some days fly by quickly forgotten some have certain meaning some will be remembered in pieces some will be revered forever what will many in Chicago especially those Southside faithful remember about this day a day some feared might never come eighty-eight years in the waiting a day that could make a lifetime a day that could be today some White Sox fans are in attendance but the Astros fans are making noise hoping that their Astros and force a game five Chicago White Sox Houston Astro and now welcome to the broadcast booth everybody I'm Joe Buck Tim McCarver in just a second well here are the Chicago White Sox wondering if this is the day that for the first time in 88 years they get to celebrate a world championship or if it will happen within this World Series on the other side the Houston Astros trying to come back from a 3o deficit that's never been done in World Series history if the game of baseball has taught us one thing over the years it's that every time you think you have it figured out you're reminded that you know nothing you think you know who's going to win how they're going to win it we don't know we're just about to watch this game and for the Astros down three games to nothing consider that they've already had a formal wake here in Houston you go back to the first of June and look at the headlines in the Houston Chronicle rest in peace Houston Astros they were finished at that point well now they're in the World Series for the first time in franchise history let's see what happens here tonight Tim McCarver is my partner and Tim here are the White Sox up three games to nothing that one games in so many different ways can the Houston Astros come back and Willis can they of course they can but consider what confronts them I mean the White Sox have been playing a relentless branda baseball in the postseason it's been so good that a lot of people feel that they could beat any team from any era and all you have to do is pick a category pitching defense base running pinch-hitting consider this the guys who have won the last two games with home runs got cut said Mick and Geoff Blum last night had one home run this year one and they have two in the last two games tonight for the Houston Astros it's simple get a win in force game five tomorrow night they go behind Brandon backe a 27 year old right-hander for the White Sox their mission win tonight and celebrate no surprises for the Chicago White Sox in their lineup then that way the entire postseason deal with this group man sponsored by city on sending the lead off and laughs - gucci bat second at second Jermaine Dye hits third and right Paul Konerko cleans up the agh - out to the double last night Aaron Rowand and center till 3d of third Juan Uribe at shortstop of the pitchers Freddy Garcia batting in the nine spot Brandon backe 27 years old 10 and 2 in his career here at home overall during the regular season 10 and 8 his postseason no record in an ER a a four point nine one one optimistic thing about the astros it is that backe has a very good record here ten and two standard equipment means basketball two types of basketballs a curve ball slider and a splitter and I don't know if hope springs eternal but it springs eternal for one more night but zednik leads it off for the White Sox and the first from faculty away ball one they talked about it during our pregame Jeannie and Kevin that backe has worn a microphone for Fox Sports throughout the postseason and we've checked in on him from time to time bouncing around the dugout screen and now his teammates are counting on him to make this series last at least one more night he is full of energy he's going 100 miles an hour and he can talk to Phil garner he doesn't think that's a bad thing during the regular season he says maybe you have to slow him down but in the post season maybe some of that adrenaline to make him do things he wouldn't normally be able to do asked her is trying to feed off that tonight there's a 1-1 to Podsednik strike two Fox Trax will allow you to keep track of it all back he started to walk away thought he had strike three instead it's ball two lower than the last curve when umpires Darrell Cozens but said they do this time after time after time will be known for the homerun what he has done to the opposing pitcher and working deep counts getting on face six in the postseason invaluable that's in the air to left-center slicing to Berkman well you know the left we see how the Astros cover the field and watch a bi-state farming center it's Tavares right Jason Lane no changes to the lineup tonight Phil garner field Ausmus do we got one out here's a Gucci and a new baseball for Brandon back Chicago White Sox such a diverse team as we said in the opening with their power pitching defense base running not again also they very diverse cultural to say perfectly appropriate here on Latino night I hope you enjoyed the pregame great Hispanic players of the major leagues honored present valid away one ball one strike 24% big league rosters are made up for players Twitter equal to Dominican Cuba Mexico and Venezuela 40% in the minor league here's a 1-1 a cop David Ortiz in attendance tonight part of the celebration is sticking the bat out and poking it to Lane more about Brandon backe 27 years old he started the minor leagues as an outfielder childhood idols are his teammates Vigi owned Bagwell that's nice politically correct answered he was acquired from Tampa Bay in 2003 for Geoff Blum last night's hero with his 14th inning home run for the White Sox here's Jermaine Dye 4-1 alum is 32 years old with his 15 most unlikely heroes on either roster stepped up go back in front last night for good talk to him before the game Blum is a guy who wife gave birth triplets during the spring he's got four daughters all in diapers he got a 22 month old also you see that hair standing straight up and you know why there's a reason for it with two out here's a - OH the main guy who's at bat last night in the fifth in it was extraordinary being pitched inside by Roy Oswalt wearing one to Center and that any White Sox winning last night playing 14 to the top of the 14th and you talked with five hours shot into right-center field and die has at least two centerfielder Taveras gets it back to Biggio and dye was content with a two-out double and they've been one out perhaps Jermaine Dye would have thought about third but with two you can't take a chance it's ball rocketed to right-center field one up Roger Clemens and he doubles with two out in game for last 37 games against now 373 with 10 home runs in 28 are two out double here is Konerko breaking ball stays upstairs ball one back he was born in Galveston Texas lives in League City Texas shir set a career high in victory pitch starts and strikeout to our double work now bender first strike one notice a high curveball a lot of pitchers can't throw a good curveball from the stretch they need the power of the wind up to generate the break in the curveball both curveballs have been high to Konerko and I think the Angels know what Konerko can do with high curveball yeah tipping temple out first inning games three and four in Anaheim 1 1 pitch and into the one on deck is Pierzynski Konerko a guy who as we mentioned early in this world series is without a contract fast this year but also a guy as made ozzie guillen happy my not talking about it for one is focusing on what he has for the 2005 lights up there's a 2-1 we won what s Konerko done this pro season during the season he had his second straight year with 40 home runs and over a hundred RBIs was the ALCS MVP in this postseason five homers 15 RBIs the all-time franchise leader in those categories but as he said most important thing that's happened to him birth of his first child his son Nicholas I know it's chump change to what Konerko at the ALCS three balls in the strike runner at second two out first-inning Konerko at a rip the average person walking down the street we like to have that built into it that I wasn't trying to be I wants to see the top of the first and take a look at the lineup for the Astros no changes brought to you by City Michiyo leads off to Paris bat second Berkman is in left and ensberg lamb and Lane Ausmus Everett the shortstop Brandon backe a good hitting pitcher batting 9th visio chops it foul when he talked to Phil garner before the game one of the first questions we asked is whether he toyed with the idea of changing his lineup around after last night's futility trying to hit with only two hits total from the fourth inning through the fourteenth is that he toyed with it but decided against it as the pitch misses up and in from Garcia one ball one strike Garcia a 14 game winner during the regular season and so far - no this postseason white socks have done such a good job with the opposition and not allowing them to get comfortable not allowing them to have multi-run leads need to do tonight reestablish their opt-ins it has disappeared last night funny thing is the justification for not changing his lineup by Phil garner was because he thought that these guys were do but I know that ensberg is a better hitter than a 100 average I know physio is going to hit better Lam is likely to walk into a pitch and change the direction of a game by hitting a big home run these guys who do for some hitch Berkman has done his part and Virg has struggled but garner said well I'm going to throw him back out there again Everett he stays in the game and in the lineup because of his defense because the White Sox put the ball in play one ball no strikes on Taveras showed bunt the first pitch first filling out the sacrifice is good 5/3 and Biggio gets down to second base Creed he had a shot at Visio he really did I think he assumed with Visio speed that there's no way that you're going to have a shot at him but because the ball was hit in the air that meant that treaty had a shot at second page instead he takes the sure out begin to varus Tavares had 30 bunt hits during the regular season was number one in the National League in that category last night he popped one up trying to bunt this time he almost popped one far enough to get into greedy remember in last night's ninth-inning was first a third one out to Baris up against the Orlando Taveras struck out when some in the park we're looking for a punt and a squeeze play when one out Berkman takes ball one he said the Astros with only two hits both by Jason Lane a home run and a double to tie for Houston but they had 11 walks in the last 10 in it all lovers from the ninth inning on they were handy at a hit batsman and error it's for Berkman one ball one strike and the end of the night the Astros had left 15 runners on and so had the Chicago White Sox ready Garcia has had problems in the first inning he is the first starter who is up to clench for the White Sox and that's what asahina's tried to preach to Freddy all season start the game like there were men on faced with that type mentality instead of being relaxed when you start here's a 1-1 Berkman Strike 2 and to support that Garcia during the season with runners in scoring position opponents hit only 195 against him for the bases loaded 143 so he seemed stupid tighten up and pitch better when he's in trouble we've got a runner at second here one out score the bottom of the first at Game four of the World Series Berkman strikes out and now it's up to Morgan ensberg who has really struggled in this series so with two down we look at the defense and out of White Sox cover the field brought to you by State Farm the outfield but Zednik rolling to die Creedy Uribe Iguchi Konerko on the infield and AJ Pierzynski again doing the catching for Freddy Garcia who was originally signed by Houston back in 1993 is a 17 year old in Venezuela that drops in for a strike to ensberg you can see the type series that Morgan has had that off-balance when he landed on that left foot he was off-balance more than any hitter on either side he is caught in between the worst thing that can happen to a hitter even in his stance one ball one strike something to garner talks about this timing is off he doesn't know exactly what he wants to do starting with that wide open stance striding into the pitch I've been away too long on deck is Mike lamb that had to playtest ensberg rounder to the right and the cleanup hitter for the Houston Astros Morgan ensberg still struggling off we go to the 2nd no score White Sox and Astros as we go to the 2nd there is no score here in Houston who's keeping score Barbra Bush watching every pitch as here last night five hours 41 minutes up first up is AJ Pierzynski Aaron Rowand and Jill Creedy five six and seven hitters for Chicago and here since key drills backe fix-it-up says he's okay one out you know we didn't get a chance to him to talk about the play he made to end the top of the first and it probably saved a run and here he turns into a wall knocks it down and gets the out he went from saving a run to saving a serious injury on that line drive by Pierzynski that was a terrific play to end the first inning Brandon backe is part of a young group of Houston Astro players that are about as a pleasent a group is you're going to run across guys that are wide-eyed taking it all in very confident players I think that even continues with the Astros down three games to nothing we talk to guys like Burke and we talk to guys like Lane and backe and some of the others that filter this roster for Phil garner and he didn't get any sense being around their Clubhouse that they thought they were defeated already growing Jeff one two third down to Chris Myers chose us to play off what you were saying about the Moodle but one team facing elimination another one close to closing things out I asked Phil garner about having a special meeting since in a sense he called out his team a little bit after last night's marathon loss he said no we don't need a meeting these guys know what they're up against I talked to AJ Pierzynski and he's a week we have to take care of business we don't want to give him any life we got him down we want to stomp on if we want to crush him we want and I said alright I got the idea all right Chris X put two out nobody on he's pretty ball one down and away Gardner said if I have one more meeting they're going to laugh at me I've had four meetings since I said I was going to have anything I know we're supposed to take this one seriously down just the kind of season to did AB they've been able to come back start at 15 and 30 team to get to postseason baseball since the early 1900s the one point there were as many as 15 games under the 500 line is it - Oh freedom - ball and no strike breaking ball in a fastball count with two out of nobody on 93 miles per hour for granted back it's always good to follow a breaking ball on you behind in the count with a fastball because the breaking ball slows the back down a fastball makes and fouled the ball off was pretty just kidding it's not exact and it's a good class full count breaking ball misses inside kratie two home runs in this series to the lights off pops it this part still fans come to life is good my clam Jason Lane Brad Ausmus for the Astros of the second no score Freddy Garcia dropped one in for strike one lamb in this world series 1 for 8 a home run and his first World Series at-bat one ball one strike is in the second base what about it lamb gets a fastball and tails out over the plate and just hammers into right field in this going out of the ballpark five they are trajectory getting plums on the question after he hit it was if he hit it high enough he did lam dick it's a double and here's Jason Lane ball one high presents been popping up the foot year second base the lamp is bounce off is a big lead a little closer ball one strike last night torch Jeff come put the white socks on top for good fouls it off to the right you know Blanc you talk to Z about it before the game Tim I said did you think at all of putting Pablo Ozuna instead of got his lineup card out of his locker I said look I had Ozuna in there and right at the last moment he changed his mind to put a guy like Blum a switch-hitter in there to bat left-handed against Astacio he still had a Sunnah written on his lineup card and glomp hits the home run white out comes in handy for managers huh here comes a one-two pitch runner at second nobody out Lane two you're hot you're hot if your eyes again the season with a white socks plump it was picked up in August from San Diego buddy around Chicago said are you kidding that's who forget it series of the guy that we're at it for the postseason roster is Geoff Blum he had no RBIs the last two months of the season last RBI was August 30 a pitch to hit still choo-choo one made that deal look fantastic rated him for a minor leaguer that Smile has not left his face since early this morning as a sociologist they at the University of California in socially accepted what hi White Sox clubhouse become here's a tutu strikes out Garcia comes up with his second strikeout of the night good breaking ball from Garcia that's a thing in Europe it's a strike can you got it one of those pitches will work like a strike it wasn't now it's Oscar only two RBIs this entire postseason in 53 at-bats go home 47 during the regular season on the inside corner strike one think about this White Sox rotation early through 236 2/3 innings levy al garland 221 Contreras 204 Garcia 228 takes a load off your bullpen see I'm missing outside one ball one strike and they have a kid Brandon McCarthy a young right-hander who they love we went 3 and 2 and 12 starts one ball one strike on Ausmus foul ball for strike two its Jill West the third-base umpire tonight the once it goes by the bag it's the third-base umpires call and you could see that ball would have been fair had it not hit the cutout and taking a left one more time going so Ausmus naughty without add it all the way back and really did it wanted to old-school Astros rainbow uniform the astrodome became the Astros in 1965 when they moved into the dull 1962 their first year they were the colt 45 and with Uribe playing around behind my clamp Garcia steps off Garcia won Game three the division series at Boston went five innings he won Game four of the ALCS in Anaheim a two complete game about two months on six - - sometimes who's covering second base can be an indicator as to how teams trying to pitch you if the shortstops covering with a right-handed hitter up that means he'll probably pitch you away because the second baseman has to hold his position that's why toying with lamb at second base is the shortstop Uribe and not Iguchi stuck him out looking and that's back-to-back strikeouts after the double three on the night for Freddy Garcia Ausmus knew it it's time for our lunesta trivia question who is the last pitcher to throw a complete game in the World Series we've have to notice the White Sox came in in his World Series with four straight to complete games in the ALCS two-out it's up to Adam Everitt for one whenever you say we have to know this the chances of me knowing it are remote but I said we go on in there with you lambs ball missed getting out by three feet he's a double instead of a homerun it takes a hit from every Jew a no first base he'll put the pitcher on deck back he could swing the back back in to 46 lifetime hitter and of course Houston fans try not to get ahead of themselves and worry about who's starting tomorrow night because they have to win tonight but it is a big question around town will Roger Clemens start if you ask those windows evening Everett fouls it away it's two and one last night for five hours and 41 minutes the Astros had no trouble getting guys on at times they were able to move them over but they could not get them in in this postseason Adam Everett over more team with runners in scoring position on the count here too a lot right down the middle two two good breaking ball from Garcia he was very adept at getting his curve over in basketball situations he's done it several times in the first two innings see only 29 years old right in his pitching crime is to to Everett to birth and the throw for the out a wasted leadoff double by the Astros Lam hit it and then he sent launched with the rest of us third inning Houston no score game for the White Sox we'll send in Juan Uribe Freddy Garcia and Scott Podsednik knitters for Chicago no score third inning ball one up and in from BAM Brandon backe Uribe has four hits in 12 at-bats two RBIs in this series one Oh popped up in the center resting ready Garcia will step to the plate he'll tell you he's got a lot of power and Garcia doesn't like bad food with him so he's going to ruin somebody else's back Jimmy oh I don't know Konerko yeah because American league pitchers with a designated hitter they don't get a chance to order bats so naturally they use the regulars and regularly none of them like them well what do you think does Freddy Garcia look like the rock there's the tale of the tape Freddy from Venezuela Hayward California for the rock I see it a little bit here's a pitch inside little down from backing to good athletes hooking up with two pitchers tonight Garcia part of that pipeline that the Astros have enjoyed over the years from Venezuela she's one into scenter get a good rip Taveras is two down Tim at one point the Astros at Johan Santana Melvin Mora they release Carlos Guillen who went into deal with Freddy Garcia for Randy Johnson and Bobby Abreu for Venezuela the Astros signed all of them gray U is the only one to play for Houston he did so briefly he's a terrific player was the homerun champ at last year's all-star game they have an Academy the Astros do in Venezuela and Andres Ryder is responsible for finding all of that talent Garcia part of it when he asked those and as we said dealt in July Randy Johnson is but Zednik with two out ball one Randy Johnson helping the Astros reach postseason that year and then losing twice to the San Diego Padres the Padres eventually faced the Yankees to the World Series you could win a lot of games with that list of players right that's inside well you know that's what organizations do when they sign players they sign them with the intent to get to the big leagues they don't care with what team they may use that player as trade bait to get this Podsednik into right-center field a 2o pitch that isn't ripped Lane is out to get it but said Nick will test physio got a shot to get on the throw and safe at third is Scott Podsednik rather risky with two outs you have to know and make sure the second triple of this world series for Podsednik mention the home run it's not very because Jason Lane missed the first cut off man if he hits the first cut off man then perhaps everything would have had a change perhaps so now with two out Podsednik at third here's a chance for the white sox to take a game for lead and it's Tata hito a Gucci at the plate this postseason came in to this game as a 171 hitter against right-handed pitching with 11 strikeouts he flied to right his first time up to deliver a two-out RBI hit a key works from the windup short becky has pitched three scoreless who'll leave it off no school our lunesta trivia question who is the last pitcher to throw a complete game in the World Series the answer Josh Beckett Game six of the 2003 World Series of five-hit shutout took the crowd out of it had happened at Yankee Stadium and he was so brilliant but he just kept waiting for the Yankees to do something waiting waiting and the next thing you knew the game was over thanks in large part to the pitching of Beckett not only in that World Series but the entire postseason in 2003 and that was the same World Series who may remember where Roger Clemens had the standing ovation and then announced his retirement after the World Series of a standing ovation when he left game for masters retirement and then signed with the Astros the following spring Andy pettite breaking ball strikes out backe looking at Garcia has run up four so the pitcher is gone and oh the leadoff man by the fans was a coach when Andy pettite worked out his deal here to Houston home towner Roger Clemens followed right after his videos took a ball from Freddy Garcia - no I think you can ask that question once again was Game one of the World Series this year the last time we will see Roger Clemens or will it be tomorrow night compelling the question is will we ever see him pitch again in a big-league uniform realize he was 13 and eight didn't get a lot of run support in at a 1.87 er eh it's not like out of gas single his first time grounds to Crede - up and with the bases empty Willington Paris will step to the plate sacrifice bunts his first time league is Tavares who skipped xxx got better and better as the season great start 1 and 2 in Chicago they're his numbers to the numbers other rookies put up the National League lady cuts it off that saved it he'll pretty ranging far to his left Astros going order fourth inning rolls in in Game four Chicago and Houston no score three four and five hitters for each side in this four double his first time up takes a strike and Brandon backe last night we were talking about how it was the most important game in Astros franchise history they had Oswalt on the bow they'd built up a four to nothing lead but it wasn't enough dye is on with a hit he's two for two game summary is brought to you by Verizon Wireless V CAST on said Nick his third triple this postseason that went for not in the third the Astros leadoff man reached in the first and second but Houston didn't do anything with it so far with runners in scoring position the Astros over five the white sox over two here is Konerko who bounced back to Brandon backe the pitcher in a good play and the top of the first strike one Chicago White Sox with a 69 million dollar payroll trying to secure the first World Championship for the White Sox in 88 years no balls one strike one on nobody out breaking ball from backe strike two Konerko waving at the first two pitches from backe very very good breaking ball throughout the postseason al Konerko just with two strikes he tries to take the ball to right-field up to two strikes he tries to pull the ball so look for an adjustment here by Konerko laid off it one ball two strikes I don't know if backe is blinking since this game has started he is focused pumped up so far he's put up three spoilers but he deals with a leadoff hit by dye Konerko Pierzynski to follow and then rollin ball two strikes I am tank tuna too now it's yuju we talk focus the part of Brandon backe here's Brandon talking about it I'm not going to mount I really don't see anything when I'm not throwing a mount I really don't see anything going on around other than the catcher and my teammates and nothing that's what's going to help me succeed in hopefully this game or in the rest of my career he's 2 and 2 on Konerko a dangerous Chicago hitter his first strikeout of the night that was a pitch the White Sox have not seen the straight change after three breaking balls away a fastball in and a changeup men of beauty see how out front Konerko worse good pitch by backe one on one out for Kaczynski sharp ground ball back up the middle actually a line drive that went into the body back to his first time up the bottom of this forest it'll be Berkman ensberg and lamb three four and five hitters for Houston to still do with a bat on his shoulder that's hot too particularly with the runner on at first being held on as he trying to take advantage of that hole on the right side you don't want to spot any a good pitcher one strike let's look now he wrote one foul down the right-field line going to Houston fans and hope tonight check on Jermaine Dye talk about Oh two counts one two counts if you make a hitter reach and he gets a hit there's nothing you can do about but you don't want to do him a favor and Pizza methods to the count still owned two Jim Hickey the pitching coach the saw moments ago sitting with Roger Clemens I think the answer to your question earlier about Clemens tomorrow night is nobody knows nobody knows if there is a game five tomorrow night if Clemens hamstring in Game four his o2 that is a good slider in off the play particularly oh and to the back he has presents key thinking inside from the ball he pulled foul hard then he grounded one foul or that slider down the right-field line here's insti with three hits and 12 trips one ball two strikes on the back strikeouts to us another diving slider hitters will let you know what kind of stuff you have Krasinski going after the bad slider in the dirt gives up the leadoff hit to die comes back to strikeout Konerko and Pierzynski you now work Rowand has hit the ball hard in his World Series right here in the 4th going down a good running situation because of all the breaking balls that backe who grows one out of the strike zone die Brandon backe who has won a grand total of 16 games in his as the Astros the check on Jermaine Dye Owen for in his career in four starts against American League teams Vicky RA of over nine during interleague wife go into Japan dr. Gary guy Yeti the hitting coach for the Astros before this game and asked him about back he said I just like to watch him pitch bounces around out there you get good stuff good breaking ball people around the country don't know much about him they will after tonight if he does well the White Sox extends this wolf miss Becky strikes out the side it'll be Berkman ensberg and lamb the three four and five hitters for the Astros bottom the fourth inning no score Berkman struck out his first time Garcia has struck out four while one got it in I put that outfit little shout out to NASA the space kid here's a 102 and up right now the Astros have a problem here's a - Oh Reno Garcia on three and I'll Berkman takes a strike three one Garcia hasn't walked anybody allowed no runs on two hits it's for Berkman one now the last time Bob looks at the play watches one foot to change is not quite as open there right of your screen open then he closes now he's wide open on the left three to close and later on indeed three stays closed and that tap toward first base his first time up an example of just how confused he is at the plate right now takes a fastball for a strike first it back all off balance back on his left heel that front foot serves as kind of a feeler to hitters as to whether it bats bird fouls it back and out of play it's got to be a disconcerting almost right nning feeling to be playing on the biggest stage in the sport and not confident in your swing as a cleanup hitter for a team or you can see again these more close words taking the first pitch and in the hole and that's when you're going poorly seems like you're in the hole all the time let's come up to the plate with it Owen too all one saw how his power numbers have dropped off since early September mr. garner said maybe Morgan can run into one a leadoff walk ensberg strikes out one on one out that's five strikeouts for Freddy Garcia the left foot Morgan ensberg first at-bat tonight wide open almost headed toward third second at-bat if you don't know where your front foot is because you don't know where your front foot is you can't pick the ball up very well on pitches middle half away you can't reach them no that's one of the problems with that open stance to begin with here's Lamb who almost hit a home run his first time off missed it by about three feet high off the wall in right and Garcia stays away ball one so five strikeouts to go with one walk and two hits it's the night for Garcia lamb is up lane is on deck takes off and on a hit and run lamb fouls it one ball one strike with the hit-and-run on you as the runner at first base you don't want to get picked off and you take two steps look back the power hitter like but the Astros offense is desperate but he's just looking for any spark to get this team going I am delivered that double leading off in the second and then back-to-back strikeouts and a groundout that was it a leadoff hit by Visio in the first month lights of Eris got him the second person struck out and Burt tapped back to Garcia we made snick named the swing of my clam the thing way away from his body as he waits for a 1 1 1 outfield is for the most part straightaway every time you take a shot of centerfield here in Houston vacuum and blinked yet realize how big centerfield is here at this park here comes a 2-1 down the left-field line foul 2 & 2 they call it towels Hill wanted some unique aspects to this part first year news mm and that hill and their flagpole out there in playing to get it out straightaway center for 36 two balls two strikes on lamb a duty first a second to get the lead man to out good play by Tadahito Iguchi as he cut down Berkman at a it's a good play by Berkman too had he been running on the outside part of the line perhaps that ball hits it it's a perfectly legal play Eddie stanky used to talk about when you're going in the second base like that try to shield the ball from the runner see if he's out here instead of in here perhaps the ball bro so a Gucci gets Berkman at first two out here is Jason Lane Lane struck out his first time takes ball one inside still wondering where the offense is going to come from for these Astros a leadoff walk ensberg struck out and grounded out sit down and wall on a strike try to clarify that if the runner is running from third on a something hit ball if he runs out here you can still touch the base if he runs in here the shortstops going to be in this area there and if you slide you actually make it easier for the shortstop to see the ball watch Berkman he stands up and that's the proper thing to do but he runs back inside the shortstop has a clear view to catch the ball a fourth shot to end the end a leadoff walk the Astros strand their third and we go to the fifth inning of a scoreless game for back after this from your local station Brandon backe has worked for scoreless he has scattered three hits struck out the side last inning and here is pretty to start it treating Uribe and Garcia bottom three in the lineup for Chicago his interest rate good tight break to these deliveries from backe own one Grady flied to right his first time up oh and to he's out for his pitching coach Jim Hickey visited with Tim McCarver Jim Hickey with Brandon backe throwing so well tonight your your thoughts about him thus far well my thoughts about him thus far are he's probably as close to a prototypical american league pitcher as anybody we have on the staff you know in the terms that he can throw the off-speed pitches in fastball counts and started with off-speed pitches teams got poor legitimate pitches and he's following his game plan to a tee and then portion of the difference is the ability to execute a pitch which has gone so far it seems like what he is doing exceptionally well is working both sides of the plate well he's working both sides of the plate and the key is that he stays on that outside part of the plate one who wants to go to that outside part of the plate that's where he has a tendency to get troubling the ball starts to come back a little bit he's done a great job so far his chant clause available the secret jet calls his available decisions evening he said he felt okay we probably wouldn't using for that being said you know you just never know what's going to happen but I to morning throughout Tim thank you very much all right thank you inches away from five consecutive strikeouts back we uh know ensued through this and thought he had your rebound to be outside and now with one out the one two case you're wondering the world series record is sick four consecutive strikeouts in backe is it five with a pitcher Garcia coming up I was thinking the same thing he's got a chance to tie it with Freddy Garcia coming up five in a row excellent breaking ball he got hit by dye in the fourth and then struck out Konerko Pierzynski Uribe h2no on Garcia the spot where we talk to garner I was thinking about slowing back you down now he goes behind the bow his back to home plate took a deep breath his back on top with a 204 Garcia who can swing the back back he was five six years old his dad Nick Dan top him a hot rocks because he bounced around so much we can strike out six in a row in the two and two on Garcia Ausmus Everett backe will bat for Houston in the bottom of the fifth it scoreless in Game four we move into the bottom of the fifth Ausmus first stop then he shoots one into Center a leadoff hit for Houston that is the fourth time in the first five innings that the Astros have put their leadoff man on the end of the bat into centerfield and with the bottom part of a lineup it's very difficult to cut with the guy that you would normally with the cars nose the picture is in ignite the vacuum is a good hitting pitcher but is he better than ever so we'll see how kleiner grows right here Willie we'll be one of the two first pitch nothing on a ball down it away Garcia's head good velocity tonight add the ability to get the breaking ball over behind in the count this racked up five strikeouts as has Brandon backe good time to hit and run right now because Everett is ahead of the count and the pitch out is remote cosmas hidden runners on and out over the even with the hit-and-run on treaty and Iguchi turn a five four three double play but cat-like instincts for joke reading the backhand drawing the second base knowing full-well and you're still going to get Everett because the ball was hit so hard that is a terrific play once again by joke breeding he has been everywhere the White Sox in the postseason the Ausmus went in with his left leg up and effort to take out a Gucci and so doing it took him a little longer to get to the bag and the throw by treating feed room then the double-play five four three and the White Sox have done that this entire postseason one ball one strike count you're right that hit and run was on even with it is wrong result he was trying to take matters into his own hands trying to put the Astros ahead that's one slider to cooperate with two down to two it's obvious though with the two at-bats that we've seen we've got a matchup with two guys who are on tonight with her stuff on the mound and two guys who can swing the back the bases empty two out back he pops one down the right-field line Konerko gives it a look that can't get there the state of baseball history October 26 1997 the Marlins who were formed in 1993 became the fastest team in baseball history at the time to win a World Series title with a 3-2 win over the Indians more information Major League Baseball can log on to foxsports.com on MSN keyword Budweiser will count now on backe he hits at the third pretty the Astros despite the fourth time in five innings putting their leadoff man top of the order for each side game poor is still scoreless White Sox have three hits tonight back he is struck out five and Podsednik grounds to short ozzie guillen ozzie guillen your team is up three games to nothing how do you guard against your team relaxing now thinking that this thing is in the bag well he's not he's not in the back I think in my genes confirm take one game at a time we know kinda anything yet I think now we gotta keep playing play hard to play the way we cling all year long these two pitchers tonight seem like they're on backe is showing you good stuff and your guy Garcia is good good well Mikey let's get people out of a design even a lot of sliders behind the con and I keep honestly we go slighted and right now we have him a little trouble to Lincoln content I watched you during that entire celebration for the Latino legends that was something that was special here before tonight's game well it was amazing nothing is uh we did the recognition now we know did it before and the limb is not inflated like a total active manager people get the recognition to two countries or something you feel proud about it I see thanks for your time good luck but I talk about a teens awareness whele one ball one strike one out nobody on hey cutie two times in this advanced show front and that's what they think of the stuff of Brandon backe they see tuned in late Juan Marichal was the starting pitcher on the walked out took his place the middle his gun was the toughest pitcher ironface one Wow joined out there I had and Oh was out there they are such a rod Edgar Martinez Rod Carew Pudge move on Pedro Martinez ball two strikes vacuum 80,000 stood out of chrismyers at Joe you know you were talking about Ozzie guillén moments ago during that ceremony he was somewhat emotional saying watching his roots he related a little bit but the World Series game tonight being broadcast in twelve different languages and in 246 different territories it truly is the world one ball two strikes on a Gucci Mackey trying to put them all roller tough play for Everett fair hand Phil garner kept Everett in the lineup tonight that's it 250 was forced to bare hand the ball and make the play you see a lot of third baseman bare handing the ball but rarely do you see a shortstop he has too far to go can he play by every how about these swings of the White Sox hitters are getting against back one drops a little low ball one to Jermaine Dye who has two of the three hits the whites up a double in the first a leadoff single in the fourth and then backe started striking everybody out you know the funny thing is this World Series the White Sox are up three games to nothing but every game is nail-biting with clothes under this tree by 14 minutes seven to six win on the walk-off home run by Podsednik after the Astros tied it for the two-out two-run hit by this guy you know in a 5-3 win for the White Sox in Game one they tacked on an extra one of the eight 4x 2 & 2 fans join major league baseball in our efforts to rebuild the Gulf Coast support Habitat for Humanity calling 1-800 habitat onto mlb.com habitat.org Vizio first up sixth inning let's see leak the Commissioner of baseball what a banner year it was this year across the major record attendance great races the wild card what fun was that tracking that down the stretch and it was the Astros clinching on the final day to hold off the Phillies drop down the front since key gets the out and put out two three play by Pierzynski notice how their hands it's on that right foot to get something on the bro so with one out willing to bear his steps in he's old for one with a sacrifice body grounded out in the third Garcia why driving the right is a hip mark Burley who got the save last night is wearing a microphone down on the bench for Fox bullets Mike Rettig low of the umpires head where the light is way up there like top of that row is like the light you sound it's light and then it's dark over there's a first time through he looks like a Sox shirt but it's like all little dancing came out of the bullpen last night to get the final out with two on and two out and his team up by two and the 14 he got Everett to pop-up it was the starter got a no decision in Game two one seven a lot four runs on seven hits got to use his speed and try to get a jump in steel abyss Berkman is at the plate to varus stole 34 bases during the regular season and does not have one in the postseason different ways to try to get something going offensively you're out Garcia two analog circuits predict good the left-handed batter up because a catcher has a tough time seeing the runner across the left-hander the batter's box that'll let you know from the pinch they'll say very go you know he's going got a little bit bigger lead right mr. chair like I just know that's that's that's his game yeah that's right that's right and he hasn't used it no he's not in the lineup to hit home runs he's in the lineup to get on and try to steal bases and he has not done that of course it's not a good running situation cause you're trying to get Bergman even if the next pitch is a strike a chance to now Aubert been on four pinches and puts two on with one out but again it's Morgan ensberg who finds himself the position to do something for Houston he's over to he's tapped back to the pitcher struck out and has not looked good two plate appearances against Garcia tonight no score bottom of the six then in game four the World Series the White Sox leading this series three games the straight one you can see Garcia keeping the ball away in a way in particular with ensberg and his hidden stash going to hitters has confused as Morgan has been throughout the series you don't want to feed born into his wheelhouse just watching too bearish down he was so committed getting off the second page away again and this time to far away one ball one strike speed of willing to bear leading off second like you would first being held on Morgan ensberg hit 36 home runs during the regular season he has one this postseason came in Game two in this World Series he is 2 for 16 again garner keeping him in the lineup and in the cleanup spot hoping left as he said he can run the game a mistake by Garcia and a foul ball buy-ins burg and hits designed to be out there it was up and in a front part just opening now it's you two full count runners at first and second one out a board to send the runners and 4,000 trying to press the issue and push it forward garner sends the runners despite the struggling Morgan ensberg being at the plate with two strikes on it if your presents key what they may have third baseman joke greedy and grow through in second because Berkman is so much slower than Cabarrus the offense bird swings through and bird strikes out Pierzynski has no throw himself on his way back to the dugout at second and third two out and my clams coming up this is a mistake you can see Pierzynski setting up outside the basketball tails inside and Garcia happy that he got the strikeout of course you have two runners advance on the double steal but the key play was the strikeout of ensberg and now Isaac Ian out to talk to Garcia about what their strategy will be with first base open the left-handed hitting lamb up and Lane on deck so while they talk tell you this week it's a Fox NFL Sunday doubleheader beginning with a showdown between bitter NFC rivals as the Redskins take on the Giants that's turned into a good game then the Eagles visit Denver to battle the Broncos or other regional action it all begins with America's number one pregame show this week at noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox that will be a special game with the passing of Wellington Mara the Redskins and the Giants renewing that rivalry lamb one for two tonight doubled and bounced into a force out the Astros were looking for a big hit with five innings last night could get it now they need one out of my clam this postseason is over eight runners in scoring position looks more like they'll pitch around lamb and work Delaine presents keep looking over to the dugout yet clearly what Garcia is trying to do is to get lamb out on pitches out of the strike zone and now they're just going to walk situation.the Lance Berkman Berkman and extra innings last night so an intentional pass to load him up Jason Lane who delivered a key to out RBI double in the eighth inning to tie last night's game at five walks to the plate Blayne in the postseason is good 46 Center here at home the road tonight over to strike one on the inside corner just catching the corner the lang when after a bad ball down and away and Joe and two I think Jason's going to see that pitch again no sense in coming back in with the bases loaded come back inside does he go on the theory that he's already set up outside fouled back how if you're Jason Lane or any Astro hitter in this situation do you not press your down three games to nothing your offense has been shut down you're dying for a key to out hit you're getting an unbelievable pitching performance here you are set up at on two now facing nasty right-hander the third and foul to Konerko Pierzynski and Rowand I found will get out of play you come into this world series talk about pitching matchups in pitching you will dominate the big names like Andy Pettitte knew Roger Clemens and Royals law but rarest to the ladies big burly darling and the pitcher's duel that we finally have before us is between Freddy Garcia do it again says Garcia go through the sequence on attacks you'll have to do that with a runner on at second base change things around since key blocks it Garcia let the major leagues in wild pitches with 20 he shared that dubious distinction with Jose Contreras his teammate good play by Pierzynski left arm of AJ Pierzynski just saved a run with a speed of Willy Taveras the lead man and third also a franchise record one ball two strikes bases-loaded two out no roller foul after getting to quick strengths on lane Garcia having trouble putting them away Freddy Garcia approaching 100 pitches for the night strikes out on a pitch up and in and the inning is over the Astros have stranded six we go to the seventh inning Lane in the battle ends up losing to Garcia still no score in Game four back after this from your local station now Jason Lane is left to ponder on the bottom of the sixth inning ended on that strikeout by Freddy Garcia and the reaction at Jimbo's the Southside that's what it looks like from behind the bar at Jimbo's and Garcia Freddy Garcia getting congratulated in the dugout after getting out of that 6th inning Jam now in the 7th of four five and six hitters for the White Sox means Konerko Pierzynski and Rowand against Brandon back makya struck out six walked nobody allowed three hits one Oh last night after the game ended Phil garner went right to the media session said if we had played 40 innings it looked like we were never going to score it was apologetic the way his offense before in Game three even last night and he was angry at the performance here after the home run swagger that ergo pops it straight up in the left what a nice for branded back a scarab Konerko to start the top of the seven six and a third no runs three hits six strikeouts to no walk so for a guy who's pumped up brenell enforcing through those pains he has not walked anybody here is AJ Pierzynski foul ball toward the Houston dugout John Sakata did a fantastic job with a star-spangled banner before the game on the heels of the Latino legends celebration new album out same dream and at the break here after the top of the seventh lyle lovett will be performing god bless america will it still be nothing nothing in the seventh Pierzynski and/or Rowand do something about this students time now it's alright - up and coming up empty let's take a look at six strikeouts of Brandon backe to change up the Konerko and then he just wears out that area of the plate low and away to right-handers with that slider for the 4th strikeout he gets Jermaine Dye or strikeout number six picture-perfect on that call just out of the strike zone for the White Sox hitters here's Roland to blow on it back back he backed up and then came forward he did he wanted that fastball you can't blame it now it's a good here's a 100 now back he is doing it again he's trying to calm himself down yeah think about that first picture was called a strike to Jason Lane the part of the sixth that first pitch to Rowand can understand the Astros frustration here is a - OH steep pitch on two and OH just wearing out that outside corner to right-handed batters for the count snap two and one two out nobody on rocky face it at the center slider stayed up and went the ball off the bat of Rowand in the inning will continue for joke reading remember this is the same White Sox lineup that adjusted to Roy Oswalt last night two times through the lineup that third time they started looking for the breaking ball Rouen appeared to be there it gets a hit Brandon backe had retired eight in a row before that single by Rowan so here's creating and white sox history was something big here in game four in this spot what a postseason he's had with the bat with the glove ball one back at 1:00 start to get loose you're approaching the 14th inning here is like reason creating on the other side if you look at the replay with Ozzie guillén brought in early here's going to bring it early for the rest of the 14th and that's tided Pablo Ozuna wishing for said I'll take my criticism and I'll move on and look ahead to Game four and said I I know I would have gotten ripped but I don't care you know what he says he doesn't care about maybe it doesn't guys say it can see right through it No strikes on 3d at the plate good throw by Brad Ausmus going back in time to the outside of the bag with Vizcaino getting loose for the White Sox in their pen he probably just untied a shoe and then retied it came out of his shoes just to slow it down one mistake the cross backe in the Astro pretty hits it in the air to last of a bird and its second and third with two out here in the seventh a double for Creedy and have almost got out that was a hanging slider Lance Berkman unnecessarily put up the decoy for Aaron Rowand you can see him facing home plate not going back on the ball but with two outs he's going to be running anyway so there's no sense of doing it halfway up the wall off with the pitch now the reaction from the Astros is Jim Hickey the pitching coach is going to go out and talk you've got your eBay up you've got first base open the pitcher spot is due up next Carl Everett is standing in the on-deck circle so the question is do you want to work to Uribe do you want to take your chances with Everett and the end result of having effort at the plate here in the top of the 70s you get Freddy Garcia out of the game a single followed by a double with two out of seven one more time except that there are two outs bass boat stops wind up Yury bail for 2 tonight 4 out of 14 in this world series is he going to deliver the key hit strike one been there all night long we'll see that pitch again the last tent with runners it still one ball one strike hit me and garner have never been so close 50 is right on Garner's back as they try to see if backe can get Uribe Uribe trying to put the white socks on top in the slider off the end of the bag down Rebate just got a piece of it or heart pounding action in this world series the spiky ball two strikes - seven he jumped halfway to the first base line to get off the field time to stretch right now we go to public address announcer Bob Ford and now ladies and gentlemen we kindly ask that you please rise and remove your caps as we honor America with god bless america perform tonight by four-time Grammy winner and Houston native mr. Lyle Lovett god Bless America land that I love stand beside her and guide her through the night with the light from above from the mountains to the prairies to the oceans white with foam oh god bless my record my home home sweet home America my ladies and gentlemen mr. Lyle Lovett Brad Ausmus is first up bottom the 7th inning no score White Sox 5 hits after the strength to Ausmus base hit leading off in the fifth added to his 571 on-base percentage with leading off an inning this postseason Dilek to Bank of America game summary ten o'clock in the central time zone Garcia is working in the seventh back he just got through to seven oh four seven runners in scoring position of the Astros open three the White Sox masters of death guys on but can't get him way 1 & 2 quick check at last night's game in the last 16 innings his Brandt legs is up and throwing the Astros last 16 minutes for the White Sox hit scored two runs the last 15 scored one run Dustin Hermanson now getting loose this kind overs up with the top little shovel Ausmus with a count of two and two pops it into right easy for Jermaine Dye one down Ausmus one four three and Adam Everitt will walk to the plate with a pitcher backing on deck Garcia at 100 pitches for the night Everett is bounced into a double-play even on a hit and run did that v ground it out in the second only one hit in this world series in 14 at-bats in the 8th inning for the White Sox it's the pitchers spot but zednik and Iguchi one ball one strike to Everett broken back player in the left centerfield in his Podsednik who takes it divot makes the catch two down and what a play by Scott Podsednik tearing up a piece of the turf in the process is left me digging into the turf here in Houston God appears to be alright fine play and now bad well is going to come off the bench and bat for Brandon vacuum so Phil garner is going to Jeff Bagwell hoping one swing take the lead here in the seventh problem is since his may second surgery the power has not to get there for Jeff Bagwell that's what he's done in this world series started the first two games is the D H 449 career home runs with two out back whoa takes a strike Freddy Garcia I'll tell you a lonely spot this ballpark tonight the middle of the plate those starters have stayed away from Bagwell trying to launch one you can see I'm different as swing is almost like it gets through the hitting zone and then it just stops that's why Jeff Whitman man shoulder is more of a lowball hitter because he can't get on top of that letter hide breaking ball or fastball his only hit coming on the low fastball from Bobby Jenks Bagwell takes a ball Jeff Bagwell has not hit a home run since April 29 career 297 hitter over 1,500 RBIs as I mentioned 449 Paul Braun's backe is still pacing in the dugout he's out of the game after seven shutout it tap to the second baseman the or goes to the a White Sox up three games to nothing Astros trying to force a game tomorrow night take the field in the Willie Harris is going to come off the bench and try to get it started for the White Sox here at the 8th for Freddy Garcia our John Hancock in-game box score but zednik as a hit - for die back-to-back hits by Rowand in 3d in the seventh but Uribe struck out he's over three and Brandon backe was terrific he goes seven no runs five hits no walks seven strikeouts Garcia's seven inning still runs four hits we wash one of them intentional and seven strikeouts and here is Brad Lidge the closer for Houston last night of that 14 inning game lid worked in hitting in the third struck out three Polly takes over for the White Sox in their pen so it looks like he will head to work in the bottom the same as Garcia is lifted for Willie Harris who's one for one this postseason this is only his third game candid batter is Harris both teams combined tonight 14 strikeouts nine hits no runs total over tenth with runners in scoring position strikes on Willie Harris that's after five hours 41 minutes of Game three and to add further to the effectiveness of Brandon backe tonight you heard that expression get the first out of the inning you've got the first two outs of every inning but the port I went off the with a single and then he struck out the side terrific job by both backe and Garcia here's a note to Aris takes a ball back he is still down there Payson yeah glaring and sure in some respect upset that he's not back out there for the 83 100 pitches Garcia threw 107 both guys went scoreless through the seventh a one to Herod to to there's a desperate team than houston astros getting seven out of backe and going to their closer Brad Lidge in the eighth in a scoreless game Harris starts it with a basin in the left he's two for two in the postseason will that spark something big for the White Sox Scott Podsednik will take in he went deep off Brad Lidge to end Game two the second home run of this postseason homeless during the regular year I don't think Scott will be swinging here I think the bun is in order yep but zednik at the plate in Carl Everett there's grabbed a bat he's in the on-deck circle under looks like he'll bad for Bootsy the part a good out fundamentally sound player gets down the sacrifice bunt scored one for with videotaping the throw and the go-ahead run at second with one on the 8th I'm fending making Lidge peel the ball and Brad's only play is the first base with the guy coming fresh off I don't think you pitch around him I think you go right after it we've got Jermaine Dye swinging a hot bat power of Konerko in the hole I think Phil garner and Brad Lidge their strategy right here is to go right after every every last night pinch-hit and the eighth got a base hit is the th this season for the White Sox time to dig in at the place go-ahead run at second one out the top of the egg ever - ah so Harris is 90 feet away - out here in the top of the egg back he is more nervous now than at any point during the first seven innings when you're out there you could do something about it from the dugout you can here's died he's had a nice night two out of three with a double a single he's struck out now deal with Brad Lidge lighter a lot of closers ever work from the windup lids does here with a run ball one strike as it's blocked by Ausmus between pitches this stadium sounds like a kid at 2:30 this afternoon and Lidge can get Jermaine guy the White Sox take the lead a two loud RBI hit by Jermaine Dye and Chicago is on top here in the top of the eighth Brad Lidge gives up another big run a continuing burden a good pitch to die right back to where no one is Harris got it started with a leadoff pinch-hit single bunted to second went to third on the groundout by Everett and scores on the hit by God we're wholesome Game five of the NLCS gives up the walk-off home run to Podsednik and now here in with his team gives up a two-out RBI hit to Jermaine Dye to make it one to nothing white sauce Konerko 98 miles per hour strike one that was an angry fastball the Konerko your main guy has never had a bigger hit in his life he leads from first with two out and it's Owen - on Konerko the Astros in the bottom of the sink without the top of their lineup the cliff politte on the bound for the White Sox talk about a big hit for Jermaine Dye what about Willie Harris one - its of two lives here in the check on died seven shutout innings from Brandon backe and then Brad Lidge comes in and gives up a run of the aid Willie Harris who hit 256 for Chicago this season started into the pinch here's a note to the Konerko the inning is over the damage is done got it started on Sunday tasks in for Chicago Rhonda we welcome the back bottom of the a fitting and finally there's a run on the board Joe Buck and Tim McCarver with you one to nothing Chicago out in front and here they are six defensive outs away from their first World Championship in 88 years Ozzie Guillen has gone to cliff politte the right-hander who appeared in last night's game but who didn't appear in last night's game everybody didn't except us stuff does Willie Harris stays in the game takes over at second base the pitcher politte will bat in the number 2 spot wherever it pinch-hit vigil first up and a strike over the outside corner cliff politte came up as a 24 year old in 1998 with his hometown team the st. Louis Cardinals bounced around since then River Philadelphia Toronto now the White Sox had a very good year he has handed a one-run lead in the eighth check swing ground ball foul it Silla - on video who's 1 for 3 that's the palete did against the opposition holding them to a 181 average during the course of the regular season zo2 all one despite Sox pitching during the postseason has been phenomenal but nominal Garcia tonight picks up where garland left off Burleigh beforehand Contreras they're big for and good work out of the bullpen here's a 1/2 from police popped up on the infield Paul the reason is kill cleaning was too deep guarding the line it's an easier play for Creedy but because of his depth the ball didn't have a lot of hang time Joe tried to one-hand it but the Astros get a break you no error on the play but a second life forbid geo starting the ade grounds to short hurry back run away Fitzie oh one for foreign Willie Taveras the step to the plate as Polly gets the lead on their White Sox trying to finish off the sweep tonight the 21 teams who have been up three games to none in World Series history 18 have gone on to sweep that includes last year the Boston Red Sox doing it in st. Louis Tavares ball one only one extra base hit tonight for Houston it was a double by Lam leading off the second and he never moved after that one out nobody on one ball no strikes one tavares live a single as last time I'm clearly trying to go to right field with those Swank top hand coming off the bat off the hand of Tavares and down to first he goes so another hit batsman in this series and Taveras caught it off his hand and he takes first base again you can see how far went believe this with that fastball here since he's setting up outside and the ball tailing inside and hitting the left hand of Willie Taveras and a postseason filled with controversial calls and guys being awarded first base when they should have been there is no doubt that Willie Taveras was hit by that pitch up and in for pulley Tavares gets looked at and we take a look back at the season for the White Sox the best 99 wins just left Boston Division Series four games to one one seven in a row during this postseason entering this world series Konerko added to that that Grand Slam he now has five homers 50 he is in the postseason he holds with Taveras running talked about how tentative Willy Taveras has been on the basis he's got Berkman up and someone surprising with tots ready to go the white sacks don't turn Berkman around and they can bat right-handed yeah because he's got the hole on the right side hitting left king have to hold Tamera song one down the second the wild pitch puts Damaris at second with one out look like a split fingered fastball gets away bird shits now they'll put Berkman on here in the eighth inning of Game four of the World Series and we and bird struggles Morgan ensberg at the plate what don't the right move to make you don't know how it's gonna work out bill Garner once again telling us before the game maybe in spurt we'll run into so far Wow that's about all he can say about his night he sold for 3 with a pair of strikeouts of God Cooper is now to talk left-hander and a right-hander are loose and ready to go for Chicago and their pen but here's politte who just hit a batter threw a wild pitch and almost threw it away when they were giving an intentional pass to Berkman twice agon Cooper a very good pitching coach and very smart I think he's out there to tell him about positioning don't throw him a fastball inside unless it's way inside off the plate don't try to get him out inside Cotts and Jenks are getting loose for the White Sox in their bullpen right now it's a battle between ensberg and cliff police big right-hander the air all one outside wall to outside on deck the left-handed hitting Mike lamb in centerfield Taveras tags goes two-thirds to out first and third two out is ensberg sent one to right-center and hit it to the wrong guy nobody gets a better jump on a bulb and Aaron Rowand he is all over the place in centerfield potential gold Glover the Maris goes to third ozzie guillen will go to the left-hander it'll be cots with lamp coming out first and third two out the eighth one to nothing Chicago Neil Cox has worked at five games this postseason two full innings one hit a walk two strikeouts he will pitch to josé Vizcaino to bat for Mike lamb member Vizcaino tied game two in the ninth inning with a two-out two-run hit that was batting left-handed now the switch hitter hits right hand it takes a ball from COTS lam lifted for the pinch-hitter did not go around Pierzynski pleaded with Darrell Cozens to appeal his bid jumping in saying that the bathroom around the body went around but it did not appear that that did nope is dying out - and 1:13 and 2/3 in a sense rose last board here's a pitch kind of spins out of the thinking that was down and in two balls two strikes first and third two one to nothing white socks and this guy you know bronze one solo close to the out and the white socks hang on to their lead a hit batsman a wild pitch a walk in the inning Uribe gets it to first in time to get Fisk I know it's still one to nothing White Sox after eight first pitch up and away from Brad Lidge AJ Pierzynski leads off the ninth-inning Vizcaino stays in the game he's at first pinch-hit for lamb one to nothing the White Sox lead ninth in a game for Chicago up three games to none the White Sox finished the regular season winning their last five including a three-game sweep in Cleveland after they had already clinched they're ten and one the postseason so they've won 15 of their last 16 you're five and on the road this postseason that's foul strike two off the bat of Pierzynski on deck is Aaron Rowand a two-out RBI hit by Jermaine Dye at the top of the eighth inning the only run of this game the one to Vince key fights it off the bottom of the ninth did will be Lane Ausmus and Everett with three scheduled hitters Mears in ski hooks one down the right-field line it's fair goes over to play it too a second with a double in ski with his first hit of the night trying to help the White Sox get a little breathing room here in the top of the ninth in it looked like a slider down and in he called it right Joe he hooked it down in the corner and legs out a double before the game tonight Ozzie Guillen said is talking about last night's game he said if Aaron growing in the second inning with runners on at first and second nobody out but we were playing the white socks with the pinch-hitter for the pitcher now is it they're in a bunting situation with Lola normally you wouldn't because the pitchers three spots away but here the wood Rowand bunts it foul you talked about it yesterday that Lidge has been a guy who is stood in front of the camera stood in front of the microphones talked about pudding last night's game behind him his struggles that he's had the few holes home run I've said that home run gave up the run of the eighth inning tonight after seven shutout innings from Brandon backe we all want going once it on how he got it down it will triple foul it's on - it was over his head had he not gotten that ball down it could have hit him flush in the face watch where this fastball is maybe not the face he's out over the plate a little more than I thought this is foul oh it too this Astro pitching has had to try and be letter-perfect because the offense where Houston has disappeared heritage village to keep it a one-run game the o2 struck him out I don't think that's a good play right there hitter he can hit a ground ball the other way when you bunted foul with two strikes you are out get the feeling by watching that that rolling did that on his own you certainly do okay Ghazi kyun would give a guy like Aaron Rowand a bunt sign with two strikes Aaron doing it probably doing it on his own trying to read Ozzy's feelings is not very difficult it's not not too hard no just look at his sleeve in case you have just joined us the Astros have not scored it's the eighth inning of last night's game 3 Jermaine Dye has three hits tonight but the biggest is two-out RBI single in the eighth Creedy at the plate Pierzynski at second ball one reading doubled his last time up in the seventh off backe Brandon came back to strikeout Uribe keep it a scoreless game one ball one strike breeding with 11 RBIs certainly taken the next step in his career runner at second one out late with that swing it's one of two about the ride that these Astros have been all a remarkable comeback 15 games under the 500 mark had to fight for the last with every pitch down the stretch winners in the National League the one-two it gets away from Ausmus is third strikeout for lids good play by Ausmus moving to his left and finishing the blood now it's Juan Uribe it's doing his best to keep it a one-run game and Lane Ausmus and everything scheduled hitters Boniface night steal leadoff double he's out there with two out we may grounds to third and we go to the bottom of the ninth inning last chance for the hometown Astros down three games to nothing Bobby Jenks the World Series for the White Sox so here we go into the bottom of the ninth inning of Game four White Sox three outs away from their first World Series title 88 Bobby Jenks the 24 year old right-hander takes over with Jason Lane Brad Ausmus and Adam Everitt the scheduled hitter the White Sox pound manager ozzie guillen 41 years old venezuela part of that shortstop pipeline from venezuela to the big leagues names like chico paris ball he passed away this year at a dear friend and inspiration to ezekiel louie aparicio david concepción Guillen this cow now as a 41 year old manager ozzie guillen has tapped jenks on the right children should go fishing Lane takes a strike Jason is open three one ball one strike indeed nine miles per hour six a screw Astros need a spark crowd in the rest of the lineup tonight has been shut out on four hits but you want 97 miles per hour it's 2 & 2 Bobby Jenks throws so hard that normally you would guard the line in third base and I think in this situation I can't see Jason Lane pulling the ball down the line not with the weight chances full count talked about it last night best chance for the Astros limit the ball down in the lane flares one into scenter that and the Eskimos have their leadoff man Houston's first hit since the sixth Jason Lane drops a little parachute in the shallow center now open the ninth the Astros steps the bottom the dugout China as awesome as steps here one for three tonight how will the Astros play down to second is the tying run sacrifice three poor off the bat of Oscar the Astros have advanced runners to second a couple to third but none home only one play for Konerko Peter get that out two hours away possibly a hit away Tigers ever it is called back Chris Burke is going to come on Berk is it to postseason home runs and the first hi birth this postseason 27 to homers for the eyes right down the middle too long this may be a small thing but I think I think Phil garner should announce his pinch-hitter right now because Brad Lidge is on deck and he's going to have to be responsible to tell him to run or what to court kitchens aren't able to do that two balls two strikes first one right through it a high fastball 14 good rip by Bert don't do it too drop that bass ball down about six inches and it's hittable astro still needing that perk pops it up an unbelievable grab as he pulls in out number two in the night what a remarkable play with his back facing first-base catching it and then tumbling into the crowd here at Minute Maid Park my goodness so now to out the White Sox one out away in Orlando Palmero will come off the bench to pinch it go ahead out to the mound to talk to Bobby James Joe pretty and the bad angle a rebate making the play the White Sox continue to prove that they can postseason games in so many different ways with pitching with situational hitting with moving runners along great defense as we just saw from Uribe and now their one out away from the championship the Astros have had 18 runners on pace since they last the eighth-inning of Game three they have left 18 men off it's Paul Merrill looking for the two-out hit blame the tying run hi for ball one Orlando Palmero play off to the right we've been showing you the scenes from Jimbo's bar what is this pain to the collection of neighborhoods like Beverly mount Greenwood Hyde Park back to the yards Marysville Bridgeport Irish neighborhoods Italian neighborhoods Polish Lithuanian firemen policemen schoolteachers stockyard workers they filed into the ball park on Saturday night saying this would this is what it feels like to be in a World Series they won Game one they won Game two in dramatic fashion they came to Houston last night in 214 innings but the White Sox got the victory and now they're worn out away from their first World Championship not since 1917 Mero trying to extend it one two tying run at second two out Palmeiro over the head of James Uribe charges goals and the White Sox have won the World Series Juan Uribe with a play charging it throwing it in the white side celebrate their first title in 88 years Juan Uribe with two plays for the final two outs of this world series that were breathtaking and for this team that for so long has been considered the second team in the second city no more the Chicago White Sox are world champions No Mas the Ozzie guillén is a world champion manager at 41 years old they will be celebrating in the streets of Caracas what about the plays made by one Arriva with one out a runner on at second base Chris Burke the batter the foul ball down the left-field line a rebate tumbling into the stands and then ends it with an equally dramatic play going to first base to just get Orlando Palmeiro back-to-back Uribe with a check of how far away from the stands he was and then making the catch tumbling into the seats for out number two then the chopper by Palmeiro he was out he was first base umpire Gary cederstrom called him out got the call right and the White Sox win the clincher in Game four wounded up last one nothing game to end the World Series back in 1995 when Tommy Glavine beat the Cleveland Indians the year was 1917 what was going on John F Kennedy and Harry Caray were born that year Woodrow Wilson was president Walt Disney graduated high school a first-class stamp cost three cents and there were 16 teams in the major leagues now in 2005 the Chicago White Sox have the respect of being world champion our Chevrolet player of the game Jermaine Dye Gove in the only run of the night the two-out base hit and and Lynch Chevrolet will make a $1,000 America's Chevy an American Revolution let's go down to Chris Myers there's no second seat tonight Joe 88 years on field of every night you know this team was laid with small ball in spring training that was going to be a way it was only right that we manufacturer might win a ball game just talk about the team they were all close games battle them out I mean it wasn't exactly a disco demolition night but you did this is eight straight into postseason hats off to the youth hostel they grinded it out from the beginning
