traveling the Philippines is one big adventure from start to finish it all started with strapping our bags to a motorized tricycle we were on a boat almost every day there's incredible food bus rides with two high stacks of chickens and cardboard boxes flights on airlines we' never even heard of night markets these jeepy things to get from City to City boats through underground Rivers whatever this is and it just kept getting more awesome as the days went on I mean this place has everything 7,000 Islands world class snorkling and Diving incredibly friendly people beaches so beautiful that they just look fake there's no real set tourist path and we have no real plans except that we have to make it to Manila in 2 weeks time however we can we've got our usual $100 per day budget and our adventure starts right here on the remote island of [Music] paoan best way to start a vacation walking off the plane into Sun the airport here is really small and very much has that Island life vibe to it the humidity just hits you as soon as you get off the plane and then you walk directly from there through the one room terminal and then right out the doors to find your way into the city speaking of that this is our first of many run-ins with the ubiquitous Filipino tricycle these things are everywhere and are the main form of short distance Transportation around here part tuck tuck part motorcycle part repurpose front half of a Toyota Camry all awesome couple more minutes I think we made it oh shoot we didn't have change for the tricycle so I quick ran into the hotel for some help oh okay there you go thank you very much you got it there yeah noty not I know she has all the everything else she is so strong okay all right bye bye by bye yay they just straight up borrowed us to oh that's so nice what talk about trust oh we checked into our very jungle themed hotel dropped off our bags and then went out to record our legally required YouTube style intro and go over the game playay all right we made it we're here in the Philippines in Puerto Princessa after like 19 plus hours of travel we finally made it here and now we're at the busiest intersection in town and like wo there's stuff going on all over the place so we're here for like 2 weeks and honestly we have absolutely no plan we know we're starting here in Puerto Princessa and we know we got to leave out of Manila in like 2 weeks from now to be honest I have no idea what to expect out of this place and this is vastly different than what I thought it would look like I'm just really excited we got a couple of side quests we got to complete now that we've arrived here number one we got to find some good food number two we got to figure out what's going on with a Subterranean River and then decide if we're going to go into that Subterranean River it's going to be great we have a lot to learn okay let's go I mean would it really be a YouTube video without something like this the layout of Puerto Princessa goes like this church Hotel restaurant bar back to church another hotel another restaurant another bar all them connected via two major roads with tricycles zooming people around between guys hey Puerto Princessa very Dynamic so far I'm loving how like different everything is I love the tricycles you know like every car that was on Pimp My Ride on MTV had its unique flavor and eccentric [Music] City that's how it feels here this place is really cool we walked and walked until we found the perfect place for lunch the friendliest bar in town have a seat Che to the start of our Filipino Adventure so exciting oh yeah yeah yeah listen I can I can feel you judging me through the camera right this palpable I can feel that we've been on planes for 19 hours straight and after all of that the only thing I could think of that I'd want is just a whole bunch of french fries and a nice beer and I feel like you might want the same too when you get here oh right don't worry we got some real local food too Beast tealo looks and smells good how is really good Savory gravy okay so side quest number one completed now we are on to number two so we had heard like the thing to do here on Palawan is to go and see this like underground Subterranean those are the same words Cave System thing that's like 2 and 1/2 hours to the northwest of here but there's like a ton of complicated paperwork things that you got to do to be able to accomplish it so we got to figure out what's going on with that they call it the new they call it one of the new seven natural wonders of the world listen I don't know who comes up with these lists or who the judges of these things are but either way it looks really fun so we made our way to the extremely easy to remember Puerto princess's Subterranean River National Park protected area management office or p pap for short to unravel the Subterranean mystery ahead of us are they here are they gone it's on the second floor okay so if we go we're going to have to wake up at 5:00 a.m. get our own transport of to saone but first we have to get a permit here at this office okay so we went into what's this thing called the Puerto Princessa Subterranean River National Park okay so we went into the Puerto princess Subterranean National Park office the way most people go to see this like big Subterranean river that I think is the most popular tourist thing to do on this entire island is generally like book a tour and that tour cost somewhere between like $50 to $70 since our cheapness knows no bounds we uh we're going to DIY this entire thing which honestly I'm pretty excited about they brought us in we had to show them our passports and then they give us this entry permit you don't actually pay them for this at all here you pay them once you get to saon which is where we're going in 2 days on Saturday so okay let's go paperwork side quest accomplished it's time to go explore Puerto Princessa I got to say walking around Porto Princessa is really fascinating I think when I we first looked up like what this town was like I was expecting Resort towns really bougie hotels on the beach and maybe we're not in that area but I love the city like here there's so much life there's so much energy these like tricycles going around feels like a rally everywhere you go everyone's super friendly and this is like genuinely just a really cool Filipino City it's so pretty look at [Music] this okay we're heading back to the hotel now we're going to do a quick room tour to show off this place the hotel looks super cool and we're going to go ask the lady at the front desk where we should go for dinner and just go wherever she tells usour this is our $40 night Bungalow jungle Puerto Princessa Hut I think it's a Hut I don't know what this material is made out of but it is awesome and natural and cool a little bit creepy at night with lighting but some really cool and interesting Decor it's super colorful in the daytime though two twins siize beds fans an AC not going to lie some bug [Music] Boos okay let's go eat okay a night market this is a lovely [Music] surprise look at this there's just like infinite of these cool like palm trees just going all the way down here this big wide open space there's music being played there's this cool restaurant view out over the harbor this is awesome there are plenty of fancy schmancy restaurants here of course but you know how we do by now I think we're going to go grab some of the street food from back there this all seems a little too too bougie for our taste so I think I don't know one of those corn things look good you want to try one of those [Music] it smells so good did you see it was like a vat of corn and then a vat of corn like the corn was in a vat of corn So Meta oh that's good it's so fresh and it's huge I really really like this area cuz it just feels like l back chill you can tell people come here just to hang out with their families people on tricycles dogos everywhere good food and there's like fancy restaurants but also street food and it's corn this corn is great it's so sweet as we walking around here I'm realizing that like 60% of all these restaurants are just burger joints which I'm I'm very surprised I guess I mean you know the hamburger is this ubiquitous delicious thing I understand that I think I'm looking for something more local but I I just don't know where to find it so I walked up to Angel's barbecue got in line and had absolutely no idea what I was doing I don't know what I'm doing from the limited amount that I could see through the thick layers of smoke coming off the grills there were endless metal tins filled to the brim with Meats of every kind I got a plate and just started filling it up with various red colored animal parts on sticks I even got a fried spring roll s lpia appetizer plate and then waited patiently for the grill Master to work is Magic all right so we're starting out with some lomia and then they are going to be grilling Meats I'm not sure exactly what kind as well as the hot dog green that I [Music] got Hi friend oh [Music] wow we both waited patiently and a few minutes later my name was called and a plate of grilled deliciousness [Music] arrived SM oh yeah what is it I got all this including that for like a15 I dodged that question because honestly I had no idea what it was that's awesome I think it's chicken I'm not sure tastes kind of like chicken but it sure was good thank you that was super tasty you guys know how much I love grilled Meats right that's become obvious over time I think it's time I think it's time to find a little dessert I can't say no to a good V interesting delicious little pillowy thing that's really nice that's really nice you got to try one of these we wild away the rest of the night with our beignet and the sound of good music right on the riverfront until the jet leg finally got the best of us ah home sweet home good morning okay so our plans for today are to go to Honda Bay which should be like I don't know 45 minutes north we're not exactly sure how to get there but we heard that jeep knees are probably the best way but we don't know what a Jeep knee is but I think we're going to find out today first breakfast our hotel comes with breakfast which is pretty sweet let's do it breakast while this place is so beautiful and such a gym this like restaurant on the top roof over here and then we saw it the thing that would dictate our entire schedule for the next 2 days there's like giant cruise ship right now and you can hear the announcements in the singing which is funny it's like an odd site to see we didn't know that Puerto Princessa was a big cruise ship Hub but after asking the waiters here we got the inside scoop when a cruise ship is in Harbor you have to get out and do everything early before they do what you got on the road so off we went in search of the myth ological jeepney we are out and about we are trying to go to the jeepy terminal I don't know yeah je one of those oh yeah maybe one of those we're going to try to take one to St Lord's warp and that apparently is where we can get to Honda Bay lots of learning we're going to walk now I think it's just down the road that's what our hotel hold it took us about 4 seconds after leaving our hotel to come across our first one but which one would bring us to Honda Bay this is an adventure already I love looking look at this scene the jeepy was originally a repurposed leftover American World War II vehicle that works so well as a solution for public transport that it just [Music] stuck the search continued we walked and walked passing jeepneys of all different colors and names and destinations we had no idea how the system worked at all we just saw people hop on we're just we're just kind of waiting at what we think is the station for jeepy we haven't seen any anything yet for St Lord's not entirely sure how the system works but honestly it's been fun trying to figure it out also it's just been fun standing here and looking at all the different modes of transportation go by we saw Gary we saw Lucy Janet we saw we saw napnap there are some really tricked out tricycles here there's Bogle ooh there's one for St Lord's let's hop in okay we're on let's hope that this goes where we need it to go 45 minutes later the driver informed us that we were at the stop for Honda Bay so we paid up and just hopped off on the side of this busy highway sorry all right thank you [Music] tell me what just happened I don't know what just happened I think we're here but it says Honda Bay do we walk yeah I guess so so it was it was either 70 for the two of us or 80 something like that he gave a big bunch of coins back it's a little bit opaque for us right I think it's an awesome form of transportation so okay we're going to walk down this road and then I think we're going to try to find a boat to take us out to an island and maybe do a little snorkeling we also don't know how any of that works there I know we seem unprepared maybe even borderline ridiculous and I'm definitely feeling that right now but I don't know we're figuring it out we're figuring it out we walked about a mile down a road lined with entrepreneurial Ventures all selling delicious snacks so we picked up a few goodies for a boat Adventure 15 minutes later we arrived at the warf ready to unravel yet another mystery I think what we do is get in line and pick what islands we want to visit and pay the fees I don't know there's a very clear system for all this that seems to work in ways that we've never seen or experienced before so we just had to kind of bumble our way through all of it we've been trying to figure out how any of this thing works we were about to get on a boat with some guys but then they couldn't get us on the boat so now we have to sort out a different way we can share with people but we can't share with people to be honest I don't know how any of this works after about an hour we just threw our hands up and ponied up for a private boat tour to four Islands here's this handy sheet they gave us which kind of explained how how much all of it cost we're getting on a boat we made our way to a boat with our notebook full of papers and started our Tour all these papers are our receipts to get onto the islands I don't know what happened we tried to get on to like a share a boat Adventure cuz it's definitely cheaper to go with like uh you know other people we're on a six passenger boat for a minimum six passenger boat by ourselves because there were no boats and no one else to share with unfortunately but we got but we got a big boat we all to ourselves for like 50 something dollars this is pretty cool [Music] though where were we headed again oh here we are starfish Island despite its name this place had absolutely zero starfish but did have a truly spectacular Beach seems like the thing to do is hop in there so uh you're going in here [Music] okay this is pretty great it's beautiful this is pretty great so [Music] pretty okay that was fun uh what we heading to [Music] Next I think our next island is not actually an island it looks like it's this Hut floating in the middle this is really [Music] cool guess you just hop in and uh see what's going on down there seaes are a little rough today should be fun [Music] you wa so many fish down here woo a little bit too close there buddy well that escalated quickly free fish pedicure I guess okay this was cool and super fun I think we're heading on to the next Island okay we're going off to the next Island that we definitely know the name of we going to put it here probably if we find out on our way to our third island we had a realization it didn't really matter which ones we picked all of them were awesome in their own way and there was no one right tour to take that theme would continue throughout our time here in the Philippines but there was no time to ruminate on that important life lesson we're here that is some Precision parking right there this is pile we're like on a thin thin Sandbar [Music] wow LLY Island was the best yet at tiny sandb out in the middle of the ocean complete with beer and coconut statues a restaurant water hammocks and these floaty picnic table things that were perfect for us to dig into our snacks and talk about this whole experiment incredible truly awesome oh the camera is moving the whole entire thing makes no sense and it's amazing it's so cool I definitely was worried in the beginning that this wasn't going to feel worth it you know and I hate that thought when you're going to a new place and you're trying something new you have to like weigh out is this going to be worth it this definitely feels worth it I can't believe this is only day two [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay awesome thank you guys now we got to figure out how to get back home we made it about 10 steps down the road when a Jeep need to exactly our neighborhood rolled up and we just hopped right [Music] in now 11 we Jeep me can't wait to see who hops out once you're on the system kind of works like this if you're the person sitting right behind the driver it's your job to handle all the exchanging of money for everyone else on the Jeep every new person that gets on yells up to the driver where they're going and hands up some amount of money determined mysteriously the driver makes change in between gear shifts as he's driving and then it's your job to pass the change back to that person everyone just looks at you waiting patiently for you to hand their change back and we tried our best to keep up with all the money going going back and forth without screwing it up starting to look familiar what a fun way to get around and it felt kind of nice to be useful for [Music] once okay we're back finally we're just going to rinse off change and uh grab some more cash and go get some food Lisa is tired yeah well Lisa was in the shower I had a few minutes to hatch a secret plan Lisa's in the shower so real quick uh tomorrow is our anniversary I found this place you can book with Marriott points 21,000 to be exact at the underground river that we're heading to tomorrow and it looks crazy it just looks it looks so cool uh incredibly luxurious oh no she's out I'll tell you more later let's go is the sun still out it is we wandered around until we found nevas a colorful pizza place with one very skeptical local it's not yet 5:00 p.m. so per usual we always show up at the odest hours but they're open and there's a cute kitty and we're ordering food and I'm excited Josh just spilled water every wear look at the size of this Ice Cube It's like Titanic mhm as you can probably tell from our energy levels here we hadn't quite kicked the jet leg but you're welcome for the cute cat content let's fast forward to the good stuff wood fired oven pizza and Lio thank you thank you very much that it's great oh my God it smells so goodess you it smells so good perfect that's really good is that really good so good it's just like soft and crispy and melt in your mouth I think it's pork belly that's really good this Kitty's really [Music] hungry bye I know you're just hungry we walk down the street to the first and only craft beer and paoan to sample some more of the local [Music] flavors so we just got to Pino Brewery and it is awesome here the beers are so good they're light and fizy kind of like bubbly the meat sticks were amazing and all all it is super affordable and I read that the this Brewery is actually the only woman run Brewery in all the Philippines I love this place [Music] 20 I won okay I let her win no I didn't she's just really good at darts [Music] the perfect way to end the day I think there's only one other thing that we have to do now take one of these awesome tricycles back which one will it be Janet Karen what about jod [Music] J thank you very much byebye bye bye tomorrow we are going to go at 5: in the morning maybe 5:30 to catch a tricycle to then go to the bus station to then hopefully be able to grab a bus really early to make it to sabong before all the people from the cruise ship get there because apparently once the people from the cruise ship get to this underground river that we're going to it's just going to be game over everyone at the office just kept saying you might want to get there before 700 a.m. I don't know know you know really how that's going to work and then second of all we got to find somewhere to stash our stuff and then we got to figure out how to I don't know how to even get over to the underground river thing in the first place get a boat it's basically going to be the same things that we did today but hopefully tomorrow we're going to be smarter and better at it than we were today but it all worked out today so it did it did we I think we just paid you know like $ 20 more dollars than I think somebody who was more prepared would have paid oh sure I think the tours are significantly more oh the tours are crazy and we got to ride Jeep twice and that was really fun that was fun okay that is it for tonight we're going to see you in the morning oh my gosh step number one find a tricycle to the bus station ah there she is T laa number two step two get to the bus station [Music] thank you very much okay thank you very much byebye so I think we're at the bus terminal San Jose bus terminal so we don't really see a lot of buses there are a lot of Vans and a jeepy that was full there was something about a travel agency over in the second one let's see if we can get to step three get a ride to sabon we saw a sign that said tourist destinations and booking office and lo and behold there are some Vans available and two seats available for us on one of these lovely air conditioning morning so for the two of us it's 700 pesos which is about 14 us to get all the way to saang oh yeah step three was easy or so we thought okay so actually there's only one seat in the van available we're maybe taking this cheing hopefully everyone nicely shuffled around so that we could fit it was amazing okay time for an adventure [Music] oh and we're stopping maybe people getting off don't worry everybody's going to fit oh off again the going was beautiful and we were actually having a blast a quick tap tap meant we were good to go and a honk meant that we were about to stop there's even someone on top of the jeepy this entire ride passing Goods up and back down as we went fruits vegetables 20t long metal poles it didn't matter anything and everyone was always welcome there were definitely moments along this journey where genuinely felt like this thing just wasn't going to make it somehow even though people kept hopping on board and more and more stuff kept getting put on the roof everyone and everything fit it's incredible to see no matter how cramped it got no matter how impossible it seems people always made room for one more even if that meant literally hanging off the side of the Jeep knee I mean I know exactly how a situation like this would go down where I'm from people would desperately need to maintain their personal bubble and half of the people who are now happily on their way would have been left stranded on the roadside for the sake of the comfort of the lucky few that did make [Music] it we passed through endless tiny Villages filled with shacks and homes and businesses we dropped off boat anchors and gas canisters that were barely riding on top of us the entire time until we finally made it all all the way to saon this the oh there's the beach [Music] okay back it out once we got out and got a moment to look back at all the stuff we've been hauling this entire time I mean we were just blown away how how did this ancient diesel truck move all these people and all this stuff and how does it do it twice every single day that was super fun and we made it we're at the beach sabang beach and it's incredibly beautiful that was like what two 2 and 1 half hours of fun adventure I'm kind of actually glad that we ended up taking the Jeep me over the shared van we were all packed up and I was like surely we can't fit I witnessed the most beautiful thing they picked up another woman this woman carrying her son just like mov over squished closer and like welcomed the woman in and held her it was really sweet this is such a cool Journey um I think now we have to get to the underground river I'm not sure where that is but I think we can drop off our bags there yeah the hostiles just up the road then we had our first chance to actually look at where we ended up I think it's just up around here on the right the uh hostel was just down the beach so blue it's so pretty the mountains are incredible I don't know where we're going these look very fancy no it's just up here just on the other side of this it's a little out of town we couldn't really see much because we were so like squished in which was probably for the best but it's so incredible that like 2 and 1/ half hours later we're here with this view what so this is our hostel no this is not our hostel this is a this is not a hostel what is this place Happy Anniversary what this is crazy I don't understand this is so beautiful what how much was this points good morning good morning look you wow so beautiful oh no way look at all this stuff wow thank you thank you so much okay byebye what is this you sneaky this is incredible wait it's on the bed I didn't even notice it it smells so good in here I feel so sweaty and I don't feel like we deserve to be here this is so [Music] nice this is so nice this is like the stuff you see in movies this is the stuff you SE in movies I want to finish my drink they gave us a welcome drink and I was so excited that there they gave us a welcome drink and there's jelly and stuff in here and then I was just excited about this mission accomplished where do I start this is this is just a level of luxury that uh is a little bit embarrassing and definitely something that we only do very infrequently like you know for this like this might be the best single points redemption and that's kind of what this whole like credit card turning points game is Just that's what it's all about right is that these special moments that only come around once a year once every two years whatever where we like to splurge or we like to do something a little bit silly a little like over the top this is definitely over the top to for us and we would not have been able to do this without all those points and all the credit cards and all the other things that we did which reminds me if you out there want to learn how to do this how to get a hotel room in a resort like this for free our entire credit card turning course as well as a whole bunch of other stuff is on our patreon we got the director's commentaries we got every single video we've ever made ad free we got the bloopers we got the full City Guides we got the maps to everywhere that we go on every one of these trips so head on over to the patreon sign up you'll get full access to the course no matter which level you sign up for okay I think Lisa is about to get out of the shower so I think we're going to pack up and we're going to try to do this underground river thing uhoh are you coming out of the shower hold on oh no I'm just yep I'm not talking to a camera that's definitely not what I'm doing okay probably don't come out of the bathroom until you're till you're decent okay okay and I know if you're watching this you're probably like worried that this Channel and all the stuff we're doing is starting to get like incrementally more bougie over time and things like that and I I understand that worry and I know that this is like dangerously on that territory but just know that this is not that this is not a slowly just getting bouier and boier over time and fancier and slowly slipping into that luxury lifestyle I just really wanted to surprise my wife on our anniversary with something really nice this is the kind of thing that I put my toiletries in oh yeah and like just to make it super clear this is not a brand deal or anything like that we didn't sign on with Maria we're not like getting paid by them in any way shape or form for any of this they just surprised us with something really nice cuz we told them that it was our anniversary and this Resort's pretty nice and we spent our own points to get it okay let's go it's like noon now and we Our intention was to get here 700 a.m. 8:00 a.m. even but with how the Jeep me went today and how long it took I think we're just going to try to go down to the underground river and hope that our competition is out for lunch right now so we heard it's just down the block so that's where we're going right now the block no just down by the [Music] beach we definitely didn't want to leave but the Subterranean Riv beckin this might be the town yeah I think we're seeing all of it right [Music] now so 2 minutes away from our hotel we have encountered all the competition look at all these Vans they're just infinite just infinite [Music] our gamble had luckily paid off almost all the cruise ship folks were out getting lunch so we were able to Quick get into lineing and get the overwhelming amount of paperwork sorted out in a hurry I think we paid so 500 pesos for the permit for per person and then since we went to the National Park yesterday as a part of Ponda Bay we don't have to pay for that we get an audio device I think that's like a tour guide for this thing now so we paid that now we go to the dispatch area and this is like the same thing where we can try to hook up with four other people for a boat and pay less or pay 1,100 pesos which is like $20 us for our entire boat want to see what's up yeah let's go just stay ready [Music] here it seems like everyone is in a part of a tour so we just we're we're going to do our own vot we had learned our lesson from last time and ooh Donuts yes [Music] please after a short wait our names were called and our boat L J was ready for us that's our sweet ride [Music] our stop life vest still firmly attached to us on land per our Captain's directions we put on our super duper extra safe helmets and walk down this perfectly Serene Pathway to another baffling group of people waiting for a boat there they go in the wild well got time for a snack it's donut with I think red bean in the middle of it although it's not red I don't know what kind of bean that is she said great another short wait and then our captain calls us forward we border with our group got our audio guide set up we were ready to go welcome to PTO Princessa underground National Park we about to enter the world's longest underground river UNESCO heritage site oh bats they said to keep our mouth closed cuz the bat boob will go into it yeah bat boob if you eat it so we're not going to say anything this is just going to be a Montage commencing Montage mode Montage mode Montage mode Mage mode [Music] the cave is truly spectacular with thousands of bats flying everywhere and attached to every nook and cranny of every wall and we learned all sorts of fun facts while our guide whistled [Music] hauntingly it was a truly surreal experience and then just 30 minutes later we made our way back out into the light so finally uh thanks God for I've never seen anything like that that was really cool helmet's off time to find our boat to make our way back to sabang I don't even know what time it is I feel like we just woke up rolled on to a jeepney and made it to this beautiful saang area got onto a boat and then another boat through some caves avoided some bat droppings and here we are what a fun day this is only day two three three Here Comes our bow that's our ride dad shall run [Music] another quick and beautiful boat ride capped off by picking up some other captains who were just out for a swim this was just like the jeepy Everyone is always welcome and there's always room and with that our Subterranean River experience came to a close thank you that was super fun it's like 300 p.m. now so it's time for [Music] breakfast cheers 3 years many [Music] more I got the chicken adobo this is our first adobo experience since we've gotten here oh wow it's that perfect mix of sweet and savory that I love so good it's like buttery and fresh palivan is known for their seafood and I see why also oh no I do occasionally eat things that aren't french fries I promise I swear okay it's not always french fries but this time this time it's french fries sabang is an idyllic tiny fishing Village framed by Misty Mountains and one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever seen there's a lot to love here and not a lot to do once your underground cave Adventure is done the only thing left to do are relax lay on the beach eat and relax some more so that's exactly what we did oh Yep this is our room still not a dream you want to go swimming yeah we don't get to use tropical house very often but this seems like the perfect time [Music] I lost I lost but there's no [Music] evidence we did take a quick break from all that to come up with the game plan for the next couple days okay so right here is an extremely poorly handrawn map that we did at a restaurant in the airport on the way here and I think we just got to give like a quick status update as far as where we're heading and what our plans are along the way like another Island that I didn't draw that I need to put in there now so far we started in Puerto Princessa over here and then we made our way up the coast a little bit to sabang which is where we are right now and then from sabang I think I don't know it seems like every place is heading to elnido don't you think like we've seen so many Vans to elnido at least is giving thumbs up from the corner over there so I kind of feel like ELO is the natural next spot to go go to the only thing I'm worried about is it just after a quick Google search it seems like there's not a lot of Transportation options out of Elo to anywhere other than coron or back to Puerto Princessa it's like a 5H hour trip from here to there so it'll be like probably 5 hours back I think today we just have to get ourselves from here to ELO and we'll just figure out what we're going to do after that I mean every single time that we've come to a place the way that we thought we we were going to get to the next place was not at all what actually happened in real life so we should probably go Reserve that van for tomorrow huh if that's when we're leaving at least it's giving me the saddest face I've ever seen yeah let's go get some tickets for this van tomorrow tickets tickets or maybe who knows what form this is going to come it'll just be like a you know like a handshake with somebody just be like thanks for coming to pick me up just like yep thanks thanks we're coming we'll show up please give us 2,000 pesos and we will show up tomorrow that's that's what we're going to do that's it that's the one can we just high five it maybe maybe fist yeah oh you got to a little further this way there you the turkey that was a turkey for a second if you haven't signed up for our patreon more of this action oh boy oh boy people are going to pay a lot for that that's for sure that's valuable stuff all right let's go get our van ticket thing so our hotel offered private van transfers that were way outside of our price range so we're just walking into town here to see if we can find some shared van transfers or something that is going to cost us less than $500 to do which I'm very hopeful very hopeful that exists uh cuz if not I guess we're just living here we move here honestly there worse Spates for sure there were a thousand vans in sight but only two van booking offices talk about a lucrative business so we headed to one of them to secure our spot a few thousand pesos traded in for a flimsy piece of paper and we had our transportation set for our official ticket to get to elnino right here this little white sheet of paper they're going to pick us up at our hotel which is awesome and it was 1,800 which is $35 or something like that to get all the way to ELO which that's great blah blah blah fancy Resort stuff Lisa said I don't want to leave this place five more times right around 400 p.m. all the other tourists went home saon suddenly transformed from a busy van parking lot back into an incredibly peaceful beautiful laidback fishing Village neither of us wanted to leave but Adventure calls I wasn't expecting it I think people just come here for the underground river and they don't stay but after being here I'm like why not mountains I want to [Music] leave but let's all go subscribe to boy Paulo on fishing TV tell Le some Josh sent you time for our romantic dinner on the beach so romantic I swatting away the sandflies to the Beat of the Music here Le on baby you jealous yes I would be a little jealous but I got two for one that's [Music] true a lot of little bones [Music] so nice with them but smell so my we packed up once again hopped in the back of the van and just like that we're on our way to Al needo as with all of our other Journeys there was always room for one more all right back on the road again or maybe not oh okay uh they just said the people going to alido you stop here and you wait for the next van 15 20 minutes maybe maybe sooner maybe later cool it's always an adventure there are some roosters here how will we know it always seems to work out somehow and always in an unexpected way okay now we're on the way to elnido we loaded up into another van and we even had new neighbors it was now my job to keep this talkative chicken in a cardboard box upright for the next 5 hours the scenery was beautiful but the going was really rough we're trying our hardest to do our job as travel YouTubers and force optimism into every scenario no matter how we're feeling but we were both getting pretty sick from the heat the road and the smell of the chickens making a big mess in their boxes 2 and 1/2 hours later we got to our first rest stop I think this is a rest stop so first of all we got the super crunch corn chips they're an all-time favorite I got some salting crackers chicken flavored chips but chick they're vegetarian though vegetarian chicha on it just chicken Flav sorry did you hear him yes he's mad about [Music] that more stops somehow even more chickens chicken no that's not a sound effect that's what it really sounded like most of the [Music] time mercifully chickens fully intact we finally made it to elnido it was nice to be greeted by our familiar your friend the tricycle so we waved one down and it took us to our Oasis of a hotel thank you very much byebye [Music] hey bunk bed we made it ELO that was an adventure that sure was something I can see why now they call this the Last Frontier the Last Frontier It's the Last Frontier we made it to the Last Frontier I don't know where we go from here I think it's time to eat lunch is what time it is or shower it's shower yeah yeah I got to get this chicken off meow the journey to elnido felt very last frontier the town itself was anything but Beach Club Vibes fancy cafes and restaurants right on that beach omnipresent house music and wow the views this place is incredible beautiful and in ining wa restaurants cafes dive shops boat tours El needo was popping seems like the thing to do here is definitely get on a boat but which one there's even a 24-hour laundry shop we dropped off some much needed to do laundry and went to go find a cute Cafe to grab some [Music] lunch it's been a running joke between the two of us that like we were going to come to the Philippines to have a burger but it's been enough days and we've seen enough burgers that I think it's time the burger was solid but nothing to write home about time to go explore the [Music] town well we got to do our daily ATM trip please work please work feel like we've just been on quests ever since we got here but this place El is popping it's like way way more busy than I anticipated it's very Lively very colorful there's like tricycles going up and down the streets everywhere a lot of souvenir shopping going on very busy it's fun it's very different than saon in a really good way then we headed back to our hotel to come up with a game plan for tomorrow and where we're heading next okay it's planning time here's our very well-drawn map here so uh we got to figure out basically like what we're doing for the next couple of days cuz it seems like it's starting to seem like that we really need to be planning a couple of days ahead to make any of this work I mean it's worked out it's worked out for us luckily with very little planning we've been able to get on a GNE we've been able to get on a tricycle we've been able to get on a shared van from here it it gets a little bit more difficult I was just checking the flights out of elnido which is only serviced by a single Airline which is called airswift and they are sold out forever I don't know I mean that basically leaves us with I think just heading forward think we also need to figure out what we're doing in Elo yeah the the people here at this hotel have been really really friendly and welcoming I feel like they have a lot of Intel yeah we should ask them okay let's go have you have you guys done all of these I've done okay all right we got a plan we got a plan super helpful they're so so helpful I got to say guys use the local Intel yeah for tomorrow here and ELO the thing to do thing to do is boat tour one of these boat tours and it's boat tour a b c and d and they all kind of go to like various different places we've been asking around and people have been telling us like choose t or a or T or C and we honestly have no idea how to pick they both look good let's flip that coin heads is a yep tails is D flip it here we go it's heads it's Heads tour a all right we're doing tour a 2 days from now we are are heading forward to coron we've decided on that yep we're going to take a boat there through I think Jalia shipping apparently this jamalia Ferry is only bookable through a hotel here that's over there but apparently again local Intel this hotel has an amazing view of elnido and some really great Cocktails so and a good happy hour some of my favorite things let's roll this is great okay so day after tomorrow 11:30 at the Port we show up with our QR codes and bring 20 pesos per person for the terminal fee and we get an outdoor seat same price for airon but we want it to be outside cuz you know wind air ocean since we're here uh they have a happy hour and a roof Rooftop Bar so you know we still had no idea how we were going to get from grone to wherever we decided to head next but that's a problem for future us right now we had a sunset a rooftop bar buy one take one drink specials and this [Music] view what a cool bar I think we're going to go try and find some dinner and I think also we're going to hit it kind of early tonight that that ride I mean I know we keep talking about it but that ride took everything out of us it's just exhausting we got a big day tomorrow big big day taking boats around the Philippines God what is our life what a joke of a wonderful existence this is let's get some dinner I didn't go anywhere there was nowhere to go it wasn't what I wanted to walk on a frame but then there was a mirror and I couldn't get out and just you know I thought I'd end the shot cut it but now we're [Music] here ELO really comes alive at night there's one major walking Street filled with all sorts of trendy Instagram bait restaurants and bars street food everywhere this dog and the smell of delicious barbecue everywhere speaking of [Music] that this look like a tasty like meat plus rip Place very simple food very cost effective food I think the most noteworthy thing for me is this dog that just totally snuck in he is very polite he just look at all right they called our number ten Po and then we went and got the tastiest grilled meat on Rice what more do you need all of our fresh laundry what a service I mean we dropped that off like 2 hours ago and it's already done and folding awesome this is our first real evidence of nightlife since we've uh since we made it to the Philippines and it's looking pretty fun out here at night for sure there's a lot of bars that are open till like I don't know 3: 4 a.m. a lot of them with like beer pong and other such fun activities we however were far too wiped out from our van Adventure so we made our way back to rest up for tomorrow's big boat Adventure time to go that right there is the face of somebody who wears t-shirts that says but first coffee hey [Music] so we set out for coffee and breakfast with a view and of course ELO delivered [Music] [Music] and hey she's [Music] alive time to go tour company's here hey we booked our boat tour through our hotel last night John of John and may came to pick us up took us down to the warf and W hi everybody the tour includes is all day cruise to two remote lagoons and even more remote beaches a fun party atmosphere snorkeling and a big lunch buffet all for $28 per person you'll see after a brief safety briefing it's brief twice and a reminder to never forget our boat's name don't forget to your boat name what's your boat name again nice we set safe everyone to all of you have a great day the tour started off as a relaxed island hopping Excursion but rapidly turned into a fun dance party atmosphere the beers were cheap the music was good the views were incredible and the stops just kept getting better and [Music] better we we're out of here [Music] okay can't forget William Jeremy number two William Jeremy number two it is wildly beautiful here it's busy for sure but so beautiful he's making a sand castle I'm just narrating what I see palm trees coconuts beautiful Island who before I go losing my voice over job here let me tell you what we're doing a little bit of snorkeling some absolutely beautiful views and back to William Jeremy number two we could get used to [Music] this we're at secret Lagoon now and apparently we're swimming and climbing rocks to get to said secret Lagoon so you're going in [Music] [Music] here okay definitely not a secret but pretty [Music] cool I got a ride thank you coconut man for getting my wife home safely another beautiful Cruise another dramatic anchor toss and it was time for lunch this day has been so incredible we're like middle of the day we're just sailing from cool place to cool place and everyone here is so nice time to eat the food was delicious fresh fish fruit the first non-fried vegetable we'd seen since we arrived ponit chicken and so much more [Music] I think it's safe to say that everybody liked the food when it felt like the day couldn't get any better we made it to our last destination the Big Lagoon hi this is this is the main event we are going to the Big Lagoon and we're going to kayak that's really close to my face some say that kaying is a true test of a relationship a couple already fell in right let's see how we do uh this is this is a test of our relationship yeah you're doing good thanks there you go wow look at this SM [Music] yay this is incredible like this is so beautiful yeah and the fact that we can just kayak in here and then it's like Rocky out there and then just the water is so blue green it doesn't make any sense doesn't make any sense wow this is like a na little thing our relationship stronger than ever we started our way back to the boat see she does pedal sometimes a little rocky today hey man [Music] we slowly cruised our way back to Port said goodbye to our wonderful captain and crew and unfortunately our awesome boat Adventure came to a close and the hardest part of the store say goodbye to you [Applause] for now okay so now we're just looking for a good place to go and watch the sunset just like last night which I think finding a cool Rooftop Bar also seems like a good idea for the second time today uh luckily we just messaged our hotel they got back to us and they said H hotel has good happy hour deals and has a great view so that's what we're going to go check out now [Music] waa what a view what's drinko Plinko I have to know I think the two warm bottles is the funniest and I don't know bartenders Revenge also sounds interesting yeah number four Bend okay we're doing drinko Plinko and I'm hoping for maybe two warm bottles of beer or maybe bartender's Revenge 4 6 2 that's that's what we're shooting for I don't know what the strategy is I've watched so much pric is right and I feel like I should be ready for this but I'm not okay bartenders Revenge I won I think or maybe I lost I'm not entirely sure yet but drinko Plinko was super fun and cost $5 to do and now I'm going to get something called the bartenders Revenge which when I was a bartender I know exactly how I would make that a few moments later taada here we go bartender Revenge she said it was letic I think is what she was saying said it's like a fried coconut skin but it's a different flavor that's actually really good that's actually really good they're much nicer to me it would have been to me yeah it's actually impossible for me to imagine anyone here ever being mean maybe it was the drink o Plinko drink maybe it was the ja a DJ set or the scenic Sunset there was just something special about ELO and we were really sad to have to leave [Music] tomorrow we made our way out past the very very dangerous and famous guard cat in search of some dinner he's getting his beauty sleep thank you [Music] [Music] we're at Po's PTO I haven't looked up what poto means yet but that's what we're going to [Music] get behold parz which we learn translates to Paar it's literally a pairing of beef stew and fried rice that's some comfort food oh that's so good we were so full ooh what's this donut I got some pastries on Elo Bakery I got Spanish roll that's good the dog is jealous honestly ELO wasn't expecting to like it so much because I had heard it was just so popular and fell into the tourist trap of thinking that tourist is bad but nope it was a great day pretty tired Sun tired so we're going to head home and pass out we've got an early morning we're going to Kone [Music] good night time to get up yeah we're off to coron today but first our last morning and last breakfast in eln this is actually a restaurant that our hotel recommended and we've been noticing that seog is the like thing to get for breakfast here which is basically a thing of rice usually garlic rice and then an egg of sorts and then something on the side so I got the fish seao and Josh I think got the spam seao and it comes with coffee and tea each of the plates were like 180 pesos Which is less than $4 so so so tasty so simple I love [Music] it just one last look it it's almost like it's a filter but it's not a filter so pretty time to go it occurred to a here that we were for sure moving way too fast on this trip in fact if we had more than 2 weeks here we would have easily spent another day or two here diving and enjoying the beautiful beach and great food scene [Music] coming okay back on the tricycle and off to the port [Music] made it tons of paperwork a few unexpected microtransactions and taxes and a very thorough security scan by this very cute dog and then we were off [Music] [Music] this is super nice so we're in the upstairs open air section and then there's an airon seating area too with preserve seating both are the same price we just wanted to be outside and see the sights these seats are comfortable and there's like little pockets here it's like an airplane but on a boat 3 hours [Music] place is just unreal it's unreal standing here right next to this engine because uh doing a hyperlapse for the next 15 20 minutes and I can't move cuz I got to hold it [Music] enjoy such a beautiful ride the captain even went out of his way to let me take a look at how this whole thing works welcome toon that was awesome they were so nice they just like saw me recording a bunch they were like why don't you come on in and check it out so I got to check out the inside of the cabin there's so much technology that goes into making this entire thing work the navigation they have like six guys up there they were all super friendly it was it was really cool and I learned a lot and apparently the best part is coming right up here [Music] [Music] a very comfortable 3 hours later and we docked in coron 4our Journey and we made it to coron it's so beautiful every part of the way uh yes another unexpected fee just another reminder that you should always have a bunch of cash on you I think we're waiting now for a tricycle favorite mode of Transport [Music] here coron town is on the southern part of the island and basically consists of one main road going through all of it with a few small roads intersecting as you can imagine this one road was always busy with thousands upon thousands of tricycles fairing tourists and locals back back and [Music] forth we were starting to get used to the rhythm of the Philippines the travel days were long but always ended up in beautiful locations just filled to the brim with wonderfully friendly people the tricycle had become a trusted friend and a daily necessity the hotels were great and affordable even ones right in the middle of the action like this one and if we brought a smile and a kind demeanor everywhere we went it was always return 10 fold you're almost there we've been expecting you wow so creepy I know this place is incredible come in this is our our room here at the Kon bang kuang mansion and it really is like a mansion I mean it's massive this place is incredible this is our room how much was it I don't remember I think we paid like $35 us hold on I'll double check for night $39 $39 per this was $39 per night a swan this table with fridge and amenities and then it's pretty cool in here where we're super hungry after that long incredibly beautiful a fairy so we're going to go get some food this is [Music] beautiful okay so first impressions of coron like it's uh it's pretty busy and I think there's just one road that goes all the way around corome town which is where we're staying we're on the hump for some food there are lots of restaurants going up and down the street as well as basically every hotel is just right on this main drag so that's why there's a nonstop garage of these uh of these tricycles going past it's loud and boisterous but it also feels super fun yeah definitely U thank you very much [Music] okay so you're walking around and it just brought us back down to this port which also brought us to this freaking U ice cream yes please yeah this port is absolutely beautiful and this kind of feels like the place to be at night I mean obviously with the sunset going on behind us uh and there's lots of really good really affordable food right over there so I think we're going to hit that up maybe seog for the second time today I don't know I don't know there's a lot of good options [Music] we picked out a restaurant that had very affordable food but it ended up being really expensive in a different way uh we just like rolled up and saw a sign with pictures and this lovely Chef smiled at us and so we sat down plastic stools table small table right by the market we're the only ones here it's great Josh got wings oh that's so hot yeah that's so good looking back I definitely should have gotten the ponet like Lisa did that's so good with the colan on top a little bit of this hit the [Music] spot dinner over the bright lights of a 24-hour pastry shop called to us and of course we answered smells good oh that one's good U roll That's Where It's [Music] At coron looks super cool I'm really impressed by this place it's got a lot of life this is way busier than ELO which is definitely a surprise for me for sure so it seems like the major things to do in Corona one hop on a boat and do one of those all day island hopping tours like we just did yesterday number two go scuba diving which looks amazing out here but it's way outside of our budget range like we're talking we spend basically the entirety of the rest of our budget just for one day worth of diving so number three let get on a motorbike explore the island go to the cool beaches I think that that's what we're going to end up doing tomorrow that looks really fun and doesn't look like it's going to totally break the bank on us and I know we're a little over budget already for now we're just heading back to the hotel we're going to grab some water and call it a night it's just all the tra days are very long travel days here and today was no exception up again back to our hotel we had a feeling that something was off but we just couldn't figure out what we'd find out soon enough [Music] okay so right the wheels have totally falling off this thing I got food poisoning really bad really really bad didn't sleep at all last night leis is sick I mean we both got pretty scratchy throats and I just think we're I know we're moving too fast kind of feel like we should know better by now but it's just bad luck it's just bad luck so today today's is just going to be a total wash and I know that you're sitting over there and you don't want to go watching sick people so don't worry we're not going to make you do that just uh yeah yep yep one thing we do still have to figure out is how we're getting from coron to the next place uh but we just we don't have the energy to solve that today so we'll figure that out maybe tonight tomorrow or something like that the ramblings of a ramblings of a sad sick food poison man all right back to bed okay I'm up so scary okay so feeling a little bit better today I mean be hard to feel worse than we did yesterday today we're going to go on a motorbike Adventure yep packing all the saltin crackers and Wafers that we can and some [Music] fruits there was a motorbike rental place that we could see from up here so that's where we went [Music] we headed to the nearby Petrol Station filled up and hit the road but before we could get too far we had to do some homework remember when I said that future us would have to figure out what we were doing after coron somehow future us had become right now us and we've got to do something our first job of the day our first Quest is to figure out where we're going next and how we're getting there uh we're at we're in front of atanza fery right now they're all sold out of tickets so we're going to go see if to go fairy has it and if not then we're probably just going to have to pay like a bunch of money and fly somewhere it takes 20 hours by boat to get from here to Manila so I don't know if any of that really makes sense okay the ferry was probably out $120 plus 20 hours of travel time for the two of us just didn't make a lot of sense with only two weeks here we went to grab some breakfast and come up with a plan hello hello how are you hello uh there are two really good things about this place one this gigantic rooftop Sunset Bar that maybe we'll just come back to tonight cuz this is pretty cool and this view is just spectacular I mean ignore the giant half-built building right there all the rest is just wow wow oh yeah I got their omelet with toasts they say and Lisa got the pipon with tofu what is ponon ah this is pipon looking back I definitely should have got that okay back to theame game plan so we're in coron right now and we kind of got to get anywhere 20-hour fair to Manila is out $300 flights to Manila that's too expensive what about this flight to anhis okay all right we're all we're all booked uh 12,000 pesos later which is like $215 or so for the two of us tomorrow we're heading to anhis airport or Anis City Clark Clark airport in onhis city that's where we're going tomorrow okay let's go check this island out this breakfast was good let's get out of here our plan for today is to Head West as West as we can go on our Corone road [Music] trip we started off going through mostly jungles and Villages until we stopped at the awesome pirate Cafe with the most incredible views and drinks we just found this cool little like dive shop SL Cafe on the way to some waterfalls refreshing drink and a beautiful view that a fancy drink oh and it's good so refreshing all right that was great we saw a sign for a waterfall up the road so that's where we [Music] headed just another quick cash only waterfall environmental fee and then bam lots of chickens wow this is beautiful okay back on the road we kept going until we hit a road block and right here we're collecting at 200 environmental Fe oh to go this way a 200 peso per person environmental fee to continue on the road we didn't know what we'd be paying for so we just decided to turn back around let the road trip continue we couldn't head any more West without paying additional taxes so we made our way back into town in search of honestly anything we did see a sign for a beach but we were running out of petrol so we stopped at the shack to top up and get some snacks one L yeah how much is one lit thank you okay thank you very much I'm pretty sure this is Petrol in this olive oil bottle pretty pretty sure they were super nice and had everything that one needs for a perfect day at the beach speaking of that a little dirt road a little bumpy bump another microtransaction of course and wow that's pretty sweet yeah this will do karaoke going on these all these cool little Cottages tons of space with shade right on the beach there's even this like cool Cottage on the top of the hill this is awesome oh I like the look at this one too we grabbed a cabana right on the water set up our snack buffet and settled in at this picturesque spot oranges your red horse oo thanks my gator re [Music] I was a little bit worried today that we were going to be missing out by not doing another boat tour but seeing the island through the motorbike and seeing all the different Villages that we passed by and now ending here yeah this is this is the best way you going to go for quick swim in the perfectly Blue Water and then we saw this familiar villain once again's getting pulled out that's pretty [Music] cool what a beautiful place such an awesome little little beach here in karon and the karaoke still keeps going all right we're heading out trying to catch the sun all right on the road okay so now we're just heading up to mount toas is that how you say it even if we don't catch it in time this is uh this has been a pretty fun [Music] day that's yay we found it okay lots of people coming down which is not a good sign hopefully we won't miss it all it's 720 steps to the top luckily we had a guide dog to help keep us motivated well that's 600 700 720 and then yeah look at [Music] this unless it's you I'm falling to I was lost Within Darkness but and I found her I found [Music] you what do you think this is this is worth the hike for sure 720 stairs I feel like I almost when we were pressed for time and we were like trying to figure out what to do in Corone I was like oh maybe we should skip this this is the best thing we did the whole time definitely think so an incredible 360 view of all the mountains all the islands all the boats all the hotels the McDonald's the gold March hi I'm sad to be leaving palan tomorrow I'm pretty bummed that's true our whole trip so far has been in poan starting tomorrow we're going to be going to a very different feeling place I think with a very different vibe this is a great way to end this part of the trip though for sure just trying to take it in just trying man what a you know what a half what a halftime we've had check out the it keeps getting better and better it really does [Music] let's go return this trusty [Music] steeve right up [Music] there okay thank you byebye our time in coron definitely had it shares of ups and downs but one thing is for certain they sure know how to do sunsets and make a really good pizza okay so we're at traia El Trove which apparently is the best pizza anywhere in Corone and I think they also say anywhere in the Philippines when you walk in the first thing that they say is like pizza only that's all you can get here don't try ordering anything else it's only pizza and for me that's a very good sign thank you very much [Music] that's delicious pizza mission accomplished one last tricycle ride back to the hotel [Music] thank [Music] [Music] you our short time in coron was unfortunately over let's go see what the airport is like [Music] I think there's a plane taking off right behind [Music] us just barely made it under the preposterously small baggage weight limit waited in the one room forgate terminal picked up a very exciting airport breakfast behold hot dog technology and then just walked right onto our plane what a beautiful place 45 minutes later we landed in anola City to an airport that we had just learned about and just put onto our mapal airport we're in somewhere kind of close to Manila but not it's like the the other airport outside of Manila where is [Music] everybody we picked up our bags and did the ceremonial post budget flight repacking of all our bags and then went off to do what apparently everyone who lands here does leave immediately and head straight to Manila and now now we're off on another form of transportation today heading to [Music] Manila 3 hours later we had made it to the big [Music] city we got dropped off in this gigantic parking lot on the outskirts of Manila and called the taxi with the grab app and a few minutes later one rolled up and we got our first glimpse of every side of Manila we checked into our hotel in the maati area an area that appears by First Look to be half red light bar district and half really fancy hotels we're staying in one of those fancy hotels that's nice you hotels theti version Look at this cute place we have this really nice bed it's memory foone look at this beautiful artwork by Merc along this thank you it's very beautiful and tropical all that you need water bottles Kettle wine for 499 pesos let's check out the view oh all right future nice hotel yep someday that'll be really cool I think this place is like $33 per night which is really great really affordable and I think it's in one of the best neighborhoods in Manila that we think like there's a lot of restaurants nearby also smile it looks good on you wait I just noticed something how cute are these slippers let's go get some food huh fried chicken yeah yeah Fried Chicken apparently this is the Philippines most beloved Fried Chicken chain Max is oh boy that's going to make some controversy [Music] soon enough we landed at [Music] Max's I'm thank you crab fried rice which I'm very excited for and then a family half chicken and several potatoes that Josh will be very excited for so he said this plate is for all the sauces we've got banana ketchup which never had before it has actual bananas in it oh or sace then some H sauce M crispy it's very good not breaded which is what I was expecting and I kind of like that it's not it's really flavorful now different flavors ketchup [Music] time that definitely has a hint of banana at the end yeah that's a new flavor unlocked new flavor unlocked okay all right french fry report time let's see what we [Music] got I think it's a plant my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined cuz it's not a french fry doesn't mean I'm not going to eat it [Music] and then on our way home we saw hot Asia so hot that it has two te's we got to check this out [Music] place is super fun and Loud cheers Manila was off to a really good start it was incredibly Lively and fun there were so many things to do and we had just scratched the surface I love this song but we can't play it for you cuz copyrighted this was totally different from the rest of our trip and the change was nice [Music] okay so it's day 10 and we're just kind of trying to like amp ourselves up to get out the door and I know that that sounds weird but literally every single thing and this is something weird that we notice is that everything that read online about Manila just says one thing don't get out of Manila just don't come to Manila especially on Reddit say don't come don't stay get on a flight immediately and go to the islands and we know to take things with a grain of salt whenever you read things online it seems like there's some really cool historical cultural things to see here yeah but there's one big thing that we keep seeing everywhere which is just watch out for pickpockets it seems like I don't know online maybe I'm sure it's overblown I'm so skeptical whenever I read that stuff I mean yeah it it feels like just any other big city you have to be a little bit more careful watch your belongings so we are as a result enacting our bare minimum protocol you know one piece of advice that I think that we are not going to mess around with is every place that we look said don't take a local taxi and make sure that you use grass thank you thank you have a great thanks you too I heard that if you're in Manila on any of the Saturday or Sundays you should definitely check out one of the weekend markets in the area so that's what we're going to do maybe find some tasty food [Music] W oh man there's so many good options here this is so much cooler than I could have ever imagined so I just bought an empanada for like 75 cents they got Japanese bread down there they got croissants they got good Filipino food we just got some fried chicken with like some salted egg powder on and I think it's going to be great I'm just I'm pumped up about this all the stuff is like really affordable really tasty looking and there's so much variety here this is really fun come on just look at it look just look at wow okay so this is a chicken empanada God it's it's too beautiful almost to eat m oh man that is so tasty so the bread on the outside is a little bit sweet and then everything in there just hits you with the Savory there's veggies so like it's nice this kind of spicy flavorful in the middle of it yeah that's right we eat veggies sometimes too this was not at all the Manila that the internet had described it was vibrant safe beautiful friendly freaking delicious and Incredibly welcoming you mean the internet was wrong hey thank you so much is it better than [Music] Maxes this is a salted egg powder which he kindly gave to us on the side oh wow this is really good this it's better than KAG red what that's so good frdy CR Crispy Crunchy but not too breaded so flavorful you didn't want any right this looks really good like it's got the same you know the bounciness to it I see why they say that you got to come here when this is open on the weekends this is like the world's great greatest like food market I don't know if you're here on a weekend I think this is for sure the place to start on your day also who wouldn't want to start their day off with some ice cream we couldn't decide so we got all three flavors cheese mango and cookies and cream it's really good I just can't decide if that's mango or cheese now we are heading to the wal city of Manila in fromo [Music] okay so we made it to infra Modas which is I think in Spanish means like the walled off City area and this is basically what people I think called Old Manila when the Spaniards colonized the Philippines this was where they had all their buildings and rolled in power until the Philippines gain independence it just feels like as soon as we got off the grab we're in you know a Spanish Town there's cobblestone streets the buildings are super different but I also love that it's just full of Filipino life here like there's neighborhoods there's Villages it's got a really cool chill Vibe there's a lot less cars and motorbikes and scooters for sure there's still people rolling around on bikes asking if you want a tour but I'm excited to see this place [Music] inir had beautiful streets another great little market and what's a bamb bike okay so we just got our bike rentals this is cool these bikes are called bamb bikes they're made out of bamboo like at least the you know the body of it these are great to get around it's like 100 pesos per hour it's a little bit challenging to get out of the area at first but we're just going to bike around the entire city and see what we can [Music] find I think this is the most vanilla Cathedral [Music] this is where the Spaniards once built like a fort but it's also a national monument and a shrine known as a shrine of freedom in honor of Dr vizal who's a revolutionary here many Filipino were murdered imprisoned tortured and murdered here [Music] okay so we heard the clock bell ring four times so it's time about time to return our bike we are at just about an [Music] hour now we are heading to Bono which is supposed to be the oldest China Town in all of the world outside of the towns in [Music] China a short walk over the Appley Nam Bondo intramuros bridge and we'd made it to [Music] Bondo I heard about this place in and they're known for their lpia here and it's a different kind of lpia that I've ever seen it's like a roll fresh roll there's meat and veggies in it it's almost like a tortilla wrap I've never had Lumia like this but people raved about this so had to try it crunchy bits veggies it's a little sweet was not anticipating that I think there's sugar on it and then it came with a packet of stuff that might also be sugar it's very fresh tasting probably the most vegetables we've had on this entire trip which I really like our trip to Chinatown Was unfortunately cut short because of an event happening at the church here so we decided to come back tomorrow and instead head out to try and catch some sunset [Music] okay so we made it to rol Park and wow we had read online that this is the place for Sunset and I think this is definitely living up to that there's so many people here I mean this is definitely definitely the spot to come [Music] bu [Music] High you have chosen po hello oh now he's he's testing you out hello [Music] cat oh man I got food and drinks here too this park is great these weren't just any shaomai they were jumbo xai with a little squeeze of kalamansi on top a scoop of fried garlic hot hot hot chili powder yeah you can just smell the spice coming off of it yeah that's spicy oh he dressed this up so nicely I've never had sui like this it's really good the acid of the the kalamansi juice nice touch I love the flavors so good I feel like I need to eat C my like this all the time it was so good we went back for another [Music] round as the sun set and the lights started to come up rol Park really started to come to [Music] life to think just this morning we were hesitant to even leave our hotel room that was a jam time to take a quick grab back to maati and rest up for tomorrow well okay one quick stop first [Music] wow we're getting so dramatic with these things the next morning our hotel told us something interesting apparently Manila has a free ferry that goes directly from maati all the way to Chinatown we thought that would be a nice way to start out our [Music] day it's a very pleasant way to get around Manila see some SES like that presidential Palace that they strictly prevent filming of so here's a picture of it the best part was the beautiful murals that go the whole whole length of the [Music] ride okay Chinatown round two first stop the church and then some very famous dumplings okay day 11 I think right 11 yeah 11 okay day 11 we're in Manila we just took an awesome Free Ferry all the way from basically right outside of our hotel back to Chinatown there's so much good food just like right around there and I know yesterday we like hopped out of Chinatown really quick so we're hoping I'm sure today it'll be different let's go go [Music] [Music] okay so this is the famous dong Bay dumplings here in Chinatown and it's literally like I don't want to stick a camera cuz it's just like one lady sitting in the back just making dumplings all day this all day oh thank you so much this takeout only right now I think that used to be a restaurant but apparently not anymore uh and yeah you just roll up give them 200 pesos which is equivalent like $4 and they give you 14 boiled dumplings with pork in them and it smells really good uh we just got to find a place to eat them now okay let's see what we got in this little bundle of joy they have the impossible to open tube of [Music] sauce give me 5 minutes to open up this sauce and then we'll be in business for real though how do they how do they do this I just okay okay screw that oh no we're chop sticking it well is it going to spray everywhere way to find sure this is the wrong way but Lisa use your nails and we have poked the world's tiniest hole into this sauce pocket and it's dripping and it's not killing us in the process okay here we go ready to go we have finally gotten this all sauce upu do you want to tell people what just happened oh yeah so we just met some people that watch our videos Gerald and an who watch our videos and we're just going to go grab dinner with them later on super excited uh okay but for now we are dumpling it up big time okay smells really good yep yeah I get what all the fuss is about this is delicious God is it good oh man [Music] tasty our food tour continued across the Chinatown bridge for some fried shiao poow for only 35 Pesos I love this city [Music] [Music] the friends that we just ran into or the new friends that we just made they told us they got some Chinese Donuts from here and they're really good so yeah we got to get some [Applause] we got a lot of good stuff okay in the green bag we got shanghai's famous Manila steamed bowel inside there's pork and on the bottom it's deep fried super soft bread really tasty Pork Green Onions inside it's really flavorful and the bottom I've never had bows like this the bottom is crispy which I think seals the deal for me this is really good and in the pink bag the Chinese donuts and they call them picho picho here we got the milk milky milk picho picho which I think is just like yowo with like milk powder in it maybe I was expecting it to be really really sweet but it's like got a nice creaminess to it this is so good it's like I think milk powder on it maybe sugar and it gets inside and it's flaky and crispy all at the same time I love this my favorite green onion pancake I could I could eat this all day it's just like fried tasty dough with spring onions put inside of it super flaky a gajillion layers [Music] and then it was time to call a grab to one of manila's famous malls to cool down it's that time of the day where it's just too hot to be outside so we are going to one of the biggest malls in all of Asia yeah we know it's a mall they're boring by default we get it this will be quick thank you very much for the L okay so nice AC look at that thing and that [Music] thing they do got a cool food court archery some familiar friends an ice skating rink and an [Music] Ikea they have picture frames with what I assume are local Filipino celebrities and it makes me so happy where m in Asia just so much cooler than they are in the US and then while Lisa was getting a tea I got a shave wow yeah you look so handsome it was it was about time so right this is a gigantic Mall there's tons of shops here there's not a lot to say about a gigantic Mall other than that it has a really cool ice rink I think we're going to go check out the beach we just left the Mall of Asia and just walked 5 minutes and we're on the water I mean there's this entire prominade that you can walk all along the water there's restaurants there's all these rides like there's so many people out enjoying the sunset soon I honestly had no idea when people were just ding Manila to us I just I didn't I wasn't imagining this and this is such a beautiful site to see and it's so cool to see so many people that live here enjoy the place that we're [Music] in I mean I'm sure that there are some rough parts of Manila as there are with any big city but it had quickly become my favorite place of this entire trip we just kept walking and walking and walking and we made it all the way from the mall area to this like beachy but not swimmable Beach area and it's almost dark now the sky is beautifully pink and orange sunset's here in Manila incredible actually the sunsets here in all of the Philippines every single one we've seen has been incredible [Music] set now was time to meet our friends at ubo night market we weren't sure what to [Music] expect wow this place is so cool smells really [Music] good oh man this place is super fun so far there's so much good looking food there's noodles there's schwarma stuff on fire other stuff on fire so much good stuff it smells so good he was so fragrant it's so like Smokey hey hey hey wao so much food so many things we've never seen before okay we got to try this out and then they also have this is so fun Gerard and and we met them when we were Ino and they they're showing us we're all in this awesome Market what we got so right now we have barbecue pork barbecue pork barbecue uh pork inid and chicken inerts I would recommend trying it without the vinegar first so that you can actually taste it this is the vinegar but I would usually eat it with it oh that's so good now try it with some vinegar rundown yeah dipped it in vinegar it's better with oh I love for sure for sure they showed us round of their favorite spots including and there's just no good way to say this pork anus soup this is tum I'll try it with you okay this is POR anus porc anus soup fumble right tumble fumble here we go Che Cheers Cheers that's quite good yeah you know what the texture tastes like it's like a tofu Bean CD almost oh yeah and the broth is really safe yeah I was expecting something yeah yeah yeah it's good right it does smell really good actually if you don't think about what you're eating that's really good it was surprisingly good there was also fried shiai incredible l oh man this place is great that was so good especially that lechon was really delicious nice sweet Savory mix a little bit spicy okay so I think now we are off to go find something a little sweeter even sweeter than that so maybe some Hollow and maybe maybe a fruit I don't know let's go I got the overload what Isa coconut that's so good so fresh this is so fun and I love that we just met these two randomly today and they're so kind and welcoming and they brought us here this is this is so fun this is how I want to travel all the time we picked up a few other snacks for later and kept on rolling four little [Music] chickens okay so haloo in English means mix mix so the one on top is Le blend and then U it's very sweet usually they they put uh sugar granules so you have to mix it oh to yeah to mix it okay they're playing Nelly really loud here Lisa said so many fun surprises here is that banana M oh yeah remember those snacks from earlier behold one day old chicken what do you recommend what do you think I eat it with vinegar okay so this right here is a one day old chicken not like a chicken that was cooked yesterday but like literally born one day later thrown into a deep fryer is what this is dip it dip it and then we got a we got a chicken cheers of course so do you do you recommend the whole thing all the way down to the okay fire the [Music] hole that's Prett good please hold crunching I bre [Music] up the feet really get you there's a lot of a lot to go through there and now little krabbies whoops little legs sticking out there Lisa says that's really good M our last stop of this epic food tour was a seafood shop where we got a few drinks and lots of fried col we had eaten all that we could so our food tour unfortunately had to come to an end they graciously offered us a ride home and on the way Lisa mentioned some fish crackers that she L but hadn't been able to find anywhere oh my gosh are you serious oh my gosh oh my gosh and they literally pulled the car over on the way home to get some for us just incredible was such a fun night this was so fun thank you thank you for the plain snacks as well yes this was so nice thank you so much and I'm I'm sure we'll see you guys soon one way or another we'll see you guys soon thank you back at the hotel we had a very sudden and very important realization oh man what a night that was awesome what a f just the coolest and nicest and most generous people they got us bags of snacks I mean I've been feeling this this whole trip but Filipino people are just so kind so welcoming yes so generous it was so fun and such a like we definitely would have never gone to that market or tried a lot of those foods without the guidance of our new friends what I'm so glad that we stayed in Manila for two nights I'm so glad that we're here yes yes you know but H so I just keep thinking that we're forgetting something I just keep thinking that we're like that we're missing something that everybody does when they come to the Philippines chonus I know and I just I can't I know what it is I know what it is I don't know what it is okay [Music] there was one last thing we absolutely had to do and oversight's so massive that it would have been honestly embarrassing to miss it the single most popular tourist destination in the country [Music] borai on the way we look back on our last two weeks here beautiful beaches incredible scenery countless colorful boats jees and tricycles named after the 12 disciples street food and seog Galore hundreds of friendly cats a little bit of food poisoning incredible Sunset so many churches tasty desserts and of course one day old [Music] chicken admittedly this trip was a bit of a tough one for us with lots of ups and downs it turns out we were approaching this entire thing the wrong way and we didn't realize it until last night you see along with our toothbrush and shoes and backpack we also brought an overly healthy helping of American rugged individualism from home with us everything we do has to be a DIY operation it's such an oddity so we stupidly spent much of this trip trying to figure out everything on our own furiously Googling for hours Heming and hawing about when to take a fairy or fly sitting in our hotel rooms on our laptops in the dark attempting to untangle the complicated world of Philippines travel all on our own instead of you know just asking and trusting any of the incredible and endlessly helpful people who are right in front of us trying to help us the whole time yay [Music] this is an e Tri this is pretty sweet you know it's easy to get the impression when watching travel YouTube highlight reels and certainly some of our stuff that traveling the world is a solely DIY operation in fact we kind of wear that like a badge of honor sometimes in reality that couldn't be further from the truth especially here it's the people the people behind the scenes researching navigating working tirelessly captaining lifting cooking leading all using their own time effort and knowledge that made this whole thing possible there's a phrase we learned here called Bion hun the concept that Filipinos will go out of their way to help one another without expecting anything in return it's sometimes also called Community Spirit like our first moments in pu to Princessa we showed up at the hotel without enough cash to pay our tricycle driver and the front desk lady personally lent us 200 pesos right out of her own purse without any question and just told us not to worry about it or on that pretty wild Jey ride to sabang everyone squeezed in a little bit tighter without any fuss just so us two robust backpacking Americans and everyone else could fit and the kindest Hotel staff in elnita who personally spent hours researching the fairies to Manila individually calling each Shipping Company one at a time to try to figure out their scattered Facebook page itineraries last night's epic street food tour with our new friends from Manila the secret Lagoon coconut kayaker guy who pulled Lisa all the way back to the boat without expecting anything in return heck we want to be even made it here without the advice and tips from the Chicken Guy at the Sunday farmers [Music] market I mean imagine if all of us just had a little bit more Bion hun like the people in the Philippines do what a world that would be this is awesome Bai is amazing I feel like we're forgetting something though you know [Music] [Music] that's really good you're still here thanks so much for sticking around to the end of this thing so one more tip so you're probably I meanin flying out of Manila when you finish up your trip and there are three lounges that you can go to here with your priority pass and the best one by far in fact we just tried out all three of them is the PSS LNG I'm sure that means something and I'm going to put that right on my nose here it's definitely got the best moood I mean they have a whole dessert bar they even have a Holo Holo station they have this like crazy Assad pork bun they even have like real nachos which was something that I didn't know how badly I missed until I didn't have it for like 2 weeks pesto uh like four different kinds of soup they even have cereal my personal favorite tasty wine and it's definitely the most comfortable and it's located right with these awesome big Windows where you can see the planes taking off it's just the coolest okay I think that's it for this one thanks so much for watching we'll see you next time bye
