2011 Week 6 - Rams @ Packers

a beautiful fall afternoon here in Green Bay temperature in the mid 50's cloudy the wind may be an issue kicking up and the Packers in those circa 1920 uniforms back whenever they acne packers and getting ready to take on the Rams some of the key inactives today [Music] Mike Simms Walker who had been a starting receiver to the bench remember the Rams also put Danny Amendola on the injured reserve since their fight we could chat click delete veteran offensive lineman out for the next two to three weeks not on injured reserve and in his spot Marshall Newhouse The Linde will start at left tackle man I love this city huh can you just feel it the Rams have won the toss elected to receive things are happening here at Lambeau Field it's Quinn Porter in the end zone and the RAM offense will take over on the 20-yard line only 46 points in the four games they've played but there's always hope when you have a quarterback like Sam Brent well you can make all the throws they have to protect it though that goes for the running backs as well Steven Jackson's got to be better in pass protection the receivers have to make plays and catch the ball for Sam Bradford and then up front I think the big key is getting Jacob belt back he should be a big shot in the arm for these guys offensive ly they gave up seven sacks versus the Redskins two weeks ago that has to get better stephen jackson brexit actively gets into the 25-yard line desmond fish have made the stop from his linebacker spot in the Green Bay defense an excellent second half last week in the win over West and that group right there is outstanding when you talk about these down free they really set the edge in terms of the run game at the point of attack linebackers does it after its Clay Matthews only one sack and then back in the secondary they have not played great but they are very very good on the islands at the corner Jackson is a receiver splits out on the right side not second down bradford passes completed and for a first down up there the 39 yard one bring Salas the rookie receiver offense number 76 repeat second down that's on Roger Southold who's trying to block Erik Walden who's coming around the corner and here's Saffold here Walden around the corner just got the hands out wide and then just hooks them from the via the neck scuse me cuz I do like the fact that st. comes to all that it's the pressure of a real game with the youth on this football team it really forces those errors pressure picked up Bradford has to get rid of it he goes down a pile of beggar's talked about when he comes in with that pad level on that velocity and ends up getting on an edge of one of those bigger slower offensive linemen they almost have no chance Chris to block it and Rogers Saffold the injured Ram player down at the 44 yard line and Clay Matthews senior we talked about the former player himself proud of what his southern rail arm as well great great player almost three decades done so the Atlanta Falcons and he did everything he didn't just write a lot like play junior here cuz Clay's not just a guy as we've chronicled today that just rushes the passer he drops he covers he you know he'll wreck stuff he'll clean stuff up as a secondary guy and Kevin Green has coached him up in all phases of that game but that's how his dad was and I know his dad have agreed who is a kind of a psycho linebacker that's a compliment and of course pass rusher himself but he did the whole Cobra strike thing right he's got his guys oh no he he wants to play the physical card for sure but just finishing up on on clay senior and a lot like Kevin Green look Kevin Green rushes the passer all the time if if Clay Matthews senior would have done that all the time I promise you his sack numbers would be through the roof maybe the best ever he was a great pass rusher he just didn't do enough of it Saffold thing helped off the field in a tough afternoon for the Rams mentally physically on the scoreboard and in the one loss column but play Matthews along with his Packer defense they also forced a big hole too early in this game [Applause] they got the stop on fourth down Packers taking over stars just kept the four-minute mark and Aaron Rodgers you know things have calmed down at the second half but Mike McCarthy usually the quarterback is the face of the team anyway but he he made it a point said we want to put him out there and represent our franchise Aaron is that kind of guy not only what he does in the game but away from the game as well yeah well Manning when he's on a roll when you go up against Aaron Rodgers that's our that's how we might describe we're gonna take the feeble attempt at all the things that Aaron Rodgers does and we've seen a lot of that on display today well and he's like an offensive coordinator or a play caller like Mike McCarthy is offensive coach there and the head coach is these these guys see a look from the sideline it from the booth they know right away where the mismatch is a lot of times quarterbacks don't see it they don't exploit it the good ones the Peyton Manning's the Tom Brady's the Aaron Rodgers they see it like to coach a coordinator and every time he throws his dices powerless here ever been a scene Jennings on the receiving end and another set of downs for the Packers and that's a perfect example of what I was just talking about a coach is looking at that look and seeing the defensive coverage and going on Greg Jennings is the hot he's the guy we got to get it to here Mike saw it pre-snap they said a lot of quarterbacks for one reason or the other because it's so hard to do they don't see it and they miss and Rodgers doesn't miss Mike McCarthy Hitler on the same page I think they've been a top-ten offense ever since my birthday is James Starks carries streets for the party at home Brandon Brett Farve he's gonna have a street named after him he's almost embarrassed about that a guy from Pittsburgh coming a long way Aaron Rogers with 17 touchdown passes was tied with Tom Brady coming in in our game of the week America's game of the week the Fox coming up second half of the doubleheader you'll see Tom Brady go against the Cowboys and see if he can catch up to Aaron Rodgers the touchdown pass leader in the NFL boy Tom to Wes Welker has looked virtually unstoppable he doesn't have the receiver core or the Arsenal or the weaponry that Aaron Rodgers has he's got good players those two tight ends are outstanding but Wes Welker is his security blanket and haven't said that that's really what Sam Bradford misses I think offensively for the st. Louis Rams without his security blanket Chris and Danny Amendola now for the year maybe C for a lot of the Rams spoilers start scary's again it was against Atlanta 12 different receivers which equaled a team record seven different receivers for Aaron Rodgers today it's been a lot of fun coming to Lambeau yet I always root for competitive Gabe but watching the Packers and Aaron Rodgers is he just broke down I mean this is a team you just won during the Super Bowl the unbeaten record right now who's gonna get in their way who could slow him down well if the Detroit Lions obviously they've got to go play at San Diego I believe they got to go play at the New York Giants so there's some tough spots in terms of this team still going on the road the offense in the passing game I don't know how many people are gonna really stop it unless you can get real consistent pressure on Aaron Rodgers we haven't seen that for a good portion of the year and then defensively they've got to get something shored up though they for sure have to get something shored up they are not the same defense that they were last year they were not a bank but don't break defense last year that's certainly been their mo for us this season interchangeable parts as stops cars for a first down I mean they had so many different injuries last year in players that were out an offensive defense remember drew Michael Finley was out of the picture Ryan grant and those guys are back I don't know if he can out score Green Bay right now the Lions you mentioned they're trailing at home to the 49ers by two in the fourth quarter the Packers don't play the Lions until Thanksgiving and then they play at the regular season finale we've hit the 2-minute mark here in the fourth quarter the Packers by 21 [Music] Tim Wright Chris Byers Packers in their rapid upload against the Rams ready to go to six oh no the ribs off the bye week to fall to oh and five the Rams will play at Dallas and then home with New Orleans meanwhile the Packers aren't going to be home for almost a month Tim they're at Minnesota they have an open date at San Diego and then home November 14th against the Vikings bonus coverage coming up here we'll take you to whatever game is hot in happening the Lions and 49ers in a wild one the Eagles are leading the Redskins the schedule makers were brutal to the st.
