1970 Custom Chevy Nova Gets A Blueprint 540 Stroker Engine

very weird I'll be with the Memphis this is a 1970 Nova belongs to a customer who purchased it in Detroit it's actually a pretty nice car it's been customized the door handles have been removed it's got pretty decent paint job on it suspension had a big block in it when we went to change the oil in the car we found all sorts of metal and the in the oil further inspection determined that the engine had lost some bearings so the customer made a wise decision he selected a blueprint 540 which is a really nice engine blueprint builds really strong engines they're tested they're ready to go when they get to you we've used bunches of them big upgrade and me and Bryan here are about to make it look easy just flip it straight back on wit ya double stepping is a great thing when you're tripping over somebody or like they're in your way then it sucks Bryan knows what are you doing I know what I'm doing and we don't even have to talk to each other okay I hope well I want to call like this because it's been so painted the firewalls been smooth you know inner fenders or a pan to match the car you can't just you know you can't just be in here slinging around and you know being really sloppy you've got to be extra extra careful mask things off take your time pulling stuff so none of this stuff gets damaged because this isn't a very matchable pain so if we scratch it it's gonna not be good we rerun in the same distributor I believe so I'd love to be able to tell you we're putting in MSD in it but whatever [Music] so this is our blueprint 540 it's really nice they a dyno test and send with it the dyno sheet of all their engines which is an awesome feature so you know what you have before you put it in the car and the break-ins been done this way yeah break-ins been done you know so here look at the graph dude this thing made some stupid impressive fork like it makes over six hundred foot-pounds from 3,000 all the way up to 60 100 so which is spinning through a big block of its displacement man this is uh this thing is going to be nasty yeah and it made almost 700 horsepower at 6100 but actually I'm sorry it made 696 at 5900 rpm so but you can see here yeah that's a very clean graph the torque curve is almost flat this is gonna be one hell of a street car I mean it never drops below 600 foot pounds like literally clean across for Christmas work that crowbar like no one I've ever seen unwrapping oh my god dude this thing is carved to pan look at those valve covers holy dude that's beautiful plug wire into the wall the whole works man this is done deal oh my god that's awesome that's really awesome this thing is so bad I mean it is like ready to like turnkey wow I'm impressed look at that timing covered you know it's it's cast that's beautiful I mean they even numbered the wires do listed it's it's amazing [Music] if this thing doesn't fight us going in honestly man this is gonna be a cakewalk I'm just worried about it lining up with the and falling in that's my biggest concern to us the transmission alignment it's sitting up I'll be ready to go there you go drop it drop it okay it's over the shell and I think the bell dropped the weight in dude I'm not even kidding look at it [Music] you know how good my beer-thirty beer is gonna taste to this bunch of Chanel screws to that firewall No fired from that [Music] all right [Music] super related man fired right up runs perfect and I can't be happier with this whole blueprint deal man engines usually never fire and run perfect this one did and it sounds amazing a few small tweaks on the carburetor and it's ready to roll I mean it's very impressive I'm super happy nerves are gone all as well man oh good I did this I would like to go to work no guys this is I can't believe it in [Music] used to muscle cars schnapps got a wagon power and yeah I went there because the car was heavier sure so I'm like ah I need a little bit more power because where I hear cars it's that torque band that you have is what's gonna move this car okay so it's all that six hundred foot-pounds coming in and staying over six other pads yeah that's what's gonna say yes no man you are gonna see yeah and you're riding in it's all the power right you're just gonna be pushed back in the seat all the time so I'm still you so the GM crate motor that came in here something like that comes up right power and then it goes about those aways this is there all the time so it's gonna have power low rpm it's gonna have power in the mid-range just gonna power up high I don't think I go back to work now so we'll finish up all the little things on it and then we'll get it out and then we'll have you guys honestly words can't express I've kind of wanted a classic car probably last 15 years I'm relatively young but still I fell in love with cars over 20 years ago so when I purchased a 2005 GTR off the back because my buddy had one and from there that's kind of had the car bug so far I'm excited I know you can't see it but trying to maintain just cool this about would you like a look is pretty good okay you ready [Music] but we're doing the burnout is only using about quarter throttle all the way through that engine makes so much power that you just you have to baby it and and watch what you're doing so we have to talk to the customer claude and then we'll get with him and make sure that he gets used to it and eases into it because it's it's it's a lot of engine you
