile kind of moment if you ever had one of those he loves trying to time the snap count on these short yardage situations [Applause] third and one play action for cutler and he's going to go deep into double coverage intended for marshall and broken up clark and taylor were there so fourth and one and they go deep and now they'll punt again [Applause] [Music] one of the things that happened is on the outside troy polamalo took out the underneath coverage just decked the fullback via meta and so there was only one place to throw the ball and that was jump ball down to brandon marshall there was right there [Applause] bob loses kick brown falls to the fair catch makes it at the 23-yard line and rochester on the offense will go to work with nine seconds remaining in the third quarter no give pittsburgh credit there hasn't been an ounce of panic about this team i've never seen any sort of yelling or screaming on the sidelines sometimes you're down was it 24-3 i believe and all of a sudden things start getting uncomfortable over there but my goodness how that roughing the punter penalty has changed this football game gigantic steelers asking the crowd to uh let him call the signals and there was anthony walters who was the man who was flagged for roughing the kicker [Applause] intended for david johnson who really had a 32-yard reception and big ben goes down you know one of the problems that ben has is when he holds on to that ball sometimes he gets hit in odd positions that time sort of a late shot looks like he may have twisted that left leg just a bit comes off late looks like james anderson gets him and twists him a bit as it goes down five seconds left in the quarter [Applause] that's coming hooked up and that opens it up for david johnson his second big reception takes it to the 40 and that's the way the third quarter climaxes 27-20 and sunday night football and tonight's aerial coverage from pittsburgh pa being brought to you by beautiful geico downtown pittsburgh allegheny monongahela forming the ohio on the sunday night al michaels with chris collinsworth and michelle tafoya the pittsburgh steelers very much back in the game down by seven have it at the 41 yard line as we start the final quarter wire [Applause] well the pump fake's becoming a bigger and bigger factor now as this game goes along ben roethlisberger early on really moved to safety chris conte out of the middle of the field ends up going deep to antonio brown for a big play there but it hasn't just been that you'll see i don't know how he holds on to some of these his hand is just huge but when he does it you see the entire defense and the move protection he gets the more he can use that technique second to nine and waffles burger over the middle and it's caught inside the 40-yard line by antonio brown who's really having a monster night right now antonio brown for a gain of 21 has now gained 147 yards through the year brown's brilliant but the reason he's getting it off this guy right here jonathan dwyer's had a huge impact on this game that's a tough block lance briggs comes free gets just enough of them to give ben time to get the gun down the field to antonio brown [Applause] a couple of yards after the initial contact game of two second and eighth wasn't it jonathan dwyer who came in and had the big game against cincinnati i think last year at over 127 yards on a monday night game i believe one of our games there you go there you go and uh you know this is a guy though that running backs first and foremost have to be able to keep their quarterback upright and it's something that everybody loves the scat backs and the quick runners and all that stuff quarterbacks love guys like jonathan dwyer well tillman comes out of the game he went to the sideline zach goldman comes in then he's going to keep it and then lose it and then recover it himself as he gets to the 30-yard line [Applause] that would have definitely been a fumble because he was past the line of scrimmage anyway well we saw tillman come out and he was probable coming into tonight's game he missing practice time this week now another bear is hurt so we can figure out who this is there's been wooten was chasing him and it's melton who is down he is the injured chicago bear so they've got tillman out of the game at the moment melton is down and there is tillman injury timeout back after this well that's the scene with henry melton as the injured chicago bears come back and take a look at what happened here he just tried to step around julius peppers didn't i think didn't want to step on somebody's foot and put his knee in a tough spot that's really too bad he's been a good player pro bowl player a season ago he's had six seven sacks the last couple of years former running back played he was behind jamal charles scored about 20 touchdowns as a running back in texas they move him inside rod marinelli took about two or three snaps of a look at him and he said my friend you have found your position out here visited with him this week and it's always tough three technique pass rusher such a significant part of this 4-3 defense nate collins now who's looked good he's played well this year will come in and try to fill the void lining up between the offensive guard and tackle and now you've got collins who's the fourth year guy played at jacksonville went to school virginia and we talked about tillman and now there he is on the bench with some practice time this week he's come out so you've got zach bowman in there you got melton going back to the locker room and nate collins in the game and a big third down in three coming up or long two at the 30-yard line isaac redmond is in the backfield next to roethlisberger big assignment isaiah fry on the slot against antonio brown and that's caught and can he get the first down as contrary spins and may have gotten it with that second effort and does so country was stopped a little short of the first down and then was able to spin around and move the chains good job by cautry on the outside but watch david de castro hustle down the field and basically pushes wide receiver for a first down he's just going to give him enough of a push on the tail end of this thing i don't think he has it right here [Applause] castro hustles before he hits the ground there you go [Applause] well henry melton with that left knee he is out for the rest of the night obviously they've taken him back now for charles tillman we've seen him on the sidelines i'm told by the bears that he's simply stretching that he is expected to come back in and that there's no injury news for tillman so sadly melton who missed so much of the preseason out with that concussion out for the night right thank you michelle and tillman even though it might not be anything really significant at least for the moment he needs some some time second and ten [Applause] and wire can't escape stopped at the 26 yard line and that's going to make it third down and 10. i still think they have some possibilities the bears are doing a nice job of disguising their coverage and making it look like they're double teaming antonio brown down here at the bottom but they really aren't they are going back to that single safety look so if they want another one on one shot unless they adjust from here they've got it to brown [Applause] jostled as he throws and the passes incomplete that was lance briggs blitzing on the play it'll be fourth down that time lance briggs able to take advantage of jonathan dwyer to get just enough because that was going to be a first down to antonio brown got exactly what we thought they were going to get and just enough of the elbow they can throw it in the dirt squeeze them now this will be a 44-yard attempt to make it a four-point game mesco is the holder [Applause] and sweesom's kick perfect then 38 left in the fourth pittsburgh climbing back down by four sunday night football brought to you by wendy's by toyota by windows and by walmart where layaway is free with no opening fee well the roberto clemente museum pittsburgh items donated by the clementi family one of the great great great players of all time dying tragically in a new year's eve plane crash in 1972 on a mercy mission to help earthquake victims in nicaragua there is pnc park of course roberto played at forest field in a three-river stadium phenomenal player speaking of i haven't seen a lot out of devin hester tonight have we yeah and then you still won't because it's taken at the 12 yard line and this is joe anderson who's gonna run it back out to the 26-yard line bears led 24-3 at one point you had that block punt that turned or the the personal foul on the punt running into the kicker roughing him in the largest deficit overcoming a win 21 points the bear's largest league given up and lost 21 points 24-3 chicago is going to get the ball back wonky's just missed personal foul roughing the kicker and then pittsburgh was able to capitalize and get a touchdown i want to correct one thing i think when i did the promo before atlanta miami i said atlanta was upset by miami they were not upset i have a certain demographic that holds me to a very high standard and i just want them to know i misspoke atlanta was not upset today and you know what i mean your people [Applause] you're a student i'm with you gang i hear you i'll tell you the steelers defense has really taken over this game though the yardage numbers are really one-sided in pittsburgh's favor now and the possession is now almost dead even and that forte will go nowhere just winning the battle up front ziggy hood and keisel and mclendon are doing what casey hampton and the guys used to do they're just winning right up here no chance and now here comes some nasty blitz five of these guys lurking around are going to be blitzing here's job trying to figure out which five cutler in a run and he's going to get the first down and then bangs in to the defender robert golden [Applause] goldman can't stop him until cutler rushes for 12 yards to move the change they come off this side with the blitz and cutler steps up and through and i'm going to tell you what you want to get respect as a quarterback in a situation like this you lower your shoulder you take a shot everybody's talking about quarterbacks going out of bounds and try and maintain your health in that situation you go get it and that's what jay cutler did and lower your throwing shoulder as well the ball at the 39-yard line and forte will be taken down that's william gay coming through to knock him down for a loss of three i don't think robert golden could believe what jay cutler did looked like he was about to slide instead he lowers his head he had the first down anyway but if he had tried to slide it would have been close because it's where the slide is initiated love that play out of jay cutler and i can just tell you quarterbacks walk back in the room after that film session a whole different level of respect dumps it off into traffic and the pass is incomplete lamar woodley helped to break that play up third and 12. [Applause] mar woodley here almost got around the rookie jordan mills on this one and maybe more importantly woodley almost creates the first turnover here the pittsburgh steelers this year still without a turnover almost unbelievable the way these turnovers have fallen off over the last couple years for the steelers third and throw polo comes in on the blitz it's picked up deep down field turning around at the 22-yard line brandon marshall to make the catch a huge play got positioned on like taylor to the outside off his back shoulder and marshall needs a little time here yeah here's old beast mode right out there ike taylor knew what he was getting into pretty solid coverage but he just couldn't get his head around perfect back shoulder throw rebound position brandon marshall when they needed it most 41 yards he comes out for the moment the thanks to the outsiders bennett and he'll be taken out of bounds at the 18-yard line one thing we've seen out of the chicago bears martellus bennett does a lot of blocking when they're in the middle of the field they get down to the red zone like he did last week when he made the game-changing catch at the end to win that one like he did against cincinnati and the opener a brilliant catch in the back of the end zone this guy has made a huge difference for the chicago bears in the red zone marshall back in the game until that catch he caught four for 11 yards and then jarvis jones coming off the edge there and doing what he did earlier just finding a way to kind of sneak in there you know so many times to get the kind of player they wanted outside linebacker for the steelers they have to try and convert defensive ends in college to outside linebackers this guy was an outside linebacker at georgia and got a lot of coaching down there at the nfl kind of level in that defense very big third and five steelers trying to limit them to a field goal to keep it as a one possession game and cutler going to the corner and it is out of bounds for earl bennett earl bennett not in bounds as he hauls it in and then comes the field goal unit looks like he got at least one foot down a little grab there on the tail end by marco whoa that's interesting wins possession possession one foot i think there might be a case there yeah yeah well it's worth it's worth a challenge and that's what freshman is going to do it's worth another look it's i think that's a touchdown well we'll take a look i thought it was inconclusive on that but worth a challenge challenging the ruling on the field of the previous play that the receiver had with both feet inbounds and the catch timeout where possession takes place so morelli goes under the hood for a huge call [Music] this is about as close as it's going to get it's ruled out of bounds on the field moreli see enough here with possession and both feet in to overturn it here we go catch possession i don't see a bobble second foot is going to fly a little grass off the back end my question is from the angles we have we can't see possession throughout the course of the catch we don't know if this thing moves at all as he goes to the ground is that enough to not allow a touchdown and a reversal i'm just not sure no that is the issue too there's no question morelli's got to decide does he have that position at first and does he get both feet in that angle looks like he doesn't get the second foot down but the other angle you can clearly see some turf flying and remember they can piece together these replays this one right here if you watch the back foot you'll see the dirt kick up right on the back side of that thing right there here comes the call after reviewing the play the receiver had had control and two feet down it is a touchdown so the old vanderbilt connection cutler to bennett he beats demarco thomas tressman wins the challenge and it's a two possession game again this may be the best wide receiver play i've seen in one of our sunday night games since i've come on here we have seen unbelievable catches footwork one-handed it's been brilliant it's been absolutely a joy to watch josh mccown the back up quarterback with the bear hug for bennett gold's extra point is good we have 5 48 left in regulation and the bears are up by 11. fighting irish coming off their win yesterday against michigan state back home against oklahoma oklahoma 14th in the country notre dame 22nd that's coming away on nbc this coming saturday afternoon from south bend at 3 30 eastern time here's your influence the three rivers and the defense back on the bench after that sensational catch by bennett a bouncing wall is fielded at the one yard line and this is jones felix jones back out to the 25 yard line it's 5 44 remaining and back we go to the last drive as great as these catches have been this play to me has been the difference jay cutler setting the tone his offense was struggling he escapes the pocket and lowers his shoulder brandon marshall turns around and makes a play [Applause] so cutler who was under 100 yards until then 61 yards on the drive all of those plays on that last drive coming on third down and now roethlisberger throws and it's caught and it's running back dwyer that's a gain of nine through the 34-yard line collins hit roethlisberger that time was taking melton's place and got a big-time shot on roethlisberger only a handful of quarterbacks getting up from that one and not only getting up but running no huddle here is to go hurry up and pick up the first down with jonathan dwyer taking the ball for a gain of two nate collins a little spin move on to castro you're not allowed to plant your full body weight on them but i know and roethlisberger almost as big as nate collins inside five minutes [Applause] and he's hit again as he throws but this time gets it away and it's in the chicago territory caught by antonio brown so another shot taken steven pyre that time hitting rockless burger but he picks up for 16 yards lance briggs reacts up to the back underneath and it was a mistake when he did it allowed roethlisberger to get it just over his head watch here he's going to see dwyer come out he's going to take two steps up and that was just enough for roethlisberger to get it in over his head 163 receiving yards tonight for brown and seven catchers the ball comes loose again peppers comes up with it julius peppers with an escort to the end zone touchdown it's hard to outscore the bears defense and it is their offense four turnovers lance briggs forcing the fumble and peppers goes in for the touchdown there you go right up the gut this time i think it's isaac redmon who tried to pick him up couldn't get enough of them been a little loose with the ball again and here you go so two touchdowns on the defensive side is going to end up being the difference in this ball game 42-yard return four turnovers now for pittsburgh they've been killers and for peppers he had three touchdowns as a carolina panther and that's his first as a chicago bear ben is almost gonna have to work a little bit on keeping that second hand on the ball the pump fakes are great but when it means you're trying to scramble inside the pocket with only one hand on the ball bad things happen and that's blocked but uh barely of relevance here yes sir [Music] 357 remaining in the fourth chicago 40 pittsburgh 23. in a nutshell the only caption you need when you look at that four turnovers and chicago with 23 of its 40 points off those four basically a push tonight for the steelers offensively they've scored 23 and eight undefeated teams coming into the weekend and that's the way it's going to look with the bears holding on here for the seahawks and chiefs and saints and patriots dolphins broncos and the bears meanwhile the chicago bears now in very good shape in their division three-and-oh and you've got the pittsburgh steelers really in dire straits right now it's early in the season but you have two two-in-one teams in the division right now but two games out of first place and and the good news is if you're looking for it the steelers offensively despite the mistakes look better tonight than they have and roethlisberger throws and contrary makes the connection it's a gain of 23 out to the 43-yard line [Music] [Applause] the afc north you've got cincinnati now two and one with their win over green bay today baltimore seems to have gotten it together they beat the texans so they'll be two and one and the steelers on the verge will drop into nothing in three 48 david paulson makes the catch here's michelle well an update on charles tillman the bears have told me that if they needed him to come back into this game he could but he's being bothered by a groin right now he's been stretching it out and because of the lead they're going to let him rest the rest of the night wise choice second and four zach bowman is in there meanwhile there goes ben going down again but he gets the pass away to emanuel sanders on the second and four corey wooten got to the quarterback that time it's a first down gain of 10. taking another hit on the tail end of this one give the guy credit pretty amazing just flat footed looks at the last second and get that ball in there but he is going to have a little trouble getting out of bed tomorrow morning they haven't always sacked him but they have gotten plenty of hits on them [Applause] you got a flag thrown as jonathan dwyer makes the catch holding holding number 73 offense 10 yard penalty remains first down ramon foster well the bears will go to detroit next week then they have back-to-back home games against new orleans and the giants it would behoove them to build up early currency when you look at their schedule down the line four of their last six games or road games i'd say 3-0 is a little currency it's a little currency that's what's upcoming for them and the season will end in soldier field against green bay from the 48. [Applause] and walkersburger fires deep downfield that's caught that's brown to the 26 yard line and for brown a total now of eight catches for 190 yards and two touchdowns that's good for 27. you talking about filling in the role of mike wallace he was not a happy camper on the sideline apparently last week although i talked to todd haley and he said oh it's nothing it just happens every week a guy's unhappy you're not throwing the ball and you know everything especially with todd you know we've seen a few incidents with him over the years but this has been one big breakout night for antonio brown and it's so key in those three by one sets by the steelers if they leave somebody one on one on the back side of that and he is now the one it is tough to play this football team and right now antonio brown is proving worthy of that position of all the crazy numbers and they're always crazy numbers in the game the craziest might be ben roethlisberger tonight has thrown for 400 yards from the 25. his three was down by 17 and that is not caught leaping fort emanuel sanders second to ten you know i can't get the jay cutler play out of my head though remember the playoff game a few years back where people questioned whether or not he could have come back in the game or not and questioned his toughness and all that this is a different jay cutler on a lot of levels out here he's becoming the team leader and just takes out the steelers safety when the game was on the line chris cockey coming over to brown and getting there simultaneously with the ball to bust it up it's third down i don't think there's any question conte made the catch did his feet get down well if that knee hit the ground that might be an interception the old john madden buck was at one knee equals two feet something like that let's see if the knee hits down because clean catch looks like the foot may have come down first out of bounds [Applause] third and 10. [Applause] dancing away fine time pass incomplete paulson the intended receiver lance briggs was there and that's going to make it fourth and ten last gasp coming up for pittsburgh i wonder what's going through mike tomlin's mind at this point right now this is a guy that has never been two games under 500 right correct getting ready to go three games under seventh year he's as you look at the dan rooney and art rooney second lower left tomlin coaching in his 99th regular season game 63 and he loses this 36 losses and here is brown coming close to a 200-yard knight taking it to the 19 but on a fourth and 10 ain't good enough [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so with 2 20 to go chicago will take over game in which the third loss occurred you go back under mike in the last five seasons well into the season except for last year when they struggled early got hot in the middle and then injuries just did him in at the end two home losses now too which doesn't help to cause any and chicago can pretty much run it out even though pittsburgh can stop the clock twice and you're going to have the stoppage of the two minute warning michael bush if he gets it he'll take it to the 21-yard line tillman and pepper is going over some stuff on the sideline so many veteran players on that defensive side of the ball of course tillman mr punch out all the forced fumbles that he gets and tim jennings on the other came up side tonight two-minute warning chicago two minutes away from going to three and seven big one in atlanta next week on our post-game report michelle with the star of the game bob toney and mike take a further look at this one and what's happening around the league and uh chris and i will look ahead to new england at atlanta second down at eight now for yard line the third down and pittsburgh will take a timeout well mark trestman you know when you look at tressman years ago and you got a lot of bears fans here because most of the steeler fans are in the parking lot at the moment but freshman about 20 years ago was one of the very hot young assistant coaches in the league and everybody said you know this guy is going to be the head coach someday and then all of a sudden the time just went on and he kept moving around and was out of it for three years as we said went into you know bond trading george seifert brought him back to san francisco he was in oakland he was actually on the oakland staff when they went to the super bowl and lost to tampa bay and then he sort of disappeared nobody said what happened to mark trashman well he was up in montreal and then we talked about phil emery before emery said i looked at this guy i looked at him closely and i thought he would be the best fit but it is odd chris when you see a guy who you know all of a sudden hey here's the new hot young assistant coach and then whatever happened to him and then he becomes the coach of the chicago bears at age 57. but to some extent doesn't he feel like a good fit with jake cutler because jay cutler you know he's emotional guy and we've seen everything before and trespass is a bond trader you know he just looks straight ahead he's a teacher he's putting together a game plan he's keeping him from getting hit too often and the relationship with wins is growing rapidly now and you think about it he took over it's a good team i mean lovey smith had a good deal of success took him to one super bowl and love his team last year don't forget ten and six they were seven and one at one point then injuries helped to do them in but phil emery just felt hey look we just needed to get the offense better basically yeah and tressman was the first to admit it he said i walked into an unbelievable situation this was a good team that was well coached all you had to do was just put in your system and they were ready to go down to the 26-yard line a little special teams fun right there [Applause] well the steelers we talked about they're going to go to london late normally when teams play over there they go there and a few days in advance and practice over there to get acclimated to the time change but not mike he he's going to take them over thursday night they're going to land on friday we talked about this earlier practice on friday after they get off the plane do a walk through the hotel won't even see wembley stadium until they get there on sunday and play the game and come back home and of course on the other side of it is a bye week and the officer fires and that's going to be picked off and chris cocky who almost had a pick earlier and then you've got a flag coming in because you saw what brown did at the end of that play and you know what that's going to be penalty in a fine turnovers galore turnovers cost the personal foul unnecessary roughness number 84 the passing team 15-yard penalty first down so that's five turnovers you know one of the other things is the steelers are always used to playing with a lead which creates opportunities defensively because offenses have to push a little bit when you're constantly playing behind those turnover opportunities don't present themselves in the same kind of way this was just an air mail shot from roethlisberger really had no chance from the beginning receiver turned out i think ben thought he was going down the seam and a gift for chris conte minute and a half and a couple of kneel downs are going to do it the bears are definitely getting interesting though you've got to believe with mel tucker their defense is going to keep improving as they get more acclimated in his system offensively you can already see the improvement the offensive line the young right side played well tonight interesting team well we know a lot of rabid bears fans i'll tell you who's as rabbit as any bears fan i know doc rivers your old partner right now the coach of the clippers and of course comes from the celtics and grew up in chicago and loves loves loves love the bears i told that the trashman last night i'd love to meet doc someday he plays golf with him make sure he keeps his head low oh that's going to do it the bears who took a huge early lead that appeared to be in jeopardy and then but turnovers do it at the end and it wraps it up and it was a killer for the pittsburgh steelers who head to england merry old england not so murray for the pittsburgh steelers nor for the minnesota vikings who they'll face next week coming up next it's the wendy's post game reported after his words
