professional it's a great profession you'd be proud of this game and you can do a great deal for football today great deal for all the players in the league and everything else go out there and play this ball game like i know you can play it [Applause] today with a host of new names and new faces these packers appear on the brink of writing their own chapter in the book of champions fueled by the nfl's most valuable player the packers have achieved a level of excellence virtually unmatched in recent memory last week they took their performance to a higher plateau with a monumental victory against the world champions and visions of the glorious past may soon return to title town usa in dallas expectations always run high for the cowboys as they continue their super bowl run the eyes of texas are focused on the cowboys ability to attain football's ultimate prize america's team remains poised and confident having dismantled a proud philadelphia eagles team last week today two teams look to take one more step toward that bright light that shines at the end of this long and enduring super bowl journey the lombardi trophy [Music] awaits [Music] texas stadium is rocking and packed the enthusiasm you can't believe for this championship match between the green bay packers and the dallas in the third down package three wide receivers urban was in the slot i told you reggie white was fired up he was fired up and ready to play yesterday he can be dangerous [Music] the packers came after it darren smith came up with the block punt but the packers will take over six yards will attempt the field goal plenty of distance and the packers lead three nothing they got the turnover they bought the punt and they're able to take advantage and get a 46 yard field goal from chris jackie three nothing green bay back to throw dion inside the 10. in the first quarter packers leading 3-0 michael irvin from six yards away extra points good at 7-3 dallas over green bay the touchdown from aikman to michael irvin as john madden set into double coverage anger bennett was split wide to the right and deion sanders is covering him leon lent intercepts the stream pass from far leon left all six six of him in farb's path on second down aikman looking all kinds of time touchdown to michael urban his second from eggman you gotta take advantage of turnovers when they come your way green bay got three dallas got seven first attend green bay farm takes divinity got brooks and robert brooks will not be caught touchdown green bay and they're back in it that's farm's first pass completion 73 yards and if you're gonna make one you better make it a great one and he did robert brooks went right by larry brown been held by boyd dowler and turned around you see what he did there he made a little move right there on larry brown larry brown couldn't get a bump or a jam on robert brooks he got behind him and then led 14-10 [Applause] a minute 59 left to play in the first quarter and this has been full of fireworks and everything we expected and i think brett favre was looking for a chance to get the ball to robert brooks that's his favorite receiver they're not coming after this one and john jett gets off a rocket that [Applause] [Music] [Applause] as john madden said miss him that's the end of the quarter it's 14-10 dallas on top [Music] i'll go again here's farr keith jackson touchdown green bay that's what the packers needed again brett favre is going to have to do it he got good pass protection good time keith jackson right down the middle just like they did last week against the 49ers from farm jackie makes it 17-14 green bay leads by three look at this jackson right down the middle jackson [Music] [Applause] [Music] still going on to the 40. it's coming from bundler the pass is complete to earth and emmitt smith is deep and aiken gives him the handoff to emma smith inside the 20 checks the holder bono 29 in a row including the regular season successes and we have a tie 17-17 that was a big third down play by the packers and reggie white putting pressure on troy gives to him at smith smith flashes out outside the 20 25 first down they get some breathing room george teague knocked him out third down eggman back to throw it [Applause] the other way [Music] michael irvin who spins away from newsome and finally out of bounds at about the 16. [Applause] looking deep kevin williams makes the [Music] catch [Applause] and the cowboys recapture the lead emmitt wants that ball novacek is holding buno's extra point is good and the cowboys lead 24 to 17. [Applause] [Music] that's superman tattooed there here's farv again first down on second down inside the 20. jackie from 38 yards out is good and it's 24-20 dallas over the packers 11 29 left to play in the third quarter [Music] and the two wide receivers up above jackson play jackson keith jackson out of bounds at about the one maybe the two brock marion finally chased him down ocean and farm to brooks touchdown i don't know how he found him but he did that's his third of the day farms third touchdown pass of the day and he's found him the way he's found him all year i think he's looking for him i think any time that he gets in trouble anytime he needs a big play he looks for him he started in motion you see him going there to the right then he's going to stop then he's going to start underneath then he's just going to come under control and brett favre just fires him the ball well the extra point is good and the packers take the lead 27-24 barb was 5 out of 6 on that drive and the touchdown pass from barb to brooks [Music] green bay up by 3 8 when the throw steps up into the pocket [Applause] [Music] that's the end of the third quarter with the score green bay 27 dallas 24. [Music] michael irvin on the move dion sanders in the setup they throw a slam [Applause] daryl johnston gets down to about the five and a half five yards in its fifth second of the day another of those time-consuming drives and dallas has the lead again and the extra point is good the cowboys 31 the packers 27. 12 24 plenty of time left for both of these offensive units again far back to throw it gets it underneath is it dors 11. the draw play to edgar bennett bennett's got some room bennett rambles into dallas territory to about their 40-56 rolls picked right intercepted that's larry brown he went to the well once too often watkins was the man of motion this is emma smith touchdown 16-yard touchdown run by mf smith daniel but still nine and a half minutes left to play [Applause] [Music] the rush by top here's five on fourth down and here gets away from the run down for brooks incomplete the cowboys take over [Applause] [Music] very happy barry switzer buys a lot of time he says hey say i'm having a good time say i'm having fun will you look like you can again by tony tober jerry jones the job he's done always enjoyable rich dalrymple and now he always helps out with everyone and his coaching staff and the changes and the players hang together there's a guy who really really rose to the occasion he was suspended in the middle of the year leon left and since he came back it's been it's been a long time since we've seen those smiles yeah yes it has i'll tell you winning is a great deodorant and it's all been a race today dallas cowboys the nfc champion and they go to the super bowl to fight the pittsburgh steelers to whom we [Applause] [Music] [Applause] congratulated reggie white still on the bench [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] so for john madden matt millen and pam oliver i've had summer all at texas stadium where the final score was the cowboys 38. green bay 27 be sure to stay tuned for the post game report with james brown terry bradshaw howie long and jimmy johnson you've been watching fox sports coverage
