throwing and everything he's the best I've seen in a long time Wow Wow he's talented let's see him do that though for about two or three years and we can put him up there hey let's talk about something realistically here's Stanford's offense breaks eight out of ten in the pac-10 defensively they're number ten ten Agustin run ten against the pass watch out after tonight in Kordell Stewart they may be 11 out of 10 he could believe that he said a lot of quarterbacks he thinks words the best is the best Colorado and Stanford part from Chapel Hill North Carolina CFA primetime presents the number one ranked Seminoles of Florida State who face their toughest challenge yet against the 13th ranked Tar Heels of North Carolina quarterback Charlie Warrick continues his run for the Heisman while directing the number one offensive attack in America but warded the Seminoles faced a Carolina team that wants their program back among the nation's elite I told you if you'd come to North Carolina you'd get a degree from a great University I also told you you'd play big-time college football and congratulations because you're accomplishing both got a tremendous challenge tonight against the number one football team in the country with challenge comes opportunity man you got an opportunity to take another step a step to the top ten play hard have fun relax defense chase that football you got strength in numbers offense execute to perfection win the kicking game and put yourself in a position to win this football game with class in the fourth quarter because this is our house let's go win and the North Carolina locker room just a couple of moments ago certainly the most significant game for him and his young head coaching career and the biggest game for this group of North Carolina football players hi everybody I'm Ron Franklin welcome once again to see if a prime time we got an awfully good one for you tonight some people are saying though you might have a little bit of a david-and-goliath flavor well you might say wait a minute where Carolina's number 13 in the nation I know that but probably the thing that is scariest about Florida State their numbers on both sides of the football have almost been gaudy in fact their biggest challenge tonight could be to meet the same excellence that they have played with in those first three ballgames and we know that coach Bobby Bowden has charged his team with this for one thing with the likes of Notre Dame Florida and also Miami coming up he said I want more results and I want them right now and he also has charged him with one thing he said you can't falter tonight against the North Carolina team that has become a very dangerous outfit you're right Ron North Carolina is a dangerous football team and what makes them difficult to defend on the offensive side of the ball is the Carolina option package the first part of the option series is to dive trap play is designed to hold the linebackers to freeze them trap a tackle and pump the ball up inside to make and respect the run inside once you establish the trap now the option play where the quarterback fakes the trap can down the line of scrimmage and has a decision to make whether it wants to keep the football or pitch it off of the run support flare of the defense once you establish both of those areas now it's time to throw the play-action pass because they're going to try to get somebody involved in the secondary to stop the option now you throw the post behind the safety of North Carolina to have success tonight against for North Carolina the opportunity of a lifetime you know who we are no identity and you know that we can be we're at the level right now and this is our big chance to show that colors back that's one of the nation's top teams I think we go out there and do everything we need to do we shot the world you can't understand what it takes to be number one till you play number one and it's a great opportunity for our guys sure it's a big challenge but it's a great opportunity for our staff myself and our players to learn what it takes to play number one because you can't be number one in these better folks who think this is basketball country well it is but the night you're gonna find out it's also football country go down to the field and Adrian Karsten Adrian well Ron's tonight we get to watch the most exciting quarterback in college football Florida State Charlie Ward has taken the Seminoles to their most productive start in the history of the school after just three games look at the numbers 1,800 total yards to score in a minimum of 48 points per game every time he touches the ball heck is nearly another first down plus he has thrown the ball runs 90 times without a single interception he makes these run past decisions in such a short period of time run I am Telling You this fast break is frightening Adrian thanks and it that's the only way to put it just like we said in the open if you look part of the the packed house here at Kenan Stadium it's the maturity that Charlie Warren has shown it's from just a year ago when we had him at an early game against Clemson is is also a measurable thing the two head coaches in this one tonight the very familiar face from downtown the HESI way the only coach in Division one history with 16 second give 10 plus win seasons Bobby Bowden a young man that he's going to get his opportunity he liked to have it tonight to really step up to another Plateau look at this eight and one since last year's lost the Florida State good Mike that is impressive with what they have done since that time it's impressive Ron when it's on the field before the game I looked over to Florida State coaches they're very relaxed they've been in big games North Carolina needs to settle quick keep the crowd in the ball game but this is a big game for them won their first that they're going to have as a staff like this there's Vannevar right there Warrick Dunn on the other side Florida State's only return for kickoffs this season tree to start a half what they've been doing is using the kickoff team because they have scored so much good are actually sawing bad and now she's a good Bernardo Harris and in the secondary this is a good group of athletes they'll come up and hit you Bracey walker the leader their pass complete in the flat and it's flyer loitered that's what tag but Jimmy disco Mehran Florida State's starting on the no-huddle offense the advantage that gives you on offense number one you do not allow the defensive team to huddle so you can't encourage your teammate she's never huddle the fatigue factor because you're always trust them down the field the point guard mentality of Charlie Ward [Applause] John is you if you look where Charlie Ward's lined up Ron he will throw the ball from about 10 10 and a half yards deep it's hard first of all to get to him because you have to run so far to get to him then have a turnover to me one of the keys in the ball game tonight for North Carolina first down offense they must not get themselves in long yardage situations versus this defense the option will help Charlie Warren Charlie wants to timeout head time it was nine seconds left on that 25 seconds lock but he turned around obviously he was a little confused so the truth left in this opening quarter the second timeout called by Florida State's when we talked about how you get the signals on offense the defense has a similar problem because they never get a chance to huddle it's what I talked about earlier you never get a chance to go in the huddle put your arm around somebody and talk and get encouragement so you have to get two signals a couple different ways coach on the sidelines will relay it in to a linebacker who will make the calls they all are wearing wristbands with defenses on sometimes he'll make a call like number one all of you look at your wristband or there will be times when he'll tell all his defense look to the sidelines you'll see the call so they don't want Florida State to have any idea what they're calling on defense Mike look at this shot right here always thought
