you decided to buy a station wagon because you needed cargo room people rooms and more versatility than you can get in a sedan but why a plymouth wagon you could have chosen a Ford or Chevy but they didn't quite measure up did they you even had a choice at the big fury wagon the sports suburban custom in suburban or the popular satellite mid-sized wagon region custom and satellite you found out Plymouth at an edge over the competition let's show the people what you found out starting with the tailgate Plymouth and pour'd use gates that open like a door for passengers or drop down to support a load chevy goes a different room so there's no gate to support long car goes we use the same kind of Kade on the mid-sized wagon as we do on the full-size but again Chevy took another route opens okay but it's the stretch to closure when it comes to cargo carrying capacity on the big wagons Plymouth again has the edge this 4x8 sheet of plywood fits easily on Ford it slides in okay but unless you move the front seat forward you can't close the gate the plymouth mid-sized wagon handles the plywood easily door closes - not so with the chevy mid-sized gate will close and if you had anything eight feet or longer you'd have to drive with the gates laughing in the air like to try it on the mid-sized ford same problem just not long enough now when it comes to carrying people you see more important differences start with the full-size model plymouth made the rear seat easy to get into and wide enough for comfort Ford has me knockin side facing seats and they just aren't as comfortable chevrolet put in a front facing rear seat like wagons used to head that means people in the second seed has to move over to let a third seat passenger in and getting back there is an exercise once you are there you have the simpad to sit on and pity the passenger that has to ride the hump now let's compare the mid-sized wagon the Plymouth just step in and sit down looks YV comfortable doesn't it no bumper step in the Chevy and inside the rear is eight inches narrower than Plymouth Ford's a tight squeeze soon there are six and a half inches less hip room than our mid-sized Plymouth of course you can't open the rear window in the Chevy gig you get these vents instead that means you can't get a power option though the driver can operate them from the front seat like you can order on a Clement which isn't bad unless the passenger happens to leave one open then the driver has to come back and close the manually when it comes to the tailgate seating arrangements and cargo loading convenience plymouth obviously has the edge but here are some things that aren't quite as obvious but just as important like this air deflector standard on all our big wagons we build it right in at the factory Ford and Chevy offer extra cost and on unit a luxurious center armrest feed is standard both on the Plymouth Sport and suburban and the satellite region chevy doesn't offer one you pay extra for it on the big Ford not available on the mid-size Ford see this lever it's Auto lock available on every Plymouth wagon once you turn on the ignition the tailgate door automatically locks a strong magnet holds the button down so kids can't pull it back up unless the driver releases it here and here's an option worth considering a dual air conditioner available only on the full-size Plymouth helps keep backseat passengers more comfortable here's another plymouth exclusive available on our big wagon an electronic security alarm system once you ki lock the door if any one tampers with the ignition hood or doors and alarm goes off chevy doesn't have anything like and the system Ford offers doesn't flash the light you can operate power seat bag watches from either door with this button on either side in the big wagon or this button in the middle on the intermediate Chevy put it on the left the traffic side and Ford put it on the light if you're on the wrong side of the wagon it's a walk-around for you under the hood you find that extra care in engineering gives you benefits not matched by Chevy or Ford this is electronic ignition here's why it's important an ordinary ignition has these points and condensers they wear out electronic ignition eliminates the points and condenser saves money in tune ups and parts another money-saving feature an electronic voltage regulator it eliminates over 90% of the phasors customers paid for in old-style regulators because it has no moving parts Ford doesn't offer one both the mid-size and full-sized Plymouth wagons have more powerful engines both standard and optional for example our big wagons have a standard engine that delivers 13 more horsepower than Ford and 25 more horsepower than Chevy it's welcome power when you load a wagon with cargo or people want to pull a trailer while our big wagon with the trailer towing package will haul trailers weighing up to 7,000 pounds a half ton more than you can throw with a Chevy or Ford you'll feel a difference in the way plymouth handles two torsion bars in front and leaf springs and back offer controlled ride and handle we call it torsion quiet ride Ford has coil springs at all four wheels so does the mid-size Chevy the big Chevy has coils in front even our bodies are different our unibody has the structural members and body panels welded into one sturdy unit so okay we now know why you decided to go plymouth the convenience of the tailgate the convenience of the seating arrangement the bigger cargo capacity the handsomer interior the extra care and engineering that brought you electronic ignition torsion bars and unibody but tell us which Plymouth wagon did you choose [Music]
