proof a method of manufacturer right silver eagles the big silver dollar and then the word Philadelphia proofs did anybody even know they existed I mean since 2001 it's been West Point and when they started making them in 1986 it was San Francisco so most just didn't know what happened but it did tonight we have one of those crazy deals on Philadelphia proofs and the price it's the ABC way everyone the price is $89.95 for a proof silver eagle that goes back almost three decades so let's talk about the eagle program first and then we'll walk into Philadelphia when they made their coins and that makes this makes it a lot easier to comprehend and work with us so 1986 we passed the legislation for a silver bullion coin and gold bullion coins the American Eagle act for short they choose the walking liberty half dollar as the design on the obverse so now it's a dollar and then they made a new you a new reverse designed by John merant they made two versions uncirculated for Boolean proof for collectors proof being a method of manufacturer I'll get to that in a second as well now for the first 20 years that goes up to 2006 after when these coins were struck they only made two in 2006 everything changed and they started adding the satin finish the reverse proofs and all the other amazing coins and striking techniques but at this time in history we started with San Francisco 1986 to 1992 there were seven years all of them San Francisco s mitt marks and then in 19 1993 they threw us a curveball I was doing this back then maybe you were as well and I was like you got to be kidding me for the first time in US Mint history we are putting the P for Philadelphia on a silver dollar the answer is yes on all proofs we designate the mint mark so yes we're going to put a p mint mark on a silver dollar so they did Philadelphia from 199 9 3 all the way through 2000 was Philadelphia and as I referenced earlier 2001 is when the other West Point which is still made today is the primary Silver Eagle took over for that very short period in time the Roaring 90s right Philadelphia was in charge of the finest coin right there above the word fine silver is the P Philadelphia mint mark this is just great stuff so here's a question how many of you uh have the 2023 2022 2021 Pro silver eagle and my guess is you paid more than $89.95 for it right the competition on these same three coins are 165 to 169 same exact three coins these are the last three Philadelphia proofs period regular issue proofs period as I referenced in 2001 West Point took over and then starting in 2018 they made West Point and San Francisco and they've been doing that ever since but not P again P was left away just a chapter in our history here on Silver Eagles but how about that going back and getting vintage why 2K back we're talking about coins from the first 20 years of the 39-year history of the silver eagle uh good question yes uh tonight only $89.95 you do not have to buy all three at $89.95 to get the price of $89.95 hope that's easy so if you only want the last year they made a Philadelphia mintmark right there that beautiful 2000 that's okay thank you love to do some business if you have a few of the proof silver eagles and you just want to get them all because the price is well special I mean could you get the 2024 for that price just asking and I'm going back 20 years and getting you the great stuff not the good stuff the great stuff so let's spend a minute on proof the method of manufacturing regular coins that go into circulation are known as business strike and they're struck once right regular dieses piece of metal slap and it's in the circulation or a bullion coin that we collect as well proof is a method of Manufacturers how they make something right how they make it and they polished the dyes front and back they polished the piece of metal in the middle piece of planchet they also strike it twice not once with even more pressure giv it that great detail proof looks like a mirror right the backgrounds are mirrored the main devices the eagle on the one side John maran's design with shield and then Lady Liberty on the other are frosted just because of the techniques they now have today but everybody this is it this is The Real McCoy this is the real stuff these are the last of the Philadelphia proof silver eagles period now they call it ogp that stands for original government packaging which means the capsule as you see here the Box the certificate and then the outer box are all part of it we're just thrilled that well we're under a hundred but not just under a 100 it's at$ 89.95 tonight 9899 2000 your choice guys we got to put a one minute clock up please down the single digits on the 2000 a lot of people love the Y2K it's also a bookmark it's the end of the era right we started Philadelphia in 1993 we ended in the year 2000 so for many collecting all of them the front and the back is a great alternative and then you kind of squeeze it as you have time and you can find the right price and the right quality and mix tonight we have all that the best the silver e gold the highest quality the proof the uniqueness of a very short history which is the 1990s where Philadelphia struck the proof we put a p mitt mark on a silver dollar for the first time in US history and then West Point took over in 2001 the competition's at 165 165 169 That's Not Crazy Prices considering the storyline which is so significantly tied to these coins the end of an era there's not been a p mintmark on a silver dollar in the American Eagle series regular proof since this well tonight we have it tonight we'd love you to join us phones are very busy so don't forget avccoins.com but it's time for me to be moving on
