what would you do if somebody said hey here's a 540 inch power adder long block what would you run on it nitrous 671 pro charger maybe twin turbos we ran them all in this video the guys from blueprint engine offered up one of their 540 inch power adder long blocks now this long block had everything going for first of all it had 540 cubic inches always a good start but it also featured forged internals for its crank Ford rods and forged pistons it was also low compression make it perfect for any kind of power adder we wanted to throw it it also had two set of rec port aluminum high flow heads and a healthy solid roller camshaft the only thing missing was your favorite power adder so to find out how well this thing worked we added well we tried all of them we tried nitrous we tried a 671 you tried a ProCharger and we tried twin turbos so let's take a look the first thing we did when we got our power adder 540 big-block Chevy from blueprint engine was configure it and put it up on the dyno to make it work since it came as a long block we configured it first with Hawaiian team G single plane intake and that was for use with the rectangular port heads which step 540 head we then ran the motor na with long tube dyno headers to establish a baseline before we started putting our power adders on so equipped in that manner with an MSD distributor and a 750 ultraxp nut Holley carburetor the blueprint the low compression blueprint motor produced 649 horsepower and 629 foot-pounds of torque it was a good start for a nice healthy 540 low compression deal so the first thing we did was input nitrous on this thing so he put his X parameter plate on and at the 12 distribution points of the Zechs piece ensured equal distribution into the manifold and we set it up for you know a pretty good sized shot we put a 250 shot on it which was pretty healthy we returned to timing about seven or eight degrees hit it with nitrous and boom look at that I think jumped up over 900 horsepower so we actually got more than 250 for our 250 shot that's because we did pretty pretty good tune on this thing made 935 horsepower with a nitrous off that's a immediately that's a healthy big-block so this work really well 935 horsepower peak torque was 891 foot-pounds of torque and everything worked perfect obviously they did their homework with this piece it's plenty stout and as we would see this was only the tip of the iceberg as and well how much kind of how much power of this thing would take so this was awesome nitrous big-block now let's take a look at super after any nitrous our next test we decide it was time for some boost I mean this was a power out of a motor so we've got a power great another power adder and add some boost so this is our NA power output once again 649 horsepower or 549 horsepower 649 would be really nice 549 horsepower and 629 foot-pounds of torque but here's what happened after we installed a 671 blower kit from the guys at at speed master that featured the blower shop 671 blower and this was a good blower it was polished it was it was even stripped so this was kind of a for a 671 it's pretty serious piece so the first thing we did was put the blower on it and at 4.3 pounds you know we picked up a pretty good bit of power but it was only seven hundred and thirty five horsepower then we did a little tuning on it and add a little timing so you can see when we revved it out a little farther to because I was still climbing so then we were up at a lot closer to 800 horsepower isms it was 790 790 two or three so you see timing makes a big change and that changed the timing there from let's see here [Music] so we went from 25 to 30 degrees we added five degrees of timing as you can see in this range here at for instance fifty nine hundred rpm it went from seven thirty three to seven sixty eight so picked up you know thirty five horsepower just from the timing so that was good but this allowed us to rev it all the way out but still that was only you know four point three pounds it's not a lot so we did what everybody else does we added more boost here we are six pounds [Music] seven point eight pounds [Music] and then finally 11 pounds up and up and up that's what mousse does so it made seven hundred and thirty eight or nine hundred and thirty eight horsepower that 671 so it was doing well and that's the final pulley that we had pulley combination that we had we couldn't actually add run any higher boost because that was the biggest combination that we had available to us and that was that pull accommodation was with a sixty five tooth crank pulley and a forty eight tooth blower pulley so that's what ended up producing the eleven pounds and nine hundred and thirty nine horsepower now let's take a look at what happened when we installed the ProCharger after running the nitrous and the 671 supercharger it was time to install a pro charger so we put a pro charger f-18 supercharger and air to water inner core we also made a change to the induction system on the blueprint 540 power outer motor we replaced that lion team D team G intake with a Edelbrock single plane that was set up to accept individual injectors so it was port injection and then we installed this nice impressive-looking Wilson billa elbow so that we could blow through the elbow which is really cool that was a that was a nice piece it's not cheap but it's pretty awesome because keep those guys do good stuff over there so here's our n a combination and once again it didn't change the power dramatically making that change because we had enough fuel we had enough airflow to support this kind of power level so but here's what happened after we installed the ProCharger f1 a supercharger with a 4.25 inch blower pulley yeah you know nice things are happening we're obviously not revving the motor nearly as high as we could we could run this thing out these lay up past 6500 this big-block was safe up there no problem but we had already topped the thousand horsepower mark with a thousand and three horsepower and that was 851 foot-pounds of torque here's what happened and I'll go ahead and put the peak boost level up at this pulley and here's what happened after we did a pulley change on it because all you do is change the pulley change the boost James power this was a three point seven inch blower pulling down from 4.25 big change we're starting to get into a little bit of a belt issue maybe at the top here but this thing still did eleven hundred and forty five horsepower and did it with ease and I'll go ahead and put the peak boost up here as well but the ProCharger was working well we know that this f1 a will support over 1200 so there were still more power to go but this was a good combination though this power router motors really you know have a struttin stuff here so we're over 1,100 horsepower 1145 let's find out happens when we install the turbos the final test of our power adder blueprint 540 big-block was obviously they had turbos because we had already done the nitrous and the blower so it's time for twin turbos so that's deco install we installed a homemade kit using custom exhaust from J fab and feeding a pair of s4 75 borgwarner turbos and then that was feeding this dual in single out dual core area water or from CX racing now here is our na power output as always 648 + 6 or 629 and we're running the same elbow of the wilson elbow and efi intake that we ran with the pro charger so here's what happened after we installed our twin turbos and initially we had the boost set low to get everything right and get happy this was a 10 pounds but still 10 talents still over a thousand horsepower thousand 71 and over a thousand foot-pounds of torque and 5 so we did you know what everybody does we had our little manual wastegate control turn the boost up this is awesome stuff and look at that more power so over 1,100 horsepower now have about 12 pounds 1125 and we were just getting started turned it up to about 15 pounds being jump up there nice 12:57 so things are starting to get serious and our final run although there was definitely more left was at fifteen point eight pounds and really revving this thing to 6,000 rpm there's a lot left in this combination so we're over 1,300 horsepower thirteen hundred and three horsepower so that's good power good combination and again this is just a power out of crate motor from blueprint and all we did was put the boosts to it we put the nitrous we put the 671 put the ProCharger and then twin turbos from the twin us 475 okay guys what did you think about that blueprint engine 540 power out of crate motor first of all I'm kind of a big fan I think it worked great I loved building my own motor but it's really nice to be able to go grab a motor that's already done especially one that's ready for boost I mean we took that fight for it we added nitrous to it a 250 shot that were great we added it 671 blower and that worked great although personally if I had a 540 I think I would step up to an 871 we also tried the ProCharger that f1 a 94 no problem over 1200 horsepower then we installed the twin s4 75 turbo over 1,300 horsepower again no problem so four digit power level from a motor you can just go get that's ready it's a crate motor ready to go and ready to add the power outer stuff I think it's a good combo armature holder guys thanks for watching make sure to LIKE share subscribe ring that bill I'll keep doing the videos
