this is bella my boss in over 10 years and today i'm giving you 20 reasons why boston terriers make the best dog breed ever in no particular order reason number one boston terriers are truly an all-american dog they're one of the first dog breeds to be developed here in the united states in boston massachusetts and they were the first dog breed here in america to be recognized by the american kennel club in 1893. reason number two is they're considered american gentlemen and the reason why is because their black and white appearance makes them look like they're in a tuxedo bella here she's the american woman reason number three boston terriers are extremely funny depending on what your humor is i have a weird sense of humor but bella will literally look you right in the eyes not blink and then you'll just hear a fart nothing to me that's funny whenever your dog literally looks you in the face and lets out one of the stinkiest little toots that you'll ever smell in your entire life that's funny reason number four boston terriers are extremely loyal and loyal to the point where bella for instance if we come home she hasn't done this in a while but if she tears something up she already looks like she's been punished hello what is this hello did you tear this up you didn't do anything all right just gonna give the cold shoulder i guess nothing just because they want to please their owner in every way they can there's nothing you have to do she tears up the house which once again hasn't happened in a long time but when she does she looks as if somebody has already yelled at her done things to her because she's just scared and cowardly and that's just a common boston terrier trait talk to other boston terrier owners same thing their boston looks super guilty whenever they come home and something bad has happened reason number five boston terriers love to be by their owner side so if you're someone who loves to go outdoors and you want to go on hikes well boston terriers to a degree can absolutely go do that if you're someone who wants to sit around and watch tv yeah your boston will have no problem doing that they're a moderate energy dog breed so they do need to have exercise 30 to 60 minutes every single day but for the most part they're gonna do whatever their owner does and that's what makes them great reason number six boston terriers are a small compact breed but they can do a lot of great things they're perfect for apartment living just because of their small size however i have family that live out in the country they have five acres they have horses goats chickens bella loves going out there and she'll go run around the chickens chase the chickens down she'll go over by the horses because she's not a super tiny dog you know anywhere from basically a normal typical boston would be anywhere from 10 to 25 pounds seeing larger seems smaller but on average bella's 23 pounds and that makes her just big enough where she's not gonna get injured really easily like a smaller dog and then of course she is a smaller dog breed so she's okay for apartment living so they're very versatile reason number seven boston terriers tend not to bark which is great because you can go take them on walks and they're not gonna yap their head off like other dogs whenever you're walking by somebody which to add to this since they don't bark very often that means if somebody's coming up to your door for bella for instance the ups man comes up she starts to bark which makes them a perfect guard dog because they don't bark very often you know when they are barking it's for something serious or possibly they want your attention because you're watching tv and they want to be petted number eight boston terriers are a breed that needs minimal grooming so you're not gonna have to spend an arm and a leg to groom your dog it's something that you can easily do yourself number nine boston terriers are amazing family dogs emily and i we had bella for eight years before we had our kids now we have two kids a two and a half year old and now a ten month old had to think about that for a second no he's nine months a nine month old and bella's done great with them you know transitioning from no kids to all of a sudden now we have a family of four and family of five with bella this is perfect if you're looking for a dog that's gonna be able to transition through life with you number 10 this is something you're into boston terriers need clothes if you're somewhere where it gets cold definitely anywhere below 30 degrees your boston is gonna want a jacket or some sort of clothes whenever it goes outside to do its business bella here has a nice little jacket that we put on her and whenever it's cold like snowing out she won't go outside without it even booties she's gotten out of the booty phase but if you like to dress up your dog boston terriers are perfect for this not only is it something that's cute but it's something that's practical and they actually need number 11 boston terriers are great snugglers they're going to be right next to you whenever you're on the couch they're going to want to be right by your side that's the type of dog breed you're looking for they're perfect number 12 boston terriers are smart and really intelligent which makes them very easy to train number 13 boston's have a lot of personality whether it comes to their zoomies or just funny facial characteristics i've been around a number of other boston's and just their personality comes out it's always joyful and happy number 14 of course boston terrors are cute number 15 which i like boston terriers don't smell like other dogs growing up as a kid you know we've had dozens of dogs like dalmatians uh we had saint bernard for a while i mean literally we've had tons of different dog breeds throughout my early childhood i feel like they tend tended to make the house smell like dog bella here just because of her limited grooming needs she doesn't make the house stink or i've lived in my house too long and maybe it stinks terribly but i can't tell that they smell and i've talked to other people and this is also what they like about the breed number 16 boston terriers live a long life in general they're going to be living anywhere from 11 to 15 years number 17 boston terriers love to sunbathe if they can find a little sunspot by the window they're going to be laying right there next to it and it's kind of funny because i refer to bella as my little sundial she'll pretty much move throughout the day wherever the sun is you know when it's high noon you know when it's early morning based on where bella is positioned throughout the house number 18 zoomies bella doesn't do this as often as she did whenever she was younger whenever she was younger like below the age of three at 9 30 pm no matter what she was doing zoomies at night and what that is basically she runs as fast as she can one direction does a little circle loop and then she'll freeze right in front of you and then she'll go back right at it again so it's awesome you should definitely check it out there's some videos that you can check out here where boston terriers are doing zoomies it's one of the funny things they do number 19 basically getting back to the whole american dog remember there's only 50 states in the united states and a boston terrier there's literally hundreds of different dog breeds by akc just off the top of my head i want to say there's over 190 and boston terriers made the cut to be one of the state dogs you guessed it the state of massachusetts has the boston terrier as its state dog that's pretty impressive and number 20 they love to give you kisses and to the point where i remember whenever bella was younger she would literally just like lick the couch lick different objects if she wasn't able to give you kisses this is something that if you don't enjoy kisses a boston terrier might not be the right dog breed for you anytime i come back from a run she like i'm her little salt block and she wants to lick my leg drives my wife nuts boston terriers love giving
