$2,000 Surron Battery Upgrade!

oh folks welcome back to the channel this is my pretty much entirely stock Saran we have a big upgrade for it which I've mentioned like a thousand times already it's one of two of the biggest upgrades you can do for these bikes that is a battery and the controller we have the same controller we're gonna keep the stock controller but we have a battery this right here is a gift from a shot Battery Systems thank you shot Battery Systems for sending this this is a new battery for the surround let's open it all right so let's see what you get the second you open it this box has been sitting under my desk for a while it's gonna be my first time seeing what you get in the Box as well also shot Battery Systems do you see this I am sorry for taking so long to uh do this but uh better late than never right there we go okay so you have a bunch of packing peanuts first thing you see and there's another box okay we're gonna get some peanuts right okay this is a smaller box take it that's probably a charger and then underneath that's probably the battery try not to get packing peanuts everywhere go ahead and pull this sucker out oh my God you've got that stuff on the battery there we have this nice little carrying case I think that's probably it probably a pack and slip in here but other than that these are the three things you get in the box when you buy a new shy battery they gave me the choice to get any battery I wanted and you guys know I am all about keeping my bike light if there's a battery that gave me even less power in range but it was 50 pounds lighter I'd take that one so I was like what's the largest battery you guys have said this one is definitely the last one we have it's still going to add some weight to your bike probably about 20 pounds who's gonna say no to a free battery from shy battery I mean they make the best stuff right as far as I know and do believe they said I have to replace the the base plate which is the plate that's underneath where the batteries kept we're gonna find all that out right now [Applause] so as you see when you open it it says right here x60m I pop some tape off this is a big battery okay so when you get all the bubble wrap off here is your battery it is Big it's a big boy I can definitely see the extra weight it is easily about 20 pounds heavier than the stock battery so keep that in mind it is going to give you more range and more power at the cost of weight if you're someone like me who cares about weight just know that that's uh the price you're gonna pay it's not really any other options for Batteries as far as uh something lighter so if you want to get a bigger battery for your storm they're all going to be heavy so keep that in mind so in the other box is a separate charger I guess you have to use this charger I assume if you get this battery I I'm going to use this one to charge it obviously I'm not going to try and use a stock one even though uh yeah so there's that and then and this thing I just opened there was a t-shirt which is really nice thanks and some hardware for mounting we're gonna have to figure out where this goes right now all right we are out here in North Hollywood California with the stock battery which is at 100 and then we have the shy battery which is a 68 respectable I was not able to fully charge it I actually don't know if there's accurate because every time I turn it on and off it's different it just said 68 now it's 64 66 going back up I think 68 is what it's at so we're gonna go with that I'm planning to do this is to do a lap in the exact same place twice first with the new battery and then second with the stock battery and see what the differences are I kind of give you guys a comparison of both so one major thing or stuff you got to line these up which is not hard oh my God I got a little spark there that was kind of sketch first off I advise you turn the breaker off before you do it I just did I think we're good though so two things one I did not install the Riser that you're supposed to put on so this doesn't look like this but we're just gonna rock with it because uh already short on time so you put this little cover on so apparently it cools the bike into thinking that it's plugged in we're gonna see if that works uh and then we're gonna seal everything up and we're just gonna send it Force Mode let's see how it feels okay that's definitely a little bit punchier I can't check the speed while I'm riding let me see okay so keep in mind we started at 68 percent this is a loss there's so much traffic right now I'm not going to do the route I was originally thinking of first thing you notice is that the bike has noticeably more pull keep in mind this is with a stock controller so if you upgrade your controller obviously you're going to get even more uh Power out of any potential battery upgrade you'll do it is so windy right now we're probably gonna chalk the idea of doing uh the comparison with both batteries it is just it is so windy but we're gonna try so we're in the loop around this parking structure to it is much faster it is apparent how much faster it is she going uphill wow gotta be careful in these North Hollywood parking structures anyone who knows North Hollywood only stuck into Glendale and how bad the drivers are out here they are horrendous so I got to be careful we're gonna do a little bit of climbing here so it's so fast when I pin the throttle is doing a turn I can feel it digging in the rear like it's uh I can feel the the rim washing out like a tire let's see if we can keep going all over the top even though there's not much incline it's probably like I don't know I want to say like 60 feet I would say it's a notice of the difference is there a top speed difference let's find out this is the perfect place to touch that because we can turn around right here and then there is no cars up here no nothing go ahead and pin it real quick mode fully pinned 40 miles an hour 41. 50 seems to be about the same doesn't seem to be a top speed increase but then again that is not what they advertise they advertise faster acceleration and more range so we're just gonna go back down here oh my God okay I do not have the braking power for this battery I can say that right now my braking is now inferior because you start going so fast with this that it's hard to keep up if your brakes are not like amazing which mine are terrible so gotta be careful not hit my head right here we gotta make our way down here there's so many kids up here chilling it's kind of weird I did not expect this many people just like sitting around teenagers or BMWs all right we're gonna make our way back down sketch I need to slow down to this parking structure there's no two ways around it but it's so hard when I have all this new juice all right a little downhill oh my God bro there's just so much power immediately available to you the second you just twist that throttle you just you are taking off and if you are not ready then uh it'll probably just shoot from under you I've got power for the bike deals now damn okay so there is a spot that's kind of through there there's like some kids right there so we're just gonna take the long way around right here okay straight up I would not be able to ride this with my brakes and the conditioners are in right now this would be a horrible idea we're gonna go ahead and pop out of the mall real quick because there's really no reason for us to be here attacking it I was thinking about doing a comparison between this and the stock battery but I mean straight up I could just tell you guys right now said it is like easily twice as punchier when you hit the throttle it is just immediate torque right then and there when you want it who is that as far as the range I guess that would be where we'd want to do like a comparison but I'll be able to estimate pretty well for you guys once we stop the ride how much more range we're gonna go across the street right here to this park typical route I've ridden to North Hollywood in a long time so we're going to do the route that we've always taken and see what has changed all right then we're good it's more Hollywood to go through the dirt it is so windy today too oh my god oh what was that that's why I wear my boots stuff like that will destroy your kids if you're not paying attention or some type of glass oh my God oh my God this is kind of like getting a brand new surround there's so much glass oh my God I just got this gigantic 40 ounce bottle if I hit that it would have been bad stand cracking so a couple things to consider with this new battery one if you start going really fast before you even realize you're going fast so as my first immediate reaction is like wow I am going much faster than I usually am in half the time so there's that that's kind of like the point is to get faster acceleration so acceleration is much improved the second obviously is range I'm gonna tell you guys what I think about the range when I stopped we started at 68 so I will be able to give you guys a pretty accurate estimation compared to the stock battery once we're done uh it's just a bit here I'm just having fun shredding on this thing right now oh God we're going through the last wow it is you can get yourself in trouble with this battery man holy crap it is it is it's so much fun birthday a lot it's pretty fun see if we can get over this what I run this is my main I mean I think anyone who plans on buying this you're gonna run it so be prepared for the for the benefits and the the you know the downsides too so you got to remember it makes the bike heavier but what I can tell you is that it doesn't really seem to make any type of a difference and performance how much heavier the battery is it's so fast it is ridiculous the bike is still just it is I'm zooming oh my god let's go down the trail real quick so oh let's put that a little bit right there almost lost my footing yeah it feels like a brand new bike I mean as always with a new battery oh they cleaned up all the cans right here with a new battery it's gonna feel amazing no matter what but uh this feels just crazy it is substantially faster than the bike was when it stopped it is just zipping brother holy crap I'm moving so fast I can't even keep up with my thoughts before I get to where I'm going okay we can get out right here that was a cool little app whoa okay dude wow game changing performance upgrade and it makes sense why it's so expensive I mean it's a two thousand dollar upgrade and I see why if you get what you pay for it this thing turns this bike into a machine bro oh my God it's just so fast like it's actually it is kind of scary how fast it becomes once you throw this battery on line it down a little bit after we just absolutely tore up that route that was crazy dude it's kind of like getting a new bike that's how fast like the the differences between stock and this I can already tell you between not even having to do a comparison ride or the same route we just did with the stock battery this thing is just absolutely way faster here so for who would actually want to buy this because it's a very expensive upgrade two thousand dollars nothing to scoff at and that's before tax or shipping um if you're just a speed demon you know this is not necessarily something that's for me I can appreciate who it is for can we hit a little we hit a little popper here one and done at the dog park we can only go there when it's empty yeah if you just want if you want more performance without getting much heavier because I know this is the lightest one the next one up gives you twice as much range similar performance as far as speed but it is double the weight of this which is already double the weight if not more than a stock battery so I'm prepared for a lot of extra weight really fast if you want to go all the way with the upgrades when it comes to the batteries plus it's more money the biggest one they offer I think is like 2500 bucks but it would give you a heck of a lot more performance so keep that in mind something to consider I don't know either way I'm super stoked on this battery I can't wait to test it out even further in this freeze thank you again shot batteries for hooking it up with this you know I'm gonna link them anyway okay so after our quick ride that was about 15 minutes a little bit of elevation and a lot of full speed pulls we're at 55 which is 13 lower than when we started I think this is not twice the range we would get from the stock battery but maybe like 1.5 times maybe 1.4 if I had to do the route we just did in my head I would say it's about like 1.4 times maybe 1.5
