hey guys this is a list of 20 ways to get bookkeeping clients number one answer a job posting on Craigslist or a job website so these businesses are truly looking for bookkeepers look on there to see who wants a bookkeeper and follow their instructions on how to apply and remember you can be a remote bookkeeper so you can work for people in any state number two join a business Network International Group so this is a BNI group they have these all across the U.S and the sole purpose of these is for different types of business owners to get together and then Network and refer clients to each other number three reach out to CPAs to certified public accountants in your town and see if they need help during tax time CPAs are a great resource and I have got multiple clients from a busy CPA number four post on your personal Facebook page so this is the way that I got my first couple clients just by putting the word out there to family and friends that I'm a bookkeeper looking for clients give this video a thumbs up if you're excited for the other 16 of these and in this video I'm just listing like a big old brainstorm list of ideas but I did just come out with a class more bookkeeping clients number five is use Instagram so start that business page on Instagram and start connecting with people there number six join your city's Chamber of Commerce so every city that I have lived in has like this group for small businesses and I feel like it's kind of an underutilized resource but like in our city they have weekly meetings every Friday you can go and just connect with other business owners number seven is do a q a or a talk to a local group of business owners so that could be at the Chamber of Commerce I was talking about or there's probably different groups in your town like maybe there's a contractors Association maybe they need a bit of help with using QuickBooks Online maybe they have questions about invoicing or how to do their taxes so you can answer some of those questions for them and also make valuable connections number eight is utilize your existing Network so think about business owners that you already know that are in your life and offer those owners a free 30-minute consultation with you number nine volunteer for a local business owner that you know so maybe your kids piano teacher is really stressed in there they don't know how to do their bookkeeping that would likely be a pretty small client that wouldn't take you that long but it might help you get experience and when you do a good job maybe that piano teacher would with people in there number 11 is similar make connections with people on LinkedIn so like Facebook friends and LinkedIn they're called connections so connect with old colleagues and classmates that way and Linkedin is a professional network of course so people are kind of expecting that you're going to be doing the job search thing there number 12 partner with someone with reach and what I mean by that is someone who knows a lot of people and talks to a lot of people so a financial advisor might be a really good choice for this they are talking to people about their finances a lot and they might know oh this person needs a bookkeeper Morgan is a great bookkeeper I'm going to connect you to another person with reach might be like your hairdresser so your hairdresser is sitting there talking to multiple people every day multiple people a week you probably get a little bit deep into conversation with your hairdresser and so that person might be a really great connector as well to connect you to other people who need a bookkeeper next is join an association for trades so there are different unions or associations like maybe plumbers have a group in your area so check into what the rules are for joining that group and if they let you start meeting with them getting to know them and showing your expertise as a bookkeeper number 14 is offer something for free so this could be a free q a like I mentioned or it could be like a free checklist that you give out on your Instagram leave me a comment below if you have tried any of these and if they've worked for you or if you have other ideas 15 is offer incentives for referrals so maybe you have a couple clients now those people likely know others that will need a bookkeeper so maybe you give them a discount on services or some other incentive if they bring you a new client number 16 is reach out to past co-workers to see if they know anyone that needs a bookkeeper so I've worked with a lot of really great people in the past and a lot of them are kind of doing their own things now and they're not necessarily in my current like social network but if you kind of think outside that box think about those old co-workers like who did you like like who did you get along with who do you think would be a good contact to chat with about bookkeeping number 17 ask your financial advisor for referrals I mentioned them before as someone with reach but you could actually create like an intentional partnership with a financial advisor and be like I'm going to send my plants to you as a financial advisor and it'd be great if you could send clients my way as well number 18 start a YouTube channel in your bookkeeping Niche so I actually just had a video come out all about this I went step by step how to create a YouTube channel for bookkeepers and that is more of a long game for sure but I'm here to tell you I get tons of requests every month from businesses that want me to be their bookkeeper and at this point I have too many that I am not able to work for them but YouTube or other social media platforms are definitely a way to bring in potential clients number 19 is a little more old school but bring around a paper flyer to businesses in your area that you might like to work for I was at a job when someone did this and this was actually pretty legit like they seemed like they were on top of it and even if the business is not ready to hire a new bookkeeper right then they can keep your information on file for the future if they need it and number 20 is post your resume and your information on a job website so you know on Craigslist for example there are people looking for bookkeepers you can also post that you you are a bookkeeper looking for clients don't forget to check out my class about
