the Atari 2600 came out in 1977 and they were making first party Atari games until 1990. it would be like if they were still making any yes games right before the Dreamcast came out in this series I like to do I usually do system by system so like for Atari 2600 I might say Atari 7800 which came out about May of 1986. but the NES also came out in 1986. and as you're already typing your comments I know it came out like 1985 but that was kind of like a soft open for me I think most people went from Atari 2600 to the NES so it just makes more sense to me in my mind anyway it's not all of them but here are over 20 Atari 2600 games that came out after the NES was launched you're subscribed right yes good all right check it out starting off with Junior Pac-Man Junior Pac-Man on this one uh it plays like a decent Pac-Man game it certainly plays better than the Pac-Man game that we all grew up with on the 2600. this one actually Scrolls a little bit now Pac-Man Jr or Junior Pac-Man in this case in the arcade scrolled left or right interesting that this scroll rolled up to down but still for a Pac-Man game plays pretty well and cool to see that they made it Junior Pac-Man on the 2600 I was always crossing my fingers for a professor Pac-Man or super Pac-Man for the 2600 but we never got that we did get Junior Pac-Man all right you can eat the bikes perfect we got Midnight Magic which is a video pinball and this is a pretty simplified video pinball game even for the Atari 2600 now I played a lot of video pinball for the Atari when I was growing up and this game I just well I mean more to it for sure as far as video pinball goes I guess only so much you can do on a 2600 controls on a video pinball game still weren't very good on this one you have to move the the joystick either left or right to use the left and right paddles or down in this case uh to use them both kind of weird but you know you kind of get used to it and again not a whole lot going on with this game but cool to see that they release something like this on the Atari 2600 dark Chambers this is a game I wish they would have come out with earlier I would have this game may have been my favorite game on the Atari if this would have come out you know in the early 80s it plays a lot like a gauntlet it plays a lot like a gauntlet nice huge maze to explore you can defeat the enemies and everything like that yeah like I said you know just a nice exploration scroll the dungeons kill the guys you know cool idea very well executed as far as the 2600 is concerned dark Chambers might be worth checking out for you we have Sprint Master this is Sprint master and you've seen Sprint you've seen Super Sprint well it's a lot like that two-player version scroll around the tracks and everything you can pick up items that are on the ground too and it also doesn't control very well just like the other Sprint games when you're trying to play with a controller and not like a steering wheel but still very cool to see um I I like playing Super Sprint on the NES and I did play the original Sprint that black and white one I played a bunch of that in the arcade just because I could because it was you know you've got to play with the steering wheel it's kind of fun Sprint Master for the 2600 there you go well we had a few of the games series and we had California games now this game I had in this game I played a lot believe it or not yet when more and more people were getting an NES I didn't get an NES till later in life so I did I kept playing my Atari 2600 for a while until I finally got my NES now California games features uh four different games on this one you have the hacky sack which I actually really enjoyed the hacky sack mode I don't know why I just I I just liked it you could spin around and you know hit it and stall it and things like that you know catch it on your foot and get extra points and all that there was a skateboarding which I wanted to like I can never quite get a hang of how to skateboard on these ramps and stuff like that for this game anyway there was the BMX portion which was probably my personal favorite I was a big fan of the BMX part uh because you can do the backflips you can do a little nosy wheelie there's a nosy I guess what is it called it just makes it makes a funny sound when you play in this game so do that as often as I could just you know go through and grab the flags the flags of your checkpoint in this one then you had the surfing mode and the surfing mode I thought looked really visually appealing for for especially for the 2600 game and kind of fun you can kind of like you know go up and you know up and down the the tube or the lip what do you call the top of the uh the wave there you can try to Hang Ten I always wipe out every time California games I play this a bunch and I honestly think this game this California game for the 2600 is better than the NES version we also had Summer Games this is Summer Games now you choose your country and then you uh do your best a few few things you can do in this one get the hurdles it starts out with you have the amazing outstanding wonderful swimming which I have no idea how to play this game I'm I'm sure there are other games after this I'm not gonna worry about it we're gonna go next to Winter Games all right so yeah you know what I'm just gonna move on move on from Summer Games let's go straight to Winter it's colder over here not sweating so much well we have the skiing the slalom and everything and then these they call it sled in this one you know what it is I mean they just call it sled in this one visually appealing when you go around the turns and everything like that this is amazing for 2600 game you can do this well it can do this like it's called to see yes I have the ski jump the ski jump was always kind of fun because I more like never mind doing the tricks and everything I liked watching the little uh icon up in the top of the screen especially when you wipe out you start like doing all these broken leg flips and stuff like that oh well yeah there you go yeah yeah California game Summer Games Winter Games they never did make a spring or fall games I guess they wouldn't need to I don't know this game look familiar to you yeah Kung Fu Master well you might know it best is kung fu on the NES but Kung Fu Master uh plays the same really I mean you know to the best they can do for the 2600 uh as you just defeat the guys and hope they don't get close enough because when you get close enough then they really start taking away the damage off your uh Health meter this is not the last NES game that you know best on NES that you'll see on this list in fact there's a few of them and you won't believe what they look like on the 2600 if you haven't seen them yet yeah they're some pretty crazy games coming up Sea Hunt what'd you call me wait no the game is called Sea Hunt and you uh jump in the sea and hunt for Treasure as you use your little Harpoon wheelio to uh to defeat these uh enemies and stuff like that um I never really got into this game in fact this is one of the few times I ever played this game but I did come out came out after the NES came out definitely worth showing off title match pro wrestling is a pro wrestling game that came out for the Atari 2600 and you know what it doesn't play terrible especially for a 2600 game it plays better than WrestleMania on the NES I'll give you that plays maybe a little bit better than pro wrestling doesn't play better than pro wrestling on the Sega Master System that I don't know um but definitely plays better than WrestleMania on the NES because when you hit the button you do stuff like body slams and stuff like that it's not just like only select people can body so anyways you just keep matching the buttons and defeat the guys and there you go title Championship pro wrestling no no sorry titled match pro wrestling there you go title match pro wrestling in this one for the 2600 very cool to see got a game called off the wall here's Off the Wall now for the 2600. assuming two guests to assume that you that is the Great Wall of China uh with the Chinese type dragon not the top of the screen there and then your uh the little dude down there paddle game on this one you move the paddle left and right and then it plays like a breakout clone maybe a little bit like arcanoid because there are power-ups you can use to uh to do better to defeat more than the wall I suppose there you go one of those kind of games here's a game called radar lock this is radar lock has a cool little opening here when you zoom off and everything ah this is your Atari version of a Top Gun maybe even a little bit like an afterburner maybe a little bit closer to like a Top Gun though um as you scroll through and you can use your little radar at the bottom there to find out where the enemy ships are to defeat them before they get you and you don't want them to get you ever radar lock is the name of this game here here's Roadrunner what I was talking about some more NES games that you might see on this list Well Road Runner uh makes sense it was from Atari and then the Tanga you know whatever um I liked this game there's this I don't know what it is I've never seen in the arcade like once and I played it on the NES you know probably more than that but I really like this I mean the Atari version is not exactly the same it's just more of a straight road and then you just have the piles of bird seed and you still have to avoid Wiley Coyote Wiley coating the red Runner uh some of my favorite Looney Tune cartoons love those characters and not a not a terrible Atari 2600 game I'm I mean again it's not exactly the same but for what they could do yeah it's not bad I'm a big fan of road runners so here we go secret Quest now this game looks like it could have been just one of those Atari games that you missed because this one looks like an Atari game now there you go uh so secret Quest is the name of this game as you go through these maze type things yeah you see these before the like the like the sword Quest earthquest whatever the quests were and everything like that's a secret Quest it's not part of the same series of quests um but nice to see that you defeat the enemy it's cool how the enemies kind of zoom in on screen and everything and you defeat them and you move on uh that's the case with probably every game ever made the enemies and you move on this game might be worth checking out to you and what is the secret to the quest I I could not tell you I might have to ask Victoria on that one did you know they made Double Dragon for the Atari 2600 oh yeah they did Buddy 1989 Double Dragon for the Atari 2600 here we go it's cool to see the technos of Japan actually listed on an sorry game all right a little bit of this here here we go look at the music and everything that's not terrible all right you can punch if you uh down an attack is your kick and then up an attack that's your kind of jump kick and everything it's a whole lot of this man it's a whole lot of this as much as you can handle it Double Dragon for the 2600 there you go they made one just like they made Rampage for the Atari 2600 that's right you know a while back I did showcase um just about every game I could find that were both on the Atari 2600 and the NES if you haven't done so yet make sure you check out that video I have two videos so uh watch one then watch the other and Rampage again plays very well uh because all you need is just the you know the punch button the graphics aren't the greatest I'll I'll give it that the graphics aren't great however the game does play like Rampage as you you know climb up the buildings and Bash them down and everything like that if you can get past how the graphics look and everything um it actually it still plays pretty well it really it really does here's a game called fatal Run for the Atari 2600 what makes it a fiddle run well this is a racing game it's just enough of the driving game it's another driving game another racing game who you're racing from I don't know it's just a driving game it's another driving game all right it looks interesting when you blow up they all get because a scrambled rectangle of nonsense okay hey how about another game that you played on the Indiana Sakari warriors on this one here's a card yeah they made akari Warriors can you believe it akari Warriors for the Atari 2600 and this one did come out um this one may have been launched about the same time maybe even after the NES version that's how that's how retro this is you can still hop inside the tanks you can still lock grenades and everything so I mean at the time if you are still rocking at Atari 2600 you didn't quite have the NES yet you loved playing akari Warriors in the arcade all right fine Moto Rodeo Moto Rodeo interesting game on this one there's a few different gameplay modes you can check out and interesting how they made the tires look because you're just always zooming through and you know two player on this one and then yeah they do like just go off these ramps and you can do flips and stuff like that it's interesting to see I'll give it that it's it's a pretty interesting title to check out uh Moto Rodeo Moto Rodeo I might want to look into it xenophobe another a game that you may have played in the arcade and this one it doesn't I mean even the NES game doesn't play that great versus the arcade game and the Atari version I mean best they could do with just a you know joystick and a one single button I mean if you use your imagination oh you know what's going on if you've played this game in the arcade you know what's going on if you hadn't well it might be a little confusing on what's going on uh but you know you can kind of figure it out anyway you pick up the items you can pick up better guns you kill the aliens you're supposed to you know grab the key card or whatever go from there and I have a couple more games I want to show you xenophobe was the final game released in the United States as far as that goes uh but a couple games that came out in Europe uh to make the Atari 2600 last longer there was a Ghostbusters 2 game that we never got I'm sorry we didn't uh Ghostbusters 2 came out uh for the 2600 uh pal regions on this one and it just takes place as the as you're going down the rope in the into the sewer system like for the movie is one of those things right all right all right Wheels had clax and Clacks for the 2600 plays extremely well if you're a big fan of clax I liked clocks I'm a I'm not a fanatic but I am a fan of clax and I still play it every once in a while I still come back to it sometimes on various platforms usually the NES that's what I have handy but it actually it plays well on the Atari 2600 I wish this would have come out sooner if this would have come out before Tetris would this have been the game that everyone talked about that everyone play I don't know I don't know I don't know three in a row either cross down or diagonal or four in a row or five in a row um you can Chuck the tiles back up the screen and you can stack them however you want to stack them you can stack more than one too to put them exactly the position that you need to put them in clocks is a great game I think it's a great great puzzle game doesn't get enough love but you get enough love for me because you're awesome and amazing and wonderful and you can check out these other videos in the meantime of the same series that I've been doing that showcases games that came out for a console when the newer console came out but they still showed love maybe we missed because we moved so quickly to the new stuff that the old system still had some other games on there that we didn't quite get a chance to check out uh because this is how how it works
