hi everyone we're here at John Salazar repair we have a 1997 Toyota Camry 2.2 liter that felled the emissions test at 25 miles an hour and I'll show you some of the things I found it has a code po1 71 lean and then it has another code for the air fuel ratio sensor P 11:35 and we can't really read the smog report but it showed it to be a gross polluter at 25 miles an hour and at 15 miles an hour it did find it everything did pretty good so the system is running lean and one of the things that can do that is the air flow ratio sensor it looks like someone's put a new sensor in here but they didn't throw the code out of it so I think that's what's going on there then we look at the air filter inside this housing inside the filter I've cleaned it out but it was all dirty in there what was inside of there was all this material you see in the bottom here so every time you accelerate that all that debris starts rolling around and it gets caught up inside the air filter and it just makes it make sure a big mess it clogs the air filter up right away another thing that swaddle body got real dirty when I took the air boot off I notice this big crack inside of here so that's not supposed to be split open like that this rubber just gets old and cracks overtime so that's sucking dirt the filters way back here so it's sucking dirt into the engine so if we go to the engine now and we look inside that throttle plate you've seen these before in previous videos that baby is just jet-black that's one of the worst ones I've ever seen so that thing is just full of carbon so the motors just got sucked full of dirt another thing that can cause it you know it's restricted fuel injectors the PIO 171 code or if you have a problem with the fuel filter and it looks like no one's ever changed the filter but it looked like they had the fitting off they've got some kind of red sealer on the outside of the fitting up here I'm not sure if that's what a thunder from the factory is sold I'm not sure but the filter is really really old I don't think that thing's ever been replaced before so hard to see where see if I can get the other one off of there and get a new get a new filter on it and here's what the new filter looks like I just buy it right from Toyota because the aftermarket filters a lot of times don't work very well they don't threaten very well that the threads are just a little bit different on the inlet and this one comes with the little seal rings this you need for the banjo bolt comes with it so you don't have to reuse the old ones or try to find another fitting so that's just a little tip from John Sanders we're going to clean that throttle body run that BG chemical through the air intake system create the intake valve put all the codes out put a new fuel filter on it put a new air bellows on it put a new air filter on it go test drive it and then after we test drive it if all the launchers have run they'll take it for a small test so what I usually do is advise a customer I take the vehicle home in the evening and then I drive it and then I have a scan to hook up to it and make sure all the mantras are ready to run and that way we can go for the smog test and I get the car pass-through smog for the consumer and say I'm going for the smog test and having the car fail again for some other kind of problem or because all the monitors didn't run I don't want to do that to my customers so I asked if I could have permission to take their vehicles and get it small for them so it's a one-stop shop you have to worry about it's my car going to pass what's going to go on with my car I just handle that for the consumer at the same time that's a little tip from John sounder so when you have torn boots like this when you have all that build up inside the air cleaner housing when that twaddle plate is jet-black like that that fuel filters probably never been changed like a hundred eighty thousand miles on it so it's pretty amazing that still ran as good as you did so thank you very much have a great day
