warning warning Disney World won't talk about these things but we will [Music] hey everybody it's AJ for Disney food blog before your big Disney World trip or even if you're just considering a little Disney vacation for the far away future there are certain things you're going to want to know that Disney doesn't exactly advertise 24 7 on their website or My Disney Experience app meaning if you don't have The Insider knowledge you'll have the potential of missing out ordering the wrong food item just getting misinformation that could lead to some rather confusing hiccups or I don't know wasting thousands of dollars but hey you're here now so let's get down to business nope not to defeat the Huns though you know it's chill if you still decide to squeeze that into your plans for the day I won't stop you now I wanted to talk to you once again about how Disney World always advertises for five nights or seven nights and you don't have to stay that long you only have to stay two nights but Bria said that we have to tell you about brand new things instead so that's what we're going to do first up we're going to talk about a service that's different every single day guess what Genie plus prices can now now change on a whim now yeah individual lightning Lane prices could always change but now the base price of Genie plus like what you pay for that 40 plus rides to get the shorter lines that can change every day too recently Disney announced the genie plus is switching over from a set rate of 15 per day per person to Surge pricing that could reach up to twenty two dollars per day during Peak Seasons or more twenty two dollars was the quoted price that it could get up to in October but we don't know where it could go in November or December when things get really busy we've already started seeing Genie plus prices climb into the 20 range in Disney World and we expected to jump even higher once that Christmas season officially kicks off though Genie plus is a Nifty service to have around and helps you bypass those giant cues for rides it's not necessarily a service you have to have so discuss it with your group and your family ahead of time to see if the extra expense will be worth the quicker Q benefits also keep in mind you don't have to have Genie Plus for every day of your visit even if you just wanted to use it for like Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios and skip it for the other two parks that don't have as many rides and don't have as long wait times you can save yourself the extra price tag tacked on to your day for your entire trip so just get Genie plus when you need it remember you can always just pay for those individual lightning lanes for the super popular rides instead if you want to alright next time is of the essence especially in the Disney World parks time is money I say this all the time so if you don't know about this next thing you could miss out on it completely something Disney World isn't going to warn you about is that certain snacks are very very limited Limited in amount and limited in time so snacking around the Disney World parks is a favorite pastime of ours and I know of yours too and what makes it even more fun is when those new options pop up out of thin air we know we've got to try them ASAP the thing about Disney World snacks is that some may stick around for a good long while but others don't sometimes exclusive Disney these snacks are around for an extended celebration or a seasonal event like the 50th Anniversary or the months leading up to Christmas but sometimes Disney snacks hang out for like a month or a week like specialty items during women's History Month in March or World princess week at the end of August yes there is such a thing as a world princess week not joking about that and sometimes they're only around for a day or a weekend only to disappear from our lives before we even have a chance to fall in love with them now we've seen these kinds of ultra limited treats appear on June 26th for Stitch day get it 626 or during weekend festivities like epcot's 40th anniversary which did not get an 18 month long celebration which I still don't understand and I still am totally willing to die on that mountain so how will you know what's going to be available for a limited time only during your trip well I bet you can guess even if you don't learn about certain offerings until the last minute you can still get an idea that Disney will be offering new and fun snacks based on the time of year you're visiting just assume that if there's any kind of cell celebration going on any kind of holiday Disney's gonna have a snack for that also know that we talk about all these snack offerings as soon as we hear about them don't worry we don't have to get them first we'll tell you about them as soon as we hear they're coming so as long as you're keeping tabs on our website or if you're on our dfb newsletter which is totally free link is down there in the description you'll know about these exclusive offerings immediately and they can go right on your planning list now who would have thunk the planning a terrible Disney World trip is easier than you thought especially if you happen to forget some vital items that'll bring you relief when you need it most yep I'm sorry we're gonna have to talk about this my friends because Disney World definitely doesn't warn you about this one word chafing okay stick with me chafing is the worst and it happens to everybody your thighs burn your arms burn it happens when you're sweaty and you're hot and you're walking a lot happens to everybody if you do plan on wearing a dress to the parks we can always recommend those slip shorts or biker shorts those are pretty handy but what I use all the time is what the runners use all the time an anti-chafing stick this is a lifesaver you can get reliable ones like body Glide off of Amazon or like one of the sporting goods stores for like nine bucks just get it put it in your Park bag you can use it on blister areas you can use it anywhere that something rubs against your skin that causes it to get a hot spot so just get yourself a body Glide get yourself some sort of chafing stick stick it in your bag you'll thank me all right did you misplace something something important warning what you've lost might not be your fault this is definitely something that takes all of us by surprise the first time it happens until we figure out what's going on when you park a stroller outside a ride or a restaurant you expect it to be there when you come out so imagine your surprise when oh it's not in the same place you left it have you lost your marbles no sometimes cast members will rearrange strollers to make sure they can make room for other strollers as well as clear Pathways if the Sea of strollers which is the I think trademarked name of that literal massive strollers outside every ride in Disney World is starting to create a bottleneck so whether you're renting a stroller or bringing your own from home give your stroller a marker something that makes it stand out from the crowd like a balloon or a sign with your family's name on the back or some sort of decorative eye-catching ribbon that'll make you go oh there it is personally I go for neon like bright pinks greens blues anything that's not red black and yellow since those will blend in with the Mickey color schemes of Disney stroller rentals and most strollers are black and so if you have something that's black on there then you're not going to be able to tell by the way a balloon is great but it will also hit you in the face all day long so I don't recommend the balloon now I know you've heard you don't know what you've Got Till It's Gone and that's how we feel about this neck ends up all that that very different right now the days of those daily Mouse keeping experiences are behind us at least they are for now instead of your Disney World Resort hotel room being cleaned every day your room will be cleaned every other day with a service Disney calls light housekeeping what this means is that housekeeping services will stick to the bare minimum dumping trash replacing towels and amenities wiping down counters and vacuuming if absolutely needed otherwise keeping your space nice and tidy is going to be up to you and your group but rest assured Disney does thoroughly clean each hotel room after guests check out that way you're always checking into a nice and span space upon your arrival it's also worth mentioning that there's still currently no room service at most of the hotels right now so things like in-room dining or even merchandise delivery services AKA buying a souvenir at a gift shop and having it sent back to your hotel so you don't have to Lug it around all day is not available and we're not really sure if or when it'll be back again the only resort to currently offer in-room private dining is the lovely lady herself Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa so if you're desperately missing that amenity you may want to look into booking a room here if that major price point doesn't scare you of course so plan ahead for this make sure you got plenty of snacky options in your room if you happen to be lounging in bed and get a hankering for a snack or familiarize yourself with food delivery services like ubereats or doordash those can deliver fast food straight to your hotel you'll just have to pick it up from bell services so don't get all comfy cozy in bed just yet also consider purchasing souvenirs toward the end of the day instead of earlier on that way you don't have to carry them all day long or have to backtrack to your hotel room and interrupt your Park visits okay I think that point that I just said deserves a part two to help you avoid some rather interesting situations now this isn't about housekeeping this is about that package pickup that's not back in Disney World yet the next thing on our list is you build it you carry it that's something Disney does not warn you about building a customized light saber at savi's Workshop or creating your own little Droid companion at Droid Depot or just buying anything huge in Disney World sounds like a lot of fun but if you build something or buy something then you have to carry it with you all day long remember how I said merchandise delivery has not returned this is when it becomes a major pain sure lightsabers come with a carrying sleeve you can sling around your shoulder and droids come in these cute little cardboard carrying cases but that doesn't mean they're not still bulky and a pain to figure out what to do with when you get on rides so if you want to build one of those Batu exclusive items or buy something huge then you'll probably want to reserve a build time or buy the thing toward later on in the evening rather than getting an early morning reservation or buying it early in the morning you wouldn't want to rope drop this anyway early morning park hours are the best times to get in line for rides before the afternoon crowds come rolling in if you get one of these items later on in the day but you still got hours left to explore the park you can always rent a locker Hollywood Studios has small and large Locker rentals at the front of the park which will be a great way to store your Droid but since the Savvy lightsabers are not retractable and shouldn't be pulled apart once they're built you may have a more difficult time storing that souvenir away so maybe you want to ship it back home instead you can have any Disney World shop or store mail your Disney purchases to your home and any Disney World hotel with a convention or Business Center can mail your non-disney packages for you but standard shipping and handling rates still apply but let's say you decide to tough it out and carry your souvenir around with you anyway what's going to happen after your Disney World trip ends and you have to try to bring a lightsaber back on a plane is TSA going to be furious well on the contrary TSA totally gets to the lightsabers you're bringing back with you aren't actual weapons in fact if you look on the TSA website you can see their full lightsaber response that literally cracks me up every time so I'm just going to read it out loud this is the TSA tweet sadly the technology doesn't currently exist to create a real lightsaber however you can pack a toy lightsaber in your carry-on or checked bag May the force be with you and May the force be with you TSA as long as your saber is in a carry-on or checked bag it'll be clear for takeoff all right next we've got the key component for some major frustration issues guess what four a place that relies super heavily on you using your smartphone to connect to the internet to manage your vacation plans Disney World's Wi-Fi isn't always the most reliable so Wi-Fi may be free for Disney World guests throughout all of Disney property and that's awesome but that doesn't mean it's also going to give you the greatest connection we found Wi-Fi to be kind of spotty in some of the Disney World hotel rooms in certain indoor ride queues and in areas around Disney Springs like near the AMC theater for some reason my Wi-Fi never seems to hold around there also if you're in a park that's very very crowded or that lots of people are trying to stream at the same time like example for fireworks a lot of people for some reason don't want to enjoy the fireworks they want to stream the fireworks to their followers instead of watch the fireworks anyway that's when the Wi-Fi tends to be worse but that doesn't mean your connection is going to be bad everywhere and all the time around the parks you may have a better chance of getting a clearer Connection in those wide open areas like connections Eatery and Epcot and harambe Market in Disney's Animal Kingdom and although your connection could be iffy in your Disney hotel room Disney Resorts usually have alternative workspaces with a stronger signal like the Carrollwood pacific room at the Boulder Ridge Villas and Wilderness Lodge the second floor of Disney's contemporary resort with tons of seating options because that's the convention center and everybody's using Wi-Fi there the Bellevue Lounge at Disney's Boardwalk in and the voyagers lounge in Disney's Riviera Resort Disney Springs can actually have a really good Wi-Fi signal if you choose your space correctly Starbucks on the West Side can keep you connected and caffeinated but strangely enough I found the most solid signals around amarett's Patisserie and inside Earl of Sandwich of course each phone is going to be different and your data might be strong enough to keep a hold without relying on Disney's Wi-Fi but if you need to reconnect those have been our Best Bets from past experiences now planning your Disney World trip is a juggling act we know this especially when it comes to the best times to eat and something that Disney does not warn you about because I've been caught by this several times is that some restaurants close before the park closes so if you or somebody you're with is notorious for eating dinner late late late at night then consider this as your neon warning sign and I'm going to be honest sometimes these places even close before it's late late at night so just because you're in a park and it doesn't close till 9 or 10 or 11 that doesn't mean that the the counter service restaurants all of them are going to stay open until that closing time so you're gonna have to check on restaurant hours beforehand so let's look at just a few examples real fast at Magic Kingdom Friars Nook and Fantasyland closes at 5 PM in Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland when it's open anyway closes around three at Hollywood Studios Pizza Rizzo off Grand Avenue closes around 5 PM Bronto Roasters closes at 3 though you can still get ronto raps at Docking Bay 7 after ronto Roasters closes for the day and at Animal Kingdom 8 Spoon Cafe oh that amazing mac and cheese closes at 5 PM in restaurant asaurus closes at 5 15. that's weird but there you go lots of Disney's Epcot festival booths also start to close before the park does so if you want a certain Festival item it's better to get it earlier rather than wait till the end of the night on the opposite side of things however there are some restaurants that open before the parks open a few early morning breakfast options you can make reservations for starting at 7 30 a.m include Topolino's Terrace at Disney's Riviera Resort Cape May Cafe at beach club and Chef Mickey's at Contemporary Resort by the way these are all character dining experiences meaning you can start meeting Mickey and friends even before the park day begins and that also means you won't have to worry about waiting in line for them while in the Parks later on in the day or using lightning lanes for them since we're already talking about dining we might as well talk about a trend in Disney that's become more and more prominent lately whether we want it to or not prefix menus are everywhere so let me give you a quick summary of what prefix dining means for your upcoming sit-down meal a prefix menu is like Buffet pricing you're expected to pay a certain minimum amount no matter how much you intend on eating while you're there a prefix menu is a set menu with set pricing you walk in you're given a menu you might be able to choose from a few different entrees and you might be able to choose from a few different other courses as well or it might just be a set entree that everybody gets and everybody pays the exact same price so if you think about hoop to do a musical review that's a prefix meal it means that everybody gets the same food everybody pays the same price now Cinderella's Royal table is also a prefix meal you pay the same price but you get to choose your entree you get to choose your appetizer your dessert but prefix means it's already fixed the menu price is set now some new restaurants like space 220 over in Epcot they introduced the restaurant with a prefix menu from day one other restaurants like Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom and California Grill and contemporary resort they used to have a la carte menus but ended up switching over to prefix dining style right after the parks reopened from the closures now the other drawback of prefix menus that set price you're going to see at the top of your menu is the minimum amount you're going to be paying for your meal you'll still probably have to pay for any drinks other than water and you'll definitely have to pay for cocktails and other meal enhancements well the only outlier here would be Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical review over in Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground which gives you unlimited refills for Sangria beer wine but like Hoop-Dee-Doo tends to push past the status quo in many ways which is why we love it a lot and there are a few reasons that this might have happened on the one hand many guests would come to these restaurants more for the atmosphere less for the meal meaning many folks would take up seats and order just an appetizer or a dessert to share which meant less money in Disney's pockets and the change could have also been prompted because of the food and ingredient shortages that came about during the pandemic when the shipping issues were kind of affecting everything could also be because of cast member shortages and it could also be because when the parks reopened after the closures the pandemic was still very strong and Disney was working very hard to keep all their cast members safe which means in a kitchen where people are usually really close together in other people's business if you have a prefix meal it means you're only making a set amount of items you're not making a ton of item on a menu which means you can keep fewer people in the kitchen and keep them separated from each other just kind of working on those individual items so that could be a reason for the prefix menus as well now whatever the case may be prefix dining seems to be here to stay because it's been two years since the closure and we still have these prefix menus but you can still find several restaurants that continue to feature individually priced entrees as well as a lot of different options for a range of eaters and budgets too this includes dining options like Steakhouse 71 Chef art Smith's homecoming Sunshine Seasons food court I mean basically most restaurants in Disney World right now are not prefix but we are seeing more and more of them coming in another thing Disney doesn't want to warn you about Disney World may be called the most magical place on Earth but at times it can be dog eat dog so let's talk about things that sell out and sell out quickly we're going to start with merchandise you know that exclusive Disney World merchandise you've been hearing about the one for a special anniversary or a holiday or even a weekend only thing yeah you're not the only one eyeballing that in fact there are hundreds of people who will be after this limited time merch and they mean business popular merchandise seems to bring in droves of Disney World guests some are local some from hundreds of miles away all with their eyes on that prize not only do these special merch drops tend to create queue lines that can be even longer than lines for Disney's most popular rides we're talking up to six hour wait times for some of this merchandise but these items also tend to sell out quickly even with a limit of only one to two items per guest we've seen this happened with epcot's 40th anniversary merchandise as well as that Infamous figment popcorn bucket Fiasco which I don't know if anyone really expected that to pop off like it did get it okay exclusive mini ears also have the tendency to sell out quickly like the Oogie Boogie ears that sold out immediately like within minutes at Disneyland this year are the Scarlet Witch years that got swiped up just as soon as they were put on the racks in Disney World so before you decide to jump on the bandwagon for these certain release events which could totally be up your alley if you're someone who feeds off of that Black Friday energy then ask yourself is whatever I'm standing in line for really gonna be worth using a chunk on my Park date just to purchase if the answer is yes yes it is which it could be because we've all had stuff like that that we just want that more than we want to ride Space Mountain Big Thunder Mountain or anything else then if that's you stay vigilant I'll let you know when I catch word about upcoming releases which I can update you immediately on if you're part of the dfb newsletter and I'll go ahead and drop the link to that in the comments below as you know it's always there but if you truly want to commit to the merch you're gonna have to rope drop it and no ifs ands or buts about it that's one of the only ways you're going to avoid having to wait all day long or even worse waiting for ever only to find out that what you're waiting for just sold out before you reached the front though these merge drops are pretty exclusive it doesn't hurt to also check the shop Disney website just in case some of those limited release items decide to drop there too we saw epcot's 40th anniversary merch pop up over there on shop Disney which was a pleasant surprise for folks who weren't able to make it out for the weekend celebration or who just didn't want to wait forever in a day for a shirt and a plush okay this next one we're going to talk about is going to be teeny tiny but I want to talk about it because it's really really really important if you want to avoid literal tears in Disney World you need to check your kids height before you go to Disney World and definitely before they get in line for some of those rides this is something Disney doesn't really warn you about they don't tell you they don't send you a giant email saying that rides have height limits right so if you want to avoid massive tears and broken hearts make sure the kids in your group are actually going to be tall enough to ride the rides they're getting hyped for and I'm not just talking about measuring them right before they get on a ride by a cast member I'm talking about even before you go on vacation you can check height requirements on the Disney World website for every single ride just so you'll know which rides your kids will be able to get on otherwise they might get all excited for a ride they're not tall enough for just yet and that can be a really sad reality check and no spiked hair and standing on tippy toes is not going to cut it the reason those height requirements are there are for the safety of your kid so even if you put them in platform shoes they're still not tall enough to ride the ride and that has a lot to do with the actual construction of the ride Vehicles so just be honest about that one and be real with your kids about what they're going to be able to ride and what they're not now just like not all rides are created equal not all seats in restaurants are created equal either in Disney's not going to warn you about this I've been eating at Disney restaurants for like how old am I like 30 years now actually probably 35 and now that I've made this the thing I do for a living I am very aware of which seats in restaurants are better than others so so knowing which tables you're going to want to request at some of the best Disney World restaurants can make the difference between creating a magical memory or just being flat out annoyed all evening believe me this happens to me all the time now before I give you a list of some of our favorite seats in the house just note that cast members can't always accommodate your requests it never hurts to ask be kind about it but they can't always do it y'all so if they can't make that magical moment come true for you don't be mean just be like cool okay just be cool now at Be Our Guest restaurant we always prefer the dark and Eerie West Wing room above the others although we wouldn't complain about sitting in the ballroom a rose Gallery because the whole place is gorgeous but out of the three rooms the rose Gallery tends to have the least going on theming wise while the ballroom can get pretty echoey and Loud Like a cafeteria The West Wing however is a more intimate experience with spooky lightning flashes there's lots going on in there and of course the enchanted Rose is in there and you want to keep an eye on that too throughout your meal now Skipper canteen Magic Kingdom also has has multiple rooms and since reservations are easier to get here it may be easier for you to request a room or table preference some of our team members love to sit in the family falls parlor since there are lots of odds and ends to look at like maps and artwork and knickknacks from around the globe but the best seat in the house and the one I always prefer is going in the Society of explorers and adventurers meeting room the sca room and sitting in the butterfly Booth this is of course where the Society of explorers and adventurers go to hold their meetings and you have to go through a secret bookcase to get there now at both Ohana and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and La Hacienda de San and hell at Epcot certain tables in the restaurant have fireworks views of the Magic Kingdom and Epcot nighttime spectaculars While others don't so let the hostess at the front know you're interested in fireworks viewing seating or basically getting a table where you're going to be able to see the fireworks because if you just say you want a window table they could seat you at a window table that does not have a view so specifically say firework seating when you make your request and schedule your dining reservation for the time in the evening that you're at about 30 to 45 minutes before the show begins there's a similar situation going on over at spice Road table at Epcot this table service restaurant in the Morocco Pavilion has some gorgeous views of the world showcase Lagoon and consequently the fireworks but there are two different places to sit there's indoor seating and outdoor seating and you don't really get to choose which one you want there are some excellent booths indoors with great views those to me are the prime seating at spice road but if you're okay eating outside then go ahead and take an outdoor table because it's going to be easier to see some of the fireworks from there just ask to be closer to the Lagoon right so lots of specifics there now one more example of good seating because like I'm not joking with you every restaurant in Disney World has good seating and bad seating so I've got requests for all of them but one more example is over there at Boathouse in Disney Springs there there's lots of tables at The Boathouse it's a huge restaurant they've got casual high top tables on the dock behind the main restaurant they've got a great view of the sparkling Lake now I don't like high top tables maybe you do but my favorite table here of course is the giant boat when you literally are sitting inside a boat it's right at the front of the restaurant you can't miss it it's a big speed boat so I always request that one but I basically have to make my reservation to be kind of the first person in the restaurant to do that right now we've got a great Disney food blog post covering the best seats at practically every Disney restaurant the title of it's basically like the best seat in every Disney restaurant so I'll put that in the description below for you too now if you're not prepared for this next point I'm Gonna Make Or if you forget about it entirely then you're gonna be sorry so pay attention this one's silly and it happens to everybody but maybe you could be the lucky one because you're watching this video you're walking down Main Street USA you turn and see Cinderella castle for the first time the soundtrack swells the bakery smell smells waft past your nose tears well in your eyes the magic of the moment gives you chills and then bam you twist your ankle in the trolley tracks I'm sorry who decided this was a good design so the Main Street trolley tracks are notorious for sneaking up on you and tripping you up when you least expect them it happens to everybody they streak right down the middle of Main Street USA so you know just keep an eye out for these but don't feel embarrassed if you trip over them anyway because it's literally a rite of passage at this point but no Disney doesn't warn you about it there's no signs next on our list is a super super helpful tip if you want to keep the magic going when you're back home for cheaper than in the Parks we have absolutely got you you can purchase popular Disney snacks at home so you don't have to spend all the money on them in the Parks now trust me I get it sometimes you need a Mickey bar in the park and it's okay you can go ahead and buy one but if you're back home and you want that feeling of Disney there are some secret places you can find them so let's start with those Mickey bars a box of Mickey ice cream bars could be at your local grocery store so make sure to check the freezer section on your next visit they usually come in a box of six for around six to eight dollars which is basically how much it costs for one Mickey bar in Disney World right and they're slightly different than the ogs they're a little bit smaller but they will definitely do the job and double whip may also be closer to home than you think if you've got an ice cream maker you can order dolit mix off Amazon and make some for yourself it's literally the same stuff that they use in Disney but if you'd prefer to have a dolewood pre-made keep an eye at your local frozen yogurt shops don't whip has been known to appear at chains like Sweet Frog and Menchies and other self-serve locations too if you're a big fan of the mini Mango pies over at yak and Yeti Local Foods Cafe in Animal Kingdom like I am then you'll be happy to know you can potentially get a remarkably similar it's really the exact same kind of pie at your local grocery store just keep your eyes peeled for the Kenny's pie brand in the bakery freezer section need a Disney churro fix you can find some very similar churros at Smart and Final look for the Teo Pepe brand and heat them up at home literally the same brand Disney buys now for some of you this next point is going to be the greatest discovery ever and for others You're Gonna Hate Me Forever pointing it out but hey you may need the warning did you know you can get pixie dusted in Disney World yep so do me a favor go to Sir mickey'sgift shop in Magic Kingdom it's the one with a giant beanstalk wrapped around it in Fantasyland once you're there track down a cast member who's carrying a wand these cast members will be able to pixie dust you if you're needing that little extra Sparkle in your day pixie dust is completely free at least when it comes to money but that Glitter will be with you forever and always and get on your clothes and your family's clothes in your hotel bed and your bed back home it will stay with you forever so just be aware of that before you get pixie dusted all right ready to be shocked no really this next Point still shocks me every single time Disney pool bars can actually have good food we don't talk about Disney pool bars a whole lot here on dfb guide but we're gonna give it a little bit of love right now because Disney doesn't warn you that you can get great stuff at some pool bars not all some now we've talked about Disney World having epic fast food we've even talked about them having epic bar food but do they really have epic pool bar food well sometimes yeah though some pool bars at the Disney World Resorts only have a couple of snacks here and there alongside their beachy and fruity cocktails some have meals that I find myself actively seeking out time and again bar Riva over at Disney's Riviera Resort for instance has a Mediterranean menu that features baked brie grilled vegetable skewers that you can add chicken and shrimp to and the sticky chicken wings in a Chipotle sweet and sour vinegar drizzle with truffle aioli wow and though I'm not a huge fan of the offerings over at Disney's Caribbean beach in general I must say banana Cabana their pool bar is a destination location it can be an exception to the rule you've got to try their chili con queso Cuban sandwich and the pineapple coconut bread pudding top with caramel sauce and served with a side of vanilla ice cream that might sound familiar to you because it's been created by the same Chef that created the Ohana bread pudding just a heads up now geyser Point Bar and Grill at Disney's Wilderness Lodge is the jack of all trades it's a pool bar it's a fast food location it's a lounge and it's a table service all in one here you'll be able to order items like the shrimp on a wire that amazing bison cheeseburger the campfire moves lots of good stuff here including exclusive drinks and if you happen to be over at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin the Cabana Beach Club feels way more like an upscale Lounge rather than a place to grab a quick bite after doing a few cannonballs Cabana Beach Club serves top-notch Lounge bites like buttermilk battered chicken crisps crispy calamari and grilled watermelon with spiced ricotta all right we still run into issues for this next point on our things Disney won't warn you about in Disney World because some situations are trickier than others heads up that transportation is not always as straightforward as it seems in Disney World nope I'm not picking on Disney buses again this time instead I want to talk about the complications that could come with hitching a ride on our favorite Disney transportation like the Skyliner and monorail the Disney Skyliner is a great way to get over to Epcot in Disney's Hollywood Studios while you're staying at one of those Skyliner area hotels like Pop Century Art of Animation Caribbean Beach Riviera but when it starts storming like it tends to do in Orlando there's going to be some major setbacks with this Gondola system Skyliner can't run when weather conditions are sketchy so you're gonna have to have that plan B if it's storming during your visit the Skyliner station you're trying to go to will have a sign out front redirecting you to their alternative mode of transportation which is of course buses so we're giving those buses the MVP points today now the buses also come in very handy when the monorail can let you down sometimes when you're going from the transportation and Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom the monorail might not be running at that time or the lines super super long if that's the case look for the bus just so you're aware this is the rare time that a bus ride will be faster anyway it's going to get you to the front Gates faster than a long monorail line and ride will from the TTC it just may not be as fun now the buses aren't always running as an alternative to the monorail but on very very busy days or days when the monorail is down they will be and they'll be pretty quick now earlier I mentioned how not all seats at table service restaurants are created equal and I think it's only fair we do a part two but not for restaurants this time for something else that Disney doesn't warn you about not all hotel rooms are created equal and this is something that really gets me not gonna lie if you have upcoming reservations for a Disney World hotel remember that those hotels are absolutely massive they have a ton of different views they have rooms that are all different distances away from things you want to be close to like the lobby the pool the food the the elevator and so just because you're paying the same amount for each room doesn't mean you're getting the same value from each room and you can make your experience even better by making a room request if you don't make a request you could be placed in a room that's super inconvenient for you specifically you may end up way far away from the lobby have a not so great view of the parking lot or have a teeny tiny balcony versus a full-on balcony it's true that actually happens you're paying the same amount of money and you're not getting the same value and I guess this is true at literally every Hotel you ever stay at anywhere but when you're paying this much money for your dream vacation come on you gotta do the work to try to at least get a great room right so how do you make a room request when you do your online check-in on the My Disney Experience app you will be led to a section where you can let Disney know your specific preferences though these requests can't always be fulfilled much like it can't always be granted when you're requesting a table at a restaurant it never hurts to ask Disney's gonna work to accommodate you meaning you have a way higher chance of actually getting a room with the amenities that you want than you would if you just kept your preferences to yourself okay AJ which rooms do you think we should be requesting well great question if you want to see the rooms that I think are the best of the best among the Disney Resorts go check out our best Disney rooms video next you know we've already done a video on this and this could introduce you to some Disney hotel rooms you didn't even know existed now hold up you know all those Disney World reservations you just made you might not be done yet because something else Disney doesn't warn you about especially right now in this current climate is that you may need to make dining changes you weren't expecting to make so it's not just set it and forget it as much as you think Disney World keeps changing on a dime right now sometimes for the better other times not so much and these changes are still lingering from the impact made on the parks after those closures of 2020. so let's start with an example of a good change first the signature restaurant Monsieur Paul reopened in the France Pavilion on October 18th meaning you can make reservations for it right now now Monsieur Paul features an elevated prefix menu of French cuisine and yes you will have to follow a dress code to eat here this is a fancy restaurant for a fun expensive date night and this is now the second restaurant where kids under 10 aren't allowed to dine but if you're looking for a romantic night out you'll need to make reservations 60 days before your Epcot visit if you can and basically since they just decided to reopen this restaurant they just announced it a week before it opened you kind of needed to be paying attention to know that it was opening and you needed to go ahead and make those reservations as soon as possible so that's another situation where as restaurants that you love are reopening by the way we're still waiting on 1900 Park Fair as they're reopening as they're changing their dining style they're changing their price tags they're changing to prefix menus you want to stay tuned to our newsletter because we're going to tell you when all those changes happen we're going to let you know when you need to start making reservations for restaurants that are reopening all of that stuff is going to be on our newsletter and Disney doesn't necessarily warn you about that stuff happening so stay tuned to us now along with more reopenings and more prefix menus like I said before restaurants are changing in other ways some are switching over from serving food family style where the unlimited eats are brought directly to your table and returning to a buffet setup then there are restaurants that are bringing back character dining but also doubling the prices of their meals so again lots of changes are happening and Disney's not necessarily going to advertise that to you or like send you an email that this restaurant that you booked is now switching to a character meal or this restaurant that you booked now has a prefix menu so as more of these changes continue to happen and they're happening more and more often right now because lots of places are reopening and changing as the pandemic rules get updated then we're going to continue to keep you updated on our dfb newsletters so definitely sign up for that but that is something you're going to have to keep an eye on if you're going to Disney World soon because you could show a better restaurant and it could be not at all what you expected because of a change recently or there could be a restaurant you really want to go to that you think is closed but surprised it just reopened last week and you need to get a reservation ASAP now if you want to avoid your trip ending on a sour note then you need to be aware of this next point which happens more frequently than you might think raise your hand if you've been personally attacked by an extremely early flight and had to wake up at the crack of dawn to make it to the airport on time just so y'all are where we're raising our hands like three times so if you have an early morning flight from the Orlando International Airport to make it back home and you've got a mirrors connect shuttle scheduled to take you over there that shuttle is going to arrive even earlier to make sure you can get through security without rushing to your flight that could mean pickups as early as 4 a.m so let's say your body flat out rejects this what happens when you sleep through your alarms and completely miss your bus to the airport well you've got a couple of options first off here's to hoping you wake up soonish otherwise you're going to have to completely change your flight and that could be a whole other deal entirely MCO isn't exactly known for being a quiet airport sometimes getting through the line for your security check take up to 45 minutes plus which is why we love getting the TSA pre-check but if you do get up soon you may be able to reschedule your mirrors pickup before it's too late there is a manage reservations link on the mirror's website but usually this will only work for reservations more than 24 hours out your best bet then is going to be to call the mirror's number at 407-422-4561 in several cases mirrors has been able to work alongside guests to figure out a plan B that'll still get you over to MCO but if these alternative plans don't get you to your flight you may have to go ahead and book that ride share which will be able to pick you up and deliver you to MCO faster alright now that you know all this juicy information all these things that Disney does not warn you about then let us know a few of your warnings the things that you've been surprised by at Disney or the things that have taken you off guard when you were there because the more Insider info we can share with one another the better and as always always keep checking back here for all the latest tips and tricks thanks for listening everyone and thanks for watching as
