"It sure would be a lot more fun saying goodbye to Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace if we only knew they really wouldn't go."
Little did we know then Mark would race 8 more years after 2005
Was Biffle ever not old?
Pretty neat find, especially how a few drivers there are still racing past 40 today with no real signs of retirement yet. Its going to be a weird time for the sport when Dale Jr retires.
"i dont see myself racing past 40" -Ryan Newman is 38, 2018 retirement confirmed
"I want to make til im 40" -Kurt Busch is 37, 2019 retirement confirmed
"I dont see myself racing til im 50 full time" Kevin Harvick is 40, 2017-2026 retirement confirmed
"At this point i think i got a number 40 out there" Jimmie Johnson is 40, this will be his last year. #ThanksJimmie
"by the time im 40 they might not let me drive" Elliott Sadler, accurately predicting what happened to him in cup
Jimmie talking about refusing to retire to get some money, the following year he then goes on to win 5 straight championships.
"theres plenty of places to race, its just how long am i going to be here" As long as you avoid ATV riding in the desert Tony.
"Joe Nemecheck spending some time to play with his son" In a couple of years it'll be "John Hunter with his father who used to race too."
i miss Ken Schrader.....I went to see him run dirt lates at the local short track a while ago, he's a pretty chill dude
the track: I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE
also, i see Chase having a 15-20 year career, maybe 2 or 3 titles, Ryan Blaney will eventually go to Penske, maybe a third car, maybe not, who knows, i think what will help chase and ryan is that they started their cup careers at a really young age chase is only 20 years old, and ryan is 22, i could see them racing until their 50's so a 25-30 year career, which seems normal,
Kurt Busch in a Ford again, after 10 years
Man they looked so young
Interesting that the Biff thought that he would be done three years ago! Good to see careers lasting a bit longer than 40 in my opinion!
Junior didn't know he would be in the middle of something of a renaissance at 40.
