this video is about installing a sway bar on my 1971 first thing to do of course is to jack up the car and Place axle stands or jack stands underneath the car and chalk the rear wheels and then give the car a good car a good Shake so that you know it's not going to drop on you when you're underneath cranking away on fasteners the components I'm installing are the stock size sway bar from Haas along with the links and the brackets and the the locators once you've determined that your a arms have the holes pre-drilled like most of the leader midges do the next thing to do is to tap or to clean out the threads on those two brackets right here on the bottom of the front subframe because if it's never had a sway bar installed those are probably filled with a bit of rust and crap so it's a 5 16 fine thread so that's the next thing I'll do is just clean out those holes there's not much to it just run a tap into the hole and make sure all the threads are clean just go easy so you don't strip any of the good threads that are already there so I'll just do that three more times and then we're ready to install the sway bar now the bracket gets mounted with three bolts with a little bit of anti-seize on each one some lock washers on the back side snug these down and then I'll come back with a wrench and tighten them up foreign that's it so those just need to get snugged up and then I'll do the other side now it's just a case of mounting the sway bar brackets I've already cleaned out the threads and it's just four bolts and I should go in easily we get one on each side it'll hold itself up foreign foreign [Music] snug up the other three and then we'll Mount the links mounting the links the spray bar in the other one in the bracket squeezing them together and then getting your lock washer and your nut on the back side of each and tightening them down so I'm just going to leave that loose I'll get the other side hooked up and then I'll come back and tighten both sides down the other side's all tightened down so it's just this side left to tighten up the bolts on the on the link and then position the sway bar so that it's centered and adjust the the two locators so it's a 5 8 on the link side and 11 16. foreign it's a little bit tight getting to this one so a gear wrench is pretty nice there is room up top foreign foreign so I checked to make sure that the sway bar seemed to be even on both sides now it's just a matter of adjusting my my locators and tighten them down so it's a 3 8 on top and a Phillips screw on the bottom foreign foreign foreign so I'll just tighten up the other side and this job is done then we'll take it for a drive and see how it feels so in conclusion a couple hours to install the sway bar and it was it's not a very expensive part so it was well worth it the handling on the corners is a lot better than it was it was never terrible but it's noticeably better so for a couple hundred dollars I think probably hard to do any kind of modification to your car that would give you that kind of difference for so little thanks for watching [Music] okay so here's a bit of a noisy ride with the roof up it's a bit of a crappy day just to see if we can tell how it feels sorry about the shaky shaky camera it's not a very good map foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] here [Music] oh yeah that's a definite Improvement [Music]
