[Music] welcome back we have a very interesting study that we're going to do now and that is who changed God's times but before we do we want to have a word of Prayer so I invite you to bow your heads with me father in heaven we thank you for your wonderful word Asher guide in the world that is so confused we ask that that word will speak to us as we study about the change in God's times we thank you Father for hearing our prayer we ask it in the precious name of Jesus amen well let's do a little bit of review of what we studied in our first subject together we have been studying the great prophetic chain the chain begins with which Kingdom babbling then it continues with medo-persia then Greece then the Roman Empire then what happens to the Roman Empire it divides into ten kingdoms and then who rises among the ten the little horn and it uproots how many kingdoms it uproots three and rules then 1260 what years in the 1260 years and what date 1798 when the papacy received the deadly wound is that the end of the papacy no no it's not the end of the papacy because Revelation tells us that its deadly wound is going to be wet is going to be healed to the whole world will wonder after the Beast what are who is it that it's going to help this first beast recover its power what nation the Beast that rises from the earth the United States of America believe it or not it almost seems impossible now we notice that the little horn represents the Roman Catholic papacy and I want to reiterate that we're not talking about the individuals in the Roman Catholic Church there are many sincere loving Christians in the Roman Catholic Church they serve God the best they can according to their knowledge many of them are more faithful with a with what they believe than what we are with what we believe to be honest with you but that doesn't mean that the papacy is system even though there are sincere individuals in the system it doesn't mean that the system is God's system the system is apostate the papacy which is the union of church and state mainly the high hierarchy of the church is where the problem is we gave several characteristics that identify the Antichrist the little horn first of all it has to rise after the year 476 secondly it has to rise in Western Europe in the third place it has to uproot three of the ten kingdoms into which the Roman Empire was divided for it would speak blasphemies against God claiming to have the power to forgive sins and have the representative of Christ on earth then it would persecute the Saints of the most time which is what the papacy did through mechanisms such as the Inquisition then it says that he would think that he could change times and the law and we noticed that the papacy does claim to have changed God's law it removes the second commandment from the catechisms and it clearly states that it has changed the day of worship from Sabbath to Sunday and then we noticed that the papacy was going to rule 1260 years time times in the dividing of time now there's one point that we did not look at in our first presentation and that is what does it mean in Daniel 7 when it says that the little horn would think to change the times we know what it means that he would try to change the law because the papacy were trying to change the law but what does the change of the times mean well you know some scholars in the Adventist Church have said that really what it means is that the papacy would think to change the times in the law times in the law but that's not what the Hebrew text says the Hebrew text says that he would think to change times and law they're two separate things so what does it mean that the papacy would think that it would change the times we already know what it means that it would think to change the law but what does it that the papacy would think to change the times well let's go to Daniel chapter 2 and verse 21 I believe that this is the central verse of the whole book it has three phrases that I want us to notice here three sentences these are three things that God does it says there in Daniel 2 21 and he that is God changes the times and the seasons who changes the times of the seasons God changes the times and the seasons that's the first thing that God does secondly he what he removes kings and raises up kings and in the third place what does he do he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding now it's interesting these three phrases phrases are actually illustrated in Daniel chapter 2 in Daniel chapter 3 you remember that the King had a dream and he couldn't remember the dream so who gave Daniel wisdom in order to tell the King what the dream was God so God gives wisdom to Daniel to interpret the dream and then if you read Daniel 2 37 38 it says there but Nebuchadnezzar was ruling because God placed him on the throne see that's another phrase that we find in Daniel 2 21 he he puts kings in place and he what and he removes kings that's in Daniel 2 37 and 38 and then the third point is that God changes the times and the seasons I believe that primarily when he's saying is that he changes the times and the seasons that human beings try to manipulate into changing what God has said that is going to take place and that is Illustrated we're gonna find in Daniel chapter 3 in Daniel chapter 3 we're gonna find that God has told Nebuchadnezzar how his is going to flow but Nebuchadnezzar attempts to change the flow of history that God has revealed and God will intervene to interrupt the Kings plans to change God's prophetic calendar in other words what I'm saying is that what the change of the times means is that the papacy was going to attempt to change the order of prophetic events that God has established in his calendar the papacy was going to try and implement a counterfeit prophetic scenario and we're going to notice but then is illustrated in Daniel chapter 2 and Daniel chapter 3 now you'll notice here that it says in Daniel 221 that God changes the times and the seasons now the question is is the change of the times one thing and the change of the seasons another thing or are we to take this as an idiomatic expression that means that God is in control of prophetic events I believe that we're going to see in our study that when it says that God changes the times and the seasons it is an expression that means that God is in control of prophetic events the change in the times is not one thing and the change in the seasons it's not another thing they really are to be coupled together and they basically mean that God has control of human events now it's interesting to notice that in the Book of Daniel there are two words that refer to time one is the word Eden and tomorrow if you come I'm going to give you several pages that have all of these words as they appear in the Book of Daniel the word Eden and the word Simon now the word Eden is translated God changes the times and the word Simon is God changes the seasons even times and Simon seasons now let's turn in our to Daniel chapter 2 and verses 8 and 9 Daniel chapter 2 and verses 8 and 9 I'm going to show you that these words are synonymous in other words this expression God changes the times in the seasons doesn't mean that he changes the times and changing the seasons is another thing it's an idiomatic expression that means that God is in control of prophetic events everything transpires as God has delineated in his prophetic calendar and so it says there in Daniel chapter 2 verse 8 the king answered and said I know certainty he's speaking to the wise men of Babylon that he would game what that you would gain the time in other words you're trying to buy time you want a period of time until my wrath passes away because you see the thing is gone from me now the word that is years there is the word he done in other words you're stalling for it done you're stalling for time now when you go to chapter 2 in verse 16 chapter 2 and verse 16 the same concept is there a buying time but the word that is used is not a done the word that is used is semaa which shows that they're synonymous basically they mean the same thing notice Daniel chapter 2 and verse 16 then Daniel went in and desired of the king that he would give him what time so you see that they're synonymous eden in daniel chapter 2 verse 8 and saman in daniel chapter 2 verse 16 so when it says that god changes the times and the seasons it's basically saying the same thing it's saying that god is in control of human events so the word he done and the word saman can refer to a period of time buying a period of time but it can also refer to a point of time both words let's notice Daniel chapter 3 and verse 5 Daniel chapter 3 and verse 5 here the word that is used is e done Daniel chapter 3 and verse 5 it's that at what time that's the word he done you hear the sound of the cornet flute harp sackbut psaltery dulcimer in all kinds of music you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the King s set up so notice it says when the moment arrives when the time arrives that you hear the music you're supposed to bow before the image that's a point of time isn't it now notice Daniel chapter 3 and verse 7 the word same on its the other word for time and it's clearly shows that it's synonymous because in Daniel chapter 3 and verse 7 it says therefore at that time when all the people heard the sound of the cornet flute harp sackbut psaltery and all kinds of music all the people the nations and the languages fell down and worship the golden image is that the same concept that we found in verse 5 the point of time exactly but in Daniel 3 verse 5 the word that is used is he done in Daniel chapter 3 and verse 7 it's the word Semin so what my point is this that when Daniel chapter 2 verse 21 says that God changes the times and the seasons and really these are synonymous terms it means that God is in control of prophetic events godness has established the prophetic calendar of how events are going to take place are you with me or not now let's notice several other verses that use these words he done in Simon go with me to Daniel chapter 4 and verse 32 Daniel chapter 4 and verse 32 this is speaking about the time when Nebuchadnezzar kind of lost it for seven years and God caused him to become a vegetarian and you know and really helped him because at the end he came to his senses he was thinking straight I'm just kidding I'm not making a point out of that but Daniel chapter 4 and verse 32 says speaking about Nebuchadnezzar they shall drive you from men and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field they shall make you eat grass like oxen and 7.e done seven times shall pass over you is this is God announcing a prophetic period is he announcing this is going to happen this is according to my calendar absolutely so it says and seven times shall pass over you until you know that the most high rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever he chooses but then it's very interesting in verse 36 if you go with me to verse 36 the word that is used is Semin and it's the same concept so they're synonymous notice once again Daniel chapter 4 and verse 36 it says there and this whole chapter deals with Nebuchadnezzar's insanity and at the same time that is when the seven years were up he says at that time at that point of time and the word is Semin here my reason returned unto me and for the glory of my Kingdom mine honour and brightness returned unto me and my counselors and my lord sought unto me and I was established in my kingdom and excellent Majesty was added unto me so our Eden and saman synonymous absolutely and as I mentioned if you come tomorrow to the meeting and you know my production crew doesn't like me to say that I promising to give you something because everybody who watches on television then they're calling us and saying send me one too but anyway I promise that I'm gonna I'm gonna send you this handout where you can check out all of the references in the Book of Daniel to be done into saman you're going to see that they're synonymous the point that I'm trying to make folks is that the expression times and seasons simply means God's prophetic calendar the way in which prophecy is going to be fulfilled the prophetic chain if you please the call is established did God establish a prophetic chain for Nebuchadnezzar's insanity they God say you are going to go insane for seven years and then after that you are going to get your reason back do God make that prediction establish that period of time he most certainly did now let's go also to Daniel chapter 7 and verse 12 and then we will read verse 22 and you're going to see once again that these words are synonymous Daniel chapter 7 and verse 12 and we're not going to interpret this verse because it would take us far beyond the time that we have but it says there in Daniel chapter 7 and verse 12 and concerning the rest of the beasts they had their dominion taken away yet their lives were prolonged for a season at a time so is that basically saying the same thing for a period of time a season at a time is a period of time the word that is used there is the word the word season is the word Simon and the word time is even so you'll notice once again in the same verse you have these two words that are linked together that basically are supposed to be understood as together and then let's notice verse 22 Daniel chapter 7 and verse 22 it says until the Ancient of Days came and judgment was given to the Saints of the Most High and the time came that the Saints possessed the kingdom now when we find in Daniel SEP 7 verse 12 that God extended the period for these beasts a time in a season does that mean that God established a certain time for these four for this to happen to these beasts was God establishing a prophetic time absolutely and in verse 22 is there a specific time when the Saints are going to receive the kingdom from Jesus is there a prophetic event that's under God's control absolutely so the words Eden and salmon are used to describe prophetic events God's control of the prophetic calendar if you please now let's notice an illustration that we find in Daniel chapter 2 and Daniel chapter 3 you remember the story of Daniel chapter 2 the king had a dream and this dream he forgot when he woke up so he did what a normal King would do back then a pagan king he called all of his astrologers and his magicians and the Chaldeans the experts of the kingdom to tell the King not only the interpretation but the dream by the way this shows that Satan is not able to read the mind because I'm sure the devil was dying to read the minds of the King to know what he had dreamed but he couldn't and so these charlatans were unmasked it was proved that things that they were charlatans that they didn't know what they were doing and so you know the story calls the wise men they're not able to tell the dream and much less the interpretation so eventually the King Daniel goes in and says to the King now please give me some time and I'll go look in my crystal ball and then I'll let you know no that's not what he said give me some time I'll go outside and a look at the stars at night and astrology will tell me the King's dream no no what the day you'll do he went to his private chambers and he prayed to the Lord for wisdom which we find in Daniel chapter 2 and verse 21 and so Daniel is given wisdom to in to give the dream and the interpretation of the dream so that's the first aspect that we find in Daniel chapter 2 verse 21 it's actually the third item and that is that God gives wisdom and understanding to the wise that's what he did to Daniel so that Daniel could explain the vision and could actually give him the vision but notice Daniel 2 verses 37 and 38 this is very interesting because we have the the second element of Daniel 221 it says you O king hear Daniel speaking to their beacon deser you O king are a king of kings why was he a king of kings why he had better weapons he was much more intelligent is that the reason why no you O king are a king of kings for the God of heaven has given you a kingdom power strength and glory who places kings and removes kings according today up to 21 God does see here that Daniel is reminding Nebuchadnezzar of that and God gave Daniel wisdom in order to tell him this beforehand so you have two elements there from the Daniel 2 verse 21 and then I continue saying and wherever the children of men dwell or the beasts of the field and the birds of the air he has given them into your hand and he has made you ruler over them all who is it that places kings and removes kings who determines who rules god does who gives wisdom so that an individual can tell the king is his dream and what the dream means God does but there's a third element this is very interesting the third element is that God changes the times and the seasons now let's pursue that for a moment after Nebuchadnezzar heard his dream he said yea this is what I dreamed and after Daniel explained his dream you know that there was going to be the head of gold babbling breast and arms of silver middle Persia the belly of bronze Greece the legs of iron Rome in the ten toes which is the same thing as the ten horns in Daniel chapter 7 which means that there was going to be a division nebuchadnezzar at first he was amazed as am i look at this guy so wise he his god must be the true god that's what he thought but then after a little while nebuchadnezzar said to himself huh so Babel and is only gonna be the head of gold that's not the way history is going to transpire history isn't going to transpire the way God says I am in control of history so what did nebuchadnezzar do nebuchadnezzar made an image totally of gold what does nebuchadnezzar really saying he's saying history is not gonna fool the way god says it's gonna flow the way i see he's trying to take control of god's prophetic calendar he's trying to counteract goeth prophetic calendar that's the third element in daniel 2 verse 21 right before this whole story takes place and so the king makes an image totally of gold and you know the story he commands everyone in israel who was present there to worship the image that he has raised up but there are three young men that say we will not bow down and worship now we need to understand that the issue here is greater than the issue of worship the issue is these three young men are not only not willing to worship practice false worship but they are unwilling to believe the prophetic scenario that the king is portrayed because God has said how history is going to develop so they're not only saying we're not gonna practice false worship they're saying we are not going to believe the prophetic scenario that the king is giving where he's trying to take control of God's times and so Nebuchadnezzar hears that there are three young men that did not bow down to worship the image so the King says bring those three young men here and he threatens them he says to them is it true Shadrach Meshach and Abednego the you know worship the image that I raised up which Ellen White says represented the Eternity of Babylon that babbling would last forever the babbling would never fall you don't accept my perspective of history you don't worship my image do you see that fiery furnace over there if you don't bow and bow down and worship you'll be thrown into that fiery furnace and what God will be able to deliver you from my hand it's a direct challenge against God he's saying I am more powerful than the God of the Hebrews let me ask you did God change the king's plans he will certainly did you know the story the three young men were thrown into the fiery furnace and Nebuchadnezzar you know he says problem solved this shows that I'm in control of history that my scenario there's no opposition now suddenly looks into the furnace he says did we cast into the furnace three months three men well I see four men walking like in the garden and they're not consumed in them and the figure of the fourth individual is like the son of God did the Lord change Nebuchadnezzar's scenario did God show that he has suffered and that history will develop as he has said that it will develop absolutely in other words God is in control of the kinds of Eden and Simon now Ellen White as a perceptive concept that we find in patriarchs and prophets page 504 speaking about why Nebuchadnezzar raised up that image totally of gold she wrote instead of reproducing the image as he had seen it he would Excel the original Odyssey will excel the original his image should not deteriorate in value from the head to the feet but should be entirely of gold symbolic throughout of Babylon as an eternal indestructible all-powerful kingdom which should break in pieces all other kingdoms and stand forever did God interrupt Nebuchadnezzar's perspective of history did God take control and say history will develop as I say not as you say he most certainly did so we have these three expressions in Daniel 221 and if we had time I would show you that this theme runs in all of the chapters of Daniel the central theme of Daniel is that God is in control of human history and whoever allies himself with God will end up victorious with God because God is in control of prophetic events we have another illustration of this in Daniel chapter 6 you remember the story of Daniel in the lion's den you know when I was a kid I used to love that story it's best apart especially when it got to the part of Daniel being thrown into the Lions Den you know and not being eaten by the Lions the King established a law that for 30 days is that a set time a specific time absolutely that no one could make a request of God or man other than the king so he makes this decree and the interesting thing is that then the king after he gives a decree he discovers that what these evil men wanted was to get rid of Daniel and the King loved Daniel but he's been tricked into this and the laws of the Medes and Persians could not be changed and so now it appears that Daniel is going to be cat food and so the king he goes right before Daniels cast into the lion's den and he says Daniel I am bound by my own law I cannot deliver you may the God who you continually serve deliver you because I can't did God intervene and change the king's plans he most certainly did you know the story Daniel is taken he's thrown into the Lions Den and the enemies say problem solved and so the king he's not able to sleep no musicians I brought before him he's suffering terrible insomnia all night because his friend Daniel is in the lion's den so the next morning he goes to the Lions then he says hey Oh Daniel has the God whom you continually serve been able to deliver you from the lion's den has he overturned my law and protected you and Daniel says what Daniel said the Lord sent his angel and he shut the lion's mouth so that the Lions would not eat me was God in control does God care really when human beings established a time period for something to happen can God intervene and can he interfere with that and make his plan be fulfilled now I want you to notice Daniel 6 this is really important there's a key word here in Daniel chapter 6 and we'll start reading at verse 14 a key word has changed then the king when he heard these words was sore displeased with himself this is when he discovers the plan of the enemies of Daniel and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him and he labored till the going down of the Sun to deliver him then these men assembled unto the king and said unto the king no oh King that the law of the Medes and Persians is that no decree nor statute which the King established may be changed and this is the prophetic period that he established for 30 days verse 16 then the king commanded and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions now the King spake and said unto Daniel thy God whom thou service continually he will deliver thee and the stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den and the King sealed it with his own signet and with the signal of his Lords that the purpose not might not be changed concerning the but did God change the plan concerning Daniel he most certainly did so what I'm saying folks is that the expression he shall think to change times in the law and the times the law we know what that means it means that the papacy would remove the second commandment basically and he would think that he could change the commandment concerning the Sabbath but the change in the times would mean that somehow the little horn or the papacy would try to interfere with God's prophetic calendar are you understanding me in other words somehow the little horn would attempt to change God's scenario of prophetic events how events are going to transpire in history perhaps hide the identity of the Antichrist by establishing a counterfeit prophetic scenario are you understanding what I'm saying that's what the change in the times means and the question is did the Roman Catholic papacy attempt to meddle with God's prophetic calendar with God's chain if you please and Institute a counterfeit way of interpreting events to distract people from the true meaning of Bible prophecy in the next several presentations we're going to notice that that is exactly what happened now we also need to examine the expression times and times and seasons in the new testament because those those words are used in the new testament they are Greek words they're not done in Simon they are Kairos and Chronos where we get the word chronology from but the parallel is there so let's examine what the word time or times in a prophetic context represents in the New Testament go with me for Galatians chapter 4 and verse 4 Galatians chapter 4 and verse 4 very interesting verse did God have a space big date when he was going to send Jesus to this world to become incarnate they gotta have that on this calendar Ellen way is a remarkable statement and desire majors what she says that everything that Jesus did on this earth this earth was in harmony with the calendar that they had settled in eternity past every single event an amazing statement notice Galatians 4 verse 4 when the fullness of the time had come God sent forth his son born of a woman born under the law does that work time have anything to do with God's prophetic calendar sure when the time arrived in God's calendar the Messiah came to the world notice mark chapter 1 and verse 15 what I want you to see now folks this is very important is that the word time and times when it refers to Bible prophecy is referring to God's calendar prophetic events events that God has established then are gonna happen in his timing and in his way notice mark 1 verse 15 Jesus has just been baptized and now he's gonna say something at the very beginning of his ministry he says that time is fulfilled the word Kairos in Greek the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand repent and believe the gospel what was Jesus referring to when Jesus says but time is fulfilled he's referring to the conclusion of the prophecy of the 70 weeks you see his baptism was predicted the exact moment of his baptism was predicted in Daniel chapter 9 and so after Jesus is baptized which is his anointing as the Messiah he says the time is fulfilled so does the word time have anything to do with prophetic events it most certainly does let me read you from Ellen White desire page 232 the time which he declared to be fulfilled was the period made known by the angel Gabriel to Daniel so the time that Jesus said is fulfilled is what God revealed to Daniel what did he reveal to him seventy weeks said the angel hour determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the transgression to make an end of sins to make reconciliation for iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness and to seal up the vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy so when Jesus said the time is fulfilled is he talking about specific event on God's calendar that took place exactly when God said it was gonna take place absolutely notice acts 1 7 8 this is a very interesting verse similar to Daniel 221 Acts chapter 1 verses 7 and 8 and before we read those two verses let me say that Jesus is responding to a question that his disciples asked let's read Acts chapter 1 and verse 6 and then we'll read verses 7 and 8 the disciples come to Jesus and they ask him Lord will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel in other words on your prophetic calendar is this the moment to restore the kingdom to Israel what was the answer of Jesus ah notice and he said to them it is not for you to know times or seasons does that sound familiar so referring to prophetic events yes it is not for you to know times or seasons which the father has put in his own authority so who is in control the times and the seasons Jesus is saying to them it's none of your business because the times and seasons are in God's control he says when things are going to happen so it says and he said to them it is not for you to know times or seasons which the father has put in his own authority but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem in all Judea and in Samaria and to the end of the earth so let me ask you what would times and seasons refer to in Daniel chapter 2 and verse 21 he changes the times and the seasons it must refer to God's prophetic what God's prophetic calendar how he has revealed that prophetic events will transpire in some way the little horn was going to attempt to change God's prophetic calendar he was going to try to deflect the truth fulfillment of prophecy by establishing a counterfeit scenario and I'm going to show to you in the next several lectures how the Roman Catholic papacy did that it is historical it is exactly what took place and I'll get a little bit ahead of myself the Roman Catholic papacy instituted a system of prophetic interpretation called preterism the idea that the prophecy of the little horn was fulfilled in the Old Testament with a person called Antiochus Epiphanes if that prophecy of the little horn was fulfilled in the Old Testament it has nothing to do with the papacy are you with me or not also a Roman Catholic Jesuit established another system of interpretation called futurism and basically he taught that the Antichrist will arise at the very end of human history and if that's true the papacy does not fulfill that prophecy is this changing God's times changing God's prophetic scenario you're going to be amazed as you hear this story in the next several presentation it's going to it's going to take us four five or six presentations to fully develop this in the next several lectures now let's go to first thessalonians chapter 5 in verses 1 and 2 first thessalonians chapter 5 and verses 1 and 2 once again we find the same expression times and seasons notice what it says there the Apostle Paul writes but concerning the times and the seasons brethren you have no need that I should write to you once again the same expression times and seasons now what was the Apostle Paul saying when he said to them about the times and seasons I have no need that I should write to you well we need to look at the following verses in the following verses the Apostle Paul is talking about the close of probation and the second coming of Christ he says I don't have to really instruct you about the times and the seasons which the that's gonna have a date for the close of probation there's got to have a date in his calendar for the close of probation yes does God have a date for the second coming you say well no the date is movable nor it isn't God is a date on this calendar for the second coming but we don't know the day or the hour that's what Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour but there is a day in an hour was there a day an hour to begin the judgment absolutely and so the Apostle Paul when he says but concerning the times and the seasons brethren you have no need that I should write to you in other words I've talked to you about these prophetic events before in the succeeding context in verses 2 through 6 the Apostle Paul is describing events relating to the end he's describing events that have to do with the close of probation and the second coming of Jesus by the way this this word for this expression times and seasons according to the Greek lexicon one of the better Greek lexicons of the New Testament it's called the green the greek-english lexicon of the New Testament and other Christian literature basically it says that these words can mean definite fixed determined or a lot of times and then it goes on to explain that the word Kairos is one of the chief eschatological terms the word eschatological means endtime terms having to do with Bible prophecy so are you understanding this point what did the little horn do the little horn not only thought I could change God's holy law by removing the second commandment from the catechisms even though it's in Roman Catholic Bibles and by attempting to change the day of worship from Sabbath to Sunday but it even went so far as to attempt to change the order of prophetic events that God established just like Nebuchadnezzar tried to do when he built the image saying Babylon will be eternal prophetic history will not transpire as God and said it will transpire as I say now let's notice a few other texts that describe the times Luke chapter 21 verse 24 Luke 21 and verse 24 this speaks about a very interesting period and you're gonna see what the word times means it says here in Luke 21 and verse 24 it speaking about the Jews the Jewish nation and they will fall by the edge of the sword and be led away captive into all nations was that literally fulfilled after the destruction of Jerusalem with the Jews absolutely and then it says and Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles until what the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled has God established a certain period that is called the times of the Gentiles yes and you say what are those times of the Gentiles I wish I had time to expound upon this this one verse what are the times of the well when we go to Revelation chapter 11 in verse 2 we find a very interesting expression let's go therefore for a moment to Revelation chapter 11 and verse 2 there you're gonna find what the times of the Gentiles are what period it is so it says there in chapter 11 and verse 2 of the book of Revelation but the court which is without the temple leave it out measure it not for it is given unto whom and to the Gentiles and they the Holy City shall be tread underfoot for how long 42 months so how long does the times of the Gentiles last it lasts 42 months is that a prophetic period is it a specific prophetic period that God is established that must be fulfilled the way that God has said it's going to be fulfilled absolutely was it fulfilled to the very letter yes but you'll notice that it is called the times of the Gentiles once again the word times deals with a specific period of prophetic events now in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2 go with me to 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2 and we're going to notice something very interesting about this same period the 42 months the 1260 days or what is also called the time times and the dividing of time 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2 and verse 6 this is talking about the man of sin do you know who the man of sin is it's the same as the little horn different names are given to this system to the papal system in some places it's called the little horn in Daniel 7 and 8 in Revelation 13 it's called the beast in 2nd Thessalonians 2 it's called the man of sin in revelry revelation 17 this system is called the harlot in 2nd in 1st John chapter 2 it's called the Antichrist in Matthew 24 is called the abomination of desolation in Daniel 11 this Toomas called the king of the north you notice all these names apply to the very same system in prophecy different names that describe the same power now notice chapter 2 and verse 6 for a while the man of sin was not visible he was under the radar if you please but there was a certain moment when the man of sin was going to stick up his head and people was going to see he was going to be revealed notice 2nd thessalonians chapter 2 and verse 6 the apostle paul says and now you know what withholdeth and we're gonna study this a little bit later in more detail and now you know what withholdeth now that something is holding back the manifestation of the man of sin but then it says that he might be revealed when in his time was there a specific time in which the man of sin was going to manifest himself so that people could see him absolutely when was that time time times the dividing of time 1260 days 42 months when that time came the man of sin revealed himself but notice once again that the word time is used here to say that when the time comes that God is established on his calendar the man of sin will reveal himself known as first Timothy chapter 6 first Timothy chapter 6 and verses and verse 15 once again the word times refers to prophetic events first Timothy chapter 6 and verse 15 let's read verse 14 to get the context it says in verse 14 that thou keep his Commandments without spot unreviewable until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ which what does it say next which in his times he shall show is there a time for him to show yes in his times he shall show who is the blessed and only potentate the king of kings and Lord of lords who only hath immortality dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto whom no man has seen nor can see to him be honor and power everlasting amen so once again he will show himself when the time comes notice also Revelation chapter 11 Revelation chapter 11 and let's read verse 18 Revelation chapter 11 and verse 18 are you catching the gist of what we're studying are you understanding the point that I'm trying to make with all of these verses the point is folks that when the Bible uses the word time and times in a prophetic context it refers to God's prophetic calendar events that he has established that will be fulfilled at a certain time with certain individuals in a certain place now notice Revelation chapter 11 and verse 18 revelation 11 and verse 18 and the nations were angry and thy wrath has come and the time of the Dead that they should be judged does God have a specific time for the for the the judgment of the Dead does he have a specific moment for that he is established in time for the judgment of the righteous death what date is that October 22 1844 on to 2300 days and the sanctuary shall be cleansed is that clearly in God's calendar has he established that date for the judgment of the righteous yes has God also established a date for the judgment of the wicked this actually is referring to the judgment of the wicked it's not referred to the judgment righteous let me ask you when other judgment when the wicked gonna be judged they are going to be judged during the millennium do you think God has a date for the beginning of the millennium do you think God has a date for the beginning of the millennium that's what it says here it says in verse 18 and the nations were angry and thy wrath has come and the time of the Dead that they should be judged and that thou eatest give reward unto thy servants the prophets and to the Saints and them that fear thy name small and great and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth so you'll see here once again that very clearly God has established a time for the judgment of the Dead both of the righteous and also of the wicked now let's go to our last reference it's also in Revelation chapter 11 Revelation chapter 11 and we are going to read in this chapter let's see if I can find it here actually chapter 10 not chapter 11 we just went to chapter 11 let's go to chapter 10 and verse 6 and I'm reading from the King James Version modern versions don't really catch the nuance of what this verse is saying they translated differently only the King James Version has the correct translation of this verse notice when it says in verse 6 you're acquainted with the little book episode right in Revelation chapter 10 an angel descends from heaven with a little book in his hand did you know what that book is it's the message concerning the judgment in the Book of Daniel so it comes down with that little book and he tells John to eat the book and the book is what sweet in his mouth but bitter in his stomach what does that mean it means that the message of the judgment that is contained in Daniel when when it was first assimilated there was going to be a sweet experience but it would be followed by a bitter aftermath did that happen leading up to the 18th 1844 movement do they suffer a severe disappointment that they proclaimed the judgment was it a sweet message at first oh absolutely but then it became what it became bitter now it's interesting to notice in Revelation chapter 10 and verse 6 then once again that this angel with a little book after the book is open in fact after the great disappointment the angel lifts up his hand to heaven and he says something very interesting verse 6 and swear by him that liveth for ever and ever who created heaven and the things that are therein and the earth and the things that therein are and the sea and the things which are therein then there should be time no longer what did the angel say time would be no longer is this talking about the end of the world it's not referring to the end of the world you say how do we know that it's not talking about time comes to an end for two reasons number one this is happening during the sixth trumpet and the world doesn't come to an end until the seventh so the time here cannot be referring to the end of the world and secondly because after the angel swears that time will be no longer Janice told prophesy again what good it would would it do to prophesy again if a world I come to an end so what must this refer to it must refer to prophetic time and that's how Ellen White describes it and so what this is saying is that after eight after October 22 1844 there will be no more prophecies that have to do with time so have we provided enough evidence from Scripture that the expression he changes the times of the season simply means that God is the one that establishes the course of prophetic events and when human beings mess with that God changes their plans and he Institute's his plan according to his calendar so basically folks we're gonna see in our next studies that the papacy has attempted to change God's prophetic calendar by projecting the fulfillment of the Antichrist prophets prophecies to the distant past or the distant future and meanwhile the papacy hides its identity because people are looking at the wrong time in the wrong place and the sad story is that the Protestant church is the conservative Protestant churches have bought this hook line sinker fishing pole fishermen and boat and fish Protestantism has bought this they have totally gone away from their roots in the Protestant Reformation and for this reason they look to the middle east they talk about the Muslims they talk about they talk about all these events that are taking place in the world in the Middle East and meanwhile the power of the papacy girls in Rome in apostate Protestantism in the United States comes closer and closer to Rome and they cannot see prophecy being fulfilled because they're looking in the wrong place in the wrong time for the wrong people this is vitally important so I hope there you continue coming spread the word spread the word we'd like to have this place totally full so we can see how God's prophetic events will transpire so that we can be prepared for what's coming very soon upon this world [Music] you [Music]
