ten years ago today 19 terrorists hijacked four airplanes and in an instant 2977 innocent victims lost their lives to all who sacrificed that day from ground zero to the Pentagon to the heroic passengers on flight 93 in Shanksville Pennsylvania the NFL remembers on this anniversary we honor those brave men and women by continuing to show our unity and strength as a country as we pay tribute to their memory [Music] [Music] [Applause] oh say can you see [Applause] well [Applause] [Music] [Applause] let's go [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] well [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] seventy-five degrees here in Chicago down to the field and Tony Circus Circus thanks Jenny you know two big question marks today for me it's the offensive line for both of these teams the Falcons have to first-time starters Joe Holly and Garrett Reynolds Center and right guard and the Bears they got Roberto Garza he's new center for them right rookie tackle in game Karimi now listen as a defensive lineman you're always looking for that weakness and trust me today these testing thanks very much coos Oh lookit likes me that his fourth season as head coach the Falcons they won the NFC South the season ago record of 13 and 3 as Darrell mentioned during our open Falcons with another 1 seed in the NFC to the Green Bay Packers the team that beat Lovie Smith in the in the championship game [Applause] [Music] oddish [Music] in a stirring my gym Cornelison tunity to listen to singing anthem [Applause] that's to think of somebody who does a better rendition of the national anthem at coach there's fans already Chicago has won the toss rookie Matt washer will kick off from the 35 yard line for the Falcons there's one of the best all-time devin hester we got two great returners Devin Hester and Eric Thames the promo representative for the Falcons last year interested to see if they get a little bit of flexibility to bring this ball at the end zone of his team [Applause] this afternoon [Applause] illegal formation by the kicking team number 34 was behind the 30-yard before the ball was kicked 5-yard penalty REE kick it's a part of this new kick-off scenario from the 30 you could be back as far as you wanted to you could catch a running start you had guys going full speed as they cross that line the kick now they move it up to the 35 you can only be part of yards back this penalty that player was outside that five-yard barrier so they throw the flag on him one of the things that offsets why Jimmy Johnson has talked about throughout the course of the preseason and the pregame today the neat things you're going to see returns [Applause] to pay attention when you have a devin hester or you that kick-out it'll be the Hallie the guilty Falcon no kicking team player can light up more than five yards from the kicking line in this case the 35 [Music] his teammates there [Music] [Applause] as Jay Cutler in his third season with the Bears leaves the Chicago offense out a lot of people say the Jay Cutler in the lockout the fact that they didn't have ot A's he wasn't around the coaches but he was criticized about his leadership qualities after that his teammates dish at the 20 by the combination of some wonder school and Curtis Lofton one of the things that Mike Martz told us is just dramatically increased talent in the personnel on the offensive side of the ball he said his wide receivers are leap years ahead of where they were last year great understanding of the whys of this office and here's the group that Tony's concerned with only one player Chris Williams the left guard playing the same position that he was in last year [Applause] six-six an interesting situation here with beret Jerry getting the start for Corey Peters have the defensive tackle spot this Atlanta fell in his first team defense has yet to play together this season by Edwards the big addition on the front there to help Jonathan Abraham bring pressure their concern still is defending the past this group here in the second we'll see how they hold up against this Mike Martz offense [Applause] Barriss boss get to the 33 three watch the bunch coming out they're gonna try and confuse coverage all the sudden you got two guys going deep and there [Applause] Williams signals first down [Applause] two tight ends from midfield emotion Matt Forte will be the key to this office we've started this game talking about Jay Cutler talking about the wide receivers second here in Mike Martz system all that's for naught if Matt Forte is not able to run the ball effectively he's the key to this Atlanta knows it they talked about the first person they have to stop the number one concern for them is not allowing Matt Forte to get going in the running and also the passing range who is a very good screen team / - a 2010 [Applause] by Thomas Deku [Music] Bennett coming right up the scene on the release rate there in great undercut by Brent Grimes Thomas thank you I don't know what happened to him he must have just changed the flight look I've really thought that this was going to be intercepted on the deflection maybe Earl Bennett affected him as he came across saying collar doing a great job to get rid of that [Applause] great job so far [Applause] stairs must get to the 40 can you just Forte wise every receiver going down feels so you've got back to the ball coverage which means in man-to-man situation I'm not looking at Jay Cutler I don't know what's happening behind me there's Matt Forte sneaks out right into that voided area wide open to be able to convert that third down [Applause] three to the Falcons 24 well you can see the efficiency of this offense to start this game and it's one of the things that everybody talked about when we visited with Anne on Friday overall just you know number one the dramatic increase in the personnel you know they just feel that there's so much better in certain areas than they were last year the maturity some other things that came in but but also the efficiency of this system knowing it the second here understanding the concepts that white parts is teaching taking out each other the quick division snake time for daybreak taking away Curt Menefee quickest score on the season already Joe Flacco hooking up with Anquan Boldin 27 yard score it was set up by 36 yards a rice run and a minute 13 in the game Baltimore led Pittsburgh 7 nothing how's that for a quick score can he move some goose I think the key for Baltimore this year and being a presence in the AFC is the play jeff lenosky self dude bright star near wheat one [Applause] pairs of converter other first to third out attacks [Applause] for yard shot the Barker by Weatherspoon of the Bears will send out the field goal unit hey Tony one of the things that the Curtis Lofton told us about was how fast he feels this team is and you can really see it on this opening drive that they are an unbelievable in pursuit yeah they just had a couple breakdowns there narrow in that first series but they are running to the ball they changed it up a little bit usually they bring four Corp addresses on that last place they only brought three so they're trying to help out that secondary limit board partitions Robbie called from the lighthouse 49-yard a chapter holder [Applause] back in Chicago if we begin year 18 if the NFL on Fox Bears mating the Falcons 3 nothing Eric we lose Provo kick returner for the Falcons that appears small ten bears there I'll have the least one foot on the 30 [Music] [Applause] first touch back of the day no opportunity for a return by our Queens [Applause] for two they're seeing a season ago mister [Applause] dr. Jekyll chuckle how do you see the big talk tissue big deal they made me walk and get Julio Jones now they're trying to become a more explosive offense they were very good last year marching the ball down the field this big offensive line blocking from Michael Turner 10-play Drive 70 yard drives very effective in there but they need more of those flash plays those big chunks [Applause] to the left second at second [Applause] picks up a first step to the 34 the NFL's leading receiver in 2010 and this is a great opportunity for this Falcons offense to compete against a defense that knows all too well on guard and explosive offense last year against Green Bay three games 17 points 10 points and 14 points so you can roll a bunch of Robins Adam but there's better defenses [Applause] 43-yard line finally brought down by the Brian Urlacher [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] two white out of the 45 for a Falcons first now that's one of the things are going to be able to feed off Tony when you've got a strong running game in Matt Wright was excited to see what he was going to be able to do with that play action not something you're going to be watching absolutely you know if that run game sets everything up holding by the defense number 30 before the pass was thrown five yard penalty and an automatic first down DJ more well this is what happens you know you're going to be encouraged you're going to find somebody that all of a sudden you're gonna shake right there he's by an thought run you give it a little tug first down [Music] Rochelle [Applause] for the penstock defense look like Michael Turner really had to cut to the outside huge hole inside they cut back into the to his left side where everybody was I didn't understand that Darryl Chris Harris number 46 dropping down late Tony empty backfield second attempt [Applause] and two bears territory time for another gate break Kurt and another quick score the Rams first play from scrimmage of the year to give the Steven Jackson why not 47 yards later it's picked to 7 and they lead the Eagles 7 nothing good EMU seduced you better watch out catch is made by the 11-time Pro Bowler the tight end Tony Collins for another Falcons first down and this is one of the things that Julio Jones is going to help with this offense who are you going to double how are you going to defend all these weapons you're going to get Tony Gonzalez in one-on-one situations you've got a quarterback he'll stand in the pocket and take hits like that [Applause] steamships Stella gains a yard down to the 36 brought down by Lance Briggs they're getting through that offensive line Tony they're penetrating [Music] audience continue with the [Applause] [Music] offensive plays last year reception the 33-yard line two jeddaks the tackle a really quick pace here for that when the Bears are bringing four [Applause] six [Applause] first down Charles Taylor the first dare wrap up the number one pick out of Alabama working out on the outside on the top against Charles Tillman Charleston does a great job you know he knows the down in distance he's not going to do anything foolish keep that receiver in front of you make Asher tackle keep him short [Applause] that looked like everything about a goose and now they sent out the field goal unit it will be a 48-yard attempt she's out on the field the season is just inside the left up right so matt brien connects from 48 and we are tied at 3 [Music] beautiful Sunday afternoon here in Chicago following a 10-play Drive by the Bears culminating in a field goal Jenny hands with definitely [Applause] 70-year drives dear friends and special teams [Applause] Esther to the 28th to flag during the return [Applause] [Music] during the return holding by the receiving team number 20 half the distance to the goal Chicago keeps the ball first down French tells the guilty bear [Music] following the Bears have the Falcons America's game of the week that if you'll see the Giants and the Redskins it's coming up next America's game of the week right here on Fox former Bears starting at quarterback for the Redskins this afternoon rex grossman when the big duel against John back during the course training a preseason five or six dirty along with Shawn whether smooth brought him down I'm gonna be interested to see how this offensive line holds up they are such a big group and one of the points that that lovely Smith made to us you know he's we look good getting off the bus I mean this is a huge offensive line two huge tight ends so watch for the Bears to try and get on to the edge even even though this is the plan of defense is very quick very fast and pursuit they feel that they can get on the edge with the blocking of those big tight end my hopes for Kellen Davis now the starting time in number 87 slam as we check in once again with kurt weill the Lions are hit by many to make the playoffs this year that they better straight miss that off the fingertips of will Heller into the hands of a team to leave takes it back 28 yards defensive touchdown mister bucks on top ten three that was still in the first quarter getting loose induce that's gonna be an interesting game here in week one a lot of people looking at Detroit a lot of people want to know if tab what they did last year with an Intendant NFC South Falcons of the Saints [Applause] first pressure here to the outside he's gone remember the targeting that tried to change the targeting this year so that might have been helmet there was a little low coming in on Jay Cutler [Applause] [Music] [Applause] in the turn of eight good field position for the Falcons Cutler not very happy [Music] back in Chicago they cover not happy with the head from Stephen hecklers Falcons start from the 33 [Applause] Samir's territory for the latter first down this is a great sell by Matt Ryan on the play fake to get everybody to move up a little bit so you've got that room behind the linebackers give them their show it to everybody that so they can see it you've got Brian Urlacher right there 54 he's entitled to try and get it but that creates that separation between the line linebacker stepped-up and you slip your wide receiver that boy and six for six Briggs they found something that they liked on film with Chicago I had a hurry-up situation because here we go to start this drive again a school [Applause] intersection so a very smart play because and you get the same combination you're gonna get a drag across just running stride for stride underneath been tied in look at the athleticism right there he knows what Tony Gonzalez is gonna be he sees that boot and he just gets into that throwing lane he goes back at the 19-yard fancy Walker along with John Abraham and we talk about R and we're tried here watch him on the outside granny just going that's just a bulrush stop penetration right there this will disrupt any quarterback right in his face to try to settle in here this Elana Falcons defense I think they have something and they're going after Gabe Carina Wisconsin loss of 919 [Applause] james24 buddy benefits when you've been in the system for a couple years quarterbacks wide receivers brave release right there to get away from Dante Robbins and as soon as he makes that break inside the ball is there on the back shoulder nice catch by Johnny knocks on this if Jay Cutler can get that out front allow them to keep running maybe some yards after catch now that's the third completion for Cutler in this first quarter of at least 23 yards he said you know I just [Applause] [Applause] yards I'm going to slip him right out here on his screen we talked about it before they are very very good screeching Tyler clutch with a good block on the outside and then a missed tackle by sho Weatherspoon I mean I'd see it more and more at this level watch at the end of this run there's no rap I'm just gonna come over and hit him and try and push him out of bounds you're not going to push Matt Forte out of bounds you better get down around his legs and wrap him up there's a little things we always talk died with the extra point the interception by Brian Urlacher sets up the Bears first touchdown of the season 56 yards from Cutler to Forte as we head west to Los Angeles another game break here's Curt while things going baton to sand record here he gets stepped on coming away from the Milan scrimmage fumbles the football the quake halted picks it up rumbles 56 yards for the score and the Eagles have put together 14 unanswered to lead the Rams 14-7 Kenny Wilson goes with all the talk about the dream team the Philadelphia Eagles offense at the offensive touchdown it's always a great when I think about Philadelphia I always think about about defense whether it was buddy Ryan back when I was playing Jim Johnson and the great defense is he had there and you know this is that first year you know we've got a new defensive coordinator in Philadelphia now I was actually impressed with how they played in pre-season they're very aggressive they're gonna have plays like that turning the ball over scoring touchdowns and a smart heads-up play by the Philadelphia defender who was near Sam Bradford and held on a flat him and the new defensive coordinator for the Eagles is their longtime offensive line coach getting back to his roots first started go to the deep coordinator backing colleges so the Eagles leave the Rams 14-7 bears later the falcons here ten free here's Chicago peacocks to touch maps we in space today the NFL is holding a special auctions benefit 9/11 charities autographed game worn jerseys from today's game along with today's game Hall and other unique NFL items will be auctioned to raise money for Tuesday's children and my good deed visit nfl.com slash auction today to bid on items what a great idea to erase the money for these 911 charities you know a couple of first-time starters out there game-worn first official start Jersey price let me put the pin on occurs [Applause] Saros makes the catch - Tony Gonzales I've been impressed with Matt Ryan so far today just standing in the face of pressure Chicago again right there taking a hit afterwards but able to get the ball down the field big play - tony gonzalez ryan now 8 for 9 is only incompletion was the interception by Urlacher [Applause] [Applause] at the bottom of the pile no signal yet from the officials shocking on this first quarter Michael Turner looks like he's got it tucked away pretty good but Charles Tillman just gets a hand and there it pushes it out and this is something that the Chicago defense does on a regular basis it's a function of the dynamic of this team special teams and creating turnovers create short fields for this offense and it was something that was missing during the preseason there may have been a little bit of concern from Bears fans not a lot of pressure on the quarterback not a lot of turnovers through preseason but it doesn't faze these guys we talked to Brian Urlacher on Friday is that listen we don't gave we're not showing a lot of the things that we're going to show during the course of the season we know the pressures and the sacs will come we know we're going to take the ball away that's what we do first guy wraps up the next guy comes in attacked the ball man it's Julius Peppers who comes in and is credited with the recovery Charles Tillman forced it [Applause] for Calum Davis this season yes not only as a block we mentioned them as blockers on the edge but Kalin Davis varsity this guy's athleticism at six foot seven 267 pounds I mean he saw an example of it right there he almost made a great catch again Brent Grimes undercutting being very aggressive but he almost was able to pull that ball second attempt Khalil bail now the backfield for Chicago Bay [Music] today to have power back next week back up to Matt Forte as the first quarter comes to an end Bears forced to Falcon turnovers we tend three Fox NFL Sunday will return after these messages and a word from your local Fox station we start the second quarter in Chicago Bears leave ten three falcons defensive tackle jonathan governor shaken up on the last play of the first - turret motion [Applause] [Music] gets an unbelievable takeoff on the ball watch here on the right side of your screen gets outfield color does a great job of stepping up but he doesn't give up he goes right after Marcus Webb and he really got the jump on him and he knows see you or curse wasn't ugly his second set [Applause] for 57 yards on the punt after all well it's the seasons most anticipated new series the x-factor now is your chance to see the competition unfold as Fox presents an exclusive 8 minute preview see the amazing talent and hear their incredible stories tonight right after your late-game America's game of the week only on Fox would you consider Tony our our X Factor absolutely [Applause] [Music] [Applause] dear Anna Turner games a yard out to the five we probably won't see it on this Drive Tony but are you surprised that we're not seeing more who hear all about this you know explosive plays we're going down the field we're gonna be aggressive today coming out of the game really [Applause] Oh - Jason Snelling comes in to play fullback Corbin Ali the end zone juice Nellie [Applause] just chill as we check cable once again with Curt Buffalo since have put them together good young team looks like it Blanca's Patrick up to a jumping stevie johnson 27-yard touchdown and they made it in Kansas City at the end of the first quarter 14 nothing can you do seduce let's start from the bells changed [Applause] with his first sack of the season they got pressure from all over the inside the outside this pocket just collapses you can't step up that's what happens when you get that pressure in the middle those to make sure he wasn't for safety by his clothes you can get goose a shooter so rejection 444 James that is vintage Chicago Bear football your defense does a great job well actually starts off with special teams getting you down to the floor then your defense comes out makes a stop you forced them to punt out of their own end zone looked like his hand comes up there I thought it was a fair catch signal yeah he got he got lucky with that one he did have it up on but probably shielding the Sun but again now here comes special teams back out and they get you the ball on the 30-yard line so that's just vintage Chicago Bears the way they function as a team special teams but gets the offense backed up defense comes out makes the stop special teams again with a return your first intended to 30-yard line who needs 10 plays in 70 yard drives [Applause] it was the son I tell you right now Tony this Atlantic defense has to make a stop they've got they've got obviously generate a turnover get a takeaway here but I mean you better hold them to three you can't let Chicago go in and get another touchdown here so fundamentally they don't look sound at all down they're not wrapping up I mean they're running to the ball we talked about that earlier but these guys got to go on a wrap-up you got a tackle you got to go I'm not seeing that right now they're running to the ball that they got rather than attacking the ball to get turnovers like the Bears defense Dillon right now how much of the non tackling do you think has to do with those team activities throughout the summer shorter training camp and fewer practices and pads well I've seen poor tackling the last couple of years in the NFL I know they had the lockout and missed their OTAs and crazy work schedule coming in but when tackling has been an issue in my opinion for a while no fundamentally I think you know subtly in the offensive and defensive line hand placement some things like that we could see it a while before the team's adjust to the things that they're doing getting back to some good fun to models but tackling I think it's been an issue the last company once a week [Music] [Applause] Susan Davis picks up the first down well there's going to be one guy that you want to go your whole defense run to and make sure you wrap up it's Davis he's a huge target there he goes he turns boom you've got a gang tackle is guys look hit three guys on him and he was still up guys at News Chicago right guard prior to that last play Lance Lewis shake it up replaced by Chris Spencer long time see Hart [Applause] from the check fifty-two times last year most of the NFL and this time it is Kroy Biermann you later falcons they can roll out some packs refuge on you or the urban number 71 right here working on gabe Karimi again get some up field shelves and buy comes underneath them take Karimi sorry derelict he opens the gate here we turns his shoulders and his shoulders are perpendicular to the line of scrimmage when you do that you have a soft horn on the outside square as much [Laughter] [Applause] today - Wow I missed a clue man he had an opportunity there let's - he's missed he had one early to set a tempo on a deflection by Brent Grimes he's got another one here an ill-advised throw by Jay Cutler again Brent Grimes is playing very very aggressive now he might have gotten there a little bit early but that is such a huge play for Thomas deku to make you're keeping points off the board we talked about it as this drive started at the 30-yard line number one let's get a takeaway number two we got a hold into a field goal now at the play clock winding down looked like Cutler is having trouble during the play so the Bears here's a timeout back in Chicago third and goal following the Bears timeout Schlag on the previous play [Applause] it was replica 5 and then force back he got a gang jackal who talked about it earlier now I think everybody on the team got a hit on Davis right there but he does not want to go down I mean we saw him in practice the size of this guy is mammoth six foot seven one two three four he's still gone cut off him look he's shoot him off like flies he's having fun so now a 23-yard attempt the old hit from 41 earlier from the left hash [Applause] two for two the Bears have snap their leave it's now 13 free Chicago [Music] good start for the bears they forced to turnovers leave the Falcons by 10 Bobby called with his second field goal with a 56-yard Forte back in the first corner [Applause] destroy Branum we're the best of the business special teams [Applause] the sideline first now native 12 Tony we talked about it earlier we are seeing Atlantic I think it's also a function to this bears defense don't forget that's one of the things that they are very very good at there they're not going to allow those big plays over the top on that one right there an opportunity that Matt wine was hoping to get that ball down the field but a great job by that bear secondary receivership pay attention to play douglas in the stock [Applause] as a first down most of the pretty fun for the 46-yard mighty games snippet team it even have to make a move he's going to be coming straight at you right to the left side through that open up right in the middle great job by that Falcon offensive line Brian Urlacher was biting he thought it was going to be a boot to the outside he stayed with Brian on the outside that was his guy in the middle of the field [Applause] six [Applause] loses yardage after the deflection by six-foot-seven peppers yeah that's when you want to switch to the other side he's just too athletic you know you're gonna let him go to the quarterback and in short throw it next time this happens if your gels do you just knock it down [Applause] in your hand you know you're not taking that being smart you're still making the positive sixteen to the original artist ready so a third and ten coming up for the Falcons rocket stolen that was the interception by which set up ABARES touchdown [Applause] Mountains will popped it away these guys are so well school Charles Tillman fill in that slant the whole time gets his arm around gets it knocked out of roddy white interplaying man underwear the to deep shell looks like a kind of went right through Ronnie White's hands [Applause] for the Falcons following their [Applause] fled to a filter sits there to turnovers now their second pot [Applause] [Applause] [Music] hope you enjoy this first second of NFL football here on Fox 24 pulled down from behind by Curtis Lofton that was a good tackle by Curtis Lofton because Matt Forte looked like he was about ready to get onto that sideline again for another big run hasn't done his damage running the football you can see they're less than two yards per carry but he had that big touchdown reception four catches 87 yards for 40 the 20 Chris Williams the left guard and then John Abraham times we get caught up talking about guys as pass rushers but there's John Abraham showing you that he can play the run effectively as well you're so quick off the snap and they beat guys inside right away he's into the backfield no chance for that one doesn't matter if it's a run or advance penetration Hertz offenses from start to the season for Abraham to sex already today now attacking for loss second if the nine Bears must get to the 30 [Applause] jocks 18-yard pass play [Applause] if you can hold the ball a little bit and allow these routes to get downfield they're going to be able to find some spots there's Johnny Knox number 13 watch him break to the inside right there not a great job in zone coverage don't know where Chris Owens was going he was running to the flat as soon as he moved out towards the sidelines Johnny Knox came right into that window looks like they're keeping count Davison also to help the rear pass rush [Applause] innovate one of the things you can do to slow down that pass rush Tony's get this run game going a little bit more effectively you know don't give up on it too quick let these big guys up front put their hand down and just come off the ball see right there only 12 yards rushing right now for Chicago second down and two and four times of first step at the Falcons territory we check in on the liar to the Bucs Kurt yeah another NFC North versus South matchup and what's this smell about Matthew Stafford over the funky storms that achieved to leave and right to the hang on to Calvin Johnson 36 yard score and the Lions have their first lead of the day 1310 in Michigan so a positive highlight involving Calvin Johnson and we quad this season we're at the scene of the crime right here yes there's live so the season opener last year that was [Music] [Applause] the emotion in a wide receiver but you've got to be looking to the inside it's hard I'll bet it right here you got to have your eyes on this one you know you got to get out there you're looking outside and here comes Curtis loft and that's where your threat is and it's you know you're asking a wide receiver to come into the backfield block on a toss sweep and a lot of times their eyes will drift to the outside onto the perimeter but all use your big threat is going to come from that inside position there's almost 17 minutes take it down to the 41 yard line by del buckler will head to the sideline bears with a ten-point lead here in Chicago coming up today's a halftime report with Curt Terry Howie Michael and Jimmy they left scores and highlights on sports ticker with all the latest stats was great having Michael [Music] [Applause] I'll kill it as he tries and sorts things out for a Jerry's going to be able to sell them on this one offside defense number 94 first down I guess I have a flag guy that's my friend and your mic is still open oh you know what he is right there is a little flinch that's right Chris Spencer did move Wow ray Geri was absolutely right on that one though Spencer is telling it for last Louis with an excellent return Forte loses a couple and the Bears lose their second time if a minutes 56 remaining in this first half well this October the American league's best teams will their brightest stars to see which one will become the newest hero that leads them into the Fall Classic legends are born on October our exclusive coverage of the total age only the Dallas area Texas Rangers coming to the San Francisco Giants in the World Series Rangers will try to get back it should be in the mix again the heat is finally broken down in Texas these guys you see their energy back to that late season push at the 32-yard line and how the Falcons use their second time well this game was tied at 3 in the first quarter when Brian Urlacher made a diving interception of a - coverage at 56 yards for the game's only touchdown [Applause] that right there with Matt Forte think about him in the running game but a really well-designed play you could see how open it was on the outside there [Applause] who signals first we struggled on pre-season with production a big catch right here and athletic goes up grabs it at the highest point [Applause] he could be a huge help to this bears offense he's got the familiarity with Mike Martz a system from his time up in Detroit names left in the total ballplayer March back in 2006 useless next year [Applause] touchdown receptions last year had a lot of offers Lonnie Smith convinced him to come to Chicago and he made such an impression during training camp that the Bears are carrying six wide receivers into the year Sam heard down today little nicked up as a special teams player but Dane sazhin Barker was so impressive that they just felt they couldn't let him go created a couple little packages for him here offensive a great throw on that last play by Jay Cutler though is a great position that was just placed perfectly now with the play clock it's a 30-second timeout so each team with one timeout remaining a minute 10 remaining in this first half with the Bears leading by 10 and on the move well this November Fox Sports steps into the Octagon with an epic heavyweight title fighters the number one ranked contender in the world Junior dos Santos wears off with undefeated world champion Cain Velasquez he must see live mixed martial arts event you can only catch on fox though Santos and Velasquez for the UFC heavyweight championship of the world it's live Saturday November 12th right here for Chicago [Applause] position and Forte wrapped up knocked out of bounds by J Robinson a half yard shy of the barco so we'll be throw down offensive efficiency Jay Cutler talked about it I'm thinking anymore sorting through things you know as I'm going back I feel comfortable ready to take that next step you can see his production today very impressive in the first half [Applause] got my building to his right [Applause] 10 if he caught that boy just no time from to get it back what a great play design we talked about him he's six foot seven it's hard to overthrow Callum Davis there is nobody over there nobody sell sell sell veil what a great job by Jay Cutler he does everything right there's one guy and three bears to bar so instead there's not to sell today city architect it is straight through [Applause] number 87 on the backside you sell it you get a little shove everybody takes off you can see right there there was nobody from Atlanta out there that's going to be such a walk in so much about that offensive execution I was talking [Music] just did a great job is selling it he sold it too long we never turned his back to look back and see what David try to anticipate where he might be is a big target hard overthrow but that's exactly what he did the band's now lead 16/3 as we take a moment to remember those who lost their lives ten years ago today on September 11 mm water would like to welcome the battered women in uniform serving around the world watching today's broadcast at 175 countries on AFN the American forces Network we hope you are enjoying this afternoon's game and not only the people that we lost 10 years ago on September 11th military personnel that we've lost since that day defending their liberties and freedom of this country overseas the text away we have one timeout in their pocket at 55 seconds on the clock uncharacteristically when you think that last season the Falcons were throat of the league in turnover ratio on a - - today but this is the Bears and this is what they do and it's it's part of this dynamic that this team functions on it's driven by special teams it's driven by takeaways on the defensive side of the wall they don't give up big plays they give their offensive short field and one of the impressive things today so far has been the efficiency this offensive at a 10 yard scoring drive that last one was 13 plays when they scored they just get some touchdowns in that red zone backpedaling on first up if he throws the catch is made by spelling games just water Falcons use two timeouts while on defense [Music] so the clock continues to run they approach 30 seconds exciting picks up the first down 25 seconds on the clock as the Falcons call timeout and we check in once again with Dirk that if he in Los Angeles Kirk hated Peyton Manning played defense with special teams everything for the Colts going wrong against Houston this is Jacoby Jones 79 yards on a punt return not even a halftime yet and Houston leaves the Colts 34 to nothing 30 30 nothing and they just just got to have time any loosenoose Wow I tell you what though to lose somebody like Bateman I don't think that there's a player in the NFL that means more to his team then Peyton Manning so it's going to be a huge emotional letdown for the Indianapolis Colts and some of the damage has been done on defense and special teams but that is you expect everybody to raise your level of play to make stealing out to the 38 seconds to me there what do you think will y'all Jones a nine round baby now eight seconds well obviously you're gonna I would think you've got a little time to maybe try and get a quick out you didn't stop the clock again and get you a little bit closer so you can make a throw into the end zone right here Jones was there contactors that would have been a free flight correct he's unabated though offside defense number 71 five-yard penalty that results in a first down he got far enough up field Tony where I think they just killed the play that helps them out a little bit you know maybe they can grab another little chunk here gives you a better chance for a throw into the end zone to put Kellen Davis on defensive situation [Applause] on our qualifier but time has run down on the field [Applause] coming up next [Applause] [Music] back in Chicago follow your favorite team all season long go to iTunes dot-com slash NFL as we get set for the second half here in Chicago Kenny Albert with Darrell Johnston 16 3 lead for the Bears over the Falcons who won 13 games a year ago Darrell top seed heading into the playoffs in the NFC and we expected a lot offensively but that has not been the case over the first two quarters no no and it's gonna be a tough matchup for Atlanta to showcase any type of explosive element in their offense remember this is the Chicago Bears and the one thing they don't do is give up big plays they're very very well versed in this defense it's a team defense approach they play the Green Bay Packers three times last year and 1710 and 14 that's one of the most explosive offenses you're going to see we saw them on stage Thursday night throw up 42 so you know Atlanta maybe today it would have been better for them to stay with the old Atlanta style offense let's pound Michael Turner let's run some play-action hey-ya we'll mix in a shot down the field you know getting into the hurry up and some of the other things I think there must been a fire of brimstone speech at halftime at that or team in that matter that I expected to see today [Applause] there is a flag special teams for Chicago [Music] during the return holding by the receiving team number 81 first down that's on Michael Palmer so this will force it's back to the six [Applause] [Music] first half - you take a look at it rushing yards only 20 to 30 go no big deal the big thing is turnovers it's forced to turnovers today started possession they start the second half enforcement position again from the sex Ryan throwing out of his himself completed on solids the shy of the first down case viewers are wondering about the final play of the first half it looked to us is if Snelling did get out of bounds with two seconds remaining but the clock operator a bit slow with stopping the clock and round all the way down so [Applause] [Music] [Applause] facing a third down [Applause] that's their first it's a 30-second timeout we take you back to that final play of the first half the completion from Margot Estella and just keep an eye on your game clock down in the lower right hand corner and as you pointed out Kenny you know it's not reviewable and Atlanta stayed out here for a while they wanted two seconds put back on the clock so slow to stop the clock right there but that is not reviewable so end of the half everybody goes in Mike Smith wants at least one second back now he's lobbying for two could be either/or but he's not going to get one of those choices it still would have been a Hail Mary for the Falcons Snelling stepped out of the Bears school [Applause] this is change the tire inside the 35-yard line at the 32 of Chicago as he gains 58 I want you to watch a great block by the offensive line on the safety as the safety comes up to force this play he's going to get Justin Blaylock look at that not many times a big old guard gets a chance to block a safety not easy to block those guys Michael Turner Illinois native Bears fan as a youngster his first regular-season game here sold members get attendance [Applause] all the way down the Bears 21 for another Falcons first down Kotani we keep talking about all these explosive plays in this Atlanta off it's and it's just a good old running game that gets their biggest play of the day I mean we talked about it at halftime you came out of the Darrell you know there's defense lights to keep everything in fun but at some point the Atlanta Falcons have to go and challenge this off defense now you go and he trade the house for Julio Jones [Applause] I see a big explosive play pick the defense [Applause] is to the fifth round draft pick out of Oregon State to Chris Rogers with Turner still on the sidelines and Rogers was wrapped up by Brian Urlacher and that's exactly what this defense wants they want you to run the ball they want short passes so they can go solidify the tackle we saw strips earlier in the first half I mean you're playing right into the Chicago Bears defense at some point [Applause] and goose down and pull up jogs back hands head to the right top of the screen Burger King to the 21 yard line after the animals the tackle we've seen that a couple times today Tony when they've got the personnel group out their work they're going to try and do one of those plays that you're talking about threatened that Chicago defends down the field on autopilot the line are going back to a run they feel that the adjustment has happened Chicago's on to that adjustment at the line of it's almost like they're trying to say [Applause] it's rowdy white riding the crowd Falcons pick up a first down so when they're gonna play everything in front of them you've got to be able to find these little openings in the zone nature ride a little bit late getting there good cell by Roddy White he showed him that he was going to go to the corner then snap that off real quick pretty good execution by the Falcons there on that play 14 yard pickup Michael Trotter back in the game first and goal from the Chicago er Chicago's defensive line has been impressive all afternoon all phases you know against the run maybe getting pressure on Matt Ryan with just their four D lineman [Applause] la defensive coordinator [Applause] children got a piece on it he's played a heck of a game he has been in everybody's hip pocket cuckoo this one a quick slant double slants on the outside looking to give that armor in there to collect that ball great break great aggressive play by [Applause] tended to smelling who said those different events can't get that little zone scheme he goes to the inside move what a great heads-up play that's a game Tony it looked like Nick read it was not a zone drop it looked like he was going to go inside on a twist with Matt tuina and then all of a sudden he saw Jason Snelling release jumped on him in coverage well turns out the other [Applause] around 6:00 seven yards thanks to that long run by Turner and Brian connects for the second time today get great celebrating after his big play [Music] Kenny Albert Darrell Johnston Toni Siragusa back in Chicago the Falcons drive 87 yards the cutaway of only three points both of these defenses really tightening things up in the redzone so and it's tough business down there toughness you got a brother football makes things tough on you [Applause] I think we had so many touch backs during the preseason the but everybody forgot how to block on kickoff return that's gonna be like our fifth flag getting a lost art during the return illegal block in the back by the receiving team number 21 half the distance to the goal Chicago keeps the ball first down not too hard Tony if you can see the guys number don't put your hands on his back you see the name let him go [Music] Topsy's see to the NFC last season there's later the fash 16:6 the middlegame 7 out to the 15-yard line we talked to Mike Martz on Friday and you know one of the things he talked about with what this offense would be very good to be able to do is come out something everybody up in the beginning of the game would you pass through second ear in his system very confident that his wide receivers have taken that progression Jay Cutler's taking that progression now come back and really start pounding the ball and let that offensive line come off we saw a little bit of it on the last Drive to end the first half and it looks like we're gonna get some more that the start second go over 200 yards 222 [Music] [Applause] to be 18 yard line close to a first down as coach marks upstairs he's got to be very very happy with how his team has played so far today one of the things that he talked to us about on Friday were actually witnessing here but you stay with that running game and has it been very productive form throughout the first half but that's how you're gonna you're gonna take this time off this clock when you're up by 10 against Atlanta fortune [Applause] what scream the white bears picked it up for me [Applause] this week and we got to get a nickname for Tyler so all your various fans out there you got to come up with something for for Tyler we can't be referring to him as a klutz play the full-back spot we need something changes here's a defensive end goose at Fresno State played in the Arena League the UFL the CFL and the Bears coaches you're excited about him bombs thought they could sneak the practice squad smart to the Bears here our kickoff weekend it's a good thing he didn't have time because that's a play we saw earlier today Roy Williams was wide open in that intermediate route but it was Kroy Biermann number 71 getting up field and hurrying this throw watch number 11 Roy Williams they turn him loose again everybody goes deep with devin hester we saw that play early in the first half it was going to work again but they didn't have time williams with three receptions in the first half his dad check it down at 10 hey that'd be 26 yard games 27 your corner on the outside as you squeeze in to make the tackle if you have got to have contain you've got to come in and be square watch what we have for take those and Dante Robinson right here which you're the only one who can squeeze that ball back to the middle of the field where all your teammates are [Applause] that's a heck of a cut-down 146 to 5 yards before now 50 ships on the ground receptions for 90 it's surprising right there that devon has to did you get that ball inside the pot alot they got it mark short Williams saw number 11 write down the outside watch 32 Khalil bell came in right here Tony there is great hustle down the field [Applause] now this is not all touchdown on the field so it is not automatically reviewed lovie smith would have to challenge it he does throw the red flag so it oculi we'll take a look at it forever plays that a ruled scores on the field or automatically reviewed upstairs coaches kept secret was challenging and the rule that the ball was down short of the goal line but Hester was ruled down inside the one so lovey Smith uses his first challenge of this 2011 season [Music] back in Chicago Devin Hester cool down inside the one Bears have challenged and Hawk to Williams taking a look at it in order for the ball to be a touchdown there has to be a shot where the ball is over the pylon as there is no such shot the ruling in the field stays as ball let's welcome into Los Angeles our rules analyst Mike Pereira Mike what did you think I'd say this is a tough one because it's not really that airborne talking about the guy and having to get the ball over the topper inside the pylon he's not out of bounds actually until he steps there with his left foot so you know that this is kind of one of those I guess he felt he didn't have enough to overturn it although I thought with the runner being in bounds it was a touchdown Mike thanks Mike first and goal from the one when I have a fan club or family members graphs there is it the other line its crew it's just a quick move right there I mean sometimes you see him celibate look at Mattie he said to heck with this I'm gonna SWAT this guy back quarter the enzyme give me a touchdown babs the answer quite match his first catches of ever of advanced picado Antonelli [Music] that's faith his first reception first touchdown as a member of the Bears who tallied 23 to 6 [Music] [Applause] makes it a first attend Atlanta four-twenty will you take a look at this touch I think the Kroy Biermann lined up over top of Matt's path has him in coverage which is asking him to do a lot he sees it at two-point stance as a defensive end he's inside but look at the linebackers come up everybody else is coming up they're going to flash they're coming to quarterback and Troy Biermann is the one turning around trying to get back in coverage so that's that's tough duty for him right there [Applause] [Music] [Applause] watch them was deflected [Applause] decreed number 94 good adjustments ease the guard pulling kids out continues to work never gets up on it forces to throw another guy a training camp guy who I'm sure the Bears probably didn't think was gonna be on the motion but had such an impressive camp motor guy [Applause] which tumors [Applause] [Music] by roddy white gate at seven this would be the time that you think that Atlanta would get back into this kind of hurry up mode we saw the first 17 right here urgency at 6:21 they change America is wreak havoc all day I'm trying to make something happen puts the ball on the ground there finishes it off I mean this is just vintage Bears team not defense but team this is how this group functions remember every story plays with you you saw it that hot Uli's buzzer [Applause] this career [Applause] oh boy 2:6 Chicago what a day for Brian Urlacher three tackles an interception fumble recovery and a touchdown interception great hustle on the fumble recovery for the touchdown and again this is just this is how the Chicago Bears function great special teams to defense nothing's get behind him the offense is vastly for a flatshare just like my first old as he felt it would be [Applause] Oh well we've been waiting all game for that guy right there Julio Jones to go and be the explosive player that we thought was going to be take a look at these stats right here they're one through one on Katz's over 20 yards only one attempt I mean that is we expect to come in not at all but but again you know Chicago is not going to let you get something behind they're gonna patience [Applause] first out to create a michael charter down and out of bounds across to the 40 that's what you have to do more times than not you can you can push people down the field but the chances are going to be open against this style of defense is not very often so you've got to check it down and hope you get yards after the catch on your shorter throws and then try and frustrate the Bears to move up and make a mistake today's it to be at the reception goose they talk to their safeties right now [Applause] time [Applause] the five and a half remaining in this third quarter and the Bears leading 42-6 revelry Hawkins put together that 87 yard drive at the beginning of the second half what happened settle for a field goal prepares then score two touchdowns in 57 seconds as Julio Jones makes the catch down to the Bears 26 Ryan is a great job again that ball off I pay a lot Brian Urlacher's right in space but this is what you want to see Julio Jones there's not a player on the Bears team that's has the speed at Julio Joe test he's going to go down the field you see the safety over the top but Matt Ryan is good enough to go and put it into place where he can go and get it this time at Chicago that's their first here's his Brian Urlacher right there boom look at that he's wide open Matt Ryan does a great job of going to getting that ball off there's use their first time out and we head to Los Angeles for game break with Curt the Detroit Lions hope Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson can keep hooking up like this second time today they score three touchdown passes to Stafford they need 27:13 he's living off the field in Tampa but Kenny moose and goose they're saying is just plants right now so don't worry about it yeah healthy [Applause] static Matthew Stafford [Applause] 10:26 [Applause] to run away [Music] the combination of in getting's and Nick Roach it's not that looks to me Darrell watching Matt Ryan's down here on the field it doesn't look like he's not trying to look downfield you know he's looking downfield just doesn't see anybody open it he's making those short you know those short throws to his second Green when he's had the guys opened down the field I think he's taking his shots he saw the last one - Julio Jones but he got a credit the Bears defense [Applause] inside the 20 at the 18-yard line gate of hate and I think it's something that he's aware of Tony when we talked to him on Saturday you know he said you know I've got to take that shot down the field you know there's times that last year maybe I didn't do it as much and he admitted it Roddy White had talked about it so he's conscious of the fact that he needs to be more aggressive with his decision-making I just think he's being smart today and taking what the Bears are giving him without giving him much I'll tell you that late flag was throwing guys [Applause] after the play was over a personal foul unnecessary roughness offense number 83 to 15-yard penalty the down counts is therefore a third down that's on wide reciever Harry Douglas Douglas involved with Brandon Meriweather it was just signed a week ago [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] it retailed earlier you can see why they like its pass rushing skills boy he was off the ball quick there well he's trying to time you know the center looks back in that his head comes up and he's kettle 1/1000 table start offense number 61 the center father's head 5-yard penalty its third down for the Falcons Jill Hawley career start top consecutive starts yeah and Tony talked about it Garrett Reynolds his defensive line Pepper's inside 22 just keeping everything in front of you as a defense for the Chicago Bears a linebackers 12 yards deep on that play look how deep Urlacher is right here in the middle of the middle of the field and he's dropping back he's like 30 yards deep right now they're trying to keep everything in front of him like Daryl talked about smelling just doesn't make this catch for sure [Applause] for a bit field never has to not deep for them to pelleted down by Eric Weems the six yard line what a day provider the parents [Music] there's all over the Falcons here in Chicago forty into six next weekend on the FX Saturday game of the week charles davis and dust johnson bring you all the action as Darrow's alma mater the Syracuse Orange take on Matt Barkley and Southern Cal the FX Saturday college football game of the week presented by Russell Athletic in high definition next weekend only on FX check local listings for the channel and start time in your area many defending Pinstripe Bowl champions day real Bell there is a flag holding offense number 44 the penalty is declined brings up second down by all the clubs see now he has to keep the name when he's holding you gotta call him the klutz you got to either go with it change it or not change it down come on well come up with something you've been down there listen if you didn't come up with something by now should have changed it in college I like that so you said he looked like John Daly like that one we call him John Daly we saw the practice in he did resemble John Daly to give it to you guys at that one second out of 10 [Applause] and Debbie we head west Curt benefit cuts a slow start the Philadelphia Eagles looking like the Philadelphia Eagles Michael Vick going to his left hooking up the DeSean Jackson two touchdown passes through pick Jackson over 100 yards receiving and the Eagles lead at 24 13 over st. Louis in the third Kenny Molson deuce nice skirt the Eagles the next opponent for the Atlanta [Applause] it doesn't get easy for either one of these teams goggle must travel to the air to that post [Applause] chatted for Johnny docks yeah Lawrence it Barry had a long run matched up against Kellan Davis coming off the outside got out a little bit more than that I think he must have thought he had some help somewhere another sack three times in the first half here spotless hunting out of his head zone as we saw earlier and it's down at the 43-yard line 237 remaining third quarter the NFL holding a special auction today to benefit 911 charities autographed game board jerseys from today's game along with today's game ball and other unique NFL items will be auction to raise money for Tuesday's children and my good deed visit nfl.com slash auction today to bid on the items might be a good chance to get an earl Acker Jersey today gooo slit interception only four touchdowns in his career one of them today there might be another one out there people are interested in about the referee at Hockley nice Jersey right there with the tight arms we took your game shirt from today's game up for auction absolutely Kenny everybody wants the body the snowflake first it is already inked a little warm down here I'm sweating a little bit but the lot I leave the perspiration and everything right in there for you that's value just it's appreciating as you speak in goose crisis it on the bottom second attack [Applause] bring it down hey Tony you know one of the things you mentioned earlier today is because of this defensive line being able to consistently get pressure with four they haven't had to to blitz a lot they haven't had to drop that safety down to help them support the run and that allows them to stay in that cover to defense that makes it really really difficult for this Atlanta team to take advantage in the past [Applause] Ronny white at the Bears 44 for an Atlanta first down don't get many chances here to get two touches on a ball [Music] the Bears defense are they all [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I just wonder why people don't remember the closing speed of Julius Peppers the middle of field to the sideline he's so athletic for his size just call it away man I mean he is coming down [Applause] so I took the bottle as well [Applause] former Houston Texas coming in from that area that you talked about Tony Center right door no that's [Applause] just gets caught on this on his heels a little bit you got to keep your hips low and stay right next to your guard [Applause] they'll bring us to the end the third quarter here there's led 16/3 at the half [Applause] a field goal that's officially ruled incomplete well when we returned Falcons will pump to the lane bears with two touchdowns in 57 seconds [Applause] it's fourth down and that is the end of the third quarter the last Chicago touchdown also had an interception back in the first quarter we'll return after these messages from your local Fox station [Music] [Applause] back in Chicago Kenny Albert Dale Johnston Tony but to six as we start the fourth quarter posture to putt for Atlanta [Applause] [Applause] here we go [Applause] is down to ten chance at USC here at Soldier Field just moments ago between quarters what a great scene [Music] back at Soldier Field on September 11th 2011 we go to some chest bumps and some high fives now I'll get the chance to thank the soldiers [Applause] [Music] dated six this is exactly the way that mike martz scripted to of what he would like to do he was impressed by the way the Green Bay played on Thursday night kind of in a similar fashion come out with the passing game in the beginning build your lead and then come back and really run the ball take time off the clock limit the opportunities from the opposition and he has followed that recipe to a tee here this afternoon executed really really well by Jay Cutler in the first half throwing the football and now it looks like they're getting ready to turn it over to Matt for fifty-two to five yards so far today [Applause] then going into this game by a two question marks of both these offensive line although we seen Gabe Karimi don't have his bumps in the road Roberto cars in the center for the Chicago Bears play unbelievable game so far I mean he's got a little bit of time Dara like we all did we were rookies but he'll be okay but they've really done a good job as a group prepared to the Olympics they have a lot of problems on that it went off it's like Caribbean the trophy winter lettuces in Wisconsin [Applause] tutorial [Applause] 8 of 13 despite the injury signals first down we've seen we've seen some poor tackling by the Atlanta Falcons today slipping a lot over playing not being in good position to stay in front of the man of the ball still wanted to make sure they gave that first down signal to the officials just to help out just in case they weren't sure right goose just in case a wide receiver set time to back out of the slide [Applause] at 17 finally showing a little smile having a little bit of fun Van Gorder he just has to be able to keep up with his bears offense during the course of the afternoon laughing he smiles become the very that NFC Championship game over the back to get a tea shove it [Applause] pass interference defense number 56 the ball is placed at the spot of the foul first down [Applause] like work still staying aggressive here with this big lead he hasn't really gone to that four minutes now often so you're going to come in and pound the ball and take time off the clock running an empty set there Jay Cutler with a big [Applause] and Matt Smith caught a touchdown pass back in the third quarter gain of six [Applause] went down in 4/4 Chicago three walk receivership we'll use a timeout I'm on Chicago that's that shot says it all from the Falcon standpoint really does two of the guys that we're looking to have big days this afternoon of the passing game and there miles well the last time most of the nation saw Jay Cutler in action he would leave the NFC Championship game early in the third quarter with an injury to set off a firestorm of criticism and these are actual headlines from the local papers here in Chicago so again we talked about his maturity over the course of the summer who came in in good shape done a lot with the guys because they weren't allowed to be around the coaches in the facility organize some activities stepped up in a leadership role and we're seeing a lot of [Applause] chase party [Applause] the plane [Applause] 26 years of age tomorrow was early birthday present it's the effective touchdown and Ray Edwards to bring pressure from the other side but you can't forget about Kroy Biermann he had a similar play last year extremely athletic as a defensive end some good speed right here great help from his teammates good hustle by Earl Bennett got there just a little bit late there is he's in the end zone broke the plane that's a that's a Strider to just a little bit too late you got hustled by her the Falcons will go for two looks like the Falcons got a little bit of breath of life on the sideline something that the Chicago Bear team didn't want to do down last year down came against Cleveland he returned an interception 41 [Applause] oh gee Kroy Biermann with the interception and the Atlanta touchdown happy birthday Kroy [Music] well at 50 yards interception for a touchdown my boy Thurman has quieted the crowd here in Chicago but the Bears still lead by 18 and we were just kind of talking about it at the time and we expected Chicago to get into more of a grinded out stuff he came out with started throwing grant some empty sets and definitely backfired on him right there with that interception by Corey Biermann for the touchdown so better be alert for the onside here thirty-five [Music] [Applause] yester will not come out finally take city [Applause] again Hockley made the decision for him want to take it me like that a pastor wanted to go on some clock down a little bit [Applause] boy Birla still breathing hard there start for the 20p what it's Rehema not for Tara today [Music] first out Khalil bail out to the 24 the data form you can be aggressive but still at least show the formation that you're going to run it right now Tony and I were talking would suffice to see him in that empty set during that stage of a game when you've got the big lead you're just trying to take time off the clock you can get into some run formations and still have the ability to throw the ball but we'll see if five Lovie Smith called up the coach marketing today let's be a little bit concerned about this next drive the 24 and tossed a bell tried to cut it back inside to the arms of burnished Lofton there's some big athletic guys we've talked about the size of the Chicago offensive line but it's not just straight ahead they're pulling too they want to take advantage of these big tight ends on the edges they feel that they can block one-on-one with the defensive ends they can get the guard in the center out the round they want to get their running backs on the edges for the bigger plays in the run game North America for the Falcon 37 first town [Applause] to be in shock there was a late flag thrown as well after Dell picked up first down yardage holding offense number 73 half the dishes to the goal repeat third down left tackle Jamarcus web [Music] working on the outside with John Abraham starts to beat him around the corner he pulls him down we see a little good movement by Jay Cutler in that pocket there to buy himself a little bit of time steps up dumps it offshore to Khalil Bell who does the rest form but it all for naught [Applause] so instead of a first doubt it will be third and 17 from the 13-yard line he has related fourth-quarter here in Chicago bears live by 18 [Applause] to Devin Hester the Falcons a year ago nails were pumped it away fool me once fool me twice though that same flame Devin a stir on the outside even a little bit of open space we've got a landed it Falcons defense recognized it and crowd them right up there kind of that conservative play call we're talking about though Tony get it into Devin Hester's hands on the outside you never know what he's going to do he might make somebody miss and they get you enough yardage for that first down in that situation [Applause] [Applause] is immediately by Graham Falcons back at offense when we return to Chicago [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] even when they get them open they've been having trouble making that connection right there a good route design yet Harry Douglas working the underneath pull some guys up create some space for Julio Jones just couldn't hold on to that catch [Applause] [Applause] games three holding offense number 72 10-yard penalty repeat second down Rococo Sam Baker well you really thought it was going to be the offensive lines that determine the winner of this game today Tony and you really got to hand it to Chicago both sides of the ball their offensive line you know like you pointed out it's body from time to time but overall pretty consistent in this this Chicago defensive line is really just kind of overwhelmed Atlanta's offensive [Applause] [Music] can't say enough about them there's defense they came right off the last year didn't skip a beat well sack number five for Chicago they forced three turnovers and the fifth sack of Matt Ryan and as Tony pointed out when you're only rushing for that allows you to have the other seven in the secondary look downfield at what Matt Ryan is looking at there's nobody there and just I mean they have been relentless up front every mountain second sack Julius Peppers has two [Applause] Brian Urlacher with an interception as well as a football recovery Master calls for fair tips 6:05 remaining bears leading 32:12 three turnovers bitten by the Falcons leading to fourteen Chicago points big day for both Matt Forte and Jay Cutler 15 career 300 yard game as well as Brian Urlacher yeah exactly exactly all 350 today you know I think the big thing the disappointing thing for Al and the turnover is because that was really one of the keys in that that tough playoff loss to Green Bay in the divisional round last year two critical turnovers by Atlanta they start the season this year for his game with some critical turnovers is back [Applause] 26 but this one would I be against the Bears security flaw they got my number 73 10-yard penalty you'd be first down the Marcus Webb again is having a tough go at the last few series [Applause] you know Donnell you mentioned land is lost to Green Bay and the post season both of these teams lost to the Packers in the playoffs people tend to forget the Bears won the division last year in 111 games Green Bay ten and six needed to win on the final Sunday of the regular season just to make the postseason knockers go on to win the Super Bowl but the Bears are the defending division champs and they are sending a message to the rest of the league today well loud and clear we touched on it at the top Atlanta still continues to be mentioned among the NFC elite going into the season with New Orleans with Green Bay Atlanta is one of those teams and Chicago not getting the note I agree Kenny it sent a huge message today as we head west tuckerton well don't forget the philadelphia eagles everyone talking about them and the eagles living up to the height but sean mccoy big hole 1 cup 49 yards he's got a receiving and touchdown and the russell touchdown and is over $100 today 31:13 they leave in st. Louis an initiative that's pretty impressive by the Philadelphia Eagles that should silence some of the people who are wondering you know how was all this talent gonna come together as a team is it just me or does 2016 under five minutes remaining as the Falcons take a timeout landed with one timeout remaining this game was tied at 3 back in the first quarter when Cutler hit Forte he's looking 56 yards for a bearish touchdown dad just a great job and he watched in this first half and it was it was all Bears football you know great defense special teams giving a with a touchdown catch the tea treads has been there all day [Applause] the pocket Matt Ryan puts it on the ground Brian Urlacher there to scoop it out but all these different facets of the bears and how they function as a team not really they're increasing but no concerns from Brian Urlacher he told us Friday listen have it that's preseason we don't show a lot we're expecting an upset they have turnovers once the season starts and he was absolutely correct Pass tenifer Hester nearly picked off the Weatherspoon's in our Chicago will punt a lot of opportunities for today had for Atlanta to change this game Thomas Deku had a chance for early interception he had another opportunity to keep points off the board Chicago kicked a field goal but an opportunity to get an interception in the end zone they've been in position to make plays but continually throughout the afternoon Atlanta has not made those plays six [Applause] [Music] during the return illegal block in the back by the receiving team number 44 that's a ten-yard penalty Atlanta keeps the ball first down 442 remaining will be fountains football Darrell if you're buying Smith Philadelphia upcoming next week you didn't win a game of the preseason which of course doesn't mean a thing as far as the records go but then like this today what would your message be to the team I think it wasn't concern for Mike Smith that they didn't win a game in the preseason and then after the way they played today it's going to be very disappointing because you've got Philadelphia coming into town we've been seeing on highlights during the course a really explosive team you came into this game you know looking at Chicago and you know they're gonna brother football they're gonna throw some play action we feel we can match up if Philadelphia is going to throw an entirely different dimension edge and offensively you know they have struggling today with Chicago's off how about you do this you play for Mike Smith you know him well what would you expect as a player following a game such as this one I don't know I think he had big expectations I thought that with the weapons that they had that we'd see a lot more of explosive this downfield a lot more you know taking chances it was this mr. Chia a great defense we gotta get better no one's picks up a first down into Bair's territory Jerome's games 28 keeping my car as the Falcons as we take another look Ryan getting Jones for the fifth time today look Charles Tillman moved off the route that was coming in behind him there was a there was a corner route coming in behind him on that hedge he moved towards that that got him on a position and allowed Julio Jones to make him miss and that's one of the things you don't normally see you don't see a Bears player trying to make over the top to roger's keep in mind that the Falcons did lose their season opener last year it overtime in Pittsburgh 59 went on to win 13 of their next 15 games I just think they need to keep this in perspective this this is a defense that is not going to allow you to do what I think to see a different style of offensive football they wanted to see julio jones and harry douglas down the field roddy white michael turner tony gonzalez they've got a lot of weapons here but but Brian Urlacher told us listen we feel like we match up what we have respect for but we play Green Bay twice a year and I'll stack up their skill positions again slow start offense number 75 five-yard penalty first down so just don't panic next week against Philadelphia with Juan Castillo you're gonna have more of aggressive man-to-man you're gonna have your opportunities next week to take shots down the field just understand how good this defense played this afternoon hopefully Todd McClure is able to come back I think that that Joe holiday you know today would sell these guys in his first career start that's a that's a tough to me for you to talk John Garrett Reynolds both going up against one of the best defensive lies in football when you talk about the ability to get pressure on the quarterback with four guys yeah but when you get that press write that value open the can of worms now every team is gonna be going after [Applause] [Applause] to make Smith and their team that they can get the job done they're gonna have to go and stop people from going to get pressure up the middle or they're gonna see it we came and week out and there's a lot of good defensive tackles in there they're gonna put a lot of pressure on Matt I'm Matt and it's gonna restrict him from before the pass was thrown he an eagle hands to the face by the defense number 26 that's a five-yard penalty in an automatic first down it does not matter whether the pass is catchable that happened before the boats that's Tim Jennings letting me dance up on roddy white but tony you have to keep in this has been done with four guys you know people may want to bring pressure with the other teams Philadelphia with a five or a six man here for that now you don't have those seven defenders behind you being able to keep play zone curvature you've been to get opportunities for that past 10:00 at 4:00 Mary Douglas [Music] they need to find an identity on the office they likely would land a bunch of times they had doll there they hadn't added to that's something that thought you know I just don't feel down here and I can I can I question their offensive line they're in Atlanta maybe with some kind of an attitude they got to come together try to solidify a give a little bit more time in the pocket to get get his worked out Barbie doll now a st. Louis Rambo [Applause] for Roger since Ryan winds up on his back there's more pressure right there I mean Matt's not going to make it through this season they're Russian for players you got five on four they're moving they're not stopping I mean then he gets killed there at the end of play and this is a tough one here because he gets caught in between Henry valve and Julius watch across right there [Applause] to the Seas that could get sick Shelby Chuck isn't helping doctors use their final timeout my Smith asking right if he's okay he's is one of the most competitive well coming up next Game two of our doubleheader America's game of the week many of you will see the NFC East that jet between the network Giants and the Washington Redskins with Peyton Manning's streak coming to an end today consecutive starts fine boy back number one on the list is down his brother Eli and 103 and that's awesome right there there's some leadership guys hold on hold on let's finish this game and that's you want to be recognized as a team that regardless of the sport - the end of 60 minutes [Applause] what a day for this mayor's defense we just haven't been able to slow this rush down you know screens drawers something watch watch these four guys come off the ball they're just they're dominating inside it's not just one guy either it's it's all four of them pushing the pocket that was Justin Blaylock Brian hit 14 times five sacks four bears [Applause] it's the back of the end zone the Bears will take over on downs with 242 on the clock leading this season opener by ET well foxes football coverage does it end where the games are always stick around for the OT Kurt Terry Howie Michael and Jimmy will bring you in spending highlights expert analysis exclusive interviews and a look ahead to next week's action America's number one postgame show the ot presented by Lowe's tonight after a special sneak preview of The X Factor only they'll bail out to the 20 the Chicago Bears for the 32 12-lead theirs let 16 3 at the half - touchdown - the 57 second span in the third quarter the second scored by commanders now flocked by anthony Adams there he is Brian Urlacher they just had a great day today and playing at a very high level again to start the to start the 2011 season picking up right where he left off in 2010 he still loves a game they had the passion that he has for the game that's the thing that impresses me the most about guys who are you know 10 years 12 years 13 years in this league is how much passion they still have for this game the two-minute warning here in Chicago on 911 Bears lead 30 to 12 [Music] two minutes remaining here in Chicago circuited six for the Bears from their own 20 well it's kickoff weekend an exciting day of football around the NFL we will have four more late games coming up on Fox and for those of you the hole markets of those teams who will play in America's game of the win don't worry in a short while we'll get you there in time for the nine eleven ceremonies and the opening kickoff and we thank you for stick with us from Soldier Field in Chicago Bears are the Falcons not what we thought not what we thought this is the number one seat the number two seed from the playoff last year in the NFC and not a lot of people talking about the Chicago Bears coming in into 2011 season but they'll be talking about a mix inspired by the banners in a season opener in 16 years fifteen Jay Cutler has thrown for 312 yards couple of touchdowns at Forte 90 yards receiving 68 on the ground 158 at all and Brian Urlacher of the defense standing as well and for those of you in the whole markets of the late games at the moment you will be leaving us as we will switch you to the night 11:00 ceremonies and the start of your game [Applause] there's using the entire play clock great job by our entire crew here in Chicago our producer Barry Landes director Michael Frank associate directors Jeremy green and shrug to bask our broadcast associate Jill wheeler our technical producer Sid Trexler in technical director gaming McGavock the rest of our crew would be setting up for a couple of days for this season
