1968 World Series, Game 1: Tigers @ Cardinals

NBC sports brings you the first game of the 1968 World Series the Detroit Tigers versus the st. Louis Cardinals strain Lois and the aerial shot of Busch Memorial Stadium one of the beautiful new ballparks a baseball now in its third year of operation and the famous Gateway Arch symbolic of st. Louis Cardinals down on the field and in the stands roaming around to report to you be Tony Kubek also of NBC and yes it is pompously a five Gibson against Denny McClain and also Mickey Stanley a centerfielder is going to play shortstop today for the Tigers these are the two big stories as we open the World Series of course the Cardinals have been made to favor on their all around balance and speed they have stolen four times as many bases of the Tigers but the Tigers of hit twice as many home runs so it appeared to be speed balance the Cardinals against the power of the Tigers but sports has a precedent sometime of not coming out the way it was supposed to and here for 24 years as the outstanding broadcaster of the st. They go to the camera angle now used for every pitch (behind the pitcher, showing batter/catcher/ump) and the commentator takes note of it, "now how about that view" and "you can see everything from there."
