Let me start by saying βYeah, I know...get off my lawnβ but I wish games today were like this. No three person booths vomiting out drivel to fill every second of the broadcast. No over the top graphics telling me how many hits Bake McBride had vs right handed pitchers born in Texas (although the score balls/strike graphics we gave today are an enhancement). No Cowboy Joe or Angel Hernandez making an NLCS game about them. Rose looked like he was jawing about everything and he wasnβt thrown out. It was just baseball. Kinda ugly. Kinda raw. But baseball.
Please crush my opinion let me know why Iβm an illogical asshat below. Thanks for your time.
Top of the 10th, Gary Maddox doubles in Del Unser to score the tie-breaking and winning run.
Complete 4+ hour video of the entire game here. Fun interviews with Dallas Green, Larry Bowa, and Pete Rose start around the 3:35:44 mark.
Joe Morgan in the starting lineup for the 'stros
Chasing Ryan with a lead in the 8th was amazing, that kinda stuff just didn't happen to Nolan.
That relay at the 5:20 mark is unreal
Brewster with that cheek full of chew had me dying lol. He looked ridiculous. It kinda felt like a parody of 80βs baseball players who chewed.
That series is the first I really remember. I can still feel the ups, downs, holding my breath and screaming. My sister will never forgive my parents for bringing a transistor radio to her birthday dinner. And listening.
That was a great series, nerve wracking for the fan
